An Architect's Review…read more As an architect, I work with contractors on a regular basis and needless to say, I was probably more particular than most when it came to choosing someone to work on my own home. Word of mouth and research led me to ARC / Armando... and I'm glad I went with him! From the beginning, communication was clear and straightforward. We went through the scope of work, my requirements and budget. I had some very basic drawings prepared to communicate my ideas. Along the way, Armando made suggestions to work with my requirements and budget. His pricing was reasonable and, most importantly, he completed the work within the budget we originally agreed upon. Anyone who has done a renovation before knows how easily costs can start creeping up once work begins. That was not my experience here. The scope and budget were established upfront and Armando stuck to them. And this was very important to me as I had no way of accommodating an increase in cost. The work was for a garage renovation, it included interior demo, replacement of an exterior window, addition of a new exterior door, vinyl wood flooring, drywall and installation of a new gypsum ceiling. Work progressed efficiently and to my expectations with no unnecessary delays. Communication throughout the project was excellent, and mostly Armando initiating the conversations to keep me updated. He was also very easy to work with on finishes and hardware. Some items I provided myself while others were sourced by him. Again, he made recommendations to work with my budget while not compromising on quality. Speaking of quality, the quality of the work was exceptional. It has now been over a year since the renovation was completed and everything still looks as good as the day it was finished. Absolutely zero complaints! His attention to detail was very much appreciated. He constantly made suggestions when he felt something could be improved. For example, he suggested a more random tile pattern for the vinyl floor instead of the more regular stagger I had proposed. We went with his suggestion and I am very pleased with it. Armando is knowledgeable, reliable and a pleasure to work with. Coming from someone who deals with contractors professionally all the time, I don't make that recommendation lightly. Definitely highly recommended and he will be my first call for future projects!

Project manager Josef was excellent in bringing in his partners (designers, foreman, etc.) to ensure from the design to finish we were collaborating and satisfied with the end result. For the garage, we had it drywalled (no insulation), installation of a attic ladder (bought from Home Depot) to make use of a pre-built storage area, updated garage door and exterior lighting. Front yard included adding extra pavement to be able to park two cars on the driveway (we have the pre WW II one car driveway) but looks like a part of the front yard design, installation of artificial grass (YAY), redo of the front porch to include redoing the porch ceiling with a bare wood look, and installation of a pathway to the front steps. We had 3 home improvement projects in the last couple of years (including this project) and WTG Builders was the best in terms of responsiveness, communication, and setting expectations. Perhaps I'm more wiser too about projects but I appreciated Project Manager Josef's communication and updates and the various trade teams were fantastic. I also took into consideration their work in the local Long Beach/Lakewood area which I think is important. I would use them again and recommend them for similar projects!

The person who did the work also walked me through design and material options. I originally wanted a Doric-style column, but they recommended a rectangular column using a durable PVC-type material (used for piping) and even reduced the price. I was hesitant, but it turned out to be the right call. They completed the job in one day and the house looks noticeably upgraded. Afterward, I noticed some movement in the railing slats. They explained it's normal since the railing is custom fabricated on site (not one solid piece), and similar to others in the neighborhood. Still, they came back out and glued them at no charge, and now everything feels solid. The finished look is beautiful--neighbors have already asked for referrals. Professional, responsive, and stood behind their work. Would recommend.

I have had prior experience with other contractors who did nothing to protect anything in my house. They showed up and took care of business every day, and they cleaned up after themselves the best they could, which I greatly appreciated. A HUGE plus is Eddie has his own large dump trailer, which made things very easy in keeping things clean and orderly throughout the project. I finally found the best contractor and just had an amazing experience building an 880sqft ADU. From the first day I discussed the project with Sergio the owner, I felt a sense of ease and trust. Segio is a standup guy and a solid business owner. He has excellent knowledge of all types of remodels and new construction. The proposal was clear and straightforward. His estimate was fair and competitive. Also, there were no change-orders for the project. Sergio hates change-orders just as much as we all do. I chose to add a few things throughout the project and his charges were more than fair. He even did some extra things at no charge. As far as the craftsmanship, the team at OSH is excellent from the crew that built the foundation to the plumbing, electrical, drywall, finishes and painting. OSH has a good size team and self performs almost everything, which gives you peace of mind and better control over timing, budget and quality. Now here is the icing on the cake, OSH Construction completed the job ahead of schedule. Sergio provided a schedule that was already very aggressive. I honestly didn't think it is even possible. The entire house was built in less than 5 months. They were often waiting on us to make decisions and select finishes. They are so fast and efficient while providing the best quality craftsmanship. If you hire OSH Construction, have all your ducks in a row and you will have your remodel completed in no time. I highly recommend OSH Construction and Sergio in particular as a contractor. Not going to lie, I was expecting a very steep price. I sent my info on yelp and they responded promptly. They had an option for virtual estimating so I send them some photos, dimensions, and some details. Bereth called me back to ask some follow up questions and then had an estimate ready for me that same day. I was pleasantly surprised with the price but because they never came out to inspect, I was expecting the price to change as we got into it. I contracted them for the job and they scheduled me in. They text me with a confirmation date a week or so out and then text me on that day when they were in their way at the scheduled time they promised. The demo went smooth and their team were professional and left my kitchen clean even though it was demo'd . They scheduled me a week out for the install on the following Friday. We received a calll Thursday with some not so great news but I can confirm, it not their doing and things like that happen. But what I appreciated more was them identifying that there was a slight mismatch in the stone and instead of forcing the install, they called me and told me what they were going to do to make it right. What I thought was going to be a major delay, really was only delayed until Monday. It came out better than we anticipated. They were honest, affordable, professional, clean, and punctual. I would definitely use them again and/or refer them to friends or family.
