I have bought several of there firearms over the years and like them very much, since then I have moved away from Arizona and now I need a part that is not in stock on their website. They have been out for months. I figured maybe the website wasn't updated so I tried calling them , several times, also sent a few emails. No contact back yet, it's been over a week. I also contacted a few dealers from there dealer list and they all told me they stopped dealing with them because of the same issues I am having. Absolute terrible service Give your money to a better builder and company. Met a couple of their guys at a local gun show, told them I was having a failure with my firearm which is a Quentin Defense. Very friendly told me they could get it running. Brought in my Quentin firearm to be serviced a few weeks later. Was told would take about a week to get done and they would call me. I heard nothing for 4 weeks. I the then called, they told me it need a new buffer spring and possibly adjustable gas block. Should be ready on Friday. I drive all the way over Friday, no work has been done and 2 guys inside have no idea where my firearm has been. Now quoted one more week. At this point has already been 6 weeks. I waited and have called multiple times and never gotten a call about whether work has been done or what is needed. Today I decided to Joliet go retrieve my firearm, fixed or not. When I arrived to pick it up, met with rude staff. They then went over a breakdown of what work they did which was above and beyond anything I discussed and doubled price. I expressed my dissatisfaction and requested who the manager is or owner so I could express to them. The older gentlemen the began calling me a Mother Fu**** multiple times. Then took my firearm back away to the back of the shop for about 2-3minutes. Came back out and told me they undid any work completed and to go ahead and leave my review. Tried to purchase ammo. They aren't operating on the up and up. They tried telling me they only take Zelle. They gave me random people's names to send funds to. Nothing would go through. They then offered Bitcoin.... They finally agreed on PayPal but wanted the payment broke into smaller amounts over different people under "friends and family". I asked for a phone number to call, as it is supposed to be a business, to discuss. Was told they aren't taking calls because they are too busy shipping. A business that doesn't take calls but will take the time IG message for 2 hours....something doesn't add up. It is obvious they are trying to keep from being taxed on sales. I all for reducing a tax burden, but not at the cost of burdening your customer. After 2 hours of back and forth there ammo is not a good deal. They less than professional handling of an near $1,000.00 transaction left me with full confidence I would end up with something misrepresented. Went here for my FFL transfer (first ever) and was worried about how the experience would be. Walked in and was immediately greeted and I let them know what I was picking up. The process was very smooth including the application and background check. They kept me informed during the entire process and after I completed the check of the firearm and I passed the background check, I was all set. Horrible experience with Quentin defense. Literally the worse experience with that company despite the industry. And even worse considering the industry. I have a 2hr almost 100 miles round trip, only to get there and find out the $600 ARQ10 receiver set was badly damaged. Covered with scratches, blemishes, burrs, machine marks etc. I paid for a premium price, and expected a premium product, not SUBPAR one. I also had to pay $60 to my FFL, and got a flat on the way home, all of that for nothing. I contacted Quentin defense, the customer service was just as bad if not worse because they said they wouldn't sell it as a blemished price, though it was beyond blemished. They even said they were aware of the damaged product BEFORE they sent it and did it anyway. They said they were going to fix the problems with their machines and contact me back about reimbursing me for the fees I incurred and sending me a new 1....that was October 2022, over a year ago and to this day I have yet to have been contacted or compensated for their fault and failure. If I could give them a negative 10 star rating, I definitely would, they truly desire it. I was prepared to buy even more of their products, and send some of my friends way. I'll preface this with the fact that I've had multiple engravings done here and transferred a suppressor with QD, but all with prior ownership. I took my newly bought and newly form 1'd CZ Scorpion for a simple SBR engraving. I dropped it off in the morning and picked it up just before closing. When I picked it up I was sorely disappointed with the quality. You could tell the laser was way too hot and it basically melted blobs around the letters. You could barely make out the info and the new owner said "that's good enough right" and "I don't know what else they want me to do with it." I didn't raise a stink or get belligerent but went home disappointed in choosing them but at least it was done, albeit poorly. When I was putting it all together, however, I noticed chunks of polymer flakes all over my bench and the lower. I used some CLP and a tooth brush to try and clean it up a bit and to my surprise the engraving was much WORSE than I originally thought. What you could make out for the name was all dust. What was left was just deeply melted blobs in my $1500 NFA item. I called and explained the situation and that I expected a refund. They said ok we'll see you soon. I came in the next day and the owner stared at the engraving perplexed at how that happened or to see if he could still faintly make out the letters to deny my claim I guess. I asked if they left it on metal settings and he proclaimed "no it was on nylon, the lowest setting." He shrugged his shoulders, handed me my money and immediately walked away. Not once did he apologize for melting my receiver, not once did he apologize for me having to now find someone else who was competent to fix his mistake and make my engraving legal so I can finish the build, and not once did he apologize for me having to drive an hour round trip 3 times because of their lack of knowledge. I will never use nor recommend these people to touch ANY firearm of mine. What a shame as the prior owners Jason and Abby were awesome people. These guys are a joke. read more

