Dr. Scott Rice Is the BEST Irvine dentist. I recently had crowns done, and the experience was professional, comfortable, and pain-free. He and his team were friendly and made me feel at ease. I highly recommend him for outstanding dental care. read more

I've been going to Dr. Rice for a few years now and I don't regret my decision to switch over to them for my regular dental cleanings. I've had great experiences with two different hygienists and you can tell they're very knowledgable, love their job and have years of experience. The quality of care is unmatched, probably the best dentist I've been to in my 37 years of life and that's no lie. I'm pretty picky when it comes to health and dental too lol read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Rice for many years. While I don't need to visit frequently, I've noticed a disappointing shift in the quality of care and overall approach at this practice. What was once a professional and patient-focused experience now feels increasingly driven by profit rather than genuine care. Each time I inquire about a service or come in for a routine check-up, I'm met with a level of pushiness that feels unnecessary. For instance, x-rays are now required at nearly every visit, even when there's no clear medical justification or when a patient specifically requests to decline them. This disregard for patient preference is concerning and feels inconsistent with patient-centered care. Additionally, appointments are tightly time-blocked, and if the scheduled time runs out before the service is completed, patients are asked to return for additional visits -- often resulting in higher costs. Speaking of costs, fees have also increased significantly, which adds to the sense that the practice prioritizes revenue over relationships. I used to have great respect for this office, but unfortunately, the experience has become transactional rather than compassionate. I hope they reconsider their approach and return to the level of professionalism and care that once set them apart. read more

I do my Invisalign here at Dr.Rice's office. There always very kind to patients also when I'm there I see that they have a good and healthy work environment. Everything is very clean and well maintained. My journey here with my Invisalign is going really good, I'm half way done I can't wait to get my veneers done. Even though I'm not completely done I feel more confident in my smile and can't wait to see the finished results. read more

I have been going to Dr. Scott Rice for over 20 years. Very skilled and honest dentist. Professional office and great staff.

I'm so happy I've found my forever dental practice! About two years ago, after hopping from one mediocre dental practice to another, I overheard one of my coworkers saying how happy they were with their dentist (you never really hear people talking so positively about their dentists like this). When I asked her who she goes to, she said Rice Dentistry and that a couple of other coworkers also get their dental cleaning at Rice Dentistry, too. I'm so glad I decided to give the Rice Dentistry office a try...they are best-in-class from every point of touch. Shoutout to Adriana, who is an amazing dental hygienist - so friendly and thorough. And to Thu, who assists Dr. Scott Rice during my Invisalign visits - personable and fun to talk to. My partner laughs at me for looking forward to my dental visits ;) I have such an amazing experience with my twice-yearly dental cleanings, that I decided to get Invisalign here, too. I'm in my last month of Invisalign and it's been a great and easy experience. I can't say enough how the people at this office make it what it is....I comment every time I visit how everyone is so friendly and professional. Dr. Scott Rice, Adriana, and Thu - Thank you so much. read more

Excellent dental care. Great support from the office, very patient to answer questions and help figure out the best dental plan. My husband unfortunately has quite a few dental issues and Dr. Rice has taken exceptional care of him. You're in great hands here. read more

Dr. Rice and his team got my teeth dialed in before getting engaged to my long term girlfriend. I had severe staining from chewing tobacco and bonding that needed to be redone. A past bad experience getting bonding done kept me away from the dentist for years. Dr. Rice and his team made me feel confident, comfortable, and offered a plan to move forward. The sedation dentistry was the perfect option for the major work needed and it was key in getting the final "yes" for my engagement. Thank you Rice Dentistry:) read more

Let's start by saying may god bless the Rice Dentistry Team! My wife had the pleasure to be treated by Dr. Rice and after it changed my complete perspective on how I see dentists and their practice. In my family when someone is well loved, or amazing or profound we say "I would drive to China" for them. I broke my tooth recently and was scared as I did not know how it was going to get fixed. We scheduled an appointment and had it fixed in under an hour with a painless procedure. The dentist gave us advice on further treatments and how to care for the tooth. We also came back and got the tooth polished again for free. Best dentist practice out there. Very much recommend! Also amazing pricing. read more

Moved to the area for work recently and was on the search for a new dentist. Called the office number, and was greeted with the receptionist Mary, who was incredibly difficult to have a conversation with because I felt like I was being patronized for no real reason. This place has great reviews so I'm sure it's a lovely establishment if you can get past the front desk. read more

