The food looked very unappetizing. I didn't even eat it. I didn't even ask for a refund. I just tossed it in the trash and bought something else. This was at the Regan airport location, American airlines terminal.
"Wow," what a surprise for an airport meal, really delicious. I had the combo with Teriyaki Chicken and 2 buns. It was a lot and I probably could have done with just one bun. However, since I'd never been, I wanted to try the two main options with the combo. Great flavors in the Teriyaki Chicken. Was nice to have a bun to "sop" up the juices afterwards. I mixed with the 2 buns having one pork and one beef. They were both tasty and had plenty of meat in the bun. I think I liked the pork better. Really great service, I usually get the name. They don't have table side service but do have plenty of theor own seating. The person who took my order was really helpful in helping me navigate the process and even make solid recommendations. Kudos there! Definitely check them out if you are near gate 38 with American as I was.

The outside was almost spongy.(3 stars). The chicken dumplings were alright for airport food. The rice was wet almost like it was made in microwave. The staff was very short with me and seemed annoyed to take my order. Not worth the price at all, Try five guys next door.
Honestly, I liked this spot a lot more than I thought I would. I needed something quick and easy before my flight since I was cutting it really close on time. They were out of the bbq pork bao which I was sad about, but I opted for the egg, spinach, and mushroom as well as a spicy mongolian beef instead. Definitely not flavors I'm used to seeing in bao, but they sounded delicious anyways. The bao themselves were quite small, but actually quite good. The egg, spinach, and mushroom one was just as you'd expect -- classic breakfast flavors. The spicy mongolian beef was really interesting. It was certainly quite spicy, and there was a nice mix of meat and veggies inside. For both bao the bread was nicely soft and fluffy, and overall a solid place for a quick bite.
The dumplings were DELICIOUS! The teriyaki bowl was good! A bit greasy, but overall very good for airport fast food. Bao looked and smelled good. My co worker liked them!
Among a cluster of decent food places at the end of Terminal C, this stood out to me. Rice bowls, bao dumplings, and potstickers, mmm. I had a combo with a bowl and 2 bao. Curry chicken bowl was tiny, and that plus 2 bao plus a canned Thai coffee was $20. But, airport prices are always silly, and I wanted something light anyway. The bowl was tasty, with perfect rice, plenty of chicken, and some veggies. I got coconut custard bao. They were fair sized, with dense dough and a nice filling. The iced coffee was good, but almost warm, so I asked for a cup of ice. All in all a good meal. Plus there are plenty of places to sit, and most have changing spots. Service was friendly and fast.
Wow Bad. It's hard to find good airport food. Prices also are never in line with quality. Here is an example of each. The good thing is that portions are small so less food will get tossed. I had the Green Vegetable Dumplings. It's about $5 for the small portion. This is indeed quite a small portion. In the box were only a couple of modestly sized dumplings. The dumplings amazingly weren't so terrible. It was okay thanks to the side of sauce. This is where most of the flavor was. Inside of the dumplings were not much. There appeared to be tiny pieces of tofu but mostly some minced unidentifiable assorted vegetables. Outside the dumplings were dry and hard. The sauce helped kind of. This still wasn't as bad as it could be. It did have a bit of flavor. There's also places to plug in your phone and sit.
I didn't have the best impression at Wow Bao so I'm not sure I'll return next time I'm in DCA. I got their 8 piece vegetable dumplings which were around $8-9. They were literally falling apart when I got them, so it was hard to take a bite without all the filling getting out. It also did not taste great. The tables and chairs were also really dirty and not well maintained, with crumbs and crusty sauce everywhere so I ended up eating at my gate. Worst of all, I was still hungry after the dumplings so I grabbed more food elsewhere later.
I'm so sorry to leave this review yall. I really wanted to give the place a chance. I ordered a bowl/bao combo several months ago, and was disappointed to discover I had not received the Bao. that was the whole point... the combo was simply ordered to satiate me if I didn't like the soup dumpling. honestly, I was drinking upon eating my first order so I do not actually remember the quality of the king pao dish at the first go. what I can tell you is that today I have it another go. And to my delight I did receive the two bao with my order this time. unfortunately they forgot the entire order of potstickers. as for the bso--I ordered two fillings. I got the Mongolian beef and the teriyaki chicken. The beef one was hard on the outside and dry on the inside. The teriyaki was pretty good, but the crust was a bit soggy. Seems like you have two options: too wet or too dry. The king pao chicken was edible. I added some sweet and sour and soy sauce to make the flavor somewhat worth my time. Sorry to sound pretentious but it was just that bad. I didn't see any of the typical king pao ceggies and the flavor was off. Yes it was spicy but it somehow lacked the robustness of a savory flavor and the complement of a sweet ingredient. I ate it. I'm full, and I'll die another day. But hot damn, this food is pretty bad.
Aside from the lack of flavor, the portion size does not equate to the price. Rather spend 8.99 for a frozen meal at grocery store.
With my flight being delayed 4 times and being here for a while at the dca airport I got hungry and decided to give this place a shot. I ordered the combo with 3 dumplings which came out to be $16.49. I got the orange chicken with rice and the chicken dumplings, the dumplings were so delicious! But the orange chicken was not great... wasn't my cup of tea and well I ended up throwing out basically half because it just made my stomach more upset. I always read reviews on Yelp before going to a place but I decided to ignore and go ahead and try it out. Yea I've learned my lesson.
I normally don't write bad reviews but I can't believe I paid $16 for this "Orange chicken" ... not even sure what the meat is because it's super dark brown, the sauce is not orange sauce, it's more like a slimy chicken noodle soup... just gross :( Staff was so nice but this food is YUCK !!!!

