Cannot say enough good things about Sand Canyon Dental! I'm extremely nervous around anything related to the dentist, but as soon as I stepped foot through the doors I was greeted with the most welcoming, positive, soothing energy that instantly started to soothe my fears. The entire staff is AMAZING! From the front desk to the hygienists to the doctors, I could tell everyone took my comfort just as seriously as they take patient care! Dr. Caviar was the absolute sweetest and took the time to walk me through all her thoughts on my treatment plan, then got me connected with Dr. Tamer who was able to get me in for a same day wisdom tooth extraction that I had been extremely anxious about! Dr. Caviar is an amazing dentist! I went to see her because I came from a doctor that I felt did not really care for my needs, but Dr. caviar really spends time to make sure that my teeth are healthy and addresses needs before they become a bigger problem. I'm relatively new this dental clinic. Just had my 2nd visit for routine/periodic cleaning. There are a few things that stood out to me during my visits to this clinic: - it is ALWAYS loud and noisy. The voices of the staff are loud, they chit chat and laugh loudly. My hygienist was trying to talk to me and I can't understand and hear what she's saying...that's how loud things can get in there. - during my visit for cleaning, my hygienist made me hold the suction during the entire procedure and had me do my own suctioning. Extremely odd - this is the first time that ever happened to me. - the cleaning that was done to me was all manual tool, they didn't use any electrical equipment. Another surprising approach. - the dentist did not bother to check the work of the hygienist or stopped by after my cleaning is done. All my past dentists always do a quick check after the hygienist is done with their work. - they're recommending I do multiple procedures (root canal and crown). And I felt like I'm being pressured to do so. None of my past dentists have asked me to do any of what they want me to do. I just had to change dentist bec my former dentist became out of network. In short, I'll be looking for a new dentist. read more

It's been 5 years since my review. In that time, the crown that this dentist did has failed and already needs to be replaced. The margins are open, and decay is setting in. As a former dental assistant, I can read and understand X-rays. I saw my most current X-rays from earlier this week and can agree with my current dentist that the crown has failed. Crowns should typically last 10/15/20 years. Not only that, in the 5 years that I saw this dentist last, not ONE of those cavities that she diagnosed has been see by any other dentist. I stand by my statement that this office is treatment aggressive. read more

I wish there were six stars! I recently parted ways with my previous dentist. I did a little research and I actually visited the office before making my first appointment. The office is beautiful with warm, comforting colors and a stylish waiting room with a coffee/beverage station. It was my first appointment here, so I had all of my X-rays done before my cleaning and it was as pleasant as oral X-rays can be. The doctor that examined my teeth was super professional and he explained to me everything he observed in more detail than I've ever heard before. He also said that my teeth and gums were in excellent condition (they should be, I have a Sonicare electric toothbrush and I floss everyday ) and even though I've been on a three times a year schedule for my routine cleanings, he didn't think I needed it. So, I'm back to twice a year. It's nice to have a dentist with the ethical and professional attitude for what you actually need verses what they can milk your insurance company for. I felt extremely comfortable with everything from the administrative staff to the professional doctors. I only have two hands, so two thumbs up!! read more

I was going to Sand Canyon Dental for over 4 years. That said last couple of times I was there I became dissatisfied with the entire operation. In December 2022 I had a cleaning exam and X-rays. The hygienist proceeded to soak me with her cleaning instrument. She thought it was a joke. I've never had such a ridiculous experience in any dental office before . I had to change appointment for my next cleaning due to travel . They give me August for my next appointment. My due date was April . At that point I find another office who were only too happy to see me in April. I called to Sand Canyon to cancel "August " and asked for my records. Told the front office woman I would not be returning to their office Upon going to the new office I find that Sand Canyon's recommended work was false . Even got a 3rd opinion . Only one 2 surface filling was needed not the expensive treatment plan. Worst part of this story is I've sent them a family member and good friend. I've workEd in the dental field over 20 years . They know me yet tried to take advantage of me. Insult to injury today they send a bill for no show for $75. Are you kidding me ! read more

