We decided on trying a new restaurant and decided this sounded like a good place. It is doggy friendly in the patio. And they have two sides for outdoor seating! Our server was Candace and she is pretty darn wonderful. Even though we were sitting outside she kept checking on us. I had the Toasty Brunch Bowl. It was yummy. It had potatoes on the bottom mixed with corn pepper and cheese and mixed in together with pieces of deep fried chicken. Almost like popcorn chicken pieces i would have preferred if the pieces were a little larer though. I ordered lavender lemonade. It didnt have a strong lavender smell at all. We visited late in the lunch "hour" on a weekday. It was busy, but not packed. There were many servers working. Hannah was our server. We ordered from the lunch menu. I had Chicken Salad sandwich with Artichoke Dip and chips. Mom had Beef & Barley soup with a half Reuben sandwich. Our food arrived in a decent amount of time. The portions were decent for lunch and the artichoke dip was very tasty. My sandwich looked great, but when I finally tried it, it was bone dry. There was mustard and ketchup on the table, neither of which seemed good for adding to the sandwich (I hate mustard), so I decided slowly eat my chips and dip until Hannah checked on us. Hannah never checked on us. No servers checked on us or slowed down enough to even ask them for some mayo, etc. I finally choked down the sandwich and headed to the restroom before we left, then she came over to Mom with the ticket, which was too late. read more

We aren't "regulars". We live a couple of states away but found "Toast" a couple of years ago and have returned each time we travel down I-80. Imagine our surprise when "Palindrome Hannah" remembered us and welcomed us back!!! You can't make this up! She said her hair is lighter now; mine (which is silver) can't get any lighter! Fun staff, great food, and a boisterous Friday Afternoon Club crowd. Make this your destination if you live in Lincoln or like us, are just passing through! I recommend the meat loaf (really? Met friends there for dinner on the 26th of November, service was great our waitress did a great job the 3 stars relate to the food I ordered the steak stroganoff the steak was good but the noodles was a big clumped together pile of dried up mush as though it was left over and had been microwaved. The other orders were sandwiches and were sud par. Asked our waitress if the noodles were normally like this she said no and did offer to remake but I'd didn't have confidence that they could make it right so I ate the steak and picked at the noodles. This was my second visit to Toast. Service was friendly, prompt, and accommodating. We started with the parmesan and artichoke dip. This was GOOD. The dip was tasty and the chips with fresh with the perfect amount of salt. I had the Heartland Burger. It was very good, but so large that I had to eat it with a fork and a knife. I love the flavors of the slaw, chili sauce, and corn fritter all mixed. Two members of our party ordered steaks. Both said it was a little chewy. My boyfriend ordered the beef stroganoff. He said it could have used more sauce and the steak was chewy on his dish, as well. Definitely some highs and lows, but I think this is a good spot if you order the right dish. read more

This place had been on my list for awhile, so we decided to come here for dinner on a Tues night before a concert at Pinnacle Bank Arena to avoid the Haymarket crowds. Located in the Fallbrook town center in north Lincoln, the area was very pretty and there was plenty of parking available. We were seated immediately, but service was extremely slow. It took over 10 min for someone to stop by our table. Another 10-15 min to get drinks, etc. We were probably there for almost 2 hours by the time we were done, which was not ideal when we had a concert to get to. Service was certainly friendly, just slow, so not sure if staffing was an issue. On to the food -- for an appetizer, we had the parmesan and artichoke dip, which was very good, would definitely order this again. We scarfed it down! For my main course, I ordered the thai chicken wrap with fries, which was visibly a small portion served on a large tray. Presentation was odd. Quality was just ok, nothing special, just a pretty average wrap and fries. Overall, our visit fell short of my expectations, was hoping for more elevated bar food experience. We didn't try any of the entrees on the menu, but they did look good, with offerings such as stroganoff, mac and cheese, salmon, meatloaf, etc. Would give them another shot, but if service was that slow on a Tuesday, I would be leery of trying to go on a weekend night. read more

My first time to Lincoln, NE and was looking for a decent local restaurant. I first made the mistake of searching restaurants on Google Maps and it recommended a Chinese restaurant close by. Luckily I also checked Yelp and noticed that that same restaurant was rated less than 4 stars. I continued the search and it took me here. I couldn't have been more pleased. I was greeted with happy smiling faces by the hostess, my order was taken within 5 minutes of being seated, drink came out in 2 mins and food in less than 10 mins. Service is extremely important in the restaurant business and this place does not disappoint. On to the food. There is an ample selection of food choices from burgers to entrees and the like but I decided to try their meatloaf. Meatloaf's can be hit or miss based on its moistness and consistency and again, this place delivered! It was so moist and tasty with the grilled onions veggies inside and topped with a honey glazed sauce which was so tasty! I supplemented the meatloaf with slaw (so-so) and their garlic green beans (superb!). Lastly, I ordered an Arnold Palmer. To my surprise, it came out in a massive mason jar and tasted so refreshing! Service was great. We showed up for brunch right at open but so did a 20 top. There was 7 of us. Considering the packed restaurant, the staff handlers everything very well. Although we waited for about an hour for our food and then the food is described below. The drinks and service was great but the food overall was poor to below average for all of us. I got the French dip and all I got was grizzle and burnt cheese. Our main guest got the steak and it was well done when she asked for medium rare. The food was also pretty cold but one persons food was still steaming or warm. Other people got the brunch bowl and the Mac and cheese. Those people liked their food. The atmosphere was nice. I might call this fancy bar food. Ok, fancier than bar food but this is very much like a brewery. Burgers, sandwiches, salads, pizza, pasta. I had the Cobb Salad. It was enjoyable. Large. I was not a fan of the weird fried avocado patties that came with it. I was also not impressed that I had rotten tomatoes, but I know that happens. One of my friends had the veggie burger. She said it was a good homemade patty with carrots, peppers, whole chickpeas and it paired well with the bacon jam. She also liked how it was seasoned but there was no heat/spice. The bun was nice and big. The green beans were ok but she thought she was getting fried green beans and was a little disappointed. My other friend had the Dublin pub melt. He's very much a meat and potato, non-adventurous eater and was nervous about the Dijon mustard. Overall, though, he loved the flavors of the patty melt with mushrooms, onions, gouda, and mustard. The sandwiches are solid and lunch portions are fair sized, I usually have a bit leftover. I've had mostly good service with one glaring exception. Brought my family and a colleague for Sunday lunch after church. The host was extremely short and rude but that's an outlier from my other experiences. We went SchillingBridge Cork & Tap House to find out they were closed on Tuesdays. A friendly local person, who was meeting a friend at the Tap House, recommended to us to go across the street to Toast (she followed her advice once her friend arrived). So glad she point us to Toast. Service was courteous and what it appears to be CDC complaint - servers wearing gloves and mask and tables 6+ feet apart. Good tasty mixology for their drinks. Food was mixed reviews. My husband had the Fresh Salmon which appears in the menu as grilled to medium-well and he found it to be dry. I had the Braised Pot Roast with res wine gravy and I thought It was excellent - tender, juicy, and for someone who dislike American gravy this one was very tasty, more like a creamy stroganoff kind. We both had the sautéed green beans, perfectly cooked and flavored. I asked for a replacement on the carbs and was served Parmesan & Artichoke Dip with celery & carrot sticks.
