I needed help finding a comfortable boot for my foot that's just healing up after an injury and she knew all about each and every boot I asked about as well as having some valuable suggestions. On top of that she knew exactly what in sole would help me in my current post injury situation. As a result I purchased a boot and sole combo I was very happy with. A huge help! Excellent service !! I went in to get a couple of work shirts. The staff was very very helpful showed me where all of the new things and then walked me over to the sale side. Once they realize I was just grabbing undershirts. It's nice when people don't try to upsell you the whole time and just give you what you need. The management was phenomenal and I will definitely be coming back to the store for more product.In this day and age customer service really goes a long way and they prove it. read more

First time shopping here. We found that their return policy is pretty crap for high dollar items. If I buy a pair of $200 boots at similar retailers, they generally stand behind the manufacturers warranty. Not WW. Purchased a pair of $200 boots for my husband. Felt ok in store but a day of wearing them and he was miserable. Went to exchange them and the have a strict policy of returns being in unworn condition, EVEN IF wearing them one time proved they are unwearable. The manufacturer has a 30 day return policy for any reason, so now we have to go directly to them to exchange the boots. There are a lot of other stores that take back expensive items that are unwearable and who handle working with the manufacturer directly. So I'll never spend money here again purely for that terrible policy. As has been noted, the gal at the register was kind of rude about the whole situation as well. Go to REI or literally anywhere else for your work wear needs. read more

I just bought (4) pair Carhartt work pants. I'm posting a picture of the Carhartt tag describing the pants. They're basically $70.00 a pair. With tax it came out to $304.00 and change. I wear 34 X 30 and I tried them on at the store. Perfect fit. I paid for my pants and went home. It was actually my wife who asked me if they were gonna shrink after being washed. If so, she said....they weren't gonna fit anymore. Would've been $304.00 down the drain. I'm giving a 5-Star review because this place has great work boots and work clothes. But, these guys should know that the people who shop here are Blue Collar. We work hard for the money we come in here to spend. I did some research and found out that these pants will shrink 1 - 1.5 sizes. So I went back and exchanged them for 36 x 30. I then washed and dried them. Sure enough....they shrank 1 size and will likely shrink another 1/2 size with additional washes. If I hadn't exchanged them, I would've been *as out $304.00. Not cool. The staff here should let their customers know that the $70.00 pair of pants they just bought will shrink. I decided to visit here (Feb. 4, 2022) because they're listed on the Timberlands shoes website as retail seller. Although they did have a large selection of work safe boots, I didn't locate my size or preferred style. What I did discover was a large selection of moisture resistant scrubs in a variety of jogger styles, colors, and the perfect fit! Heart Soul scrubs fit amazingly, and I was excited to see them priced at a reasonable amount of just $30.99. I picked up 2 different pairs for a variety of color choices. Imagine my surprise when the purchase total came to $104. I thought, WOW, taxes have reallyyyyyy gone up. After checking the receipt outside, 3 pairs of pants had been scanned. I did go back inside with the receipt, and the front desk associate processed a refund for $33. I only bring this up because, yes, mistakes happen. But this was a costly slip of the finger while scanning merchandise, and it shouldn't fall on the customer to super sleuth receipts after shopping. I've only docked 1 star from this review because the store was well maintained, fitting rooms were available, and I did find some items that were worth the purchase. But, please, be on guard with your purchases and make sure you're not getting overcharged for something NOT purchased. read more

I was impressed with their selection of overalls and other work related clothing. Great staff that were all attentive and helpful. I was expecting normal customer service, the gentleman really looked through all their inventory and found what I was asking for. Lazy workers. Asked for aprons they said all they had was white chef ones. When I asked if they could come and re-ship for me because it was really high on the wall the lady gave me so much attitude I felt disrespected. Went there for collard button down shirts and slacks for my job at the local hardware store. Settled on the classic dickies as the price was right and was able to get a set in blue, black and grey. Sure they follow you around but they also make suggestions if something doesn't work or fit. You can look at it this way, if you had your livelihood sitting on a shelf wouldn't you talk to the people handling it? They suggested trying on the slacks as they are tough to squat down in, I'm glad I did. Could barely zip them up!! Had to move up a size. I'm glad there is a physical store locally for these kind of things, but also that one misstep could have been a huge headache if I was buying online. read more

