I just stopped here for the first time, I'm from Colorado, but stay near here and drive by a bunch of times and always wondered how good it was. So today I stopped by, ordered a double cheese burger, fried and a drink. Got to the park to have lunch. Opened the sack and the burger that was in the sack. it was huge and juicy and cheesy and just like the burgers from way back. The first bite was like heaven. I had high hopes for Greg's Restaurant. I love mom and pop type places, they usually have the best of everything (food, people and history) but I didn't find that at Greg's. We visited late in the afternoon so I wasn't surprised to not see many cars. It looks like it's been updated or just well maintained and when we walked inside we were pleasantly surprised. There are airplanes hanging all around and a great big retro sign welcomes you (well I'm sure it would be welcoming if it was turned out but for some reason it wasn't. After my meal there I'm guessing it was to cut costs.) The menu is simple bar food. My sister and I each got the bacon cheeseburger special, $5.99 for burger and fries. Drink was extra. Since there weren't many people we had our choice of seating, so we found a spot right by the really cute Husker kids tables (perfect for my one year old niece). While we waited for food, we talked about how hot and stuff it was and how dirty the carpeting looked. The decorations, however, well done. One of the women behind the counter (I assume one of the owners) brought our food on a plastic tray. She was very friendly. The presentation was clean and retro. She brings with your meal one side of ketchup. Anything else costs extra. Even a refill, $.25. Lettuce, $.40. Neither of us were impressed with our burgers. The buns were nice. Very pretty. The buns tasted like the freezer patties you can get at WalMart. The fries, nothing fancy. My sister also ordered milk for my niece. It was $1.50 for a small glass and it was frozen. Again, I'm guessing this is another cost saving measure but my niece refused to drink it. We don't typically give her frozen, chunky milk. All in all it was pretty expensive for what you get. The food wasn't outstanding. The service was great, but with the wealth of food options in the city, that's not enough. I also wish there was more of an explanation behind the story of Greg's. Who is Greg. What's with the planes? How long have you been around? Maybe that would have made me feel more connected. The entire time I just kept thinking I have no idea why I've heard such good things about this place. I won't be back. Also, this is cash/check only. read more

After driving past for a few years and reading the Yelp reviews. I decided to stop in for lunch. Ordered a double burger, fries and a RC cola. Burger was great. Surprised me to see RC on the menu. It was a nice change Although it was surprising to see that a slice of tomato is 50 cents. read more

The food is great, the service is nice, and now they except payment beyond just cash! They take Visa MasterCard Samsung Pay Apple Pay etc. The cash only factor was one reason I did not go here as often as I would've liked to. I've been coming here since, well almost the beginning. The service here is outstanding, they know your name after just a couple of times coming in. They make all of their food fresh and to order. Onion Rings are the best in Lincoln! I love their Chicken Strips and their Cheesesteak, but the burgers are also excellent! Hot fresh fries every time, and a huge portion! Greg's is old school. What McDonalds started as. It's reliable good food. My wife loves this place. It's pricey. It's cash only. It's still worth it. Solid menu, good food, great shakes. Been wanting to try for quite some time. Very friendly staff, a little pricey $20.74 for a medium drink (kinda small actually) a double cheese burger, fries, and I had to try the jalapeño stuffers! Fries were good. The burger was good but I thought it was supposed to have lettuce? Otherwise it was a great size. I was disappointed in the jalapeño stuffers they seemed frozen or old. Greg's has great service, and good food. Burgers, fries, shakes, cupcakes. All good. It's a bit more expensive than the comparable big chain fast food restaurants, but the service and personal touch is well worth it. My wife and I will most likely go here from now on if we're feeling some American fast food. read more

Love little non-chain burger joints, so we gave this one a try. Interior is clean and nice, service was very friendly. There are some home-baked and home-canned goods on the counter that honestly looked very delicious and we might come back to try them. The burgers were fine, the onion rings were fine. The a la cart approach to condiments and the charging for a pop refill are a little off-putting, however and we won't return for the basic food menu. I wouldn't caution anyone away- it's cute, clean, friendly, and okay food-under just wouldn't come to mind for a personal recommendation. read more

My parents and I go to Greg's every Sunday for a cheeseburger. Their burgers are always juicy, and the fries are fantastic. None of it is greasy -- Greg's uses heart-healthy oils. I'd recommend eating in, since the food loses something during a car ride home. The family that owns the restaurant is very nice and has become friends of sorts, and we can walk in and order "the usual." It's that kind of place! read more

A Lincoln classic that many people aren't aware of. Great fresh burgers and one of the few places in town that have onion ring dip which is a necessity of life. The prices are a little high for burgers and fries but it's a mom and pop place and their food is high quality and fresh so it's worth supporting a local place and not a chain. They have a cute little picnic table inside for the kiddos to eat at. The wait can be a little long because they are making it from scratch not frozen. read more

The cupcakes are great too. the Service is Awesome And Gregs Is A Great Place to Eat. This nice little neighborhood Drive Inn was recommended to us recently and we were in the mood for a good burger so we decided to give it a try for lunch today. The restaurant itself is very clean and It is decorated with an Aircraft and USAF theme throughout which is a nice touch for us Vets...and kids....it had a "Happy Days" feel without the jukebox. The service was excellent and very friendly. The menu is what I would call an "Old Fashioned Burger/Malt shop Joint" menu and so I ordered a throwback lunch, cheeseburger with the works, fries and a chocolate malt. Overall I think the value was fair as was the food. I would place the burgers quality beneath that of the "Famous" local restaurant but the bun and condiments equal to our better than. The burger was cooked to medium well, I failed to ask for rare or medium rare which I regret. The fries were reminiscent of the skinny thin cardboard type introduced long ago by 50's & 60's upstart fast food chains, not a fan then and still not today. The Malt was good but not Malt Shop good. We shared a side of onion rings that were also middle of the road, not homemade but not low quality. The restaurant was not overly busy, 5 total groups in all. Plenty of parking and a very easy drive-thru when if used I'm sure there is quite a wait. I don't regret trying Greg's but it's probably best to let the local neighborhood enjoy its hangout. They are lucky to have one. I did when I was a kid and if I had one this good it would be a memory I would have never forgotten. read more

The portions are big and the staff are very friendly however, the first time I tried a Pork Tenderloin sandwich and it did not have any taste to it. The second time I tried the Philly Cheese steak and onion rings. Again, there was no taste to it and the onions in the onion rings were mushy. I would try again if they added some seasoning to their selections. read more
