    Braised Pork With Dried Tofu
    Esther S.

Service: 1/10 The restaurant was not busy and it was hard to get a hold of the servers. My friend got her order and I had to wait 10-15 minutes for mine and that was only after I told them I hadn't gotten my order yet. Food: 7/10 The braised pork was alright but I've definitely had better. Also why do I have to pay an extra 2 dollars for rice! I've been to many Chinese restaurants and they always include rice WITH the entree. absolutely absurd. My friend had the crab roe over rice (which they are known for) and it was good but it was not worth the 40 dollars (astronomical price) I think this would've cost 25 dollars max for the quantity of food.

Came here on a Friday night and we were seated right away! We had to order the crab noodles and crab rice and both were so delicious and savory. We also ordered the mapo tofu and cucumber, braised pork, and sweet and sour rib. Everything was fast, hot and delicious. We were pretty full at the end of our meal and everything was actually pretty heavy! Service was excellent and the waitress was always quick check up on us.

We got the lotus root with glutinous rice (app that is sweeter), crab roe steamed buns, crab roe noodles, and crab roe with tofu. Out of all the dishes, we liked the 3 crab roe steamed buns and the lotus root the most! The crab roe noodles were not bad. We probably would not get the crab roe with tofu again.

Visited Xie Bao for dinner with a party of 4. Ordered a number of dishes to try including their viral Crab Roe over Rice. It came with a generous bowl of crab roe that you can pour over a bowl of white rice. I also really enjoyed the Braised Pork Rind with Crab Roe in Clay Pot, which came with a variety of ingredients. Other dishes we tried were their Sweet and Sour Spare Ribs, Braised Pork Meatball with Crab Roe, and Crab Roe & Roast Duck Soup Dumplings.

The restaurant shares an entry space with the fish spot next door; same kitchen is my guess. Simple, wipeable/throwaway table coverings, and simple decor. While they have the seafood boil, I'd skip it - not enough spice and garlic butter to really enjoy it. It was pretty empty on a Tuesday night, their house Yangzhou bao are far better - crawfish and shrimp was what I thought we ordered but they brought over Peking duck with chicken... 4 medium buns but otherwise was ok. $45 for the crab roe on rice or noodle... that was a bit steep. There are better options!

Went over to Jersey to try out the famous trending crab roe over noodles dish! I really liked the noodle texture a lot but the crab roe wasnt for me. However my family LOVED ittt, so if you're very into crab this is for sure up your alley. the wonton noodle soup was really good too, I liked the broth a lot. the string beans were also very good and the soup dumplings were very flavorful however I wish there was more soup. the fried bread buns with condensed milk was a perfect sweet treat to end the overall meal. The service was really good, staff was very attentive and you order everything on the iPad which was very convenient! if you're ever in the Edison area craving for some crab noodles, definitely stop by!

Visited on a friday night around 6pm with a party of 4 and it was pretty empty. Service was very fast, they gave us 2 menus which was helpful when ordering. We ordered both the crab roe with noodles and rice and both were delicious! Everything was very tasty.

Located above Mango Mango, need to take elevator/stairs to 2nd floor. I've seen their special crab roe over rice/noodle dish on social media and bookmarked their NYC Flushing location, but since I was in the neighborhood in NJ, I decided to try it in NJ instead. 1) Crab roe over rice - 3/5 I was expecting to be wowwed but was quite disappointed. The flavor just didn't hit. I've spoken to other friends and they all think this dish is just mid as well and not worth the price ($37.95) It did come with a small plate of woodear mushrooms which was nice. 2) Pan fried yellow croaker - 5/5 this was really tasty, perfectly fried and they cut it in half for you. The bony spine is there and easy to remove and the tinier bones were almost nonexistent or fried enough to chew and swallow. But it's good to be careful of the bones anyway. $6.95 for one. 3) Crab roe and pork pan fried buns - 3.5/5 you get 3 buns for $13.95 which I think is kinda crazy. It's good but I've had better elsewhere. The bun was soft and crispy on the bottom, and the meat was juicy but to me, it didn't have enough of the juicy factor. I like when I bite into these buns and the juice just drips out, but it wasn't like that. Still good though! But not amazing and I can barely taste the crab roe. They have an extensive menu (see pics). And the waiter was very friendly. The restaurant is spacious with lots of seating.

This place is connected to the Fish House next door. The crab soup was my favorite dish. They also have lots of fish options and crab roe dishes. We got pan fried dumplings with crab roe and a tofu with crab roe dish. I really enjoyed having dinner here. We got 3 fish options and they were all really well seasoned and sauced. I also really like the sweet and sour ribs. They give radish and peanuts as free appetizers and you can ask for refills.

