On my last trip to AZ, I decided to take my dad's old Colt revolver in to get it cleaned up. I called around to some gun shops for advice on who could work on a Colt and finally decided to ask Wright Armory gunsmiths to clean it up. (Healy Firearms on Baseline, my awesome neighborhood gun shop, had recommended Wright for gunsmithing.) Anyway, the Colt had some rust on it from years of neglect and needed a gentle hand as well as someone who knew Colts. Many gunsmiths only work on tactical firearms nowadays but Marcos and the guys at Wright did a great job with the old revolver... and got it to me quicker than normal because I had to fly back home. My dad just sees that old Colt as his 'snake gun' but still, we're all so glad that it's cleaned up and in trustworthy, working condition now. :-) Total cost: $110 for cleaning, lube and rust removal. Sure, that's more than other shops quoted me but the guy at Wright's actually knew how to talk Colts. You should have heard some of the other responses on calls I made... lol. The only thing they didn't do was the 'test shot' I'd requested. That was likely because they rushed the job for me, though, so I didn't mind. I appreciated the quicker turnaround. Tip: Make sure the person who drops off the firearm can also pick it up. If not, they have to do a $20 transfer paperwork. Based on my experience with them this weekend, I'd recommend Wright to others. See ya there! read more

2nd time using them. The first time, they did a great job, that's why I was a returning customer. The Second time, their prices were very high and communication was poor. They also kept the part for a week after it was completed until I called them to pay for the return shipping. Then they wanted $32+ via UPS to ship back a $50 gun frame that they cerakoted for $150, when I paid USPS $10 to ship it to them (including insurance and a tracking number). The person at Wright that answered the phone didn't seem to care and he said that they used UPS and this was Wright's price to ship. BS!! I am getting tired of price gougers!!! Enough is enough. What happened to the customer is always right? Not at Wrights!!!! read more

I have taken two different WWII vet-bring-back pistols to Wright Armory over the past couple weeks. Neither gun has been fired since WWII and I wanted to be sure both were ready to take to the range. Wright is over 30 miles from my house but the drive was well worth it. The staff was incredibly helpful - they took time to show me how to field strip the pistol for cleaning purposes - and the efficiency of the operation was apparent when I got a text message telling me the guns were ready to pick up. Their fee was exactly what they had quoted me for each of the pistols. I will be making the drive in the future for some other guns I want looked at. read more

I bought a RIA 1911 Officer because of the good reviews of it being a solid shooter. First time out was at C2 and the slide had trouble closing. So being at C2, I dropped it off at Wright Armory since they're right there. They took the pistol for a super quick diagnosis while I waited and suspected it to be possible barrel linkage problem. They estimated $80 to fit the linkage. Now, I'm aware that things aren't always as they seem and once you get into a project, other issues may present themselves that weren't known before. So I knew that there was a chance the pistol had other things that may require work. I trusted the guys at Wright Armory to get my pistol running like a top. Other things they found with my pistol included the spring tension was too weak, slide lock needed fitting, and extractor needed tuned and then replaced when the stock extractor wouldn't cooperate. At each step in the process, they texted me to receive approval for the work. At any point if I wanted my pistol back, I could have refused the next step and picked it up. They never continued with work without my approval, which was nice. The guys were friendly and straight forward with issues with my pistol and answered questions I had each step of the way. Very happy with my experience and they work they did. Will be dropping off any gun smithing I need in the future there. read more

