It's hard to find a great dentist for the whole family especially when you move into a new community. Dr. Watanabe is awesome because he's adapt at treating adults as well as kids. I mean for my four year-old, he brought out full on hand puppets to ease her fear and help her feel good about getting a check up. In addition to his skill set (great at diagnosing and educating me on the issue at hand), I can tell he runs a great office. Scheduling is efficient, all the dental hygienists are well trained I and customer service is top notch. Dr Pierson took my 4am call and advised me on what medication to take and got me into their office first thing in the morning. I went to them for an emergency involving severe tooth pain. Dr Biagi was very thorough in her analysis and saw that my bite in the back was uneven which was causing one tooth to hit harder than the others. I originally found this office on Yelp and decided to try it out since I moved to Irvine a few years ago. It's now been at least 5 years since I've been coming here regularly. Even though I've gone to the dentist regularly every my whole life, it's still hard for me to not get anxious before every visit. Scott and his entire team in this office (and I mean literally every single employee here including front staff) has been nothing but warm, welcoming and sweet. They're so considerate of my sensitivities during every visit, making sure I'm okay through the entire process. Scott is so thorough during my regular check ups - checking my jaw and tongue too. I've been to many dental offices over the years, but Dr. Scott, Dr. Kanemaru, and their amazing team have completely changed the way I feel about going to the dentist. Dr. Scott is honestly a miracle worker when it comes to injections -- I didn't feel a thing! Unlike the many other times in previous dental offices where I dread the pressure pain and nasty taste of the numbing medication. He takes his time, explains what he's doing, and has such a gentle, reassuring way that any anxiety just melts away. Dr. Kanemaru's experience is obvious from the moment you meet him. Update, 8/21/23: After finally receiving the requested information from arbor (they took more than 3+ months after my first request, which puts my dental health at risk - as dental professionals, they knew this or should know this), they claimed I had numerous problems with my teeth in writing worth over $1k in work, but after getting a second opinion from other local dentists (who took more time to educate me and inform me about my dental health, options and dental work in general), it was clear to me and them that the work recommended by arbor dental was unnecessary. It was as I originally believed, these dentists are shysters and running a crown/filling mill. Stay far away. They only care about emptying your pockets as quickly as possible; they could care less about your dental health. read more

The reviews for this place are legit! I was suggested Arbor by a friend of mine and after checking out their Yelp reviews, I figured why not. The office is a little tricky to get to, because it's upstairs and on the back of the building. Once you find it, it's smooth sailing. My teeth cleaning appointment was for 12:30 on a Saturday, I showed up at 12:20 and was immediately seated and the process began. Paria, was the dental assistant? Anyway, she had the unfortunate duty of cleaning my teeth. It had been at least two years since I was last at the dentist, yikes. She was very gentle, thorough, and walked me through everything she was doing. To help get me through the cleaning, they had TV placed above my head where I watched The Office and almost totally forgot I was at the dentist... almost. There was zero to little discomfort during the cleaning and I was surprised when she was done. The dentist did come in and chat with me after the cleaning just Incase I had questions or concerns. I haven't been to another dentist since going here I went from about 2017- 2020 and it was a terrible experience. They don't do a lot of things in house for example you have to see a specialist for a root canal it's a 3 appointment process - go to them for referral - go somewhere else for procedure - return for crown. The doctor I started with left on maternity leave and that's when everything went down hill - every other hygienist seemed really inexperienced despite their age. I still have a crown that is throwing off my bite and am finally braving another dental office when I saw them on yelp with such a high rating.. Arbor Dental Group is tucked in the Arbor plaza off Jeffrey in Irvine. The location can be quite inconspicuous with the similar dental groups nearby. It was without the help of a UPS Employee that was also dropping off package where I was able to locate them. The staff here is friendly and accommodating to clients new and existing. I came for a toothache and they were able to service me the day off. The team was attentive and was able to alleviate my pain in a polite and educational manner. I can tell you the experience I had at Arbor Dental today by far surpasses any dental experience I have EVER had! The office was located on second level upstairs and was very clean. Staff was super friendly at checkin and checkout. My dental hygienist Ashley was so sweet and was comforting during my cleaning - nice to have her checking in with me with pressure etc. and made what could be an uncomfortable experience, comfortable. I saw Dr. Scott Watanabe afterwards to look at my charts and go over my deep cleanings and health of my gums/teeth. He was very kind and thoroughly explained where my teeth were at currently and the next steps in my journey. It was nice that you didn't feel like just another patient, but actually cared for - answering questions being listened to etc. Going to the dental office in general has always made me a little nervous, and I'm actually looking forward to going back. I have an illogical fear of dentists for some reason so the overall experience has to be A+ for me to return. I have had good and bad experiences here but lately more bad. Started off good, the dentists seem to be good and I liked the cleanings, but if I ever needed an invoice or had to call the office it could take multiple tries or being on hold for very long before I could get help. For a busy office I've never seen more than two people up front managing appointments, check-in, calls, checkout, billing, etc. I've seen so many different hygienists the last couple years and the last time I didn't even feel like I got a good cleaning. For my next appointment coming up, I got a call saying the appointment I had made 6 months ago needed to be moved to the following month and hopefully that's ok so I called to get more info. I was told the office was going to be closed and I got moved to the next available time. I had already been on hold for almost 5 minutes when I called and I explained I was frustrated for the long wait time and that I didn't want to wait another month for my appointment so just cancel it because I didn't want to come back and the response was "I understand, if you change your mind, please call us back." No apologies at all or any actual customer service. Renee is nice enough but she's so condescending with her comments. They obviously don't care about their patients if they decide to close for a week less than 2 months out knowing they were booked. I'm sure I can find a better place than Arbor. They're good if you need dental work I guess but for cleanings it's not worth the hassle and frustration of dealing with a busy office that's constantly churning through patients. read more

