What Would Brian Boitano Do? Anyone that knows me knows I am a regular Brian Boitano on the ice. In fact, many people at the World Ice Arena were asking me if I was Brian Boitano. On the last ask, I had to concede that I was not as I was lifting my ass up off the ice after an awkward spill. Truth be told, this week was my first time ever on the ice and I must say I didn't do too bad and was feeling on my way to confident towards the end. There are all skill levels on the ice during open skating so you will find many of the beginners hugging the edge of the rink. I did so for my 1st 15min or so then my low key road "impatience" kicked in and I found myself swerving and passing the slow pokes. I couldn't go too fast considering the sizeable group on the ice. The ice itself does get cut up pretty well during a session. They Zamboni the ice every 1.5 hr it seems - they will clear the ice for about 10-15 min to complete the resurfacing. The ice is great right after this, but a few min later the cuts and groves take hold. The prices are still reasonable currently $12 to walk through the door. If you have your own skates then you save a $6 rental fee (currently). There are lockers for $.75 which unfortunately many people don't use seeing the amount of gear all over the benches. The snack bar is no longer open - there are some vending machines. The rugs and mats tend to be wet, understandably, but they had a worker cleaning throughout the day. You got skate host WALKING to injured people on the ice. I've literally seen someone break there wrist and had to call the zamboni driver over to WALK on ice to assist a seriously injured person. I've seen priorities change for the worst in this place. Skating school for younger children are what's most prioritized during public session hours which does nothing but create over crowded sessions for regulars or generally those that want to practice on their own. Some rink operational staff there are rude teenagers, others are much more mature and respectful it's almost like you have to pick your poison with you interact with. Above all rules are rules but if you think these rules are set in place to help the environment of ALL ice skaters unfortunately World Ice is not the place anymore. read more

World ice arena is a good spot to go if you simply wanna ice skate and that is it. There are some benches to sit but they are mostly used for taking on and off your skates. There's an ice skating rink some benches bathrooms and that's it, so like I said if you are just into no frills ice skating for a decent price this is ur spot. The only reason I gave them 3 stars was because the staff, they seemed to not be able to handle a large crowd and that causes things to get chaotic. I came back here to relive memories because I remembered ice skating was fun when I was in middle school. I came back to this same place I went to on a school trip long time ago, and it was a horrible experience. Dirty: Smells nasty here like musty sour sweat and ammonia everywhere. There is puddles of water everywhere on the floor, super packed with so much kids running around and garbage everywhere. Noisy and dirty seat area. Skate rentals are ripped , Moldy, and so gross. Dangerous: The ice skating rink is full of try hard grown adults dashing super fast and spinning when there are literally ton of kids falling around the rink next to them non stop and beginners everywhere. I would be terrified to see an adult rush into a kid by accident with the metal skates full speed. Unpleasant experience- paid almost 35 dollars for two people and didn't even stay 30 mins here because it felt so uncomfortable and yucky. Much rather spend less money and have fun at the golf center 5 min walk away or go to the queens zoo nearby. read more

I said to myself that I need to come tonight and see this new location when I heard that my son was planning to skates. I was not expecting that the place has pleasantly big skating rink. Viewers has good number of sitting benches on the second floor. A locker room for skaters are available for a fee. Restrooms , water fountains, skate shop and food concession are within reach. Admission fee is $10 and skate rentals are $5. There are training/ learning sessions for a fee if interested. For public session schedule, check their website to plan your visit accordingly. Open year round. Plenty of parking under the bridge. Close to 7 train. A recommended place to hangout to make ice skating a hobby, good place for beginners and a nice venue to improve skating skills of intermediate skaters. read more

Probably the only full-size rink in Queens that has a good amount of open skate time available each weekend. The staff is not very friendly but once you pay , you are off to the ice. The arena was not cold. The ice rink wasn't cold. We think that's why the ice didn't fully harden after the Zamboni cleared it up and when the people started skating the ice got cut up quickly. However, the rough ice could also be due to the number of people at the rink. It was way too busy for my liking. The line to get in was long, the line to get your skates was long, and the line to enter the rink was long. There wasn't enough seats for skaters who wanted to rest. The place smelled like chlorine. Parking wasn't the best because it was under a shady trestle. The pros of this rink are that it's very convenient to get to. The cost of admission and skate rental is very low. The size of the rink seemed pretty standard. I wouldn't go back because I've been to nicer rinks, but I wanted to check this one out. read more