I've seen photos, videos, heard from friends that crab roe over rice was a must try food, so I was eager to visit XieBao and finally get to experience it. With signage outside labeling this as both Fish House & Crab House (sister restaurants connected to each other), I was entering this restaurant with the understanding I was going to have a seafood forward meal, but what I was not expecting was the price point at which this came. Overall, the food was mediocre. We ordered a few dishes and none really stood out to us -- in fact, the item we kept gravitating towards was the free pickled radish that they provided as an appetizer. The crab roe pan fried buns ($14 for three pieces) weren't anything special, though they did have a decent amount of crab meat the flavor wasn't strong and the filling was overall lacking (in volume and taste.) The buns, though claiming to be pan fried, were on the lighter end of color and were not crispy at all. The crab roe over rice itself was pricey, understandably, but my table was extremely disappointed upon seeing the size of it. My friends have tried this at other restaurants in the past and for the same price, have received way more food elsewhere throughout NYC. The crab roe arrived separately from the rice, so it kind of looked disappointing presentation-wise. As we rationed our portions we realized there was not nearly enough rice for us all, and we had to ask for more rice about 3x in the span of a half hour before someone eventually brought us some. Other items we ordered just weren't good, whether it be because the flavors were overpowering with sweetness or if it was doused in oil. I was really looking forward to crab soup dumplings as I've seen in photos of the menu online, but this wasn't on the printed menu when we visited. Tables surrounding us were feasting on seafood boils and seemed to be in good spirits, so that might be the go-to when visiting XieBao. If you're really craving crab roe over rice or really want to try it, it's not bad for a one time meal, but definitely better options elsewhere in Edison.

Let's start with their famous dish, crab roe with rice. Looks good, smells amazing, taste is a little bland and lacking in crab flavor. Would give a 3.5/5 and wouldn't order again because of the price. The pan fried buns were good, not great. Top was soft, bottom was crispy but the filling was also lacking in flavor. The yellow croaker though was the star of the show. It was crispy on the outside, moist on the inside and super flavorful. Would come back just for the croaker. Ambiance was a little dingy, there were boxes laying around and didn't look like parts of the store were in use. Service was okay, nothing good nor bad to say.

The food is definitely delicious and flavorful. Although the pricing is higher than expected, but it's worth a try. Besides the crab meat noodle, I actually really like the soup rice. It was sweet and great seafood taste. The service was good. Waiter was very friendly and gave some suggestions since we're first time guests there. This would be a place I would return back.

My parents are OG Shanghainese, I speak Shanghainese at home with them. I've been to shanghai 8 times and lived there for a year previously for work. Was looking forward to experiencing their shanghai style dishes. Crab House & Fish House are through different doors but connected inside, sharing a kitchen and bathroom area. Not exactly the nice ambiance inside but not bad. I hate plasticky table coverings. Unfortunately, the food is just not very good. I went with the intention of trying the crab roe over rice BUT when I saw the portion size on a table next door to us, at $45 each no thanks. So ordered some different other things. Service here was straight up amateur hour - he was definitely trying hard though. Smoked Fish appetizer looked nothing like its supposed to look in the photos or other places I've tried it. Just not good. The pork rinds in fish soup with crab roe was seriously lacking seasoning and was FISHY. No seafood should be fishy - that just means its not fresh. Really not good. The sautéed eel dish was super salty - probably the best dish of the meal unfortunately. Good stir fry technique, cooked well. Only like 10 tiny pieces of eel in the whole dish though. Mostly peppers and pork strips I think. Not very authentic Pork Belly in Lotus leaf was also just "ok" at best. Braised well but just lacking any flavor outside of just salty. Spend your money elsewhere - plenty of amazing food options in Edison

I have heard about Harold's NY Deli but it was too far from us until today. My husband, Harold…read more(yes Harold) and I were driving back from AC and it popped up in my feed. I had no idea what to expect BUT so glad we stopped in. It's a mystery about portion sizes. We ordered a chicken noodle soup, potato pancake and a junior pastrami sandwich all to share! None of this was typical. The soup was plenty to split, the pancake the size of a personal pizza and the sandwich was huge for a junior. We took home leftovers of everything except the soup! My only disappointment was not regular priced matzah ball. I forgot to mention the pickle bar! So fun! This was worth the stop!

Harold's Deli in Edison, NJ, can only be described as an institution--and something everyone should…read moreexperience at least once while living in New Jersey! The portions here are absolutely legendary. A slice of cake is practically the size of your head. Order a "small" grilled chicken sandwich and you'll get enough chicken breast to feed a family. The BLT? An entire head of iceberg lettuce, enough bacon for four people, and what seems like an entire loaf of bread! You may experience a little sticker shock when you see the prices, but trust me--you need to come hungry! These portions are enormous, and you'll almost certainly be leaving with enough leftovers to keep you fed for days. When you consider how much food you're actually getting, the whole experience makes a lot more sense. It's unlike anything you'll experience anywhere else, and that's exactly what makes Harold's so much fun. And you absolutely cannot visit without checking out the Pickle Bar! They also have plenty of parking, lots of seating, basic ambiance and attentive staff. Whether you're a New Jersey native or just visiting, Harold's is definitely worth experiencing at least once!