Beware as this place is unscrupulous and will rip you off!!! I went in to have work done on a revolver after seeing their work at a firearms event. When I went to the Mesa, AZ location on 12/12/2022 I was told it would be a $1000.00 deposit and the total estimate was $1000.00 to $1500.00 total. Once a total evaluation was done they would contact me and this is written on the invoice. On 01/25/2023 I was contacted and informed more problems were found and that it would take an additional $1600.00 to have this looking and functioning correctly and since this was now more than the pistol no other work would take place. After discussions with Marcus and him stating there would be no additional amount and $2600.00 would cover everything I paid the additional $1600.00. On 03/02/2023 I received a phone call stating the pistol was complete and I needed to bring in ammo for testing everything was complete. On 03/09/2023 I brought the ammo in and inspected the pistol and pointed out to Marcus, the gunsmith, the items that needed correcting and took photographs of what needed correcting. I once again made sure we were "square" and I did not owe anything else Marcus said no we are good he then made some comment about maybe having to get a new sight due to him messing up the sight when he machined it. On 03/30/2023 I was contacted about work needing approval to proceed, this was regarding three items 1. What the gunsmith was looking at doing to fix his error on the sight (an Aristocrat TS6); 2. If I wanted the pistol coated; and 3. If I wanted the caliber engraved. My answer was make right and fix the sight you messed it up at which point he tried to make an excuse about me not understanding machining and NO I did not want anything else done just fix what I pointed out on the machining errors that Marcus the gunsmith had made. On 04/14/2023 I was contacted and told the pistol was complete and ready for pickup. Marcus was able to make the correction to the sight and minimally disturb the logos. On 04/17/2023 I arrived to pickup the pistol and was then told I owed another $1800.00 for additional work. This was a surprise as I had multiple conversations with Wright Armory since paying the $1600.00 and never once was told I owed more, nor did I ask for other work to be performed, only for them to perform the work correctly. I paid the additional amount then once I got back home I reviewed my notes and conversation next, I contacted Wright Armory to discuss the sudden amount discrepancy. I was informed by Chris he would review the invoice, and on 04/18/2023 Chris contacted me and told me there was a miscalculation and they overcharged me by $1080.00. I then reiterated with Chris the information the company representative and gunsmith, Marcus, had repeatedly given me about I owed nothing else. Chris supposedly did more research and spoke with the owner and gunsmith over the next couple of days. The final decision was although they understood and apologized about the miscommunication from their gunsmith he should have never been communicating with me and I would only be refunded the $1080.00 they over charged me not the entire overage amount of $1800.00. This company makes their mistakes the customer issues and then acts like you just are too stupid to understand and either pay up or we keep your property. read more

Had a squib round in my scandium 38 and in the process of trying to remove it I managed to beat the hell out of the gun and make it unusable. After looking for a gunsmith on Yelp I came across Wright Armory. So based on their reviews I gave them a shot. The gentleman I dealt with was very friendly and told me it would be roughly 4 weeks for the repair and told me how much it would cost assuming no other damage was found during inspection. He gave me the option of making it functional or making it like new, I went with functional considering the "like new" cost would have been close to what I paid for the gun when I bought it. Almost 4 weeks to the day I received a text that it was done and I went down to pick it up. The cost was exactly what we discussed and even though I chose 'functional', the gun really does look almost like it did when it was new. They did an excellent job of fixing what I broke. All that's left is some range time to make sure all is well but they did a great job and I will keep them in mind for the next time I break something. read more

I took my pistol in to wright armory on the recommendation of C2 tactical. I needed a refinish, due to some surface rust. I was quoted $282.50. I thought that was quite high, but again, on the recommendation of C2 tactical I went ahead and paid for it. About 2 weeks later, I get a email stating they want another 62.50 to clean it. I emailed back and told them no more money. I then called, and told them I had work done on the gun a few years ago, and have never fired it. Dirty? I dont think so. Then they emailed me again stating I would have to pay a disassembly and reassembly fee. I went there as fast as I could to get my gun back. I told them I want a full refund.. Good thing for them they did give it to me. I seriously doubt if C2 tactical is aware of their tactics at wright armory. They will from here on in, so will every veteran in The Valley. (I'm VERY CONNECTED) I don't want any bullshit response from the owner either. You are fully aware of what you're doing. Don't make excuses making yourself sound like a liberal. read more

