From start to finish, I had a wonderful experience with this office. They answered all my questions over the phone before I arrived, check in was quick, and I was taken back promptly. I believe it was Tina who did the intake info and testing. She was patient and explained every step well. Dr. Wood was thorough and pleasant during the exam. He explained everything fully. Lauren helped me with getting the lenses and trying them out. She was sweet and explained everything she was doing. The office staff at the end did a great job of taking their time even though it was after closing time, giving me the cost of my contacts with insurance and finding me a rebate as well. Dr Wood addressed all my concerns. I gave them 5 stars all the staff was very friendly and welcoming except one employee. She wasn't unfriendly just was not as welcoming as the rest of the staff. I like how Dr Wood explained everything. He didn't seem pushy at all with trying to upsell anything, just explained benefits if the different products and gave me some options. I can't say enough good things about Wood Vision Center. I've been having trouble for the last year...as cataracts were growing. Chip saw me through this, helped me get a great surgeon, and as of today...well I could sing it..." I can see clearly now..."!!! Dr. Wood gets five stars, but unfortunately I cannot say the same for the people behind the counter. His staff was a disorganized and not in sync. You would think with all the fancy headsets and's and microphones that would not be the case. My appointment took 2 hours and much time was spent waiting on the front desk. It took quite awhile for the clerical side of the house to verify what the optometrist and technicians and I had discussed. It was a constant back and forth that had me wondering why such poor communication? Text Notifications of when my eye glasses and contacts were ready for pick up were great! But unfortunately when I arrived to pick up my items, they asked for my name to look me up and couldn't figure out what they needed to get for me. This caused a delay of course and I had to wait for them to understand what the computer was reaThis, after I received several notices that my items were ready for pick up...? Like I said... Optometrist is great! Staff... lacking in the organizational skills department. So 3 stars is the best I can give for the frustration and wait times. ***Edit 2/26/2018*** Dr. Wood personally reached out to me to discuss my concerns. Every year I come in for my eye exam and every year Dr. Wood tries to upsell me on some product he's selling for too much money. The frames and lenses are also overpriced. Dr. Wood is a salesman more than a doctor. Being a good doc, which he is, doesn't make the aggressive sales tactics appealing. Plus if the items he's peddling are medically necessary why do I always have to pay out of pocket? Why won't insurance cover what he's pushing this year? Because YOU DON'T NEED IT. At the end of the day he's just lining his pockets by selling the eye drops and face wash and the masks that next year he will say didn't work and now I need the newer version of last years items for more money. If the item he's upselling me actually took care of my dry eyes or issue then why do I always need a different item the next year? Makes zero sense to keep coming here when the expensive thing he said would help didn't help. And telling me "I'm one of the best eye doctors in the nation..." when I wasn't buying what he was selling or "What you're doing isn't working" or "If you can't afford it..." didn't do him any favors. I do what he tells me so if it's not working the problem isn't me, it's his latest gimmick that I bought that didn't work. Finding a new doctor immediately that truly is just a doctor and not a salesman. Stay away. Overpriced and nothing he upsells ever works like he said it would. read more

Dr. Nguyen was very personable and made for a pleasurable process for both my daughter and myself. My husband and I had been going to this location for about four years. The doc is thorough, nice and polite but like other reviews, reception is sorely lacking. Just a couple of examples: I broke my glasses once and was in dire need of a new pair. When I explained this to the receptionist she sounded like she shrugged her shoulders when she told me, (I'm paraphrasing) "That's too bad, There's no one here to help you for a few days." Most times, we sat in the reception area waiting for our appointment for close to an hour. Okay. Everything I initially said stands, but I must forewarn you about purchasing glasses at this location. My appointment was on January 9, 2017 at 10:00 AM. I ordered my glasses around 11:00 AM. I was told it would take 3 to 5 business days. Including MLK holiday on the 15th that meant they should be ready by the 17th. I picked up the contacts that I ordered on the 19th. I inquired about my glasses and was told they spoke to the lab and they would be arriving on Monday the 22nd. On the 23rd I called and they still had not arrived. I requested to cancel my order so that I could purchase them elsewhere. I was told they would have the manager, Diego, who took my glass order call me. About an hour later, Diego called me and said he contacted the lab and asked them to expedite the order, but that all sales are final and I would not be able to get a refund. Diego told me that he hoped they would be arriving by Wednesday. On Friday, the 27th Diego called me and told me my glasses had come in. Diego stated he never recalled stating 3-5 days. He said for progressive lenses he tells the customer that it will be 1-1 1/2 weeks. 1 1/2 weeks would mean that at the latest they should have been in on the 22nd. I asked Diego to inform the doctor of my experience but I never heard from him. I finally was able to pick up my glasses today after being sick with the flu. I don't know if they forgot to order my glasses or if they have an extremely slow lab. As I said the staff is very pleasant and kind. I will just know to purchase my glasses elsewhere in the future. I prefer to purchase at the same doctor as I think it's important to financially support the doctor, but 21 days for glasses is too long. Last evening, February 26, 2018, Dr. Wood phoned me to discuss the encounter I had. I was pleased that the doctor was implementing new policy that will help avoid these miscommunications going forward. Do I wish his call had been more timely, say a month ago when this took place? I think so. But I have to be grateful that he did call and has taken action to correct the encounter that I had so that it doesn't occur again. That's all any consumer could hope for. You've been heard, you've received an apology, and corrective action has taken place. Many businesses are unaware of potential frustrations with their consumers until such events take place. How they respond makes all the difference in the world. Wood Vision Source did exactly as any business should do when they are presented with complaints like these. I support businesses willing to listen and willing to implement policy to help avoid it happening again with myself or any other customers. read more

