a plate of breakfast food on a table

Food is great but service is slow. It's a family buisness for sure so can't complain much about that. It feels homey in there

This place is one of the best hole in the wall breakfast joints I've ever stumbled upon! The staff were so kind and attentive, the small space felt so welcoming and homey, and the food was PHENOMENAL. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and they did not disappoint. The cook sat down to take my order, gave helpful suggestions as I was a first timer, and remembered me by name. I highly recommend Woodees!

What a great little spot which I would say is a local hang out and great breakfast spot. I would recommend this place when you are in town. Great friendly service with food to match.

Lol! We would show you the food- but we scarfed it ALL down!

We drive from California to a Omaha and back about every six months - this is DEFINITELY a place you should stop if you can. The bacon is SO midwest - LOVE it! The food is awesome- the people are awesome- the price is awesome! We will see you all in another six months! Thanks for filling us up for the long drive!

Great food and a sense of humor. The "Woodee" is two eggs, choice of meat, hash browns or a darn good pancake plus toast!!

What a great spot. Neighborhood restaurant vibe with mature, high functioning staff. Great food, great prices, great service. Appeared to have many regular customers. I definitely would be one if I lived in Lincoln.

Veggie omelet. Stuff with hash browns. Did I eat that? Yep.

Hometown kind of restaurant. Friendly, fast & fun service. Great prices. Nothing fancy, but worth the time to stop and enjoy.

Can't beat a local breakfast place. Everything ordered came out hot and delicious. Enjoyed the haystack.

Really has the traditional diner atmosphere. Very generous portions for what it costs.

I sat at the bar and had phenomenal service. I got the Aragon burger with a tallow fries, covered in bacon jam! I will have to say, this is one of the better burgers I've ever had in my life. It came out very hot, juicy, and cooked perfectly. The sauce is super yummy. But it's a grilled onions that really make it. The fries came out hot, crispy, and very tasty. This is a phenomenal restaurant with some very good food. Unless you're lucky you get a seat at the bar, I'm sure reservations are required.

Service was very good. We were seated promptly and asked if we were ready for the next course at appropriate times. We had the 3 course dinner with the summer salad, lasagna Bianca and steak. I personally thought the salad was the best! The array of flavors was very satisfying from the crunch of the pine nuts to the smoothness of the ricotta to the tanginess of the dressing. Would highly recommend. The lasagna was good... but very one note... and that note is "richness". It didn't really taste like anything more, which in effect made it not much different from an ordinary lasagna I could make at home and not pay that much for it. The steak was not well seasoned, which I wouldn't have minded but the cook was a bit beyond the medium rare I asked for. Overall I probably would be back to try something else. But dish is still superior in terms of fine dining in Lincoln in my opinion.

We definitely had low expectations for a basement bar, but it was actually really great! Food was good (not high quality) and the drinks were quick. It was weird to have a slightly carbonated margarita, but it was cheap so it was good. We went on a Wednesday night, so we didn't expect it to be full and it wasn't, so that was nice. We didn't know what to expect from an underground bar with $4 margaritas in a college town, but it was a fun place! They have darts, arcades, a huge jenga, and other games available to play. There's a big bar in the center and another small one by the arcade games. They have some good food and drink deals for happy hour and late night. Food was okay, nothing to come here for, but good if you need a nosh while you drink. They had a walking taco, which surprised me! The bar selection was surprising, they have good bourbon like Eagle Rare, Blanton's, and Weller and top shelf liquors of other kinds too. Bathrooms were okay, the toilet seat on one of the toilets was wobbly so that would be a bad situation if you've had too much to drink! It also smelled weird, but again it's a basement bar in a college town so I'll pick my battles.

When you walk in, you are hit with the smell of fresh burgers and sides being prepared in front of you. It's a counter order style restaurant where you order first then sit and collect your food after. We tried a little of everything during this visit: Burgers, Sweet potato fries and Parmesan truffle fries. The burger was definitely the star of the show. The Reading Rainbow has a hearty portion of peanut butter on it, combined with their version of jelly, making this burger extremely filling. Now to the fries, and reason for 4 stars. Both of our fries arrived a little cooler than I would expect for freshly made items. The sweet potato fries were crispy, yet lacked flavor. The truffle fries were disappointing. They were very dry and had what seemed like seasoning and cheese dumped in the container. I'd expect some oil for the "truffle" label, but there appeared to be none. Overall, I'd be willing to give Honest Abe's another try for their sides and try another burger to see how it compares!