Okay, well, I think other reviewers drastically misestimate how much they are spending on these rice bowls. I just spent $13.79 on a Teriyaki Rice Bowl. Was it good? No. Was it terrible? No. Yes, the serving size is small, but there is a good amount of real chicken in the "slop" and the customer service is as friendly as they can be while still moving people along. It's an airport so it's loud and they need to serve a lot of people. I'm not looking to repeat this experience, but it's not the worst you can do in an airport. read more

reviews are right that it's expensive and the chicken teriyaki has like no chicken but the flavor was pretty good. i was hungry and it kinda hit the spot. was a little freaked out abi it airport chicken teriyaki but its kinda gas. just wish it had more chicken. can't really do much about the airport pricing though read more
I came here today to get a quick lunch before catching a flight. They have five or so different bowl options, like teriyaki chicken and Kung pao chicken, along with vegetarian bowls and bao. I ordered a kung pao chicken combo, which came with 3 bao (I chose chicken). I enjoyed the Kung pao sauce, although I felt there should have been more of it as the rice was pretty dry in contrast. The chicken bao had absolutely zero flavor. Like, I ate one and thought maybe just that one was off--nope, basically like eating air. The dipping sauce that accompanied the bao tasted like ginger and not much else. I would definitely not get the bao again, although the bowl was pretty good. They also had a nice ginger soda, which I appreciated. The bowl was a 4 and the bao were a 2, so it's a meh for me. read more
Wasn't Wowed. While dough was squishy, the steamed dumplings were dense and didn't have the light and fluffy texture that I was hoping for. The fillings aren't fresh as I saw a server pour a processed mixture of scrambled egg and spinach from a liquidity bag. The breakfast Scrambled Egg, Spinach, and Mushroom were a disappointing, while my hubby thought the Egg, Bacon, and Cheese dumpling was okay. The DC airport terminal location offers a pared down menu with a limited selection of dumplings, no potstickers, noodle bowls, or salads. While I appreciate diversity at airports, Wow Bao just doesn't have the "Wow" factor. read more
Inspired to eat here by the Oscar nominated Pixar short film "Bao". That, and it was right next to my gate between flights. I got the 6 Bao sampler, with 5 different meats (beef, chicken and pork), some spicy, one curry plus one with creamy coconut filling. Flavors were good, the dough was a little bit too thick and "bready", the first two were perfect temperature and moisture, by the time I got to the 5th and 6th, the magical steam had vanished, the dough was a bit cold and sticking to the paper underneath. So you must eat quick or share and enjoy them in their optimum state: warm, a bit moist and soft. Overall, very fulfilling, service is super fast, tables have outlets to charge your electronics. read more

