Well, actually, I suppose Noble Fish is safe from a sushi defection on my part since it's only five minutes from my humble abode, whereas Wow Sushi is a bit farther afield. But believe me, it's worth a slightly longer drive. I walked in right after they opened at noon on a Saturday, and was immediately greeted and given an entire table to myself instead of having my party of one plunked down at the sushi bar. The service was extremely polite and on the ball. I ordered the D6 Lunch Special, which came with a tasty little cucumber salad and miso soup. Then out came the waiter bearing a tray with an absolutely obscene amount of fish. For someone like myself who has a hollow leg when it comes to delicious sushi, I almost fainted with joy. The lunch special I ordered came with a spicy tuna roll (my favorite) and it was absolutely perfect, with the exact amount of kick to it. Everything else was wonderfully fresh and delicious, including the mini-salad. All for just over $15, which is a steal considering I usually spend over $20 on takeout for myself at Noble Fish. By the time I staggered out, I was already planning my next return visit! The restaurant itself was spick-and-span, with thoughtfully-placed screens between the side tables so my fellow diners couldn't watch as I went through my platter like a starving woman. They weren't busy at all at noon on a Saturday, which was a pleasant surprise, especially considering the location. I would imagine they'd be a bit busier during the week, though. Finally, my favorite thing (aside from the yumminess, of course) was the presentation. Even for a lunch special, the food was beautifully arranged, and even the wasabi was piped out into a pretty little shape, something I've never seen anywhere else. Omg get the calamari roll! Yurp, was the pow cow yum yum. Like this place needs anymore reviews, star rating bump! Best part of this, I had three fried rolls, and didn't feel heavy, full, gut rot after. One crispy eel roll at Kyoto and I'm blown out. The calamari roll was awesome. A picture for every menu item, my kind of place. Legit thought they only had sushi until the person next to me got some gyoza and salad. I then realized there was two menus, and I only looked at the sushi one thinking for some dumb reason the other was wine lol. While i'll still rock Kyoto Monday's for 1/2 off, this place is tied for freshest sushi with my fav Nobel Fish. It's like Nobel Fish without being crammed into a hallway. 2.5 Stars. Sad to say this was a Yelp fail. I try not to give any place a rating this low, but I found its rating to be so inaccurate, that I had to chime in. I am a big sushi fan and this place simply did not cut it. I was truly excited to try this place as it was so well regarded and close to my home. The staff was very polite and the restaurant was nicely decorated. They started us out with a house salad and cucumber salad. The ginger sauce on the house was very tasty, but the lettuce and cucumbers were a bit too old. My wife and I ended up splitting the Tempura Udon, Spider Roll, Rainbow roll and some octopus and eel nigiri. The Udon was pretty good. The noodles were well cooked, but the broth was a little thin and too salty. The Spider Roll was very large, but the quality of the crab was pretty poor. It tasted like they fried it in oil that was way too old. Moreover, I thought the fish was poorly cut and not fresh. Also the octopus they served me looked like it had been thawed in a tub of water and left in way too long. In short, it was a very disappointing experience, and I will stick to Noble Fish or Samurai Sushi. read more

The iniri and egg was a bit on the skinny/small side but the sushi was good. There was a over abundance of the soy sauce so it turned out a salty. With just one visit I guess my experience is "Just Okay Sushi". I have no complaints, and I suppose Sushi always come down to your combination of choices. Maybe another combination would have resulted in a more raving review. My personal complaint, and it is common at similar places, the Coke is can, not Fountain. This of course means no refills. I am sure my fat american butt is so used to refills that it's probably arrogant and wrong of me to be disappointed by it, but alas. I took my niece for sushi here, and by sushi I mean the very predictable and safe California roll. She told me she LOVES sushi, but CA rolls to an eighteen year old is the quintessential roll. We did branch out a bit. They have a large selection of lunch specials ranging from $7.50-$11.50. I order the Roll Combo B which was tempura California and rock'n roll maki. The latter was really yummy and spicy. It was basically a California roll with shrimp and drizzled with a spicy sauce. Of course we also had an order of avocado and regular California rolls. I know, not very adventurous, but all the rolls were very fresh and delicious! We were the only two in there and our server was very sweet. I imagine most people are at work on a Wednesday at 1pm, or avoiding Rochester Road amid all the road work being done. Try not to let the road work keep you from checking this place out. Wow is my lunch break sushi spot and I am overall quite satisfied with it. Excellent lunch specials with combos of rolls, udon, bento boxes and nigiri/sashimi. Great quality sushi for the price, so I often get the nigiri combo. Make sure to dine in if you can because you will get a small salad and miso soup with your combo! I do think the rolls need a little work. I'm not really a California roll person either and that seems to be the most common roll in the combos. They do have a better California roll than most places though which they call the "special" California roll. The snapper is hit or miss. We came into Wow Sushi near closing time one night and the staff was still very nice and courteous to us, which I was thankful for (+1 star!). The sushi here is very solid. I liked the special California roll a lot and we also had an eel roll of some sort that was also very good. The Hawaiian roll sounds great, but I was a little underwhelmed by the actual flavor; this may very well be a matter of personal preference. I would also shy away from their yakitori. I don't think it was grilled, to be honest, which I wouldn't have minded as much if it were at least coated in something flavorful, which it wasn't unfortunately. I consider myself to be a sushi connoisseur, or a guru, if you will. However, I don't venture out of my comfort zone for sushi very often. Once I find a place that makes good sushi, I always come back to it. Whenever I ventured out to eat at other sushi places, I find myself disappointed at the food (Sushi Bon, Ninja Sushi). So when a friend asked me to try this place, I was skeptical. She did give it glowing reviews, so I figured, why not? I've nothing to lose but a little cash and perhaps an empty stomach. We came close to closing time, so they only had rice left for 3 rolls. Understandable, because I used to work at a sushi place and I know how it is when it's been a busy day. So we ordered 3 rolls, salads and an appetizer. The rolls were rolled beautifully, with lots of fish inside (I uploaded a picture). The crab salad and the fried crab stick appetizer was also quite delicious. It was on par with Crazy Sushi, my go-to spot. But it's a little out of the way for me, so I'd only stop here if it's an occasion. I've yet to try the kitchen dishes, but I'm sure if it's anything like the sushi, it'll be good. Good sushi establishment in an area that isn't really a sushi-Mecca. Oedered the seaweed salad and sashimi deluxe. Seaweed salad was your standard, pre-packaged fare. Sashimi was quite large with a nice selection of fish; tuna, yellow tail, butterfish, mackeral, salmon, snapper and shrimp. It also had unagi (egg) and fake crab meat (which I would have passed on, at least it was only one piece). The fish was very fresh and the unagi had the correct semi-sweet flavor of Japanese omelets. She also enjoyed what she got. The only thing that bothered me some was the lady/hostess who welcomed us in and gave us our menu, it was clearly noticeable how mundane it was for her. Although there wasn't many people in the restaurant when we first got there she lacked a likable personality and in all honesty, dampened the atmosphere/environment. When eating out, I want to enjoy it all, the atmosphere, the food, and the service. I want to come in, eat happy, and leave happy so service is important to me.
