March 21: I was disappointed by my last stop at Breadsmith. The chocolate biscotti was rock hard and cut the inside of my mouth like glass. I threw out the bag, even though the expiration date on the bag said April 10. I bought she sourdough soup boule and it tasted just like Butternut white bread. It didn't taste at all like sourdough and it had the texture and taste of white bread. It tasted commercial. read more

They have a great little location here in Whitefish Bay! Generally, their products are pretty great. But I've particularly liked the ciabatta and the bread bowls. The brownies were fantastic too! read more

Date of visit: April 6, 2024 I've had reason to come in here a couple times in the last couple of weeks and am reminded of just how much I like bread, and Breadsmith bread in particular. There is always a nice variety of breads available and I brought my mom some of the rhubarb jam the last time I was there and she really liked it. This time around the recommended I sign up for their loyalty program; I did that when I got home and I have a month to go back and get a free loaf. A free loaf of bread? That's like telling a drunk there's an open bar! Really my only issue here is that when you come in, they say hello but never look at you when they say it, so I have no idea who is saying hello or if they are even saying hello to me. I feel weird saying it back when I have no idea if it was even intended for me! read more

Holy smells! I'd go back just for that. You can tell the instant you walk in just how fresh their bread is. I've actually never been into this location, but I was on bread duty for dinner and as I was driving through Whitefish Bay, I realized this location was here. I popped in and was greeted by a friendly, mask-wearing employee. He quickly checked me out for the sesame seed French baguette I requested. Since I knew what I needed, I was in and out, but certaiblh eager to return. They offer a really large selection of bread loafs, plus things like biscottis, burger buns, pizza dough, dessert breads, and more. Oh and little jarred items including fresh jam and spreads. Our baguette was delicious - a nice crunch on the outside, and a soft middle. They did not disappoint! read more

Phenomenal bread and service! Stopped by the store after work because a coworker had brought their chocolate chip banana bread! I bought this bread along with a chocolate chip pumpkin muffin. Hands down very delicious and moist! I highly recommend! Great tip, they also have a punch card that after you purchase 12 breads/products, you get the 13th one free! Great incentive! Will certainly be returning! There is two hour parking in the back! read more

What stood out? I'm glad you asked. It's 10:20 AM on a Saturday. I ordered the cherry brownies. Staff replied, "Sorry, they are not ready. I have been too busy to cut them into sections." So because someone couldn't get their job done even after being open for over two hours the store owner lost a sale. Nice work kid. Imagine owning a store one day and having someone like you being the face of the company. read more

Why buy grocery store bread!! Even at $5 bucks a loaf, it's still a good deal. I signed up online for their discount coupon. Buy one bread at full price & receive a daily loaf for $1 buck. The coupons are emailed monthly Also, take advantage of the bread card which gives you your 11'th loaf for free. Arrive early for best selection as it thins out later in the day. Free parking on the back side, 4 spots only. The Multigrain is my favorite & the Rye makes for a rockin' grilled Ruben. The Danishes / bakery are a little dry, stick with the bread & rolls. The desert breads are good as well. The Pumpkin desert bread is my favorite. Free desert bread on your Birthday month for those who sign up online. read more

I have ordered a number of breads and rolls at Breadsmith's for parties I was hosting. This is a decent local bakery. I did have an issue when they sold my 4 dozen dinner rolls I had ordered by accident. They had to call in the bakers and make a new batch for me. They were done about an hour before my party. The owner gave me a free loaf of bread to apologize for the mistake. It made my party preparation quite stressful and I was amazed to think they couldn't have better organization to prevent this from happening. The three stars are on account of this incident and of course it would have been one star of the owner hadn't gone out of her way to correct the error. This will easily move to four or five stars, but I cannot easily overcome the stress I experienced from their disorganization. read more

I went there to buy the pumpkin chocolate dessert bread based on a recommendation from a friend. The bakery is expensive, its a good place to go once in a while. I signed up for their promo emails you get a coupon good for the whole month - you have to buy any bread at full price and you get any of the daily breads for a $1. Its not a bad deal they will even slice it for you. They do offer samples too. The first time I went there the staff was so rude - you're better off going after 2pm the staff is are nicer and much more accommodating. PS: Don't forget to ask for and get your frequent loaf card punched. read more

We love Breadsmith. Our favorite is the French loaf and the chocolate chip banana bread. Great variety of breads and love the punch card.

