My boyfriend went to vans today to get me shoes for my birthday. It was supposed to be a surprise and I sure was suprised when I received two right shoes and different sizes. One was a size 5.5 and the other was an 8 both in woman's! I would have been like ok it was a mistake but my boyfriend informed me of their encounter and I seemed like TYE was more interesting in a boyfriend than doing his job. TLDR: Go to zumiez! I was in need of a truck for my skateboard, I went into the store and found the part I needed priced at individual sale. The store clerk and manager told me I had to purchase a pair and repeated themselves after I asked why they are priced for individual sale. Worst experience ever, i will be contacting corporate, janay or jonay or whatever the managers name was was very rude, i had an employee sale (i work in another store) my co worker and i went in and she was buying shoes and normally we just show a pay stub and give our employee number, this manager however was asking for extra unnecessary information, and when we asked if they could call our home store (which has been done in the past) she refused, then skipped us in line. No warning or saying she was going to help the next guest, she just took the next guest then disappeared for 15 minutes. Ultimately if you want to shop at vans i recommend either Roseville or the Outlets in Folsom. Also if you are the manager that "helped" us, the regional manager will hear about this as well as my personal connections to corporate. read more

I'll start by saying that I love vans and have worn their shoes since I was 11 years old. Their shoe styles are always clean and classic. However, after my last encounter at this vans store, I can say for certain that I would rather travel to a further location than come back to the Arden store. I ordered the classic white vans (to be sent to my house) at the store because they were out of my size at the moment. Once the shoes arrived, I realized I had ordered the wrong size. My mistake, so I put them back in the box and called the Arden store to see if they had my size in stock yet so I could just do an exchange. They confirmed and so I went to their store and brought my online order up to the register to ask them if I could do an exchange. Before I could even ask about the exchange, the cashier complained to me about returning merchandise. He shamed me for returning the shoes until I told him I just wanted to do an exchange. That improved his attitude and he called for a shift lead to process the exchange. The shift lead came up, took a quick look at my shoes, and immediately told me I couldn't return used shoes and that I should leave. I told him I had just received the shoes via the online order and that I hadn't worn them (which I hadn't). He told me there was a scuff of the side of the shoe. I looked and saw a small scuff no larger than one inch that had been there when I received the shoes. He then implied that I was just trying to make money off of vans by "exchanging obviously used shoes." There were no marks other than that scuff. I told him I had nothing to gain other than having the right size shoes and he told me he could ask the other shift lead if I "really insist." So I did, and the other shift lead apparently told him to exchange the shoe because he came back in a huff saying "well since we have no idea what really happened to the shoes I guess I'll just have to do the exchange. But don't expect this in the future." This really ruined my image of vans because I have been a diehard fan of theirs for so long and it was really shitty to have a place I love so much treat me so poorly. So tldr; accidentally ordered the wrong shoe size online, went to Arden to get them exchanged, received shitty service and had to be accused of trying to make a profit off or exchanging brand neq shoes in the wrong size before finally getting the exchange. read more

Had an amazing experience yesterday at this vans location! I had brought my cousin from out of state to grab some shoes and the whole time we were there it was great & lively! Ray helped us out immensely and made sure my cousin was able to find the shoes she wanted and have them held at her location. I just put a review on for the Journeys shoe store in the same mall because the Vans store was a terrible customer NO service nightmare! We had a gift card to spend there, but I will not go there again! We waited for someone - Anyone to help us. There were 2 other customers in the store. There were 3 employees roaming and they just left us standing there for 10 minutes at least. The 2 employees not engaged with customers were discussing some mutual aquaintance (they were not kind to her) and hanging stock on the racks. I was dissapointed! read more

I have a shoe problem. Most of my friends know this. If we go out shopping, instead of buying clothes, I'll buy shoes. I mean, who wouldn't?! 99% of the time you know they'll fit perfectly AND they won't make you look fat! Anyways...I used to wear Converse back in the day but now I'm a Vans Girl for life. I'll typically try and make it into the Vans store regularly to see what selection they have but a lot of the time I have to resort to ordering from the website. Don't get me wrong, the staff is always helpful and attentive. It's just that a lot of the time the newest styles take a while to get stocked in stores and I can save myself the hassle and gas and just order online. I remember back when I first started wearing Vans (YEARS AGO) and the store used to be so tiny that you would be claustrophobic being crammed in there with all of the other hungry shoe buyers. I'm so glad that the stores have been expanded and you can comfortably walk in and not have to worry about being bothered by other shoppers. The only thing I wish would happen is that there would be another shoe wall since Vans has SO many styles and colors and sometimes I do get a little bummed when they don't have what I'm looking for if I want a pair ASAP. I tend to lean towards Authentics, Old Skools, Slip Ons, and occasionally a good pair of Hi-Tops IF they have cool colors (I wear this style the least). That's another thing I love about Vans, they have so many different styles and color combinations to choose from and they're always unique. An average pair of Vans will run you about $40-$50, but in my experience these shoes LAST! And they're incredibly comfortable. read more

I have been shopping here for years but will not come back. After my last pair of shoes fell apart, I came in today to get a new pair. I was ignored by the people in the back for 10 minutes and when I got fed up waiting I went to the front to just get the shoes I wanted in my size. I was told I needed to go back and wait longer. Personally I don't know why Vans would give their employees headsets if they don't use them to coordinate a quick purchase. My suggestion go somewhere else but something else. read more

I took my daughter here today to get the hi tops she wanted. I was so impressed with the customer service we received! A very sweet girl approached us first and got one style for us. While she was in back, a guy noticed my daughter found a different style and also helped us to get those. Both of the employees laced up the shoes for us - who even offers to do that anymore? I'm so mortified at the customer service I received from Josh s. He looked to be in charged. He was so terribly rude to us. Than argued with us that a shoe was listed on the tag for 70 but lied to me and said it was 75. After which when he grabbed our receipt he just dropped it on the counter. Honestly, nothing much to say about this place. They asked me to come in for an interview at 3:00pm and apparently the manager left. I showed up at 3:05. I'm guessing patience is not a key factor. I went to get a haircut to look presentable and drove all the way from Citrus Heights acting like gas is $2.00. I was really looking forward to it, but never mind. However, it only took them a couple minutes to help me and when they did the came out with the right size and half a size bigger, they also gave me a similar color they thought I might like.
