The ice-skating place has a great parking lot not only in front of the building but also in the back. They have operation hours for the public on the website; check before planning a trip. The prices are reasonable for such a run-down place. Everything is ancient and needs at least some touch-up, but for the price they charge, it is all right. The rentals are ok; some days, you get better equipment if you are lucky. The locks for your personal belongings need quarters; some eat your money and won't work. The ring itself gets overcrowded very fast, and one of the annoying things is some trainers get very aggravated if you ski too close to their trainee while knowing it is public hours. Coming back here after 15 years brought me good memories. My children used to skate in this place when they were young . It used to be a fun place for them to spend a weekend with friends . They offer same activities as before- public session on particular days and time, private lessons and party package.!Nothing seems changed except the place looked old, the rental skates and helmets look dirty ( my son brought his own ) and management seems relaxed on hie they currently run the place. I have noticed that the ice doesn't looked smooth from my viewpoint as my son skates. I just hoped everyone enjoyed and had a good time. Definitely the place need an upgrade and an update. read more

A friend asked me to go ice skating the other day and my exact response was "Hmm I think I know a fun place... and no it's not central park and yes I haven't been there in about 26 year but trust me... oh wait a second, let me double check real quick if they're still open." And still open they were! As soon as we walked in, it felt like I entered back into a time machine. All of my memories as a kid started flooded back... including my first time there for my brother's 10th birthday. I remember it like it was yesterday... As I took my first cautious step onto the ice and planted my foot down, one of my skates immediately slipped backwards and my head swiftly met the ice with a huge thud. My first thought was "Jared don't cry." But oh how I cried. I vowed to myself and my parents that I would never try to skate again from that moment on. A few days later, feeling defeated, I had a sudden change of heart and made it my mission to master the art of skating. My loving parents heard me out and enrolled me in ice hockey lessons the very next weekend. I accredit my currently rusty yet pretty decent skills on the blades of fury (sorry, couldn't resist) to that one summer back back in '94, where I took lessons with kids 3-4 years my senior. Seriously, the science behind muscle memory, hours of skills training, and the central nervous system are so darn interesting! Anyway, fast forward to last weekend, even though I wasn't fully decked out in hockey hear from head to toe like I was when I was 6 years old, for that entire afternoon I truly felt like a kid again. I'm talking hot chocolate, double layers of socks, and constant smiles for several hours on. Yes, that's right, I skated for nearly three hours despite my friend wanting to leave after 45 minutes, maybe one hour tops. I felt a little guilty buuut I paid, so I didn't feel too bad. While I had no concept of money when I was a little kid, it sure seemed like the prices must have barely changed because for the two of us, I don't think I spent much more than forty five bucks (that's with snacks, skates and entry combined). Perhaps the whole place could use some updating, perhaps it doesn't shine as bright as it used it, perhaps I should have brought my own skates that are buried somewhere in my parents garage, but it's still just as fun as I remember. Speaking of remembering, my knees and my back remembered the next morning just how old I actually am... but if last weekend taught me anything, it's that age is just a mentality and memories live forever! I can't wait to come back and am seriously considering throwing my next birthday party with Iceland, because I really really love when things come full circle. Hey who knows, if I ever have kids of my own, and I hope I do, I'll definitely be bringing them here for ice skating and hockey lessons. read more

My 15 year old son was verbally abused and intimidated for no reason whatsoever by one of their employees. When my wife and i went in to ask what happened the employee started to verbally abuse us. The manager was standing there watching this and did absolutely nothing about it. I called several times asking for a call back from Rich the general manager and he still hasn't called us back. Today I brought my daughter and a few of her friends to this ice rink. From the minute I walked in the owner was rushing us to pay and was trying to overcharge me, I had children younger than 10 years old and children over 10 years old, he kept telling me all my kids were over 10 years old. The cashier rang me up and I asked the cashier numerous times if he charged me the right amount he told me yes so I paid and walked away. After skating for an hour we needed water from the machines, the machines were out of water and when I asked the manager to refund me he told me to stop using the machine because there was nothing in it. There was no sign on the machine telling me it was empty, I had to follow him around until he gave me my money back. When I got home I went online to look at the pricing again and realized I was overcharged by $30, so I decided to call the Rink and ask what the pricing would be for the nine kids that I brought and it was exactly the same number that I came up with. I told the owner I was overcharged and I want to be refunded. This place is dirty and dishonest I would never recommend this place. read more

I think maybe they can update the eating area and food stand but then again this isn't a restaurant it's a place to skate and get a quick snack or hot chocolate, I'll be coming here fake skating for the winter read more

Never have skated here before. Only have driven my son here for his hockey games. The parking out front is limited and difficult to maneuver around when it gets filled up. There is parking in the rear too, which is roomier and less congested. There is a concession stand which is never open (at least the times I've been there). So you will be using their vending machines for food or making coffee runs to pastry place next door. They have a little arcade area with an air hockey game and a few seats for you to sit down at if the rink is too cold or you're just waiting for the kids to finish skating. They have pro shop here too, although I can't comment on how it is...since I've never seen it open either. As rinks go, this isn't too bad. If you're going to skate or play hockey it's just fine. If you want a place newer more visually appealing facility, go elsewhere. read more