I recently received a Quentin Defense QD-10 LR-308 Billet Lower Receiver for my LR 308 build. Initially I was super excited as the lower appeared to be fairly nice. Unfortunately, my excitement quickly turned to frustration when I attempted to build my rifle. It appears the quality control on Quentin Defense parts is poor at best as I had the following issues: First, the hole for the buffer retaining pin was undersized. I tried 3 different pins from 3 separate lower parts kits and none of them fit. This resulted in having to modify the buffer retaining pin. Second, when attempting to mate the lower with my Aero Precision upper I found that the pivot pin location (the space between the ears) on the lower was too small for the upper. I also tried a DPMS upper to ensure it wasn't the upper causing the problem, but this also failed to fit. Thinking that this may have just been an isolated incident and that the poorly machined lower I received may have been a fluke, I decided to reach out to Quentin Defense about the issue. This is where I really became frustrated. I have attempted to reach someone at Quentin Defense by phone and by email on three separate occasions and have yet to receive a response. I understand that a poor or defective product sometimes slips past quality control, but there is no excuse for flat ignoring a customer who has an issue with a product. This company turns out a poor product and their customer service is the worst I have ever seen. I would steer clear of this company unless you want a poor product or an expensive paperweight. Very disappointed! If I could have selected zero stars I would have! read more

I've been going to QD for several years, where I have my gun purchases shipped, my favorite FFL! Not to long ago they moved to this new location on McQueen just north of Guadalupe. They only charge a $10 fee for a transfer and you can be in and out in 10 minutes if you like. Staff has always been very friendly and accommodating. Interesting to see all different gun parts displayed, many manufactured on site. Maybe some day I will build an AR15 with their help. They are also a Glock authorized dealer and have lots of used handguns for sale as well. It's a comfy shop and easy to get to, away from heavy traffic and their parking is great. When you buy a gun by mail order and they ask which FFL do you want it sent to, I always say Quentin Defense in Gilbert, AZ. read more

I bought a 308 lower from Quentin Defense and began an 18 month journey to try to get a functioning gun together. Supposedly their stuff is "DPMS pattern", but no DPMS uppers work with their lowers. I went to DPMS and tried a handful of uppers on, then they pulled out a carton of stripped uppers and I tried on 10 or so of them with no luck. Couldn't even push the pins through. I brought my Quentin Defense 308 lower receiver to gun shows over the next few months and tried different uppers on it. I tried 20 or so uppers with no luck. Some didn't fit, some didn't line the bolt up with the buffer tube, and some had a conflict with the bolt release. I gave up this past Friday, went back to Quentin Defense and tried to get an upper built. They talked me out of it and into a prebuilt upper they had on the shelf. I noticed it was well used, but sold to me as new. I figured it was no big deal, I'd finally have the thing working. I went to put my silencer on and couldn't. I tried another one, no luck. I took a look at the muzzle threads and shoulder area. Don't drink and lathe. There is no shoulder on the muzzle for a muzzle device. There are a series of bulging tapers that prevent muzzle devices from being used. Also the crown is a weird, deep 45 degree cut. I returned the upper and sold them back the complete lower for $50 because I couldn't in good conscience sell it to anyone. The lower won't work with anything but Quentin Defense uppers, and those either don't work or don't exist. I wasn't going to sell that lower and force somebody to buy a Quentin Defense upper. There are like 30 alternatives and any one of them will work. read more