Not sure if this is a change due to COVID, but you have to pre-register online. You can't just walk in and expect to pay and ice skate. The website isn't the most user friendly either. When I tried to register for my GF as a guest, I couldn't edit her bday year on the website, so it looked like my GF is 8 months old. I had to call them to change her bday. First, you create an account and register. Then when we got there, there was a girl who sits by the entrance checking tickets/ registration and gives you the wrist band for admission. There was a group of kids in front of us that was having trouble retrieving their tickets, and was just standing there and blocking everyone else. We had to push ourselves past them to the admission girl to finally get our wrist bands. After you get the wrist band, you go to the back to pay for admission and skates if needed, and then you can go get your skates. The process is definitely more complicated than it needs to be just to go ice skating. Admission is $7 on weekdays and $10 on weekends and to rent their skate is $6. When you get the skates at the arena, they ask for one of your shoes to keep and returns it to you when you return the skates. Most people that skated there had their own skates. We were probably one of the few noobs there who didn't have our own skates or know how to skate well. There are lockers in there that you can put your belongings in, and it's a fairly large locker. It was able to fit one of our shoes and my backpack. It costs 0.75 cents to use the locker each time, and it's one time use only. So if you open it to get your water bottle or whatever, you have to pay another 0.75 cents to lock it up again. You can also go the pay area to get changes for it. There's a lot of benches available, which I appreciate, and most people leave their belongings there. So if you only have non-valuables with you, like shoes and jackets, you probably wouldn't need to pay for the lockers. The ice rink is big and nice. It was crowded for a weekend early afternoon. Some people were taking classes in the middle. You are required to wear masks while you skate. The thing I like about this ice rink is there are staff on the rink that helps people who fall down or remind people to pull their mask up. You can also stay during the entire time of their public sessions. They resurface the ice rink from time to time. read more

This is review about the holiday school sessions. TLDR; If you know how to skate even a little bit, just take your kids skating yourself. Your kids will learn faster and you will save hundreds of dollars. We had previously signed up our daughter for the holiday school session before COVID and we were fairly pleased with it. So, when we got notification about the sessions being held during the winter break (February 2022), we signed up both our daughter and our son for 3 sessions. ($75 for 2 kids for 3 days = $450!!!) The kids were in different groups but they weren't being cared for as well as we have experience previously. If the teacher saw some kids who are not keeping up well, instead of instructing them, encouraging them or re-assigning them to a lower level group quickly, they just looked and acted frustrated. They tried to help a bit in the beginning and have them switch groups but eventually started ignoring them. Eventually, most kids were just skating on their own. Only people who were helpful were younger assistants (part-time student employees?). They were very friendly and great with the kids. The lesson itself was very lacking. Just going back and forth from one end to another. A lot of kids just going about skating on their own. I mean, I paid $75 for the session. The kids could have just skated on their own for $13 ($7 weekday admission + $6 rental) during the public skating session. I'm kicking myself since, for the same amount of money, I could have bought my kids their own skates and taken both of them skating myself more than 10 times. Then, at 10:30, they block off half of the rink to have one half be opened for public session. Now, all the kids are crowded into the other half of the rink, where the teacher are no longer leading the same group. It's like mixture of free skating, some teachers teaching some random group of kids and another group of teacher just chatting. [See attached picture and video.] I didn't pay $150 for both of my kids to have the rink usage be cut in half to make room for people paying $7 to skate. For reference, this did not happen in our session prior to COVID. The full rink was used for the entire session, the teacher were with their groups the entire time and were very attentive to their groups. I contacted them about these issues and they responded the first time. But, when I contacted them few more times after observing very little changes, they simply ghosted me. Been coming here since high school and very little has changed about this place except incremental price increases. The admission and rental charges are the most reasonable I've found compared to the ones in the city, and the rink is relatively well maintained. Public session ice skating crowds will vary but it's typically not that crowded around opening hours, even on weekends. Admission is $11 on weekends and rentals are $6. You'll need 3 quarters to use the lockers to put your extra shoe in if you are getting rentals (they only take one shoe when you get your skates). The skate quality leaves quite a bit to be desired- I don't think they've been changed all these years and all the wear and tear definitely shows, especially on the laces- however, they get the job done and the staff will readily exchange them for you if you need a different size. The staff is pretty friendly in general and will leave you be unless someone is being seriously disruptive. The rink is divided by cones into an inner circle for lessons and the outer circle for the public and they smooth the ice out every hour or so. Overall no complaints and this is my go-to rink whenever friends want to go. If you are coming by car, there is free parking in Lot D of the park which is just a few steps away from the building! read more