I hardly ever have a layover here in this Reagan International terminal, and when I do, I prefer to go for the AWESOME pizza at Pizza &, but it was CLOSED already at around 7:30pm (!!) when we arrived at the terminal. Crazy, IMO, to close restaurants that early in a bustling airport terminal, but what can you do?!? I had "fast food" time, but not enough time to be waited on at a sit down restaurant (there's a tempting bar-grill choice here, can't remember the name...) and there's a 5 Guys, but they're toooooooo greasy, so went with Wow Bao, and was not disappointed. The Bao are steamed buns, and they're filling and delicious!! Tempting choices, though somewhat limited, as they were out of a few "bao" at the end of the day. Went with teriyaki chicken, spicy Mongolian beef, and Thai curry chicken. You place your order, and then are called to the area behind the register a few minutes later to pick up. My bao were good, quick and hot, but truthfully, all tasted sort of the same... If I had more time, or pass through here again, I might mix it up with the equally tempting bowls or dumplings. A great choice for a quick, satisfying, reasonably priced meal/snack if you've got a layover (and the WONDERFUL pizza place is closed already...) in Terminal C. Yum!! read more

Dinner at the airport was less than average. Usually I would assume chicken teriyaki would have some chicken and vegetables, but this dish had about two tiny carrot slices and a chicken teriyaki sauce that tasted like it came from a can and was left on the stove all day. If I had known, I probably would have just gotten the vegetable teriyaki rice bowl. The bao was interesting; the only thing that was kind of tasty was the coconut bao. It was definitely a dessert. I would probably skip Wow Bao in the future and find something with a little more nutritional value next time. read more

Landed at the airport and was a first time visitor to this tiny restaurant. Decided to eat at the airport since I knew I'd be stuck with expensive and mediocre hotel food upon arrival for my biz trip. My combo meal of a teriyaki chicken rice bow and 3 gyoza was the best comfort food. Hearty but not heavy, gyoza was steamed, not fried. It was good enough that I decided to eat there again when I flew back home! This time I switched the gyoza for 2 bbq pork hum bao. read more

The napkins have more appeal than the food here. I ordered and immediately received my food which I thought was odd until I opened it and saw....slop. It really looks like this food was made in a prison cafeteria. The portion is tiny for $20 and it doesn't even taste like Teriyaki chicken. I hate wasting food but had to throw it away and buy something else. read more

Got the $8.49 fried rice. I'm not sure you can call it fried rice, it was more like rice soaked in soy sauce and left to steam for 8 hours. It was all mushy and for $8.49, it wasn't much. They actually weighed the rice on scale and it took about 5 or 6 scoops to get the precise weight. Best to avoid ordering the "fried" rice. On the plus side, people were nice. read more

Utterly disgusting! Horrible price point but you can expect it at an airport setting. The orange chicken was putrid. No chicken and all sticky orange soup. I had to throw away immediately. You can tell the employees don't care and we're obviously just trying to go home early. Pick one of the other wonderful options at DCA and AVOID Wow Bao AT ALL COSTS! read more
BLUF: Quick service and some bomb baos! Tried the pork and the thai curry bao. Definitely refreshing and satisfied Also they offer military discount Stopping by in DC for a layover and was crazing some Asian food. Looked at this little place in the airport and immediately SPARKS JOY! I haven't had bao in the longest time so I'm glad we bumped into this place. Quick bite to eat and fast service. Over priced for a very shallow bowl of half white rice and half sticky gunk, which could be stickier and gunkier for half the price down the street at a Chinese restaurant. read more