I ended up putting a roll pin where a set screw needed to go. Needless to say I could not remove it and the other shops I took it to said they would have to modify the lower. Wright armory was able to remove the roll pin without modifying the lower and were able to retap the hole for the set screw. Took my gun into get it worked on. I cldnt ratchet the Gun so I cld dump the bullet. I met w/Matt he was awesome. He was able to ratchet the gun w/in a second. My husband cldnt even ratchet Gun. He was awesome how he handled the gun and even gave me a recommendation for ammo. I guess the Kimber Micro 9mm has a pretty bad rap in the Gun world. I've learned not to buy into Rifleman mag. This is the worst gun I've ever owned and you have to be extremely careful about what type of home defense ammo you need for this Gun. He said either use Glazer or Power Ball. If the tip is too tapered or is too long, the Gun will jam. For range ammo, I have to use CCI or Federal. You need ammo that fires hot on these smaller guns used for conceal carry. Matt was beyond awesome and had the time to educate me on what he felt would help with this Gun. He said dump it! They're the worst CC you can own. I have several CC, but I'm sticking w/my Glock. I would highly recommend them if you're in a jam... read more

After retiring 3 years ago I had to find a civilian gun shop I trusted. Teaching precision rifle for a few of the better known companies in the valley, I've seen rifles put together by a lot of big names around here and some of the work was pretty bad. After seeing a few Wright Armory builds I've had them do some 1911 and Rem 700 work. I've spoken to 3 different people there and they all seem to really know their stuff. I sent a couple of my students there and have had no problems. Their prices are average but you can't put a price on 100% confidence that the work was done right. It still seems like no one in the valley knows how to fit a precision rifle to a shooter but for everything else I am using Wright Armory. read more

Highly recommended by a friend I stopped in to have them check a muzzle brake misallignment that almost killed my can. The machinist Will, took my rifle in the back, identified the problem, provided solutions, and then worked his magic. I decided to have the brake thread timed, so Will removed the barrel, turned it, installed the brake, and reassembled all in about 30 min. I was beyond impressed! Thought I was going to have to leave the rifle after hearing about a backlog for a classic rifle diagnosis. Glad I stopped in and will be returning for more work soon. The magazine on my .12 gauge has been jamming up and giving me problems so I took it in without making an apt. to see if they'd have time to look at it for me. They were prompt, courteous, and very professional. He took the magazine to the back and came back out in about 3 minutes with my magazine. They said they didn't think it was a spring like I did and thought it was just gunk that I'd allowed to build up that was causing me the problems... Said that if I had any problems with it to bring it back and wouldn't charge me or accept a tip when I offered it. I took it to Wright after a botched Cerakote job by a separate entity left my Legion chunky, rough, flaky, gross, and ugly in every way imaginable. They undid the harm that seemed irreparable and flawlessly applied a new layer of Cerakote. Ok, so the quality of work is excellent, however they have so much work it took 2 months to put a red dot on my Clock. So that is not where the problem lies. I got my gun back at the beginning of January and the rear sight was removed and broken. I knew they were going to remove the rear sight however returned broken? So they said they would replace it and after emailing Chris P every week (now April 2nd) since I have gotten no response? What did you think; I don't have another gun to put that sight on? How about just a courteous of saying No we are not going to replace it? I did my 23 years of service and I own a number of guns but if you don't live up to your word well that says a lot about your business and the quality of ownership and your employees. read more

I had a old, disassembled side-by-side shotgun I took to them to put back together. They told me it needed two new sear pins to make it operational (it worked before it was disassembled). While working on it, they broke the safety and lost a screw for the trigger housing. They contacted me to say the new parts didn't work, but for another $250 they "might" be able to it. I told them to forget it and just put it together. The charged me $160 just to reassemble a shotgun. They did not have the courtesy to replace the screw they lost or fix the safety they broke. The customer service was terrible. read more

This place is like a tire store charging you extra for mounting and balancing, valve stems, and valve caps. My revolver just needed the extractor changed. I was charged a pre repair evaluation fee and a post repair checkout fee. The gun was repaired satisfactory. The guys had the same level of arrogance as the average Cabelas gun sales guy. If your gun is a Ruger, send it to them, it will be a whole lot cheaper! Smith and Wesson doesn't charge the post repair fee! read more

