I had deep anxiety about the dentist and my teeth. Emphasis on had, thanks to the team at Woodbridge Dentistry. I trust Dr. Nguyen, whose treatment has been the discerning and gentle I've received. In the 2 years I've seen her, I've appreciated her guidance about brushing tips, tools, and dental specialists. Follow her advice, and your teeth will thank you for it for years to come. I'm always glad to see Danielle, the receptionist, whose professionalism and grace are a balm in what used to be a stressful environment for me. She's prompt with scheduling communications and empathetic with payment procedures. In my experience, she and Dr. Nguyen have advocated for my health needs and been mindful of what's covered by insurance and what I actively need even if it isn't. I usually have great experiences with my previous dentists but my visit with Dr. Ann Nguyen was the first time I had an absolutely awful experience. She made me feel so terrible for the health of my teeth even though they are not in bad shape at all. Dr. Ann felt the need to constantly criticize my teeth and scold me. The whole time, I just wanted her to stop talking! She was so mean, judgmental and has zero compassion for her patients whatsoever. She was unnecessarily rough with the assessment and the basic cleaning. She left my mouth sore for 3-4 days after leaving her office. Afterwards, she recommended deep cleaning which comprised of two sessions for $400 each, which totals to $800. When the front desk asked if I wanted to schedule the appointment, I was like heck no. I cannot imagine doing a deep cleaning with Dr. Ann after how painful her basic cleaning was. Three months later, I went to a different dentist to get the deep cleaning and I only needed one session for $340 compared to the scammy $800 amount Dr. Ann was charging. My deep cleaning with my new dentist was also less painful than the regular basic cleaning with Dr. Ann. I would run from Dr. Ann at all cost. It's a shame her staff was nice but Dr. Ann was a total nightmare. You will be left in pain, get constantly scolded about your teeth's health and scammed of your money. read more

My review isn't for the experience with dental work but overall the customer service! Dr. Nguyen and the front desk coordinator Danielle are wonderful. I made an appointment with my employer's new insurance and came for a cleaning. While I was getting ready for my cleaning Danielle came and told me my insurance was for a PPO which wasn't covered with this dentistry. I'm so glad she informed me! They advised I didn't have to worry about paying for the visit which was a relief as it would have been out of pocket and imagine costly. I didn't continue with the dental work but so happy with the service and kindness they showed with the insurance oppsie was handled so kindly. Dr Nyguen was so rude and uncaring when I went to her office a few days ago for an evaluation of a root canal that was performed at her office a couple of years ago. I explained that I had been experiencing pain, sensitivity and inflammation at and around the site of the root canal. I also explained to her that I cannot chew on the left side of my mouth due to the pain and sensitivity. I was concerned about a possible infection as the pain and sensitivity was getting worse with each day. She was extremely dismissive, judgmental and out right rude. During the less than 1 minute exam of my tooth, she acknowledged the inflammation of the gum line around the root canal yet didn't seem to believe me when I expressed how painful it was when she was measuring the gum recession at the root canal location. She then suggested I come back for a deep cleaning which requires 2 appointments. I would have done that but what about this current situation with the inflammation sensitivity and pain? I thought perhaps an antibiotic may help to calm things down prior to a deep cleaning. She was so rude and unprofessional. I've never, ever experienced such unprofessional behavior from a dental or medical provider. It's no wonder that several of my acquaintances that also used to see her for their dental care, had discontinued seeing her due to the reasons mentioned above and also for dental care that they were not satisfied with. I have never made a yelp review post but strongly feel the need to do so now due to my terrible and disrespectful experience by her. Today, the pain and extreme sensitivity from the root canal has now moved up the left side of my face, my ear and around my left eye. If I could have given "0," I would have. Why doesn't Yelp have that option? I'm not sure where to begin. I went to the dentist with my minor son. His main problem was the pain in his back teeth. I wanted to accompany him inside, but the hygienist came out to tell me that they would only take my son, that I should wait in the lobby until the x-rays were completed, and that they would notify me when the doctor was ready to see him. I did agree. After about 30 minutes, I asked the receptionist when the doctor would come and she said that the doctor was already in the room. They didn't bother to call me, it seems. When  I asked the person at the front desk why I wasn't notified and she said, I could go to room if I wanted to. I walked in while the doctor was examining my son. She didn't even look at me or say hello. Instead, she pretended I wasn't there and said, "He has 11 cavities." I asked to see which teeth they were since I couldn't see anything of any cavity in his mouth, and she said I could look at the x-rays. Then the hygienist began to show me on the x-ray where the