Let me start by saying that I am a female shooter and while not a novice, I am a relatively new shooter regarding modern style rifles. I was at the outdoor range shooting my ( brand X ) AR when the gentleman next to me pulled his AR out of his case. It caught my eye so I asked him a few questions about it. He informed me it was made locally by Quentin Defense in Gilbert Az. I had never heard of them but after shooting his AR for a few minutes I decided to pay them a visit. I met with Jason ( the owner ) and his wife one morning. Nice clean store front with their shop in the back. I told Jason what I was looking for regarding buying a new AR. We went over what he could do and what my options were regarding quality / price / what I needed vs. what I thought I needed etc. Very respectful, didn't talk down to me or make me feel pressured. His wife is the perky bubbly type you can't help but like. When I talked to the guy at the range and he said it was made locally I assumed it was *put together* locally. I didn't know Quentin Defense actually manufactured it. He took me in the back and showed me the machining process and what went into taking a chunk of aluminum and turning it into my new toy. Way cool. He also does custom colors and engraving. I ended up with a fuchsia upper / lower / rail with a black stock. He did some custom engraving including allowing me to choose the model name and serial number ( I choose my wedding anniversary ). I picked out my goodies including his lower, his trigger, his brake, and the other go bang necessities. Paid my bill and was given a time frame of when it'd be done. He called me when it was ready and was shocked when I picked it up. I'm a girl and guys could care less about looks but this thing is absolutely gorgeous. The pink anodizing is brilliant in the sunlight and there is no color difference between the pieces. I took it to the range a few days later and put about 400 rounds through it. No failures of any kind. Fit and finish is tight, his brake works awesome and it's a joy to shoot. In fact, I didn't realize what a piece of crap my ( brand X ) AR was until I shot this one. Accuracy is dead on. I can shoot 2 inch groups at 1000 meters with open sights on a windy night, standing, freehand with no sling ( slightly exaggerated ). The only bad thing I can say is it's too easy to spend money there. Already in talks with a second AR for husband and I recently purchased a suppressor from him. He does my transfers now also. I've been using QD for several years now. I first became aware of them through their military branch lowers, but the service and AR parts selection keeps me coming back. Quentin Defense manufactures their own receivers, as well as receivers branded by other companies. The QD billet receivers are on par with the best in the business, and I've built several rifles based on them in both 5.56 and 7.62. I also use QD for FFL transfers. Their prices are good, and they minimize any hassle. All-in-all, Quentin Defense is my preferred gun shop in the valley. read more

I wanted to build a pseudo M16-A2 clone; to look close to what I carried in the Marine Corps. I decided to use one of Quentin Defense's USMC lowers. Picked up a lower and then placed an order for an upper directly from QD, it took 19 days for them to ship the upper. When I finally started to put it together I noticed that no triggers would work in the lower, the shelf was machined too shallow. I tried two mil-spec triggers, and even tried a drop-in (which wouldn't drop in low enough to installed the trigger pin). I called Quentin Defense and should have immediately scrapped the idea of this build, as it took at least 30 attempts to get through on the phone. I e-mailed sales@quentindefense.com with zero response. I tried the contact us page on their website, zero response. When I finally made contact with someone on the phone they assured me that they'd get this fixed, just send in the lower. I shipped off the lower and never heard back. It took another 40 calls to finally get a human and be told that they had received the lower, it was machined out of spec, but they've fixed it and would be shipping it either that day, or the next. I must have not learned my lesson as I decided I wanted another upper receiver to go with this lower. I asked the human if I order the upper right now while on the phone could he make sure they shipped out together, he said yes; they have plenty in stock and are just wrapping up my lower. It's been ten days now and I haven't heard anything. I've called at 30 times each day this week and have never got through to a human. I even called the business next door who said they do see people go in the building now and then, so they may still be in business. I have e-mailed a few times, still no response. I posted to their facebook page once asking if anyone knew if they were still in business and someone responded that night with a screenshot for tracking of my first order a month earlier saying "you got your stuff". I should have screenshot that, as when I replied saying it had nothing to do with that order, it was my lower I was looking for info on they deleted their post and never replied back. If I knew ANY other manufacturer who had a USMC logo on their lower I would just write this up as a learning experience. I'm sure if you are local this business could be okay, as in person I'm sure they can't completely dodge you. Buyer beware!!! If you ever want communication, go anywhere but Quentin Defense. 2020-06-04 UPDATE: I finally got the replacement lower receiver, but for some reason they didn't return any of the lower parts that I sent to them; so I'm out a lower parts kits including pistol grip. This lower is also out of spec, the takedown & pivot pin holes are .274 whereas spec is .250 +- .001. At least a trigger will function in it. I have called countless times, to the point that I think they've shut off the phones as it goes straight to voice-mail. I e-mailed with a full page message accounting the entire fiasco, and they have finally replied to one e-mail with "If you would like to send everything back, we will process a refund." I would ship it all back except that I no longer trust them to do the right thing, ever. They still refuse to even call me. I am astounded at how horrible this gun shop is, it's amazing they are still in business; I guess the bar is low in Gilbert, AZ. read more

The fellow that helped me asked a few questions and took care of my issue in a few minutes. He calmly made some other very informative recommendations for a permanent fix. If you are looking for a SOLID AR-15 build. This is one of the best lowers in the industry. I've had several lower receivers, but these guys put the quality in their product. I've bought 3 of their lowers, 2 of which I build SBRs off of. In addition, the price is right! QD also had a few customized options that really allow the AR to be mine (i.e. Laser imprinting and engraving options). Find a quality lower for a better price! I don't think you can.
