I had to get an implant and after much search, getting various dentist opinions, and reading reviewed on Yelp, and Google found Dr. Ghayoumi. I am glad that I did. I was very impressed with her level of experience. As a patient you feel like she does implants in her sleep. She is efficient, quick, detailed, does high quality work, she is on time, and professional. It took a few months to do the implant, let the bone heal and finalize it with a crown. However total time in the office perhaps was 1.5 hours max. Due to my jaw and placement of this particular tooth, the implant did not have much room and was very close to my sinuses. Dr Ghayoumi perfectly placed in the unit missing my sinus. A mission impossible if you will :) I am very happy with the outcome. It feels like my original tooth. I needed major work to get ready for implants. Bone graft was the easy part. Dr. Ghayoumi mentioned my sinus membrane has tiny holes that could compromise the success of my sinus lift; particles of bone could get through those holes tearing my membrane and get into my sinus which would require sinus flush and I would have to start all over after a few months. I was extremely concerned as I typically don't heal well. Although I've been taking supplements that promote healing I was still worried as it was a major procedure. It has been a month and it seems that I'm having a healthy healing. Dr. Ghayoumi's work is a little pricey but she is a great expert in the field of periodontology, a nice and caring doctor so it's all worth it. Reyna at the front office is very nice and on the top of her work; she always remembers what I ask of her. She has performed thousands of implant surgeries. I am very particular about anyone that operates on my body and refused to consider implants before consulting Dr. Ghayoumi. She has published several publications in referreed publications, was at one time a clinical assistant professor at USC and maintains her skills. Although implants have become an established procedure she is someone that can really be trusted and I recommend her most highly. Several years ago my longtime dentist and current hygienists recommended that I began looking for a good periodontist as I have loose teeth, receding gums and a good deal of bone loss. Its tough getting old. Anyway, since that time I have tried 4 different periodontists in South Orange County. For one reason or other I have not been able to commit to going to either of them. One had a slightly rude receptionist, another wanted to immediately pull teeth and install implants, the other seemed competent but had an uncomfortable chair-side manner, and the other did not impress me as being gentle and confident at what she does. I had gum surgery with Dr. Ghayoumi and thought she was great because 1. She gave me her cell phone number so I could contact her with questions and concerns after my surgery. 2. I did not need to be sedated for the procedure (as recommended by another Dr.). 3. She did not abuse antibiotics by prescribing them as a preventive (as planned with another Dr.). Antibiotic resistance is a big problem and I like to support health care providers that don't contribute to that problem. 4. She saw me every week for three weeks to remove stitches and check on my condition. 5. My surgery seems to have worked to repair my receding gums. Thanks Dr. Ghayoumi! I hate going to any sort of dentist.... who doesn't? I get anxiety just thinking about making an appointment. Dr.Ghayoumi changed all of that for me. There are so many incredible things to say about her, her work, her office and her staff. I must start with the dreaded Novocain shot. It is my worst nightmare. The main reason I dislike going to a dentist or anyone in a related field. Dr. Ghayoumi has completely changed me. She is so delicate and so skilled! I had to have shots in the front upper back and front... the absolute most uncomfortable spot you could have shots. Honestly, honestly.... didn't feel it. She say how worked up I was and reassured me it was nothing to her - "I'm good at this" she said so casually and confidently. She was wrong, she was way better than good! I went to Dr. Ghayoumi to have an implant. She talked me through the whole procedure. She was on top of everything. Even had me come back a few times extra just to take a look and make sure all was going well.