Great Bread but the door says they open at seven AM. My wife and I are retired. I went in at 7:30 as the door was open. Some snotty kid said in a snotty voice, "We don't open until 8 you'll have to come back then." To which I replied "No thanks I'll just take my business elsewhere." I won't be back. You don't have a monopoly on bread!!! read more

I LOVE their Bread. I can't go back to mass manufactured bread now that I am hooked on Breadsmith. A couple things: -Get the punch card (I buy two loafs at a time and have them slice and double bag it and put them in the freezer) -If you bring your own bag, you get a free punch! -Get a free sample! YUM! They make homemade granola that looks really good but I haven't tried it yet and croutons! Their dinner rolls are great! I don't know what it is about the staff there, like the other reviewer mentioned, they are hit and miss in terms of the service. Sometimes you get meano people and other times they are super nice and will throw a couple extra rolls in for free.....what gives? read more

Good bread, not so good customer service. It's no wonder the stores on silver spring are going out of business. I ordered a pumpkin chocolate chip loaf for pick up. When I got home later, I noticed it was missing the chocolate chips but my family had already cut into it and eaten some. It was fine and really good, but I went back to the tell them of THEIR mistake, the woman behind the counter was rude and said "I'm not part of the morning shift." And provided no offerings to make up for the mistake. I really wanted something with chocolate chips (which I said) so ordered a scone and was still charged for it. A nice gesture for the mistake would be to: 1. Provide a new CORRECT Loaf or 2. Let me have the chocolate chip scone to make up for the error. Just providing feedback to next time, think about your customers a little more. read more

The bread here is pretty good and reasonably priced. Definitely better than most mass produced breads that you can get at the grocery store, but not as good as some of the artisanal breads you get in major cities. However, service is really hit or miss. Sometimes the staff is great (there's a young guy in particular who is super polite). Other times (like my most recent visit) the staff is horribly rude and disrespectful. I've been to several Breadsmith locations on multiple visits and you always get in line to order. At this most recent visit, the cashier basically refused to serve to me because she felt that someone else had entered the store before me (the other couple was trying to decide what to order and let me go ahead in line while they were looking at stuff on a table). When the cashier tried to ignore me, the other couple said I should go ahead and I was next in line. Still the cashier just stared at me and said again the other couple was here first. I've never seen this lady before in my life but it seemed like she just decided she didn't like me. There are lots of places to buy bread in the area, so I left without buying anything and I won't be back. I hope this location raises its expectations for staff. read more

Love Breadsmith in Whitefish Bay!! Our favorite dessert breads are banana and almond poppyseed. Flavorful, moist, long fresh life, and reasonably priced. I've left a review on the FB page; Breadsmith never disappoints! But I have a question. An earlier reviewer says something about receiving an extra stamp on your punch card if you "bring your own bag", and I was assured that this is indeed the case. But when I did, I was told that was only for the special Breadsmith bag that was a promotion some time ago. The gal reluctantly gave me a free punch anyway, but I'd like to know about the special bag, or exactly what kind of a bag are we talking about. I like to be kind to the environment, but I don't want to cheat. I think Breadsmith is very generous anyway with free samples and the monthly $1 bread coupon. But I'm always up for saving a buck or two! read more

The bread is fresh and delicious. However, aside from the traditional breads I found any of the dessert breads to be overly sweet and and light on flavor. I've visited several times, tried many things and have typically been disappointed. read more