I like it here. They have a lot of sports teams and classes thru the day and time slots where the public can come and skate. For 6 of us it cost close to $100 with rental skates and it was a weekend. I supposed that's not bad but it would be a lot cheaper if you have your own skates. You're not allowed to take photos or videos on the ice which I suppose is for safety and I understand that but it also kind of stinks if you want to show your skills. Plenty of people working there that are good on the ice and helpful if you fall. My son fell and hit his head on the ice and they were there right away to his aid to bring him off the ice and get him an ice pack and check for signs of concussion. Bad customer service . Don't ever go here as the staff is very rude.My daughter who is a minor wanted her father to watch her but will not use the rink and stay at the corner. The staff said that they still have to charge him for watching. My husband and daughter left because he was treated badly there. He immediately disputed the charge and lo and behold, weeks after the incident, this Heather called us and asked why we disputed the charge. My husband said that they didn't use the facility and left immediately as the staff just harassed him and my daughter. She called us desperately to charge us back again. My husband knowing his rights, said you can charge but I will dispute again. Sensing that she cannot get her way at us, she said World Ice is banning my husband and my minor daughter from using the facility. Who cares? Their staff are mean. Great indoor ice skating arena! In 2008 they permanently closed the original Worlds fair ice skating rink in Flushing Meadows park where I skated as a young lad. I can still remember lacing up my Bauer hockey skates. This newer rink is Great! This rink is inexpensive - $9 admission on weekends and $6 on weekdays, $5 to rent skates, word of caution, the skates are heavy! The rink has alot to offer, skating lessons are available and If your child is into getting body checked on the ice up against the boards, you're in luck. Hockey teams are available for you to join for a fee. The rink has locker rentals, a skate shop and a small food court. You can book a private room for birthday parties as well. I came here for a friends daughter's birthday party, all the kids had a fun time and the price included a 30 minute private coaching/skating session on the ice with our party group. If you're tired of skating or not in the skating mood. The 2nd floor has ample seating if you just want to sit and watch the skaters in the rink. Like I said earlier for the price you can't beat it, but don't think you'll be speed skating around the rink. There are many little kids skating in each and every direction. So yes, yield to the children and don't show off your skating prowess because in the big scheme of things nobody really cares except you! Slow down or the skating guards will throw you out! If you know how to skate this is also a great place to take that special someone in the hopes of forming a love connection. You could show them how to skate while holding their hand while circling around the rink, that's how I met Mrs TC at the old rink, technique! :) Open all year around with plenty of parking around the area. The hockey instructors currently on staff on Saturday mornings are terrible. I'm not sure what their compensation is but whatever it is, they are overpaid. Watching them stand in the corner talking to each other while kids they are supposed to be instructing, just skate around with their sticks and pucks, tackling each other, creating breaks in the barrier that protects other skaters just learning how to skate is ridiculous. I'm just incredulous watching them not say anything while watching it happen. If another skater got hurt while one of these kids, who may not know any better, flings a puck down the ice where the other skaters are, I'll be sure to finger these coaches for doing nothing but socializing with each other. As far as other staff, they have been ok, skate return is fast, they spray the skates, etc,... the skate instructors seem engaged most times and other times a bit rude to the younger skaters, but most of the skate instructors are ok. Not enough to balance out the negatives on the hockey guys though. Parking is a maze. They honestly couldn't make the parking lot more of a challenge to find the entrance to. read more

And he said the bootlace should lace from bottom up， not from middle. I just want to try. I will do it later. I response for my act. Not his reason to reject my request. A little expensive for 6 people (with two being small kids.) They should charge less for kids- at least until a certain age. The kids we had were so scared they completed a lap by cringing on to the wall and falling. Totally not worth it for just a lap. Some of us adults were able to do 4 laps but just during an hour we had to step out twice for the ice to be cleaned. They also messed up on the order of shoes and gave us someone else's shoes at one point. Eyes definitely rolled. I think you can enjoy this rink if your children have their own pair of skates because it would be expensive constantly renting them or if you come on a date because you can laugh about falling and stay as long as the place is open. read more

Great value for your money! The website had exact instructions on how to get here from the Mets-Willets Point stop of the 7 train. When my friends arrived here around 10:30am there were only a few people on the ice. Which was great for us since we were like fawns learning how to walk properly. $6 admission on weekdays and $5 for skate rental isn't a bad price at all. The lockers are one-time use only so make sure you have everything you need before you close it! The skates really smell. But you can't really expect a brand new pair of skates given how cheap it is to rent a pair for the entire time you're skating. Make sure to lace them up tight! Dress warmly and wear gloves and a hat! It's really cold there. It feels like winter year round here! It's only a 15 minute walk to Downtown Flushing where you can warm up by eating a nice warm bowl of noodles in soup. read more

