You have to sit at the tables in front of the restaurant to order and to receive food... not at the tables in the courtyard 10 feet away. That makes a hard one. One person wants to get food from one place and the other person wants to eat something else and then eat together.. the waitress is very pushy also with my wife and that ain't happening so I do not recommend this place at all read more

As far as sushi spots close to me, Ozen has to me my favorite for consistency and portion sizes. They always give large quantities of fish in their rolls, and they have a great selection to choose from. Everything is always fresh and tasty. This spot can get a bit busy, so I must not be the only person who comes here often. Service is always ok, nothing to rave about from my experience. Sometimes it can feel a bit crowded inside, but it's worth it. They also have good happy hour deals! read more

It's a the food court in Foothill Ranch, but it's surprisingly good. They have both indoor and outdoor seating so it's great for any size group. They have lunch and daily specials so it is affordable as well as good. I love that they have various Japanese dishes besides sushi such as udon. I've been going to this restaurant for about a year now, and it's one of my favorite places because it's close to my house and always consistent. On weekends, they have live music on the outdoor patio, which makes the atmosphere really nice and relaxing. The food is very good and they have a great variety - not only sushi. Bento box lunch comes with your choice of California roll or tempura. Quite tasty. I got the sashimi bento box with California roll and I had so much leftovers large amount of food for a good price. Good bang for your buck. Of all the spots at Foothill Town Center... this one seems to be getting the most foot traffic. They have daily specials and combos that are unbelievably cheap. The dinner bentos range from $16-18, we normally get the pork cutlet and the beef teriyaki. Comes with your choice of California roll (8 pcs) or tempura. Salad, rice, miso soup, & 2 pcs of gyoza. For apps, we like the cucumber salad, edamame, & the baked mussels. They also have sushi combos for $14-20. We usually get the CA roll + crunch roll + spicy tuna hand roll combo. Great service. The sushi was pretty good! I wouldn't get the ramen again. Honestly instant Jin or Shin ramen are better and more affordable. The ramen had little flavor and the veggies in it were fine. The service was a bit strange. The 2 people working seemed very nice, but after serving the food we were left alone. All we wanted was the check to leave, but we couldn't get their attention. I was on a work trip and was looking for something to eat for lunch. I found this sushi place on yelp. When I entered the restaurant I was greeted by staff who found me a seat immediately. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I ordered the gyoza and the dragon roll. The gyoza was cooked to perfection and the filling was delicious. The sauce that came with it was the perfect combination with the gyoza. The star of the show was the dragon roll. The sushi was rolled perfectly and the meat, cucumber, avocado and the eel sauce were phenomenal. The portion size was great and you get a lot of food for a reasonable price. The ginger and the soy sauce went great with the sushi. The ambiance is customer friendly. This location of Ozen Sushi is part of the Food Festival Food Court in Foothill Ranch. They offer indoor seating and there is also plenty of patio seating outside in the food court. Not being a sushi lover nor liking seafood in general I agreed to eat here with a sushi-loving friend once I saw a handful of teriyaki offerings. I ordered the beef teriyaki bento which, along with pieces of beef, included rice, salad, 2 gyoza, and tempura veggies & shrimp. Yeah, my friend grabbed the shrimp. The bento came with a delicious miso soup. It was a lot of food for the price, a good deal, but the food was average. The beef pieces were a mix of textures, some tender some a bit chewy. The rice and salad were fine. I thought the tempura veggies were excellent while the gyoza were simply "okay". I ordered an Arnold Palmer to drink. Not sure if it was the lemonade or iced tea but something tasted weird. Avoid this beverage here. It was a decent meal at a good price for what you'd expect at a food court. read more

The ambiance is no frills, but what do you want for a food court type setup? The menu is large but felt like it leaned a lot on fried/tempura battered items. My daughter really enjoyed her udon noodles, which came in a gigantic serving, and I thought my dragon roll tasted fresh and very well made. My husband got a sushi dinner and was blown away by the generous portions of fish, especially the salmon. It looked gorgeous. The pieces were huge and very well made. This was our first time trying Ozen! It wasn't too busy when we went in around 6pm on a Saturday, but it did start to fill out around 7ish, so make reservations accordingly :) We had to start our meal off with some sushi before we got into the rolls, and were pleasantly surprised by the thick cuts of fish. Worst bento box and worst service ever. This was my second time hoping that maybe I just had a meal on an off day for the restaurant but this was the second try. They failed my order and the quality of the food was disgustingly fried steak in a gross or expired oil. It was super bad and the so called salad was just green lettuce not a salad with sauce on top. Everything and I mean everything was gross. The waitress said everything ok? And she saw almost all the food on the plate and I let her know the food was bad and she took away the plates and brought the receipt with the full bill. Worst waitresses on both occasions. Sake Chefs are super friendly, fast and it goes to same for well experienced waitresses ( they've been there for last 10+ years) never missed my orders even though busy hours. I meant never and ever. To be honest, you'll fell in love with the guy who looks like Jackie Chan. : ) Don't worry. When you see the guy, you can tell who I'm talking about. He is loud and funny. I have never written a review on Yelp before, but my recent experience at Ozen Sushi in Lake Forest was the worst I've ever had, so I feel compelled to share it. I couldn't agree more with the other reviews regarding the customer service. The young waitress who attended our table was extremely rude. When I asked her to clarify something on the menu, she seemed "pissed" that I needed clarification. Providing that kind of assistance is part of her job. If she is so unhappy to be there, she should consider working elsewhere. What I don't understand is why the staff was so unfriendly when we came in with a positive attitude and tried to be nice despite their initial rudeness. If you're in customer service, you should be prepared to provide a good experience. My friend treated me to dinner, and I wished she hadn't left a tip at all. A tip is not an obligation; it's given for good to great service. As for the food, it wasn't impressive either. We would have been better off at In-N-Out--cheaper, tastier food, and great service! I also noticed that even the chefs behind the counter seemed depressed. There were no smiles or "thank yous," unlike the other Japanese restaurants I've been to. Onion rings (onion tempura)! I really like their yellow-tail roll and spicy crunchy roll. But most of all, I like their onion tempura. I'm big on any kind of onion rings, and I find O-zen's onion tempura to be the best. It has great onion-to-batter ratio with thick slices of onion, and it's always fried to perfection. I also like the miso soup. To Ozen-sushi, I think if you add "Onion Rings" to your menu, it might sell well, especially with the football season approaching. read more

Ordered sushi to go from here because I had always seen this spot on yelp. I ordered a rainbow roll, different types of nigiri, California, crunch roll and avocado roll. The fish did not taste fresh at all. Probably one of the worst sushi I've had :/ my nigiri also came messy as if they just threw it in the box. The rice was not under the fish.
