Also, I thought I'd need soy sauce, but no way, this bowl is plenty flavorful without soy sauce! Much better than another poke place I've had recently in OC. However portions are not consistent but that can be easily fixed... Aside from that, this place rocks! This place is The lunch spot! The fish I heard from them are prepared every day so trust the freshness :) I had the poke bowl with white rice. This place is amazing! The food is great, and a great value. The staff is gracious and accommodating. My regular order is a rice bowl with spicy tuna and the fixings are completely customizable. The portions are quite generous. They do get a "lunch rush" so if you are interested in avoiding a bit of a line go before or after the noon hour. All bowls are made fresh and to order so the line moves accordingly. But even with a line, the food is totally worth it. read more

The fish was really fresh & the staff was really nice. .. They did not over-sauce. cOns.. .. The location is a tad hard to find & the store itself is really small. However, I think they cater to employees of the surrounding businesses who might not mind. .. The portion sizes were a bit on the skimpy side. .. There were 2 chefs simultaneously preparing your food (one chef doing steps 1 & 2 while the other chef did steps 3 to 5). This caused for some confusion as they kinda talked over each other. mOre.. .. It's like the foodie gods were listening when I prayed for a Chipotle style poke joint in my neighborhood (the only other one that I know of is Pokinometry in Anaheim). There is always a long line during lunch hour, but it goes quickly, since they have their poke bowl assemnby line down to a fine art. The ingredients are all perfection. I can't imagine any poke bowl better than this one. They are open until 6 pm, so I recommend going right after work to avoid the long lunch lines. read more

I am in love with this place! My go-to for fresh and affordable poke bowls. Love that they do not charge for avocado. It is very small so I recommend ordering for pick up. The ordering system is a bit confusing with so many employees working behind the counter and passing your bowl down the line without making it clear to you who is supposed to be helping you. My mom and I kept talking to the wrong people confused about who was making our food, instead of indicating to us who was actually helping us the employees just looked at us blankly. Let me start by saying Wow Bento doesn't serve any bentos... wow. The place is small and for lunch the line is literally out the door. Service is fast, they are pretty staffed. I had the poke salad in "spicy" sauce which wasn't spicy at all. Fish quality is great but sauce lacks flavor. Overall I think their poke is just ok, wouldn't go out of my way. Southern California is crawling with poke places and this happens to be right near my work. I trying out new poke joints to just compare the sauces, restaurant atmosphere, and freshness of the fish. First Impression: This restaurant is located in a random industrial lot, hidden away from the main streets. The only reason why my co-workers and I knew where it was was for the large "POKE" flag on the sidewalk. I'm sure if that flag helps 99% of their customers because they are honestly hidden away from the public eye. The overall restaurant is extremely small and it gets very crowded during lunch time. I would say 4 people can fit in the restaurant before the line stretches out the door. So it is very tiny. The restaurant has some indoor seating but sitting in there is a bit claustrophobic because there are so many workers and there is always a line. There is plenty of seating outside. There is a cute patio area with straw umbrellas. The poke itself was actually really fresh and filling. It was $8 was a regular bowl and 3 choices of fish. It comes with avocado, crabmeat and the choice of masago/ green onions/ginger/wasabi. The menu is quite simplistic and the sauce options are either not spicy, mild, or spicy. I was wtaching the guy make my bowl and seemed to put a lot more different sauces on top of the mild sauce I chose. Maybe sesame oil and lemon juice? Whatever it was was delicious and worked. The base options are spring mix, brown rice, or white rice--pretty standard. This is a pretty average poke place with fresh fish for a decent price. For under $9 you get a really filling meal. Tried this place out for the first time today cause I couldn't decide on what I wanted to eat (again) found this place while I was driving down Rockfield. It's a hidden spot, very small but clean. It's pretty much a Japanese chipotle haha. You walk in and there's instructions on the wall, you pick your price, veggies, fish, sauce and toppings all for $8! Oh, that's for the poke bowl. Everything was fresh and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! It was delish and the perfect size for lunch. I'll definitely be coming back to try the poke wrap and nachos! read more

This little hole-in-the-wall is my go-to Poke place. You can order online and pick up, which is awesome, since it's quite small and the line has always been out of the door when I go to grab my food. Also, you can save your order so that it's easy to re-order it the next day... and the day after that... etc. Crab meat and avo don't cost extra!!! Which is pretty much the best thing ever, since most of those "build your own poke bowl" places charge like $2 for a slice of avocado. I love this place. It is my favorite poke place. Fish tastes pretty fresh and their poke and poke wraps taste really good. However I have three reasons for not rating it 5 stars. 1. Customer service not the best. Owner/manager lacks politeness. She is not rude but she NEVER smiles or greets regulars. 2. Last time I was there there was a big fly flying around and she wouldn't really care for making sure it went outside. She could've ordered her cleaner guy to do so, but she didn't. I got grossed out cause it was flying near the food. 3. That guy of her who focuses on keeping the place clean started sweeping while she was preparing my food. I got so pist and so bothered because he was doing this without them covering the food. And let me tell you, there was ALOT of dirt/dust flying around. It was so gross. TIP: Be CLEAN and cover your food if you're gonna do that. You can also do that before you close the store and all the food has been put away. GROSS. read more

They tend to get the online order wrong, so BE SURE TO CHECK your food at the spot. I know it defeats the purpose of ordering online and leaving right away. Okay. I'm a fan. It's one of the best poke bowls I've had in the states. What keeps it from a 5 star is that they either don't put enough fish or they charge too much. After tax you're looking at $8.50 so for that price point I'm wanting to see more fish... However what I'd prefer is for it to cost $6.75 and allow an extra fish charge for $1.50. Also it's weird how they do the wasabi in togo containers at the end when you choose it for one of the options during the order process... You're left wondering for a long time if they are ever going to put wasabi in your bowl.. You'll see when you try it. Either way. 4 stars. It was great! read more

I really like this place. It is similar to Pokinometry, but it's much closer to where I live. The hours make it really hard for me to come here as often as I would like, since they're only open on weekdays til 3 and I have work all day. Overall, it's been pretty good every time I've gone. I always just get a poke bowl. The very first time I went and ate inside, the manager came out and gave me a free nacho piled high with poke. It was great. He also took some time to talk to me and ask how everything was. The other time's I've been here, it hasn't been too crowded. There's only been maybe one or two people in front of me, but the line moves fast anyway. However, the only reason I'm taking one star off is on Fridays, since they aren't open on weekends, they run out of things. I went at about 1:30 on a Friday. At that time, they had run out of white rice, most of their varieties of fish, and most of their ginger. read more

Wow Bento offers a stellar food quality and at a great price. The fish is fresh and are melt-in-your-mouth morsels! The lines can be long, but all for good reason -- this place can't be beat and its popular throughout Irvine. Don't let this discourage you though, they go quick and you're in and out in under 10 minutes usually, tops. Workers are expedient, kind ---there its always service with a smile.