cavities were. Then my son said, "Mom, when they were cleaning my teeth, they broke it because she was too rough." I was still calm up until then, but that was the last straw for me. I asked the hygienist, but she didn't agree. Instead, she said, "MY SON DOESN'T FLOSS THAT'S WHY THE TOOTH GOT BROKE." It's crazy that she didn't apologize or offer to fix it. When I insisted her to fix i, she said she could only do temporary one because she had other patients!! Then the dentist came in as we were arguing and said I walked into the room in the middle of HER exam like it was my FAULT! Excuse me, but why did your receptionist allow me to walk in, and why wasn't I told in the first place that cleaning was done and I could go in and wait for the doctor? She ignited another fire, and again nobody apologizes; the dentist defends his staff. I have never seen such a thing! Pot calling the kettle.  I was so angry, I left the office, and when we got home, my son couldn't eat or drink anything because, of course, his tooth was aching! I called my husband, and he took him back there to get the temporary glue! Now we have to find another dentist to get that fixed as well.  Such a nightmare; my hands are still shaking as I am writing this. TOTAL SCAM. Just got thoroughly scammed by this Dentisry. They informed us that our insurance didn't cover deep cleansing (and charged over 750$). We asked the Woodbridge Dentisry to get it approved first but they only replied saying they've "done this for years and it's never approved". Afterwards, we called our insurance to be told they (our insurance) 100% cover deep cleansing and that they (our insurance) would call the dentistry to inform them as such. Conveniently, the dentist "was at lunch" when they called. Not only that, but they charged us extra for a service in which they added without informing our it would cost extra even when we specifically requested to do just what was covered by insurance. AND on top of that, the owner asked if we wanted (then proceeded to keep pushing us) to get a Botox done! Saying it's only a little over $1200 and wanted to inject it into the jaw so it could "open wider", continuing to push in attempt to convince by saying "you'll feel great" and "you only have to do it every 3 months". The owner even went as far as saying their Botox is "more potent" cause they "don't cut it with water" in attempt to sell us on adding this service. First off, what Dentistry pushes for Botox's and second, do they even have a license for such things? Not to mention the receptionist was quite rude when we were questioning the charges and asking for an itemized ledger and receipts. Even the hygienist was questionable as not only was the cleansing unnecessarily painful but also the fact that the hygienist, while working on a fully wide open mouth, was coughing so much it made us exceedingly uncomfortable and questioning the practice in more ways then one. Funny enough, after charges were decided to be pressed, the Density all of a sudden now decided that whoops, "your insurance actually does cover it so we have refunded what they cover back to you". Well, too little, too late. Charges will still be pressed for the scam that this place is. They truly have some nerve, as even after all this, they still contacted requesting us to schedule our next appointment with them. Yeah, no. We have changed Dentistry's and WILL NOT be going back to Woodbridge Dentistry EVER. This is written to warn & protect others from ever going through/experiencing what we did. Their professionalism and expertise is above and beyond what I've experienced at previous dental practices. It's comforting to find a quality practice that truely cares about it's patients. After many years of average dentists, my oral health was on a steady decline eventhough I was following all the routine dental cleanings and home care of brushing and flossing; so I opted to get a second opinion instead of allowing myself to be convinced I was doing something wrong. I have been a longtime patient of Dr. Nguyen since I moved here from the Bay Area to be closer to family. They have always made me feel very comfortable and when I come in to get my teeth cleaned, I always feel that the hygienist does a very gentle, but thorough job. Recently, I needed to have a crown done and they now use a 3D scanner to take the impressions for my crown instead of that goo that you have to bite down on for five minutes. I'm always impressed by how the office is always updating to the newest technologies. They were even able to get my crown back before I left for my trip out of state so I could go on my trip and not have to worry about eating on one side of my mouth. Simply because of an appointment cancellation? And to sell that off to a collection agency to get whatever penny you can out of that $75? Most of the dentists I've worked with in the past can't take on new business. This is the first dental office I've ever seen try so hard to collect such a small amount of money on a service they did not have to provide. I seriously would not recommend whatsoever, there are ton of other better practices in the Irvine Area if you just do some research. I found Dr. Nguyen on Yelp, and so thankful I did! My son has high anxiety with going to the dentist, and needed some cavities taken cared of. I actually was looking into sedation for him, thats how bad his anxiety is. So we went to Dr. Nguyen for a consultation, and loved her instantly. We scheduled his appointments right away. I asked her about what type of sedation he should get, and she said that he didn't