My entire family (all 6 of us) and I have been going to Dr. Samonte for YEARS! We moved to Irvine in 1993 with the intent of establishing a long term relationship with local doctors and dentists. I had no intentions of driving more than 5 minutes for any appointments. I believe Dr. Samonte took over the practice shortly after we moved into this area. We have been under her dental care ever since. My visits to Sand Canyon Dental are always pleasant and enjoyable! In fact I look forward to it every time! I have friends who dread going to the dentist but I always tell them, to me going in for my regular cleaning is like getting pampered and I compare it to going in for a massage or a manicure/pedicure. The doctors, hygienists and staff are always friendly and professional. Dr. Samonte and I have a friendship that's developed over these years. She has taken care of my family for years and have watched my children grow so she feels like "family". She always remembers what's going on in our lives and that adds a personal touch to every visit. The office is beautiful, warm and always clean. One of the nice novelties, is they have disposable toothbrush and toothpaste in their restrooms to freshen up. I always appreciated this on those days when I would come straight from work and didn't have the time to freshen up before my visit. I've waited until I got a second opinion from a different dentist to post this review. I had my teeth cleaned in May of 2019 about one and a half years since my last cleaning since I had moved and hadn't got around to finding another dentist. The cleaning went fine, but Dr. Samonte examined my teeth and after one x-ray, concluded that I had eight cavities that needed to be filled ASAP and were going to cost about $800 even with insurance. I am adamant about brushing twice a day and flossing so this was a shock to me, also given that I had no dental pain at all. I haven't had a cavity in at least a decade and was always told by my lifelong dentist that I had "watchers," that weren't worth filling because I have great dental hygiene. Dr. Samonte? She made an ASSUMPTION of me and as an answer to my question of if filling eight cavities was necessary, "well no one flosses and everyone drinks soda and such, so, yes." 1. I floss EVERY single night. 2. I do not drink soda at all- only ever water. To top it off, when I was reluctant to make the first appointment to butcher the first side of my mouth, the receptionist had the nerve to push that I make an appointment to fill the cavities on one side of my mouth, otherwise I'd need root canals. I'd never take medical advice from a receptionist. This office came across as very money-hungry and not patient-oriented whatsoever. I've since seen a different, experienced dentist who used many different types of imaging to examine my teeth and only found two cavities in need of fillings and said he'd rather put sealants on my other teeth because they're simply deep grooves. Dr. Samonte doesn't know a cavity from a groove in a tooth. read more

I have been coming to Sand Canyon Dental for about 10 or 11 years now. Dr. Najaran, Dr. Samonte, and their fantastic staff have been amazing. The personal care and service has consistantly been of the highest degree. Now with the addition of Dr.Tamer, they have an even more amazing team with an expanded service offering. I would not recommend this dental office. My daughter needed to have some cavities filled and when we walked out of the office, she collapsed in tears. The doctor did not listen to her when she was saying that it was hurting. We were only 1/2 through the treatment process. The first time we went just for the cleaning and it was an okay experience but the moment that I stated that we would be back for the fillings, the dentist rudely stood up and dropped the tools and walked out of the office. We will not be back even for a simple cleaning. read more