Its a typical ice ring , nothing special or crazy. It's huge place that even has swimming pool. They do have skating school in many different hours almost everyday. Very flexible hours for Group classes. All group lesson are seven or eight sessions with reasonable price. I think all group has 12 student They also have private lessons which a little bit expensive but it's definitely with it. Privet lessons are for 2 only it's limited to to two person either you can be 2 or can share it some body if you know anybody that they want to learn skating. They have skate shop and they do measure your foot /or your kids and tell you the right size for you. Also they do sharpen the blades. Price range is fom $89 to $200. There is a very complicated website for registration which isn't clear. Unfortunately I purchased tickets for my husband but for the wrong date. I spent over ($30.00) aciidentally and was still forced to buy another ticket for the exact day that we were skating. When I bought it to the attention of the manager (Kaylee Johnson), she was very dismissive and denied me any refund or opportunity to be able to switch the dates or share the extra tickets with any of my friends outside. By the way invited about 20 people, who gave them buisness also. Absolutely terrible buisness practice and not customer friendly. Buyer beware because you're not getting your money back if you make a mistake. I will make sure NOT to recommend this place in the future. read more

Came here with my sister and my best friend... had a great time, though I wished I saved myself some more time to actually skate. Instead, I had a schedule packed with other activities to do and spent only an hour here, including the time it took the staff to resurface the ice. It's $13 per person for the entrance and skate rental ($7 for ticket and $6 for the skates). They'll hand you a receipt and a Tyvek wristband to wrap around your wrist. You can't take items onto the rink, but you can rent small lockers on the side for 75 cents, so have some quarters ready, or ask the staff at the cashier entrance for change. It did feel a little weird though because I had to give the staff a sneaker in order to get the skates. They only took one shoe too, so I was hopping, limping, walking, whatever you call it, kind of weirdly back to the benches. This was my second time ice skating here. It feels chilly so be sure to bring a hoodie and some mittens! When you come during morning hours before kids are let out from classes, there will be less people skating here but those who are skating here are good at what they do. I, on the other hand, will be struggling along the sidelines. The biggest perk is that the park has parking really close to the ice rink! This is also the only ice rink in Queens that I know of. The ice rink is not as large as the ones in the city but it very good for its size. The prices are decent to rent skates and lockers (they operate with quarters). The one thing that was off-setting for me was the skates smell. I know a lot of people use them, but there should be a better rotation/cleaning method for this. I cannot stress enough how poorly treated myself and my boyfriend were at World's Ice Arena. I purchased a Groupon ice-skating package for two as a surprise gift for my boyfriend. Carole Liotti, who oversaw the Groupon deal emailed me informing me that they are no longer able to do the package and offered me complimentary tickets. We tried to set up a time in March for our complimentary ice rink day to which Carole emailed asking if it would be possible to come on February 15th at 12pm. We came in at February 15th, only to have the nightmare begin. We arrived only to have them say Carole isn't here, but they could do a lesson and day at the ice rink at 1pm when the instructor arrives. We agreed since we were already there. We were surprised they would offer us a lesson on top of that, since it wasn't stated in the email. We walked around for an hour in the cold to keep ourselves amused. We got back to get ready for skating. We were told that we couldn't skate because the Groupon was refunded and no longer valid. One of the ladies popped up from her chair and it was Carole. Carole was one of the ladies behind the cashier's booth the whole time! She pretended not to be Carole when we got there at 12pm. The front desk personnel also went along with pretending Carole wasn't there. She didn't want to give us the complimentary ice rink pass which she stated in the email (attached photo).  Carole said we could pay for the lesson if we still wanted to do it. Why would we want to pay for the lesson when we were told we were going to get complimentary rink passes? We were upset that she pretended not to be there and had us wait a whole hour, just to be turned down. They expected us to pay after they made the error. Our time was wasted, and we ended up with nothing.  The rudeness that they gave us was uncalled for. My boyfriend set time off from work to enjoy the day. He lost money for the negligence that occurred from Carole, which is more money than what those tickets cost.  I wouldn't recommend going to this ice rink. Management is horrible. If they didn't want to give us a complimentary day at the ice rink, they shouldn't have offered it in the first place, causing us to waste our time only to try and force us to buy lessons. read more
