I've been going to Yogis for 10+ years at this point and they consistently serve the best takeout sushi and poke bowls. The salmon is never fishy or low quality. The portions are consistent with the size description and the price. The service is typically pretty quick, especially for carry out. The restaurant space itself is clean, albeit a little crowded with tables and chairs, but it's never felt like an issue when I've dined in. And the owner has been there every single time I've visited, which signals to me that he cares a lot about his business and the quality of food being prepared. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Yogis if you want quick, consistently fresh and tasty sushi at a reasonable price. read more

My family and I have been coming here for 10+ years. The food is always fresh and delicious. My favorite is the Katsu chicken plate. One of my favorite dishes in south OC. Highly recommend checking it out. Their sushi rolls are really good, and the atmosphere is chill. The owners are so kind and handle a busy restaurant well. Add this spot to your list. read more

Same situation as my previous review. This time was actually worse as I walked in to an open restaurant at 10:58 and was met with surprise and once again, was told oh 11 we open. The employees looked absolutely shocked that a person was there. Seriously, 2 freakin minutes? I understand maybe the register might have a time restriction but you can't at least get my order going? If you are not open to the public and taking orders then LOCK YOUR DOORS. The food is decent-ish but the service is absolute crap. And the place is disgusting. Go anywhere else except here. read more

Eating at Yogis Grill is like eating at your parents' house. The ingredients are fresh and each serving is prepared with love. The owner spends five hours making the secret teriyaki sauce daily, and the superiority of gourmet cooking shines compared to other fast food restaurants' large batch process. My poke bowl was creamy and the sauce infuses every bite with flavor. The fish was plentiful and fresh, and the bowl has more fish than rice. It's got just enough medium spiciness to keep things interesting without masking the taste of the food. Even though I ordered the regular-sized bowl, I was thoroughly satisfied by the time I reached the bottom of the bowl. The dining area isn't big, but I didn't feel cramped eating my poke. The owner came out and talked to us about how the business weathered the pandemic and the sub-prime loan crisis. They're still going strong, but they appreciate your support and love. Treat yourself with some home-cooking and leave with a sense of nostalgia for your childhood--unless you're still a child, of course. read more

Decent quality take out sushi and Japanese food. Has been consistent for years. A 3+ star restaurant. Subtract 1+ star for the 20 something check out person that had his back to all of their customers for the 30 minutes that I was there for. Choosing to EAT in front of customers while talking to kitchen staff and ignoring customers. Even when he did talk to customers (who saw that their order was up and just sitting there as he socialized), asking him to please complete their transactions, he spoke with his back to them because he was so focused on completing his chit-chat with fellow employees in the kitchen. If he's not interested in the job, it would be a service to your customers to put someone else in that position that was more responsive and respectful. This probably ranks among the most tasteless joke of a food. The chicken has smokey smell but that is the entire taste. The closest thing that comes to mind is smoked cardboard. Rice is sticky gooey. read more

Whoever took my daughter's order today was so appallingly unprofessional. He embarrassed her and was super loud for everyone to hear just because she wanted her rice without the sauce for her poke bowl. I will never recommend this place to anyone after today. She called me and was so upset! Shame on whoever was taking her order!! Soo unprofessional!! And to top it off, whoever made the bowl STILL added the sauce when she specifically said she didn't want the sauce on her rice. Terrible customer service. read more

I had been a regular customer for years. One thing I like (or liked) was that they have a buy 2, get one 1 free special on California rolls on the weekends. Lately I went there several weekends for the special for me and my wife for takeout. Although maybe not how you're supposed to eat California rolls, my wife likes to dip hers in teriyaki sauce. During my last visit, the gentleman who is always there (I think he's the owner) charged me a dollar for one little plastic cup of teriyaki sauce that he always used to give me for free (its a condiment!) and probably costs him a penny, if that. He gives it out for free when he sells chicken/beef bowls and other dishes. I think he was being really cheap and it's not the right way to treat a long-time customer. I haven't been back since, and I don't really have a desire to go back anytime soon. read more

After reading reviews my wife and I decided to try Yogis. We ordered the beef teriyaki bowl, chicken teriyaki bowl and 3 egg rolls. It was hands down the worst teriyaki ever. We ended up throwing it away after just a few bites. Both bowls tasted like burnt charcoal bites. We will not be returning. read more

Never had a bad experience here. The owner recognizes my order all the time. Very friendly staff. The gyoza reminds me of what I used to get at one Japanese restaurant in Sacramento. The vegetable tempura is consistent and not a globby mess of batter. Their bowls are delicious and for being fast food their rolls are very good. Since living in Lake Forest I've been here at least once or twice a week. read more

This place is extremely underrated! They have great value on different rice bowls and sushi rolls. The older gentleman who seemed to be in charge was on his cell phone, looked at us, didn't acknowledge us or say Hello. He stiod there and then walked away to the back. What a crap way to greet your customers. Guess they don't need our business or appreciate us. Crunchy Roll and California roll were with soggy rice. They were not busy at all, it was only us and 2 other customers. And the bathrooms were incredibly dirty. 5% discount if you pay cash. Not a fan. read more