This was a pretty bad rink. Immediately arriving the parking lot was pretty damaged. No big deal because we are here to skate. We get in and the place is run by kids. A few notes of how it went down hill from there: The skates that you rent are really old and they don't get sprayed between guests. Which is disgusting. In addition when requesting a helmet they don't clean them before giving guests. At one point they said that they didn't have anymore so when we saw one abandoned we asked if it was theirs, they simply said to just take it. Not sanitary at all. The ice is not zamboni-ed at all the whole 2 hours we are there. The result is choppy ice, not smooth, which makes it difficult to teach skating. Then coming out there are three hand sanitizer dispensers. All missing hand sanitizer. Not that it's out but completely empty. So then I go use the restroom to wash my hands and to use the bathroom only to find out of the 4 stalls, 2 of the doors don't close at all. I come out to find the people I went with decided to play table air hockey..... with no air. The puck kept getting stuck in the middle of the table. Overall my biggest complaint are the facilities. Just really poorly kept and managed. Don't think I would recommend or return. read more

I have a couple things to say about this rink. I used to play hockey here as a goalie the crease was very choppy and I kept tripping on bumps in crease. When I went here for public skate a grumpy guy kicked my friend and I off the ice for dropping a drink. The pro shop is probably the worst part the skate sharping is so bad employees at pure hockey said it so bad and hate you guys. The employees suck I used to get yelled at for the stupidest reasons and the place smells like piss. Do better. read more

This is a cool spot to come with your family and friends. Bring your own skates if you got so you don't have to buy them. There is a parking lot. Also they have their own ice hockey teams as well. I want to love Iceland, I do. But until some basic issues get attention, I'm in the lukewarm zone. The skate counter is run by all young teenagers, which is fine. But when it gets busy and there's 2 teens helping- 4 others lounging around by the skates- it's annoying. The skates themselves are a hit or miss. The first pair of skates for both me and my little sister had laces that were too short (they laced all the way up but left no room to tie a bow). I like my skates to be generally tight around my ankles for support, so having to go back twice and switch out skates was again, not major- but annoying. And when I complained of the short laces, the skates were simply placed back on the shelves both times. You would think they'd want to replace the laces as soon as possible, and not have those short laced ones go back out with someone else. Once we got our skates, it's on to the lockers. I put all my stuff in the first locker I saw empty. I attempt to put in quarters. There are quarters already stuck in it. No big deal, I moved all my stuff to the locker adjacent to it. Same thing again. I then had to move my things to a third locker to finally secure my belongings. Sheesh. The rink size is great, but is very cold. I don't remember ever needing gloves for an indoor ice rink- but I sure missed them when I noticed my hands were ice cold. Some sections were cornered off (sides and middle) for people (or students?) to practice fancy footwork. There were figure skaters (students?) and hockey players in the middle and sides. I'm not savvy with this stuff, but the people coned off on the sides were the most difficult to avoid (since they often skated and practiced outside the cones). I felt like any time they did a spin or practiced a hard stop, we were about to collide. Plus, most kids who grip onto the wall for dear life do this the whole way around the rink. So when my sister and her friends made their way into these sections, I was worried we were in someone's way. Considering public skating is only a few hours each weekend, the fancy foot work and hockey practice should be saved for other times. There's a snack bar with some basic snacks and a few vending machines. There's also a few arcade games. This rink is generally rundown, but if anything could be fixed- the bathroom really needs the most help. The toilet seats are really low to the ground, which was awkward getting down and up from on skates. The stalls have very large gaps in the doors, that basically allow anyone within eyesight a free show. And the most disappointing- there was no warm water. After skating and having freezing cold hands, the last thing I wanted to do was run them under cold water. Despite the things that can be improved, Iceland was still fun- and can be if you know what to expect. read more

The Iceland rink reminds me of the old Flushing Meadows Corona Park skating rink before it was replaced. The rink is old and rundown. It may still be great for hockey games but as for public skating, it's not family friendly or for first timers (renting their skates). Improvements Iceland should think about to make it more family/public skating friendly: 1. Replace all of those old rental skates. Some are missing the inner linings/soles and the laces are literally on their last threads 2. Replace all of the malfunctioning lockers with stuck keys but still accepting quarters 3. Repave the parking area once the winter season is over 4. Modernize the entire arena I give two stars for the convenience (close to home) only but would rather drive to the World Ice Arena in Flushing for a better ice skating experience... read more

