Nasty ice skate rental shoes
X P.

I came back here to relive memories because I remembered ice skating was fun when I was in middle school. I came back to this same place I went to on a school trip long time ago, and it was a horrible experience. Dirty: Smells nasty here like musty sour sweat and ammonia everywhere. There is puddles of water everywhere on the floor, super packed with so much kids running around and garbage everywhere. Noisy and dirty seat area. Skate rentals are ripped , Moldy, and so gross. Dangerous: The ice skating rink is full of try hard grown adults dashing super fast and spinning when there are literally ton of kids falling around the rink next to them non stop and beginners everywhere. I would be terrified to see an adult rush into a kid by accident with the metal skates full speed. Unpleasant experience- paid almost 35 dollars for two people and didn't even stay 30 mins here because it felt so uncomfortable and yucky. Much rather spend less money and have fun at the golf center 5 min walk away or go to the queens zoo nearby.

Ice skating time! $7 entry if you have your own shoes/skates! Set up an account online and register before you go! Mask is required and they check your vaccine card. Not too crowded in the morning so come early! They open at 10:30am.

Rink usage cut in half. Kids sitting around or skating freely with bare no instruction.

This is review about the holiday school sessions. TLDR; If you know how to skate even a little bit, just take your kids skating yourself. Your kids will learn faster and you will save hundreds of dollars. We had previously signed up our daughter for the holiday school session before COVID and we were fairly pleased with it. So, when we got notification about the sessions being held during the winter break (February 2022), we signed up both our daughter and our son for 3 sessions. ($75 for 2 kids for 3 days = $450!!!) The kids were in different groups but they weren't being cared for as well as we have experience previously. If the teacher saw some kids who are not keeping up well, instead of instructing them, encouraging them or re-assigning them to a lower level group quickly, they just looked and acted frustrated. They tried to help a bit in the beginning and have them switch groups but eventually started ignoring them. Eventually, most kids were just skating on their own. Only people who were helpful were younger assistants (part-time student employees?). They were very friendly and great with the kids. The lesson itself was very lacking. Just going back and forth from one end to another. A lot of kids just going about skating on their own. I mean, I paid $75 for the session. The kids could have just skated on their own for $13 ($7 weekday admission + $6 rental) during the public skating session. I'm kicking myself since, for the same amount of money, I could have bought my kids their own skates and taken both of them skating myself more than 10 times. Then, at 10:30, they block off half of the rink to have one half be opened for public session. Now, all the kids are crowded into the other half of the rink, where the teacher are no longer leading the same group. It's like mixture of free skating, some teachers teaching some random group of kids and another group of teacher just chatting. [See attached picture and video.] I didn't pay $150 for both of my kids to have the rink usage be cut in half to make room for people paying $7 to skate. For reference, this did not happen in our session prior to COVID. The full rink was used for the entire session, the teacher were with their groups the entire time and were very attentive to their groups. I contacted them about these issues and they responded the first time. But, when I contacted them few more times after observing very little changes, they simply ghosted me. Thank you World Ice for taking my money, taking me for a ride then dumping me and my kids on the side of the road.

Great indoor ice skating arena! In 2008 they permanently closed the original Worlds fair ice skating rink in Flushing Meadows park where I skated as a young lad. I can still remember lacing up my Bauer hockey skates. This newer rink is Great! This rink is inexpensive - $9 admission on weekends and $6 on weekdays, $5 to rent skates, word of caution, the skates are heavy! The rink has alot to offer, skating lessons are available and If your child is into getting body checked on the ice up against the boards, you're in luck. Hockey teams are available for you to join for a fee. The rink has locker rentals, a skate shop and a small food court. You can book a private room for birthday parties as well. I came here for a friends daughter's birthday party, all the kids had a fun time and the price included a 30 minute private coaching/skating session on the ice with our party group. If you're tired of skating or not in the skating mood. The 2nd floor has ample seating if you just want to sit and watch the skaters in the rink. Like I said earlier for the price you can't beat it, but don't think you'll be speed skating around the rink. There are many little kids skating in each and every direction. So yes, yield to the children and don't show off your skating prowess because in the big scheme of things nobody really cares except you! Slow down or the skating guards will throw you out! If you know how to skate this is also a great place to take that special someone in the hopes of forming a love connection. You could show them how to skate while holding their hand while circling around the rink, that's how I met Mrs TC at the old rink, technique! :) Open all year around with plenty of parking around the area. Who knows the next future Olympic gold medalist may come from here.

Pretty much…read moreevery indoor roller rink in the city closed during the pandemic (except the outdoor rink at Brooklyn Bridge Park), so when this place opened people absolutely lost their minds. Walking in feels like stepping straight back into childhood in the best way possible. Neon lights, funky carpet, bright colors, all the nostalgic roller rink vibes you could want. One thing I really love is that unlike most rinks that only do one adults-only night a week, Xanadu switches to 21+ after 8 PM almost every night. It ends up feeling way more like a nightclub than a traditional roller rink, and you don't have to worry about drinking around kids or dodging little ones flying across the floor. They've also got a concession stand with Frito pies, four different kinds of hot dogs, and plenty of snacks if you need a break. Definitely check the website before you go because this isn't the kind of roller rink where you just show up and pay seven bucks to skate. They host different events almost every night, and each one has its own cover charge. It's usually somewhere between $11 and $25, and can go up to around $33 if there's a musical guest, but honestly it's always felt worth it to me. I've caught some great local performers there along with iconic '90s dance acts like Ultra Naté. Lockers are $5 and you'll need a credit card to use them. I 100% recommend this place whether you're looking for a fun night out, trying to pick up a new hobby, or just want to do something different with friends. I swear once you go and see everyone doing tricks, showing off, and having the best time, you're going to want to come back and learn a few moves yourself. It's great solo, great with friends, and skating is definitely a workout, so be prepared to sweat. Dress cute, but keep it breezy.

