an airplane hanging from the ceiling

I had high hopes for Greg's Restaurant. I love mom and pop type places, they usually have the best of everything (food, people and history) but I didn't find that at Greg's. We visited late in the afternoon so I wasn't surprised to not see many cars. It looks like it's been updated or just well maintained and when we walked inside we were pleasantly surprised. There are airplanes hanging all around and a great big retro sign welcomes you (well I'm sure it would be welcoming if it was turned out but for some reason it wasn't. After my meal there I'm guessing it was to cut costs.) The menu is simple bar food. My sister and I each got the bacon cheeseburger special, $5.99 for burger and fries. Drink was extra. Since there weren't many people we had our choice of seating, so we found a spot right by the really cute Husker kids tables (perfect for my one year old niece). While we waited for food, we talked about how hot and stuff it was and how dirty the carpeting looked. The decorations, however, well done. One of the women behind the counter (I assume one of the owners) brought our food on a plastic tray. She was very friendly. The presentation was clean and retro. She brings with your meal one side of ketchup. Anything else costs extra. Even a refill, $.25. Lettuce, $.40. Neither of us were impressed with our burgers. The buns were nice. Very pretty. The buns tasted like the freezer patties you can get at WalMart. The fries, nothing fancy. My sister also ordered milk for my niece. It was $1.50 for a small glass and it was frozen. Again, I'm guessing this is another cost saving measure but my niece refused to drink it. We don't typically give her frozen, chunky milk. All in all it was pretty expensive for what you get. The food wasn't outstanding. The service was great, but with the wealth of food options in the city, that's not enough. I also wish there was more of an explanation behind the story of Greg's. Who is Greg. What's with the planes? How long have you been around? Maybe that would have made me feel more connected. The entire time I just kept thinking I have no idea why I've heard such good things about this place. I won't be back. Also, this is cash/check only.

After driving past for a few years and reading the Yelp reviews. I decided to stop in for lunch. Ordered a double burger, fries and a RC cola. Burger was great. Surprised me to see RC on the menu. It was a nice change Although it was surprising to see that a slice of tomato is 50 cents.

Greg's is old school. What McDonalds started as. It's reliable good food. My wife loves this place. It's pricey. It's cash only. It's still worth it. Solid menu, good food, great shakes. It's a throwback to the birth of fast food. Go here instead of any fast food chain, you won't be disappointed.

Double cheeseburger with ketchup, mustard, pickle & onion.

Great fresh hot 1/4 lbs burgers. Very clean too. Small business that is working towards removing styrofoam. Easy to find too.

Food and the service were good but a little pricey. $12 for chicken sandwich fries and a drink.

Good food and nice place but very expensive. If you got a few extra bucks it's great for lunch.

Chill place. Parking available directly outside the restaurant but limited lots…read more From the outside looked a little dingy. But opens up to a much larger restaurant than expected. Seems to be a place for regulars. Looks a little dated but clean- the chairs looked like they were from the 1980s- regular diner type chairs. You can play keno here. They also have arcade games and overhead TVs. Variety of seating- long tables, some tables for 6 and bar seating. Basically you sit yourself. And the waitress comes around with the menu. She asked about drinks immediately like a second after passing you the menu. Then brings the drinks promptly. And you wait for some time- she doesn't come back around till you wave her over. We both ordered a blue moon beer for drinks. Nice and cold and refreshing. Hubs ordered a cowboy burger with onion rings. I ordered fish and chips. Food took awhile to come. But when it came it was piping hot. I didn't take a pic of hubby's burger. I only took a picture of my fish and chips. It looked more like fish nuggets and chips. It came with coleslaw and you can request for the type of fries ie wedge, waffle, shoestring. My fish nuggets were delicious hot and flakes. Waffle fries were hot. And the coleslaw was delicious. Hubby thought his food was not bad. Fresh and hot. After the food came, our server checked on us a couple of times. His second beer took forever to come. We were about to just pay the bill and take off when it came. Overall, a decent experience. Still couldn't figure out why it was called an Irish bar though. They do have a countdown clock to st Patrick's day.

I have been getting fruity pebble blizzards at the other dairy queen locations for a few weeks now,…read moreand I came to this unfortunate location to get one tonight because it happened to be closest. Ordered a mini fruity pebble blizzard at the drive thru and was met with the employee saying they only come in smalls so we assume they mean they are out of mini sized cups. We waited 25 minutes in the drive thru line only for them to hand us fruity pebble MILKSHAKES at the window. As to not hold up the poor people who had already been waiting behind us for an eternity, we went back inside with the receipt and what were NOT dairy queen blizzards to get our order fixed. When I was met with an employee at the front counter and expressed the error with our order, he said they just simply don't do that. He explained kindly how they just don't have a button for it on the computer. However I cannot fathom what lack of simple customer service prevents someone from figuring out a way to make something as simple as a cup of ice cream with some fruity pebbles in it. I understand that may take some going out of your way, but what would have taken you maximum 30 extra seconds of effort (if that!) is now earning you a one star review. You may think this is a stupid discrepancy between a blizzard and a milkshake, but in the blizzard the fruity pebbles are delicious and crunchy, the milkshake is a sorry soggy too-sweet condensation through a straw disaster. If it had been explained originally as well that a fruity pebble blizzard "does not exist" rather than just giving us the wrong item, that would have also been appreciated. So sue me if all I wanted at the end of my long day was a fruity pebbled blizzard, and all i was met with was lack-luster customer service and some soggy cereal.