Had been shopping here (Arden Way, Sacramento) since 2011. Met Kenji and he was always the friendliest staff member in the store. Prices WERE kind of high but not out of line. Decent assortment of sale items most times. Unfortunately, in the past 2 years or so, the atmosphere in the store has become less friendly. (Wonder WHY Kenji moved on........) Prices have skyrocketed for much of the standard priced stock. For similar items comparison, they're priced higher than nearby REI Co-op, where you at least encounter a friendlier staff. Word to the Work World management and parent corporation? Wise up, or lose out to the competition. We have other nearby choices. read more

Extremely not helpful, I had asked for help many times and tried to get their attentions when there wasn't any customers in the store, I got ignored. I bought a boot half a size over because they did not have the exact size I normally wear, I tried them on at the store seem ok . Brought home and tried them with 2 socks still not work well, returned them 2 days later and got the unfriendly questionning. This place better not ever shut down. OK, I usually only buy one thing from there -- but it's vitally important to me. I hate shopping for utilitarian clothes, especially jeans. And then I found Work World. Dickies jeans for 10 to 15 bucks. I can walk in, grab a pair, and even if I try them on to make sure I didn't get too fat since the last time I bought them, I'm still out of there in under 5 minutes. Which is exactly the way I want it! And the sales staff is great because they leave me alone unless I ask them something (and they're really nice if I do). They carry all kinds of other great stuff, too - including the brightest, most annoying (thus, great!) fluorescent t-shirts I've ever seen - in a variety of colors, no less. Never bought one, but at least I know they're there if I ever want to, um, surprise someone. Support this place if you can - really, 10-15 dollar Dickies jeans. Ya really can't beat that. If you glance at the sign, it sometimes looks like Wok World, so if you're going down Arden Wy and see either "Wok World" or "Work World," you'll know you're at the right place. read more

I came here today looking for scrubs. It was the first on a list of places to do some comparison shopping so I wasn't set on buying anything anywhere unless unicorns and rainbows magically appeared during my shopping experience. I immediately found the Dickies scrubs area and picked out some to try on. One very kind saleswoman came over to check on me and helped me out. I tried on the scrubs but since all scrubs seem to fit me too large since I'm tiny, they didn't work. When I came back out into the store, the woman asked how they were. When I told her they didn't fit me right, she didn't bat an eye and asked if I had tried another scrubs store down the road. I found that super helpful and decent of her to suggest that, even if it meant losing business. Right on! If I ever need anything that their store might have, I'll definitely be going back. read more

Worst customer service ever. My bf bought a pair of his first 501 "Shrink to fit" jeans. Since he had never had them before, the sales person "helped" him find his size and they fit when he tried them on. We washed them that night and they over-shrunk to where his ankles were showing and he could no longer button them. I took the pants back with the receipt to exchange them for a larger size. They refused to exchange because they were washed...even though they were never worn. I have never had a company be so greedy and not worried about losing a good customer (he buys his work clothes there and will no longer do so). I had a very pleasant experience today when I came in to buy scrubs. I walked in looking like I had just come out of the gym (I was in moving clothes) and was immediately greeted by a very professional gentleman. He directed me to scrubs, and answered all my questions regarding men's vs. women's cuts. I was in and out in 10 minutes thanks to him. The place was clean, well-lit, and well-organized. It's obvious that they actually care about their jobs. And the prices! For Dickies scrubs I paid approximately $12-16 per piece. Yep, I'll be back. read more