For skating, they have a large, oval wooden roller rink floor, just they had in the 70's & 80's all around NYC and the boroughs. Killer DJ's & awesome song selections keep the energy going for both concerts & skating. This is a truly unique spot that's perfect for young kids & everyone else up to their 60's or so. (I'd cut it off after that as it's loud & most Seniors wouldn't like the volume & probably shouldn't be roller skating, unless they really know what they're doing). Love that this place exists - it's MAGICAL!!!

The ice was LOVELY, very smooth and MOSTLY level, though at the rounded corners it made a bit of a dip near the barriers. There was ample stadium seating for putting on/ removing skates and spectating. There were a few helpers on the ice to assist those that fell. The meh: Standing on a line that snaked from the entry level down the stairs and outside in the cold and wind. Skate rental and restrooms on a separate floor from the rink. The awkward: having to descend/ascend the stairs with skates on. People (both adults and children) crowded the entryway to the ice. And still open they were! As soon as we walked in, it felt like I entered back into a time machine. All of my memories as a kid started flooded back... including my first time there for my brother's 10th birthday. I remember it like it was yesterday... As I took my first cautious step onto the ice and planted my foot down, one of my skates immediately slipped backwards and my head swiftly met the ice with a huge thud. My first thought was "Jared don't cry." But oh how I cried. I vowed to myself and my parents that I would never try to skate again from that moment on. A few days later, feeling defeated, I had a sudden change of heart and made it my mission to master the art of skating. My loving parents heard me out and enrolled me in ice hockey lessons the very next weekend. I accredit my currently rusty yet pretty decent skills on the blades of fury (sorry, couldn't resist) to that one summer back back in '94, where I took lessons with kids 3-4 years my senior. Seriously, the science behind muscle memory, hours of skills training, and the central nervous system are so darn interesting! Anyway, fast forward to last weekend, even though I wasn't fully decked out in hockey hear from head to toe like I was when I was 6 years old, for that entire afternoon I truly felt like a kid again. I'm talking hot chocolate, double layers of socks, and constant smiles for several hours on. Yes, that's right, I skated for nearly three hours despite my friend wanting to leave after 45 minutes, maybe one hour tops. I felt a little guilty buuut I paid, so I didn't feel too bad. While I had no concept of money when I was a little kid, it sure seemed like the prices must have barely changed because for the two of us, I don't think I spent much more than forty five bucks (that's with snacks, skates and entry combined). Perhaps the whole place could use some updating, perhaps it doesn't shine as bright as it used it, perhaps I should have brought my own skates that are buried somewhere in my parents garage, but it's still just as fun as I remember. Speaking of remembering, my knees and my back remembered the next morning just how old I actually am... but if last weekend taught me anything, it's that age is just a mentality and memories live forever! I can't wait to come back and am seriously considering throwing my next birthday party with Iceland, because I really really love when things come full circle. Hey who knows, if I ever have kids of my own, and I hope I do, I'll definitely be bringing them here for ice skating and hockey lessons.

The prices are reasonable for such a run-down place. Everything is ancient and needs at least some touch-up, but for the price they charge, it is all right. The ring itself gets overcrowded very fast, and one of the annoying things is some trainers get very aggravated if you ski too close to their trainee while knowing it is public hours. They received my payment but never responded to emails or phone calls. But thats not why they earned the one star. Let me start by saying that I spoke to both coaches and they said "its ok" and then I'm assuming the husband of the boss. He told me to talk to the coaches and the owner Jocelyne said she will talk to the coaches, which she never did. When you sign up you can choose white or blue jerseys. We chose blue. During the lessons the coaches would split the team by color and there would be 7 white shirts and 5 blue shirts (two blue shirts using skate trainers). For 5 or more sessions we had 3 blues vs 7 white jerseys. The blue jersey would lose every game by double digits and lucky to score one goal. I've ask the coaches to split the teams evenly by having some white jerseys wear blue scrimmage vest, that happened only once which the blue team won and my kids could not wait for the next class, they were so excited. The next class they where back to 7 vs 3 and and the next 3 weeks the same. Both of my kids don't want to play ice hockey anymore so we've stopped going, foregoing the rest of the lessons. LIC ICE broke my kids and took away the enjoyment of ice hockey. How can you let them get destroyed every game, hearing them complain even cry and do the same thing every lessons. I would had considered continuing with LIC ICE and even paying the tuition that was now doubled the price with the "one hour in the workout room" if you just focused more on the kids want and love of the game instead of crushing them and harassing me about signing up for next season. I even overlooked that your rink is really meant for 3 on 3 no where close to 10+ kids plus two coaches.
