Ordered the normal stuff a few cream cheese breads, conchas, and some stuffed fruit pastries. The concha was so soft that I thought it was a dream. In fact everything was AWESOME except for one thing. The empanadas, I grew up on hard shell empanadas, this place had a soft cookie kind of a shell just not my cup of tea. I perused the store and selected brittle, taffy, and chocolates as part of a taste testing for the whole team to determine which items were the best to consider as gifts for our customers. Staff was friendly and accomodating, and even offered me a sample after I completed my purchase. Oddly, despite spending about $70 and explaining what I was doing with my purchases, I didn't get a receipt. I dropped an email to the store and received a quick reply and was provided with a picture of the receipt that was quite small and blurry, though thankfully our AP department didn't question it too much and I still got reimbursed for the purchase! And if you were wondering, the taffy was surprisingly good, but wasn't labeled on the package in terms of what flavors were in each bag, so that was a big turn off for our taste testers. The chocolates were a big hit and will be a finalist for our customer gifts!

I read about Burke moving in to this Whitefish Bay location, so I wanted to give them a try. I really wanted to give them the highest rating, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Super cute shop. Has a nice old time feel to it. Walking in to the place, you find a large selection of many different confections. The "factory" is at their other location downtown Milwaukee. Got greeted by two friendly staff members. Very helpful at explaining the different items and offered to allow me to sample (I did have one piece of the peanut butter crunch). You can either get individual items from the case, or there are pre-packed items on the other walls. I got a mix of different items. Ones that I have found can be a big tricky to make. Fairy Food, Marshmallow, and Caramel. And to be honest I was a bit disappointed. Summer can be a hard to time to make/keep sponge candy (fairy food), and some places don't even make it this time of year because the humidity can make it sticky. Marshmallow has a short shelf life and can get tough. This was exactly my experience with these two items. The chocolate itself was very good. And the presentation was also very impressive wit the other items. They did wrap up everything in attractive cellophane bags with ribbon, and placed in a gift bag with a custom ribbon. Perfect for gift giving. So overall a good (but not great experience). I would stop back again, but keep away from some of the humidity sensitive items.

The mango peach was very good! Tasted perfectly balance between mango and peach with neither over powering the other. The coconut lime was outstanding! I wish I would have bought more. It was slightly tart from the lime, creamy and sweet from the coconut. I sadly forgot to take a picture of this one but you could see little flecks of the lime zest in the popsicle. I chose the strawberry Hawaiian shaved ice bowl with chocolate drizzle and Moochie pieces. It's not a true Hawaiian shave ice, if you've had it in Hawaii. However, the strawberry flavor was very real and fresh tasting. The chocolate drizzle made it taste like a chocolate covered strawberry. The Moochie squares were just an OK addition to the bowl. It's $9.50 for the bowl I got. I thought that was a little expensive since that's the price I paid for a shave ice in Hawaii. I sat down on a shaded patio table set next to the market, and in less than five minutes on a 73° day, it was already almost a bowl of soup. Good thing I grabbed a straw because that's the way I ended up eating it. They do give you a small compostable scoop, which is way too small. It's also served in a paper dish, which I appreciate the sustainability effort, but it turned very flimsy since my shave ice had melted. Overall, I think the product tasted good but was a little overpriced and I did not like the serving methods.

Using their website for ordering pickup in advance was a bit of a frustrating experience, with it not acknowledging the selected bakery and having to restart the entire order (though I am not faulting this location for the franchise's technology failures). I finally was able to confirm a pickup time and place and made our way there at that time. There was no one in the bakery when we arrived, including staff, though someone did come out shortly after and I gave them my name for the order. They reappeared quickly and handed me my bag--for the price of these desserts, I was expecting a little nicer presentation than a thin paper bag with a Nothing Bundt Cakes sticker securing the bag. Also absent were any kind of instructions; are these to be kept refrigerated, or should they be brought to room temperature? I asked and received the answer, but what if I hadn't thought to ask? As far as taste is concerned, they were good little cakes, maybe a touch small for the price and the lack of presentation. They often have BOGO deals and I might take that approach if I decide to get these again in the future.