THEY DON'T STAND BEHND THEIR WORK!!! TERRIBLE PLACE!! I had been going to Sand Canyon Dental for over a decade. Recently went to have an older front crown re-cemented after it came loose. Dr. Najaran quickly glued it but cemented it crooked! She denied that she did anything wrong, but insisted that it was glued onto the stem correctly. She and the assistant acknowledged it was visibly crooked but denied doing it wrong. 10 min after I left, she called and said she looked at my old x-rays and said It was never properly seated (by the same practice). I said 'right', YOU glued it back on in an un-anesthetically pleasing manner... it's CROOKED!! (and you should have checked my old x-rays BEFORE you cemented it back on!!). She finally called back a few weeks later and said she doesn't feel that I'll be happy there and that I need to find another dentist. Over a DECADE and she and the practice bailed on me!! I simply said all they had to do from the beginning was to acknowledge they cemented it crooked and solve it. But it was easier for them to bail on a loyal patient than fix THEIR error. I'd stay AWAY from them. Different practice than it was before. They do stuff too quickly and don't acknowledge when they make a mistake, let alone fix it! I thought a dental office was concerned about the appearance of their work, not just the mechanics of 'I did it the right way' even though they acknowledge the result is terrible. Came here because I was new to the area and was hoping to find my forever dentist. I can say this won't be the case. I, by my own admission, was about 10 minutes late to the appointment. The front office lady (I want to say her name was Stephanie?) made sure to reprimand me as I checked in. I was extremely apologetic and understood my appointment would be cut short because of my tardiness and had no qualms about that. She still made sure to mention it about 2-3 more times... In addition, they completely billed my insurance wrong. I got a letter about a month after my appointment stating I would not be covered for the services as I was not an active member (what?!). I had to call them, call the office, call insurance back, etc. to eventually find out they input the incorrect insurance info under my account. Slightly annoying to say the least. The front desk, once again, was less than friendly throughout the ordeal even though it was their mistake. Finally, I had a cavity filled and it took almost 7 months for the sensitivity to subside and for me to be able to use that side of my mouth again. I've had quite a few fillings in my lifetime and I've NEVER had this happen. There were just too many negative experiences at this office for my liking, so sadly I will not be back. read more

Best dentist I've ever had! Dr. Najaran is very gentle and detail-oriented. She makes sure everything is perfect and will encourage you to come back for any adjustments needed. She always explains what's going on, your options, pros and cons, etc. She always call to make sure you're doing fine after each procedure. All the staff are very professional yet personable. I've been a patient here for over a year. It's absolutely wonderful! Best parts: patient care, customer service, general cleanliness of patient rooms and office, and details. All the staff are helpful and tell you what they are doing for your visit and why. I also like how they tell you what it will cost for your next visit. The hygienist (all) make you feel so comfortable during your cleaning. They'll make sure you have music to listen to or the tv on and make you feel great. Dr. Nagaran is amazing. One conversation with her and you immediately trust her judgement and approach to dentistry. The office itself is super clean. The equipment seems pretty new and state of the art. Great feature: appointments...they'll text you the day before your appointment and you can reply with a "c" to confirm. If you fail to respond, you'll get a phone call...just in case. I've never had to wait more than 3min to start my service. For the first time, I don't hate going to the dentist. Highly Recommended! read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Najaran for many years. I've always been impressed with her work- she explains every step, what I should expect, and is meticulous with her work. She's very thorough and makes sure you're content with the work before she's done by again explaining everything and giving you the opportunity to ask questions. Every time I go to Sand Canyon Dental I feel like I'm visiting old friends (who I should see every 6 months, but I lag...oops) and everyone remembers details about me that I wouldn't think they'd remember. It's so nice! The reason I decided to write a review now is because Sand Canyon Dental has once again topped itself as being a superb dental practice and numero uno in my opinion. I'm a new mom and very nervous when it comes to going anywhere with my baby. I had to go in though because a crown broke. Dr. Najaran began working on the tooth right away and when my baby started getting fussy, her front office staff came in and helped! Who does that??? They soothed him, made him smile, kept him company, carried him, etc etc. So, I was able to get my tooth worked on in peace and without worrying about my little one! He was happy, I was happy, and the staff looked happy with him :) I know not every patient will be bringing in a child, but it just goes to show that Sand Canyon Dental provides a sense of family and support, while providing excellent dental work. PS. I'm not a patient of Dr. Somanti, but she's always super friendly, remembers me, and is always greeting people with a smile. This place is the best thing to happen to dentistry since Highlights magazine. The office is clean, up-to-date, and welcoming - from the smiling faces in photos lining the walls to the smiling faces of the staff. It's such a treat to visit an often daunting place and be greeted by people who love their jobs and are genuinely happy to see you. The decor is pleasant, the chairs are remarkably luxurious, and even the music is good. The only thing missing is a foot massage. It's almost a bummer when you're cavity free and can't come back for six months - so I just made an appointment to get my teeth whitened. P.S.