My wife and I are relatively new to the gun scene, so when the Gen II Glock 19 my father in law gave us lost its front site, we were a bit at a loss. I called Brian at Wright Armory who helped us understand the options. Because he had a front site kicking around, he said $20 for a replacement parts then labor. When we arrived, we met Marcus, Head Gunsmith. He was in the midst of a lot of work (the holiday season is usually busy as people prep for time off). He stopped his project, gave us his undivided attention, and made our fix in no time. In addition, he took steps to ensure that the same problem would not reoccur. Normally there's a $40 minimum labor fee for any work, but Marcus cut us an exceptional deal given the ease of the project. We're looking forward to bringing sugar cookies by to say thank you. Here's the thing: to walk in with a simple fix as a newb, and still get the same attention, good-natured customer service, and skill that you would with an advanced problem- it's the hallmark of a great organization. I have a Ruger Scout rifle project that I am putting together and one of the first things I wanted done is to have a larger bolt knob installed. I was about ready to send the bolt off to a company I found online but I was browseing Backpage and found a ad Wright Armory had, $80 installed for a Badger knob, pretty good deal I think even making the drive from my house in the far east valley. I dropped my rifle off late Monday and got the call it was done today Friday! That is crazy fast service compared to the other gunsmith I have been using and I couldn't be happier with how it looks and excellent upgrade for the Ruger Scout. I will absolutely use Wright Armory again and excited to know C2 tactical is a indoor range and located only a few miles from my work. read more

just finish my slide!!! it's been almost three months now, and I still don't have my I-Dot slide back!! Every week I hear a new excuse as why my slide has just been sitting in a parts bin for two weeks!! At this point I don't care if their workmanship is professional or not.. I'm a professional too, but I can't tell my clients sorry it's going to take a month longer than I said to finish the job!!! Wright Armory - I just got my gun back from my son who dropped it off with your shop for repair. SWA baggage handlers did a fantastic job of f*cking it up; they smashed the case it was in and bent the gun about 30 degrees where the stock attaches to the receiver. I thought the gun was toast, so I took it into AZ to sell the barrel and whatever other parts might be salvageable. And the gun shop sent me to YOU. After the repair, I was told by one of your guys that it might have trouble with small brass shells. We took it to the range and ran 2 boxes of small brass 8-shot shells though it without a hitch! The gun works beautifully and I just have to tell you that you did an awesome job bringing it back to life from the grave I thought it was in. I asked the guys at the shop where I buy ammo if they could recommend a gunsmith. The suggested Wright Armory and it turned out to be a good suggestion. Took my AR in to have a free float hand guard installed during my lunch break from work. Was expecting to pick it up after I got off for the day but they got it done so quickly I was able pick it up on my way back to the office after grabbing some food. Customer service is great too. They don't have that typical, I know more about guns than you do, attitude that I run into in so many of the shops around Phoenix. Would definitely recommend and use again. read more

In the past I had wright armory install a trigger and irons on my new gun and this experience went great. Had I not sought them out for their services again this would have probably been a 5 star review but the last interaction I had with them was the most abysmal and laughable situation I have found myself in with a company. I called to inquire about getting a slide milled for my new carry gun and to start things off right off the bat I sat on hold for FORTY minutes before even speaking with an actual person. After the thirty minute mark I was just in it to see if anyone would actually pick up and had given up hope at that point. Got a quote on milling and cerakoting and was provided an almost $300 price tag and a 5 week lead time. I took this at face value until I decided I would do some more research and find out if anyone else could complete these services in the valley. My first search result lead me to another gunsmith in the valley. Their quote was $125 including cerakoting and I was provided a 7-10 day lead time. We had a good laugh about the quote and lead time provided by Wright and I said I would be by this weekend. The entirety of this phone call was completed in just over 1 minute or 1/40th the amount of time I was on hold to speak with someone at Wright. Moral of the story if you value your time or money stay far away from Wright armory. There are cheaper and faster options in the valley, who actually care enough to pick up the phone when you call. read more