need sedation. And he didn't ! She numbed him up, and said he didn't even feel it when she numbed him! Dr. Anne is amazing. Always honest with me and gives me great feedback and customer service and I can always tell she looks out for my best interest . Her assistants are also very professional and treat me with respect. But when it's comes to her one receptionist with short black hair. She always has this attitude to her. There was a mix up with an appointment and sometimes that happens and I honestly wasn't upset about it. I was anxious because I have job that I was late for. I called ahead of time and never did she say that maybe we needed to reschedule. Instead I continued on my way there and not until 5 minutes after I was there did she start blaming me and started telling me that because of me this appointment was gonna mess the Dr.'s day and kept going on about it and so asked her if we could reschedule and she said no because I've missed several appointments, which was completely false because I've only missed one. Finally after 30 minutes was I taken back and then another 15 minutes later was I actually seen and told that we're gonna have to reschedule. Even then I was still calm, yes I was frustrated but me having experience being a receptionist I know that this happens. So I go up to the front again to the receptionist so she can make my appointment for next time and she asks me if the dentist did the cleaning and I said no because I'm 45 minutes late for my job in Long Beach. But can we make an appointment for another time? And she looks at me with this smirk on her face for like 5 seconds and I'm wondering why she's doing this instead of making the appointment. And she starts arguing me with me telling me that it was my fault for the mix up and saying that I WAS THE ONE GIVING HER ATTITUDE, when the whole time, I was trying my best to be patient with her because I have been in her position. I asked her 3 TIMES, "can you please stop arguing with so we can make an appointment for next?" And she continued to argue and made it very clear that she was older than me. The embarrassing part is that she's older than I am but yet it was obvious who had more experience and maturity. I asked her one last time if she could stop arguing with me so we can make an appointment for next time if not then maybe she could call me back. She continued arguing until finally she said "I'll call you back". Never have I ever been pushed to the point where I needed to write a review like this. I always come to the office with a smile on my face, walking in saying good morning. But wow. I just couldn't not write this today. -in reply to you Dr.Anne. I never used profanity. Yes I did call 15 minutes advance letting her know that I was going to be late, never the less. If it would've inconvenienced your day because I know that you have other clients, I offered to reschedule over the phone and in reply was told "I'll let the doctor know" even though I was almost there I still would've been ok with it. Again, the mix up wasn't what upset me because I know that these things in a business happen. It was the attitude, unprofessional approach from your receptionist. That was the problem. Never would I ever use profanity in a situation like this. So that's false. And I've only missed one appointment. That much is clear. And yes you did suggest an earlier appointment and I said that I would have to wake up 2 hours prior and considering that I work a 10 hour shift 6 days a week, that wasn't gonna work so I said 9am. Thank you for reading and replying to my message, but this receptionist needs to learn to have a better welcoming attitude, needs to learn how to handle situations like these and the "reply in shock to my words" that I as an excuse from your receptionist. Because then a result like this would be the outcome. My husband and I are not people who like to complain, but both ended up leaving Dr. Nguyen's office with sore teeth and gums, and were sore for 3-4 days after. Similar to a couple reviews on here, we also received quotes to have more work done on our teeth that seemed a little unnecessary and pricey. We want to respect her opinion, so we will find another dentist to ask for their second opinion, but after a visit with painful x-rays taken, pain afterwards, and a pricey quote for additional work that had never been recommended to us by other dentists, we won't be returning. Mediocre or hit and miss dentist who recommends doing unnecessary work . My whole family was inherited by her when she acquired the practice from our old dentist. She has, on several occasions, recommended work that was not necessary (I always do 2nd or 3rd opinion, just to protect myself and my teeth from dishonest dentists.) When she did do work on me, it was ok. She did want to do an xray on me while I was 6 months pregnant! After I freaked about it, she said "oh, I forgot... sorry" (!???!!!) Crown done by her on my husband was not pretty visually, with metal margin showing by the gum line. Furthermore, she did a particularly bad job with religning my mother's denture. which was the last straw and my whole family switched dentists after that. Particularly, she charged $175 for soft relign that all leaked out during impression, and she refused to clean it off the denture, acted annoyed. I shouldn't give her a star at all! This dentist is a ripoff, she try to charge me 250.00 and bill my insurance 350 just to fix a cavity. I call my insurance and they say she's crazy charging to much they had to drop her from the network to many complaints about her!