Not the best place for sushi. A bit bland and not much for the price. Thier menu pics make it look soon much better than it is. Teriyaki is good but nothing special. Extra star to support local businesses but ditch the sushi and put the money into improving teriyaki bowls. Wow no napkins... honestly, the supermarket sushi tastes better :/ After finishing it I'm so unhappy. Wasted 20 dollars on blandest sushi I've ever had. :( read more

Weekend special is really sweet. Buy 2 rolls get one free. Although you gotta make sure you get the right value (I.e. don't order a California roll). Overall much better than grocery store sushi and service is quick and easy. I'll be back. read more

The quality of food is so so. The large beef bowl is extremely overpriced for what you get. $15 The bowl is 3/4 rice and a little dab of meat on top then The owner tries to guilt trip you into leaving a tip. read more

Stuck inside cause of the craziness going on with CIVIT-19? Craving sushi but don't have the means to make it? No worries, Yogi's grill has got you covered. Bf and I were having a craving and was thrilled to find out they were open. Yogis is available through Postmates and Uber eats. We opted to do our own pick up so at least the business will be able to keep more of their cut. Plus it was honestly cheaper for us. Saved $60 by doing our own pick up, and we were able to get their deal. Man on the phone offered us buy 2 rolls get 1 free. Sushi was great. Bf's favorite had been the Mexican Roll (avocado, siracha, and spicy California roll). Mine was definitely the Rock and Roll (cucumber roll, filled with imitation crab, tuna, salmon, and I believe albacore or yellowtail) super refreshing. Also was a big fan of the Salmon Lover roll (tempura shrimp with spicy tuna, avocado, cilantro, wrapped and topped with salmon, crispy shallots, and spicy mayo). So much flavor with this roll. Help support your local businesses and yourself to some good sushi rolls! read more

The sushi was supposed to be 8 pieces on Uber eats. I am counting 6. that's cheating. I called and they said they "changed it long time ago". Not good enough of an excuse because even the Yelp menu doesn't disclose the correct number of pieces. Food was ok so giving it 2 stars. We go to Yogi's grill for the teriyaki chicken bowls/plates! The people who work there are always nice and professional. We have ordered for pick up & via third party delivery as well with no issues! Portions and prices are fair, and you might even snag yourself a good deal if you want to take advantage of some of their daily deals! During our recent visit, we ordered the teriyaki chicken bowl, teriyaki chicken plate, and got a California roll w/the Monday deal. The roll was okay - not bad but nothing special, but probably wouldn't order it again. We have tried a few other things on their menu over the years, but the one thing that keeps us coming back is their teriyaki chicken. The meat is consistently moist and well marinated, and the teriyaki sauce that comes with it is delicious! Worth a visit if you are having a teriyaki chicken craving! read more

The order processing for peak hours (6pm on a Saturday) was about an hour, but on my most recent visit, my pickup order was delayed by about 30 minutes, pushing it to 90 minutes. It was frustrating for me, but I think it can be even more frustrating for Door Dash drivers since they're paid per delivery and long, unexpected waits can throw off their entire queue and earnings for the night. I do want to commend their customer service, though. They have always been great dining in, but this time, they could tell people were frustrated and genuinely tried to reshuffle orders and adjust priorities. Overall, improving order flow and wait-time forecasting would make a noticeable difference!

It was honestly disturbing and completely ruined my appetite. There was no warning or explanation, and it felt careless and unhygienic rather than "fresh" or authentic. Because of that experience, I couldn't enjoy the meal at all. The atmosphere and service didn't help either it felt rushed and unwelcoming, with no effort to make guests comfortable. I left feeling uneasy and disappointed, and I will not be returning or recommending this place. There are many sushi restaurants that focus on freshness without making customers uncomfortable, and this unfortunately is not one of them.

It's simple and classic, especially if you love salmon. The chicken katsu was really good and I enjoyed dipping it in the curry. They don't offer potatoes or carrots in their curry sauce like some other Japanese restaurants do, which was a small disappointment, but I still really liked the curry. It had that "spicy" but not spicy flavor that comes from all the flavorful spices like ginger that are in the curry, but it wasn't hot (we ordered mild). The chicken katsu was a good portion side and it came with a side of rice and angel hair shredded cabbage. Cabbage isn't the most exciting vegetable, but I'll take it. The shrimp tempura was great too. The takeout bag was packaged really nicely and the katsu came in a fancy little box, so even though we were eating at home it felt a little more upscale. But the prices were pretty on par with other sushi restaurants around here, so it's definitely affordable!

The cheese tonkotsu was honestly pretty heavy, lots lots of cheese. Honestly, I wouldn't get it again since I didn't feel like I got much meat simply because of how much cheese there was. I'm sure there was pork, it just felt like an extension of the breading. Every order off the main course section of the menu (fried things) come with miso soup, a side salad, and pickled side dishes that are extremely refreshing. Pork over Chicken for sure.

Nothing fancy here to see, just a local mom & pop type sushi joint, which we are fans of! We were seated right away in one of the few areas inside. Everything was clean and bright. a little warm inside as it was a hot day and they had the door open, with a breeze. I saw one sushi chef that greeted us and he was making the rolls and dishes at the front. I ordered a hot sake and it was super hot and really good. We also got a few rolls, which were all delicious, a salmon skin hand roll - the salmon was on the chewy side and a little cold, and the agadashi tofu, which had a lovely dipping marinade. The fish on the rolls were nice fat pieces, and so fresh and yummy. Next time will have to try some nigiri.