I've been a patient at Rice Dentistry for a little over a year now- the experience has been great. I have a lot of dental anxiety, and they help me work through this and get the care that I need. Dr. Rice is thorough and respectful, and I takes his time to explain procedures, which I appreciate. I also don't feel pressured when I am there, we talk about the pros/cons, etc. I don't feel like I'm pushed to get Invisalign like other places that I've visited, even if it's being recommended. Adrianna was my hygienist this last time and she was AMAZING. She did great work on my teeth, made great recommendations, and was so incredibly wonderful to talk with, which helped to calm my nerves being in the dentist chair. Thank you so much, Rice Dentistry! read more

The BEST experience I've had with a dentist!! They are up early and on time!!! Mr Rice is very kind, upfront and honest!!! He tell you exactly what care you need and the plan of attack. Not once did he push any $$$ amount and let me make all the decisions how I wanted him to proceed. The Staff Stephanie, Mary and the Wonderful Lady that assisted Mr Rice....(forgot her name)....Are so AMAZINGLY kind, patience, understanding and just the BEST service I've come across in Irvine. Thank you Mr. Rice and Team .....Wish I had found yall SOONER. read more

This review is long overdue. Very thankful I found this practice! When I relocated to this area many years ago, I had a horrible experience elsewhere. That dentist botched 2 procedures on me and I needed to find a dentist that actually knows what they're doing. Since I worked in dental product manufacturing at the time, I asked our business team for the name of a good dentist. I was referred to Dr. Scott Rice. Even though he's not covered in-network for my insurance, I made an appointment anyway and, well, I've been a patient here for the last 15 years! Every procedure I've had here has been done right the first time. I find all levels of staff to be professional, appointments always run on time (that's rare!), and the whole operation runs like a well oiled machine. Dr. Rice is good at what he does and gives an honest perspective of my treatment plan - explaining what needs to be done, what should be done now and what should be done but doesn't need to be done yet, and what to expect if something isn't done. I never feel pressured here and Dr. Rice has always been knowledgeable, thorough, and remains present during my exams without rushing me. Just an all around nice person! The Hygienists are all top notch here too. I've never had a bad experience. You really can't go wrong! read more

1/30/14: I will say, I never thought I would give a dentist a 5 star rating, in my life. I am so petrified of dentists offices, I will come up with ANY excuse not to go. And I mean, ANY! I generally end up in a dentists office because I have been forced by horrible pain somewhere in my mouth. I was referred to Dr Rice and was told I would love his office and the way they do business... and I did. I have extensive work that needs to be done. I probably have an issue with almost every tooth in my mouth. The most important right is a root canal I had done a year and a half ago. I never had a temporary put on and of course never got the crown. I am very thankful that post has lasted this long. Dr Rice is the 4th dentist I have seen in the last two years. The first wanted to remove all of my teeth. NEXT. The second was great but ended up referring me out for almost everything I needed done at the time and then was forced to medically retire. The third, who took his place, never got back to me with a treatment plan, despite many phone calls I had to make to him. My first visit with Dr Rice was very smooth, I was actually very comfortable. I was taken into an office first, to discuss my concerns and what I was there for. After, everything was explained to Dr Rice, and then I had Xrays done. Dr Rice came in and discussed each tooth with me, and what needed to be done. Without even having to ask, I was given a treatment plan that same day. With pricing. Thats exactly what I wanted from the last dentist and could not get. They broke my work down into 5 Phases. It is a LOT of work, and a LOT of money, but it has to be done. I have scheduled the first two phases already and will do the third and fourth after that. Phase 5 I will wait until 2015 most likely. I am so thankful they gave me everything I wanted, right there in the office, so I didnt have to wait, and had no question of what everything will cost. I am looking forward to getting my mouth fixed and maintained in the very near future, and definitely recommend this office for anyone who is fearful of dentists. They will take care of you :) 2/4/14: I had my first cleaning this morning and it was GREAT! I went in feeling comfortable, and relaxed, which again - has never happened for me at a dentists office. They offer you spa gloves for your hands, and they clean your rings that you remove while enjoying the gloves. It was so nice! I have REALLY sensitive teeth so the hygienist applied a gel to numb my gums so it was less painful. No shots, no lasting effects, just temporary numbness to help the cleaning. I am so impressed with this entire dentists office. My next appointment is in a couple of weeks and my next four appointments will be big ones, with a LOT of work done each time, and I dont even have any anxiety about it! read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr Rice and his son Dr. Rice. I have had perosnal work dome and loved the professionalism so much, I brought my mom in for her 3rd set of dentures in 3 years. Yes, that's one set a year. She didn't want to go at first as her past attempts to get a comfortable set of dentures has been a complete fail. Well, it's been about 5 months since she has her new smile and she couldn't be happier! The teeth, to this day, give her little to no discomfort. I highly recommend this dentist and his staff. Everyone is friendly and professional. They have a full on snack bar while you wait. Oh, that's another thing, with all our appointments, we have never had to wait for more than 5 mins to get into the doc's chair. They keep a tight schedule and don't waste your time! Thank you again for everything! There is no better feeling than seeing your mom smile! read more