Not much to say but that It's an ice rink where you can watch teenagers skate or watch old man hockey leagues pretend they're in the NHL by trash talking each other. It's kinda funny actually. Especially the parking lot antics after the games. Dress super warm though cause it's gotta be one of the coldest rinks I've ever visited! I'm talking thermal underwear, wool socks and hats cold. Good price. The ice was real good at the start but got choppy about 25 minutes Into the session, but that's to be expected from a public session. This location is close to Queens but still in Nassau so you get an odd mix of adults from the city whom have never stepped foot on the ice before falling in front of you and Long Island kids trying to show off zooming way to close to people. There was a bunch kid who were in need of a good hip check and a bunch of adults who need to take a few lessons. Did not try the food but It looked awful. I assume it is awful, food at ice rinks always is. Parking was easy. One big negative was the pro shop. When I walked in, The guy behind the counter was telling some woman that her kids could use a hockey ball for inline hockey. Hockey balls are not used for inline hockey, the are used for ball hockey which is played without any kind of skate. The reason for this is that the ball changes direction so frequently that playing it on skates is extremely dangerous. Also, one scan of the ice reveals that the customers of Ice Land are mostly Islanders fans. I saw no one in anything Rangers or Devils, but I saw 20 different kids in John Taveras jerseys. But for some reason, the pro shop only sold Rangers gear. I wanted to buy my nephew the Johnny Boychuck Jersey that he has been wanting but they did not have them here. read more

I'd love to iceskate outdoors in the snow, decked out with stylish scarf and matching hat, just like in the movies. But I know I would freeze. So, I have to settle with indoor iceskating at Iceland. You will need to drive here but they have a parking lot. $7-9 to skate if you're an adult. $6 for kids. $4 for skate rentals. Not bad. And you get a hand stamp after you pay. Yay for hand stamps! Sessions run for one and a half to three hours, depending on the kind of session it is (General, Children's, Teen Night) and the time of day. Obviously, to get your money's worth, arrive early to allow time for paying, getting the skates and putting them on. Bring change for the lockers! The rink itself is a nice size and they play music, regardless of whether it's a "Teen Night." You will always find people holding onto the side, so if you're a new skater (like me), don't worry about feeling dumb; you will get more confident each time you make it around, anyway. You will be forced to let go (but that's a good thing!), only because there are quite a few kids at all times and they may not move for minutes. If you happen to slip and fall, most times, an employee rushes over to see if you're okay. It's nice of them but at the same time, you will think "SHOW OFF" because they whoosh so fast - haha! Speaking of show offs, you will likely see a figure skating student of Iceland's practice fancy things in the center of the rink. Use it as motivation: "If they can spin 100 times in a row and not fall, surely I can just make it from here to there!" If you get tired of skating but your friends still want to, you can sit on the bleachers and watch. You can go to the vending machine to grab an overpriced bag of chips to munch on while you sit. Really though, I wouldn't recommend doing this because 1) you'll be the boring person who chose to sit, and 2) your butt will get cold on the metal bleachers. DUH. This place also has figure skating classes and hockey team practices. I recall seeing medals and posted articles on this place, showcasing the success of past and current students. Apparently, they have some good training! If you're looking for an indoor rink, check it out. read more

I do not recommend buying food here or asking for utensils. I dropped my spoon from the mini melts machine and asked for a new one . the person came with a spoon from the back which I thought was strange but didn't think much of it . I started using the spoon and my throat hurt a bit but again I wasn't alarmed. Now days later I have a cough that has got nothing but worse . Really enjoyed going here, but couldn't give them a 5 :(. The price was pretty cheap and the staff there were very friendly. I enjoyed coming here overall and will probably return for another run. Great place to skate year round, especially fun in the summer. Public sessions are only at certain times, check the website for info. Sometimes the website also has coupons so thats another reason to check. Air hockey in the cafe area is another plus. Make sure to lace your skates up tight so that your ankles don't hurt! read more

This place is great place to skate. I love it and have been coming for years. Only thing if you are not in the Kids session it can get a little rough with kids passing at fast rates of speed and the gards no doing much about it. The food has gone down hill over the years but for Hot chocolate and coffiee it is fine. The skate rental is fast and always has numerious people working it so lines are never a problem. read more

Basic family ice skating rink. I've been several times with the kids and sometimes they go without me and go with their friends. My kids went to the 1-3 session on Sunday. The session is just long enough to enjoy yourself. They have a snack bar with very basic snacks, hotdogs, churos, hot chocolate. Sometimes you have to wait while they make stuff. There's plenty of parking in the back. It's just a typical local place. You get warm skating if you keep moving but bring a hat and cotton gloves in case and for kids who aren't great skaters who may move more slowly. read more

I saw two kids get hurt today in a game ref'ed by two kids not old enough to drive, nothing was called no one but the screaming parents cared. One was my son. The rink was just remodeled but is still the most outdated rink I have ever been to, and I have played my whole life. The ice is horrid and it is cold and damp all year round. The snack bar and pro shop never seem to be open, the little bit of staff there come off shady I overheard the owner tell a coach if he didn't like it-not sure what it was- he could take his kid and quit in front of all the kids coming off the ice today. There are way too many rinks in this area for me to return after this season. I played the mens league here one season and it was a bunch of talentless goons who take there emotions right out to the pothole filled parking lot stinking of beer. The ice was so choppy by the end of warm ups I needed to sharpen my skates again. Ice hockey is a great game this place does it no justice. Goto another rink read more