However when my dad went in to get help with a defective product he was not paid much attention and was only told that they were sorry. This place is pretty unique to anything I've ever seen. The name says it all, work world, they have anything and everything you can imagine you'll need as far as uniforms and service work related attire. When you walk in, it feels like a musty warehouse but don't be fooled, they have quality good for a great price and a helpful staff to assist you. During my visit here, I was in a bit of a rush but they wasn't a problem for the staff. They were so prompt with everything which was great. I had to buy scrubs for my new job and Work World has good quality Dickies brand ones in so many different colors for like 10 bucks per piece. It was such a relief cause I had originally gone to a scrubs store, which was packed to the gills with racks of clothes, really confusing to navigate and figure out how the scrubs were priced, expensive, and a little lacking in customer service. The ladies at Work World were really down to earth, friendly, and helpful. They leave you alone when you don't need their help. It's not an intimidating place to shop. There's tons of other stuff there that I would buy. I will probably go back and buy more scrubs from them. Their store is really big, but the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is cause I wish it were even bigger! Love this place. My husband is going there today to buy scrubs for his job. read more

HORRIBLE experience buying boots at this store. Extremely Rude, absolutely 0 customer service, and I am extremely unhappy with the experience I had with these people. The first time I came to the store I bought a pair of boots and the red headed lady that explained to me that I should buy Keens because they are great for wide feet, and said I should not even look at any other boots if I have wide feet. I picked out a pair I liked tried them on, walked around a bit(they felt ok at the time) bought them and left. I wore the boots for half a days workin side a carpeted office building, and on my right foot the boots were extremely uncomfortable, and gave me two big blood blisters on my toe and side of my foot. Took them off luckily I had my other pair of boots with me, and figured I could take them back. I cleaned them off, there were no marks, scuffs, anything but a little haze on the bottom of the boot after I wiped them with a wet cloth and they dried. When I purchased the boots I remember distinctly thinking and telling my my mother who was with me if I could get another pair because these look like they had been worn before. There work boots who cares. Long story short, I go to take them back and was denied and told to just buy another pair of boots. Well not being able to walk on my right foot with this boot on I went to boot barn and was helped out the entire time I was there, Tim was running bringing me every boot he had in the store that fit my style to try on. After a phone call from my angry mother work world decided they were going to take my boots back, sorry Tim, so I head over there and from the moment I walked in the store I felt the extreme agitation in the red head girls eyes. I set the bolts on the counter and she says ok you can look at the boots, while she examines my boots again and the 4 workers must have had a very boring day because they had to stand in a circle and talk loudly about their little comment on the recent that says you cannot wear the boots outside of you want to return them. Maybe you could have helped me a little bit instead of sit there and talk crap behind my back like I couldn't hear you??? Are you kidding me? You f&&&$&& highlighted your little paper? What happened to the nice African American man that used to work here. You guys are a joke!!! I paid $50 more for the other pair of boots?!!Did you really need to highlight your rules for me? Trust me you will never see me in your store again, and I will be reporting this incident to the BBB. read more

Had to buy work pants one day, I stopped by Work World on Arden in a rush. The staff was very quick in assisting me to find exactly what I was looking for and (being of non average body type) further delighted me by having the correct size in stock and quickly setting me up with a changing room. I was happy with the experience. A week later the very same pair of pants had a manufacturer defect that came up, the clasp for the waistband broke. Unfortunately, due to my hurried situation when I bought the pants, my receipt was lost to the winds of chance. Despite this misfortune I called to see if there was anything that could be done to help me. The gentleman that answered the phone told me to bring them back in and we'll look at them. When I got finally got to the store they immediately recognized me from my previous trip, inspected the obviously defective pants and made sure I left with a smile and new pants. Good job guys! As a result of this problem free return visit I will certainly shop again at this store. I new work pants every few months and Work World on Arden has made a customer for as long as I live in Sacramento valley. read more