As someone who used to hate going to the dentist I can honestly now say I have no reservations coming here. After seeing so many 5 star reviews I decided to give this place a chance after my dentist retired. The 5 stars are absolutely warranted. This place runs like a well oiled machine. I wound up getting invisalign through here after seeing a friend's success and my teeth are finally straight after only 8 months. Wish I would have done it sooner. I will also say their Covid practices are top notch. Air filtration units in ever room, masks required for everyone, temp check and Purell at the door. I definitely feel safe coming here. read more

Dr. Taylor Rice is the Best periodontist! This review is for COSMETIC: gingivectomy (to make GUM line higher) & dental BONDING (to make a tooth longer by adding bonding) Dr.Taylor Rice is knowledgeable, kind & does an excellent job on dental work. Most doctors only see patients for a few minutes & leave. Not Dr. Taylor Rice, he will spend enough time with you to make sure all of your questions are answered and that you understand everything & makes you feel comfortable enough to ask questions. I was very worried about finding a doctor that will do a great job as these are my front teeth & I didn't want discoloration from the bonding or any scaring from the gum work so I researched for a long time to find the best doctor for cosmetic work. I have no issues with my dental work and I love the results! I am someone who is very picky & would rather spend more to get a great result. Not only will you get great looking teeth but surprisingly Dr Rice offers very AFFORDABLE PRICES! I went to 3 other periodontists that wanted to charge me over $500 of what I was charged at Dr. Rices dental office and those other doctors only saw me for just a few minutes. In addition, not every periodontist performs gum and bonding work so that was another reason I wanted to have Dr. Rice as I didn't want 2 different doctors and 2 different appointments for the cosmetic work I wanted done. Also, everyone in his office is very professional, they communicate with their staff to make sure you have the best experience. If you are hesitant on getting cosmetic dental work done please do yourself a favor & book yourself a consultation with Dr. Rice. My consultation was free as I mentioned it was noted in Yelp and they honored that. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Rice, his office and staff members. I always refer his business when I hear there is someone who wants to have cosmetic dental work done. I wish I lived closer to Irvine otherwise I would also have him be my dentist. read more

I came to this office after reading the great reviews to get a second opinion on whether to do grafting for receding gums/bone loss. I was bummed not to get Dr. Rice but I hoped his colleague would be just as good as I heard Dr. Rice was. This office is so nice and the staff is super friendly! One office said I need to graft four of my teeth and the second opinion said I needed six. I was unsure what to do, so I got a third opinion from a board certified periodontist who said I shouldn't do it at all (hygienist in my dentist office had also said this) and that he couldn't recommend the work with a clear conscience since he didn't believe it would get worse if I kept my teeth as clean as they are. Please do your research before any procedures that might be unnecessary. I almost spent about $5k out of pocket (they didn't think it would be covered by my insurance even though the other office said $3k would) for something that wasn't necessary. Dr. Caplanis in Mission Viejo will have all of my business moving forward. read more

Update... It's been almost 3 years since I had my first visit. Since then, I had the 6 Month Smiles treatment. I went through just over 6 months of having braces. Yes, I said braces. I was in my 30's when I got them on for a second time. (The old story of, "I had them when I was a kid and didn't wear my retainers"). The process was easy and mostly painless. I then whitened my teeth, had some gum reshaping, bonding on a few teeth and a bit of cosmetic filing. I just saw Dr. Taylor for my most recent cleaning, and he said my Xrays look great and he is happy with everything. I still highly recommended this denstist office! read more

Dr rice is an amazing trusting Dr. He takes care into hearing all of his patients needs

I first saw Dr. Taylor Rice for a consultation about tooth root exposure. I was interested in the BioClear method to address my concern that has caused black triangles. Dr. Rice explained the procedure in detail and the expected results. The BioClear method was performed on four lower front teeth that addressed all of my concerns with excellent results. All of the office staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. The assistants that help the doctor with the procedure are excellent and professional. Dr. Rice is a true professional in every respect. I highly recommend him for your dental needs. Five stars to everyone. read more

I've been going to Rice Dentistry since 2010. This review is long overdue. Dr. Rice is phenomenal: he does a superb job (dentistry is a bit of an art) and deeply cares for his patient (you can feel it). The office is high-tech and clean with a great atmosphere.