I am absolutely terrified of dentists. So much so, in fact; that I hadn't been to a dentist for about 9 years before coming to the Arbor Dental Group. Much to my dismay, I started to feel soreness and pain in a tooth that I had previously had a Root Canal done on ( incidentally, that was my last dentist visit, about 9 years ago ). This prompted my visit to find a highly rated, local dentist who was open Saturdays. To keep a long story short, Dr. Biagan, Dr. Johnson ( DDS who redid my root canal ) and all of the staff here at this office made me feel at ease. They took the time to carefully explain what they were going to do and stopped to check on me to see how I was doing. They really took my anxiety and fear of dentistry to heart. I had to have my root canal redone. I can tell you that it didn't hurt NEARLY as much as the first time. Dr. Johnson was efficient and thoughtful and his assistant took great care to make sure I was as comfortable as I could be considering the circumstances. I would be lying if I told it that a Root Canal is a fun or pleasant experience but I recall telling myself that it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. With each visit to the Arbor Dental Group I can feel my anxiety slowly melting away. I have a follow up visit with Dr. Biagan in December for a thorough exam and I'm actually looking forward to it as I have decades of dental questions I've never had the opportunity to ask. I will recommend Dr. Biagan, Dr. Johnson and the staff at Arbor Dental Group to all of my friends and family who are looking for a Dentist that is open Saturdays! read more

I had a very good exp at Arbor Dental- I had two crowns that needed to be replaced as well as a deep cleaning done. I am not a fan of dental visits. Maybe not quite a phobia- but something close. Terrible service. Staff gave false information. I called because molar crack and literally 30% tooth absent. Lots of pain. They initially told me to come in as emergency. When I arrive they say can not accommodate. Then they say they called to reschedule. They lied about the calls. I check for all calls and messages, there were non recorded. (and all - thanks to Renee! i am so glad that i've got to know you!) everyone here has been very nice and friendly, you really do feel welcome and comfortable coming here. it's like they can see the anxiety you have deep down inside and try to really connect with you.. i appreciate that! there's water and 'healthier' snacks for you on the go, a tv at every station so you can get your minds (and ears) off things when they work on you. i'd recommend this dentistry to everyone! although parking could be horrible though since this is a really popular plaza during lunch hour. be aware and get there early! read more

I have been seeing Dr. Scott and his wonderful staff for a few years now and I was so lucky to stumble upon his father- son practice. He is so attentive and remembers to check up on how I am doing. He remembers life events and asks me about them- and I feel the warmth of family when I'm there (very important to me as I have a big family). I had some financial strains when I was underemployed and Renee was wonderful and helped me work out a payment plan. Then when there were hiccups when I changed insurance, his staff worked with me and the HR rep to straighten things out. My family has been coming here since 1994. When we moved to OC, I asked a friend for a recommendation. (She has 4 kids, so I figured she wouldn't steer me wrong!) We have been happy and well-cared for patients since then. I first saw Dr Ron Watanabe, and now see his son, Dr Scott Watanabe. The staff has been terrific! I had bad dental experiences as a child in LA, but everyone at Arbor Dental makes sure I am comfortable (as I subconsciously grip the armrests) throughout the many procedures I've had: fillings, root canals, crowns...Their referral for dental implants is Dr Todd Miller, and he and his office are top notch, too. Dr Watanabe has even sent me directly to the dental lab so they can choose the right shade for the dental crowns I've had made. Dental assistants Lynn, Rose and the others (please forgive my faulty memory!) are friendly and efficient. I take advantage of the headset so I can watch Food Network to distract me as they take care of my teeth. Dental hygienist Phuong has been cleaning my teeth the most often, but all the hygienists I've seen have been thorough and gentle. Recently, my Mom (she'll be 95 in June!) saw Dr Kelly Pierson because her full dentures were loose. Mom is wheelchair-bound, has moderate hearing loss and speaks very softly, but Dr Pierson took excellent care of her needs. Last but not least, Renee takes care of the billing and the front office. She puts up with my running on "Asian time" and is used to my answering my cell phone, "Yes, Renee, I'm looking for a parking space" when I'm running a few minutes late... Came here for the first time recently and I was very pleased. The office is clean and the staff are SO friendly and accommodating! There was an opening that was available sooner than my scheduled appointment, so they called me to ask if I wanted to come in earlier (which I really appreciated). I started coming to Arbor Dental Group when my former dentist wasn't doing such a good job when I had some issues going on. I researched for a new dentist and found ADG. I met Dr. Scott and instantly felt at ease and comforted. He is an amazing dentist, patient, gentle and very understanding & professional. Dr. Scott will be my dentist going forward. The staff is wonderful, Renee has been outstanding, when I arrive each time she just makes you feel welcomed, she has this energetic personality and feels like an old friend. I accidentally chipped my front tooth and decided to finally get porcelain veneers. I was very nervous because I am a new patient who did not know the practice or the dentists and the out of pocket costs are expensive because the veneers are considered cosmetic. Dr. Scott, Linda and the veneer technician did an amazing job! I'm super happy with my new smile. Dr. Scott was meticulous and careful. The front desk receptionists are so nice, friendly, and explains the billing very thoroughly prior to the procedure.