This employees of this store are racist and will assume you are going to steal if you are a POC. I witnessed an employee (female, white, blonde, mid 50s who I believe is the assistant manager) block the exit while my boyfriend had looked at work pants presuming he would steal although he did not have any items in hand. She then approached my boyfriend and gave him unsolicited and incorrect information about Carhartt B11 pants. He kindly declined her service but she was persistent. As someone who has worked retail for many years, I am familiar with this technique and how it is used to prevent theft. We found it inappropriate and refuse to give business to a company that makes customers who aren't white uncomfortable while in store. I wish we had read the reviews from others on here who have shared a similar experience before coming today. I hope that they address this issue in order to promote inclusivity and provide a service to the POC that dominate the trades here in Sacramento. read more

I really wasn't impressed with the prices and staff. The moment I got there the tall blonde lady was acting strange and every boot I tried on she would pick it up right away and put it back in the box. I asked her to leave it on the ground because I was going to be comparing a number of boots to see which ones were more comfortable for my feet. She replied " I ain't going to just leave the boots on the ground". Wow she acted as if I was going to steal them. She made it very difficult for me to shop there and I felt rushed. I'm not from the area so I asked the African American bald male at the register if they had been burglarized before or if they tend to shop lift a lot at this location. Work World USED to be great. However! They got this new guy with a Napoleon complex as an Assistant Manager. For Father's day my daughter bought (with her own money) two pairs of Dickies shorts for her dad and we accidently bought them too big, so we went in this afternoon so he could get the right size and the right kind. We walk in and we're greeted with "Swapin stuff out" but the voice was flat and dry. I thought " great.... not this &*(^ guy again! My husband tells the guy I am looking for these particular Dickies shorts" pointing to the ones he has on and the guy insists that the ones on the rack are them. So.... to make a long story longer, my husband says " see how mine have a button and these have a clasp and they are a different material? I ordered these online and was wondering if you have these ones?" The guy was so rude and starts arguing with us. Needless to say, we exchange for a shirt and leave. My husband walks back in and ripped him a new you know what. I call the District Manager and he was very sweet and apologized for his well known "abrupt behavior". So wait a minute... you know he's abrupt and rude and they went ahead and promoted him to assistant manager? WTH? He needs to be de moted to stock guy where he doesn't have to deal with people. I originally went here with my auto mechanic housemate because he needed some winter work shoes. No multi-hued hipster-wannabee Doc martins in this place. Just a big selection of real-deal safety shoes and work boots. I commute to work on a bike every day and asked the sales man if they had any lightweight reflective safety vests. He said "sure do" and found me just the right one in light fluorescent green with big stripes of reflective tape on it. And I found they have all different colors of surgical scrubs for $20 a pair (they make great pajamas). IF you do any kind of work outside, this is THE place to get all your gear. I went into the arden way work world with my wife and 5 year old daughter to spend the last of of my hard earned pay check that week on a GOOD pair of boots. They have plenty of people working there but as we all know quality over quanity every time. Well I dont know about anybody else but, customer service is usually done withon the customers vacininty not clear over by the front doora which is where the clerk decided to help me from and that would of been ok if i wasnt clear over by the boots. Half the stiore distance away. He was obviously guarsing the door from theft the only problem is me and my wife and 5 yo daughter werre the only customers in the store. Along with the at least three employees on the floor and Bout tje store. I ended up getting a pair of wovwrines that cost me 139.00 dollars with steel toes and FAKE leather toe. I got uponday. Put my new boots on for work and My dog chewed up the box they came in within moments of me. Leaving it unatended O woeried dor a moment that what of i have to return these boots and then I said to myself I won't have to do that I paid good money for a good pair of wolverines that I've always wanted and sure as shit I get to work and the toes made of fake leather and it work just chewed up the toe of it and I mean I can't wear these four month and they'll be destroyed so I took him back after the first day of wearing them and again I couldn't return them because I don't have my box or my receipt I bought it on a credit card but they can't check like that one of the only chain stores in America that can't do that I guess disgusting customer service made me feel like a second-class citizen I'll never recommend Work World to anyone the product sucks and the customer service sucks...... read more
