Finally trying Xfinity, will update the review if we need the home service/wifi. Quality/Quantity - Ordered online and their other location was out of stock, so my daughter chose this location for equipment pick up. After a 10-15 minute wait (very busy location, but plenty of employees) we got help and were able to pick up the equipment. Then they made us an amazing cell phone offer (they use Verizon's towers), but I will need my current contract to end before even considering it. The goal was to self install the router/modem (and failed, my fault). After taking apart the property to find the wire, we gave up and ordered the $100 in home service. And of course, I should have found it... The wire was tucked in the back of the wall box, I should have stuck my hand in what I thought was an empty box. Wasted $100, my fault. Product offerings - Internet, TV & streaming, mobile, home security and Comcast Business. Atmosphere - Decent size location. Plenty of mall parking, got a space up front. Open 7 days a week from 10am to 7pm. Service - Good, both in store and at the property. If my daughter gives me their business cards, I will update the review with names. I believe the sales person was Johnae...? Price - $35 a month for minimum wifi service and a modem lease. $100 for a technician to come out and find the wire that I was too lazy to dig in and pull out... Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1912; what a history. 1912 - Universal is founded, yes the movie company. 1926 - NBC is founded. 1963 - Ralph Roberts Founds Comcast. 1972 - Comcast IPO. 1989 - Sky Founded in the UK, UK's first satellite TV. 1997 - Microsoft invests in Comcast. 2002 - Comcast acquires ATT Broadband. 2003 - Investment in QVC. 2006 - Comcast Business. 2008 - Project Infinity. 2016 - Netflix launches on X1. 2016 - Acquires DreamWorks Animation. 2022 - Comcast and Charter form Xumo.

I've come here a few times to return some equipment every time Comcast does an upgrade. When you enter the store, they get your name, and call you rather quickly. I had some cable boxes I had to return when Comcast shipped me some new ones. So, the process was pretty quick and easy. I also confirmed my billing price as I returned an extra box this time. This store is located in the Fruitvale Station Shopping Center in East Oakland!!

Hurry up and wait

This place has really gone downhill fast. I came by to dropoff equipment and there's about 15-20 ppl ahead of me. There's 1 Manager helping people, and the security guard is keeping the waiting list in his head. I called the Xfinity 1-800 number, and there's a way to return equipment via UPS. Don't waste your time coming here. Good news- there's a Popeye's Chicken nearby

The modem/router is pretty sleek looking! This little light is on all the time to indicate a working connection

Let's be clear, Comcast is the worst but so are all the ISPs! But in terms of my experience at this store, they've been all good. I was with AT&T for both mobile and internet for many many years. The fastest internet that AT&T had available in my area was only 50 Mbps. Whereas Xfinity claimed they could offer 1 Gbps aka 1000 Mbps, just a casual 20x faster than AT&T. So I finally made the switch last month. I first came in Tuesday 12/29/20 around 4pm. I was lucky there was no line at that time. I think a line developed around 5pm, so try not to go during rush hour and go earlier in the day if you can. On that day, I signed up for Xfinity WiFi. You can also do it online or over the phone, but there was an issue with the previous tenants of my place and Xfinity said I basically I had to go in person to resolve the issue. It was pretty quick and easy to get set up. They take COVID and social distancing seriously, which is nice. They have a limited capacity of how many customers can be in the store, and everyone else is in a social distance line outside. There are plastic screen dividers between each team member and the customer, and also between two customers being served next to each other. They will always try to sell more to you lol I have been told they get commission for adding mobile to your internet plan. I was open to the unlimited mobile plan because it was much cheaper than my current AT&T unlimited plan, and they had promotions at the beginning of the year for a prepaid Visa giftcard, so I decided to go all in! My phone wasn't unlocked however so we couldn't get the mobile part done on that day. I walked away with an Xfinity goodie bag with the router/modem (combined, 1-piece) and this thing called Xfinity Flex that you can connect to your TV to stream things, kinda like a Roku or Amazon Fire Stick. I was able to set it up when I got home. The only thing that threw me off was the Coaxial cable - my old router didn't use this so I had to find where that thing was at my house lol. They have a handy Xfinity Gateway app to set up the WiFi, and it's really easy to use. They also have a Mobile and Stream app. In terms of mobile, I was told Xfinity uses the same towers as Verizon- so I believe switching to Xfinity mobile is comparable to switching to Verizon lol. About a week later, I came in to get the mobile deal. They had all sorts of discounts and promos going when I went, so definitely check out their website in advance to see what promos they got going before signing up with them! I got a new phone when I switched over and got a discount on the phone. I wanted a white iPhone 12 with 128 GB, but they did not have that phone in stock. The guy helping me had to order it, but then the system was down, lol. He called a few hours later and we were able to complete the transaction over the phone. I then got the phone mailed to me, and was able to activate the phone myself at home. Overall, the experience at the store has been good, I have no complaints!

Do not use their network ever. Extremely unstable connection. They said 50Mps, but it is much less than that.

Knowing how insanely expensive the Apple Store tends to be as well their ridiculous wait times to get an appointment, I needed to act fast for a very quick fix. Cellular City Phone Repair was referred to me by my father who has always had great experiences with the owner, James. Now having conducted business with him, what I can say is that James is a gentleman who provides very fair prices, great service, and super helpful tips. I called in the schedule an appointment early in the morning and he encouraged me to come in, so he could inspect my phone to get a better understanding of what my problems were. He saw me immediately, and gave me a turnaround time of about four hours. Given this wasn't scheduled in advance, and when I returned to the store he was just finishing up, I couldn't have been more pleased to have my phone functioning normal again. After receiving payment, he mentioned that I should call back if any issues occurred after the service. From his friendly and respectful demeanor, as well as great reputation, not just with my father, but also from multiple comments listed on Yelp and other review platforms, I believe his word to be true and well definitely return if I ever need any other service for my smart phone. I highly recommend Cellular City Phone Repair and encourage anyone in San Leandro or in the accompanying East Bay to go here if/when in need of a phone repair. I rate this business a well deserved 5/5.

They were both extremely helpful and, ultimately, solely thanks to them, my Cricket Wireless problem was solved. I have been a Cricket Wireless customer for several years and, thus far, I'd had no complaints. However, in my experience, when upgrading current customers to 5G, Cricket Wireless did a shoddy job re: preemptive support. Somewhere around last October, 2021, I started receiving texts to say that as of February 2022, my phone would no longer function on the Cricket network. As I had replaced my phone only 18 months previously, I called the number suggested to check whether my "new" phone would work. I was told it would not and that I would need a new phone. Several of my friends know about such things, (plus an affirming conversation with a T Mobile rep!), felt it should work perfectly well. Confusion! I visited the Cricket store in Alameda, where Adrian also told me my phone should work on the network; he suggested waiting until the change to 5G took place and to come back if there was a problem, promising to sort it out. Bottom line: my phone stopped working. Off to Alameda! Adrian was not at the store at that time, Miles was! He said all I had to do was call and have my phone unlocked. I tried to do this then and there but my call to Cricket dropped off. I called back but was told there would be an 18 minute wait. Miles took over and, through his computer, chatted with cricket wireless. Within minutes, my phone was working. A HUGE thank you for the support from both Adrian and Miles. If you have a Cricket problem, it is worth driving to this store for the wonderful, personable service. Plus, they sell all sorts of other things at the store too! Fascinating place...big thumbs up!
