Tradesmen is very old school, but it works. Whether it's for a home project or something at work, Tradesman has what you need. My only gripe is that they don't have a website. It doesn't need to be something with a list of everything they stock, but just a few pages with a general list of the types of items they have would suffice. I wouldn't have known about them at all if it wasn't for word of mouth from some of the senior members of the team I work with.

Being new to the area ,I went to the nearest place I could think of . The owner , Richard Duke , sold me a water heater that was on the sales floor . The price was great , but most of all that water heater lasted me over 18 years . The hardware is now run by Sons Kevin and Brent ,and maybe other family members that I don't know well . There are some projects that are larger, which require professionals. But dammit, some things I should be able to do myself, even if I lack the knowledge or the tools. But going to the big box home stores fills me with a sense of dread. They are overwhelmingly large, it's hard to find anyone who can help you, and the whole experience leaves me drained, dizzy, and nauseated. So I had what I considered a fairly clever idea. Why don't I just call the small, local, neighborhood hardware store, and see if they can help me solve my minor home repair and maintenance challenges? I'll confess that I called another store first before reaching out to Jack's. But it was at Jack's where I found the help, patience, and expertise that I so desperately needed! Project number one was removing the gunk from between brick pavers on my patio, filling them with silicone sand, and other spring yard maintenance. I had no tools beyond the phone in my hand. But Dan, on the other end of the line, walked me through the tools and equipment I would need. He told me the prices, took my order and payment over the phone, and had everything ready for a semi-contactless pick up! That went so well, I returned for project number two, replacing the window well covers that had cracked. Now I am the proud owner of my very first ratchet set! At least, I think that's what it was called. I thought I was going to need some power tool to do the job, and was prepared to drop a lot of money, but I walked out with a bill of about $30... and a Twinkie. Don't judge. It was for my daughter. Needless to say, I have no intention of ever setting foot again in one of those big box home stores. I have Jack's, and it's fantastic!

But this is no ordinary hardware store. This is also the Michigan hobby shop and hardware store Mecca!! We found the coolest remote control micro drones, remote control cars, planes, trucks, helicopters, trains, and everything else you can imagine. There was a complete aisle of Boy Scout supplies and another for the Girl Scouts. We bought several things for homeschool in those aisles. The train aisle not only has trains and tracks but everything you need for building layouts, gardens and miniatures. They had slot cars GaLORE!! If your are an enthusiast or a collected you really need to check out all the cool slot cars. I was drooling over quite a few. Be sure to look up when you get to the hobby area. I SHOULD HAVE STOPPED SOONER! This place has about everything you might want for your garage and lawn. A huge selection of Bosch, Stihl, Dewalt, Milwaukee and other tools. Thousands of bits and blades. But back to my issue... they had some trouble finding my carb since the trimmer was almost 20 years old. But the super helpful guys called to their Brighton store and were able to track down the part number history from a manual there. And I was in luck... they even had the carb in stock! While there I picked up a handful of other items I've been needing. I think I could have spent a few hours in there checking everything out. If you are a woodworker, landscaper (your own yard or professional), contractor, mason, etc then you definitely need to check out this place!