This place was horrible. My wife went in and completed her eye exam within 20mins so I figured I would go next. Staff said I was next ... waited for 20mins then was seen for the first part. Then they sat me down in the waiting room for another 30 mins while he saw other patients .. then these "Pill Pushers" WHAT REALLY!!!! These reps are seen before the actual clients?!? Then when I asked to reschedule I got attitude from the secretary who ignored me while she talked with another customer. Paid for my wifes visit and left ... never going back to this place again! Patients beware!!! He was very nice and seemed to know what he was talking about but their priority's are way off ... I wasn't the only one in the waiting for mad. There wasn't enough chairs for everyone and I still had one other person in front of me. So over all if I would have stayed it would have been over a hour for simple eye exam .... NEVER GOING BACK HERE! EVEN FOR MY WIFE AND SONS GLASSES THAT THEY NEED .... FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO GO BECAUSE THIS OFFICE IS THE WORST! Now Dr Woods reply is just sad. I was never informed that there were 3 people ahead of me!! if so I would have rescheduled. I just think your staff is trained, like every doctors office, to take as much work in as possible which is what they did. If you didn't tell me yourself, Dr Wood, that there were 3 people ahead of me then I would suggest you going back to your CS Rep taking appointments because they are either lying to you or your being dishonest! Went to a Vision Center in Walmart and there was no wait ... paid half of what you charge for glasses too. Another doctor had told me he had no idea what was wrong and suggested I just stop wearing contacts. I scheduled an appointment online... there was 3 slots available and I picked the 12:00pm. However, I just showed up and they are now telling me they dont have that slot available and that their system is messed up and shows that slot when it shouldnt. They said they sent me an email cancelling. Of course, the email went to spam and I did not receive a call from them. Since it was their "systems" fault it would had been nice for them to make the attempt to squeeze me in or at least call me to advise me of the error. All they said was they have availability tomorrow. I worked from home today to be able to get my yearly exam. Time to find a new place that is more reliable. read more

I recently visited the new "Woods Vision Source" and was very unhappy when I left. My last visit was a year ago when it was "Bandera Vision Source" and Dr. Singleton was the ophthalmologist I saw. I really liked him as he was knowledgeable, kind, and not pushy about getting glasses right then. Having had Lasik I have to get an exam every year to keep up with the warranty. I made this clear to Dr. Wood. When I checked in the receptionist was very nice. The guy that took me back to do my measurements was also seemed nice at first. I went back from getting my measurements taken and waited in the waiting room for about 5 minutes until I was called back for the actual exam. Once in the exam room, Dr. Wood explained to me that he had recently purchased the business and started telling me about all of the recent advancements for glasses ($$$), what he recommends for my new glasses, and all of his success. He seemed nice enough but started to sound "sales-y" and thanked me 5 times for being a customer and coming back. The way he spoke seemed to be very pushy as if insistent for me to buy something that day. Dr. Wood walked me out and standing at the front desk was a salesperson ready to "help me". Dr. Wood asked that I go take a seat where the salesman could help me choose frames (after I had already said I have to get yearly exams and that's why I was there). Dr. Wood left and I told the sales person "I'm sorry if there was a misunderstanding, but I'm not buying glasses today, I just needed to get my exam done." Without saying a word or looking at me he looked over to the salesperson who took my measurements sitting behind the reception desk and they exchanged a glance, snickered to each other and said something in Spanish that I did not understand. He didn't say one word to me and left me to pay for the exam at the desk. After this, it was clear that the new management is mostly concerned about sales and not the quality of customer's experience. I felt like the butt of a joke and was shocked this could be tolerated. This is NOT how the business was run before under Dr. Singleton. I will not be going back to "Wood Vision-Source". What a crappy way to treat customers. read more

I had a great experience with Dr. Wood and his staff! I am a healthcare professional myself, whose job is to improve the patient experience, so I can be very hard to impress. Initially when I called to make the appointment I requested a particular day/time due to my busy schedule. The receptionist told me they didn't have any openings, but that she would call me if someone cancelled. She called me the next morning stating that someone cancelled and they could get me in. When I got to the office I waited about 10 minutes to be called back for testing, then seated again for about 20 minutes, and then called back again to see Dr. Wood. They told me how many patients were before me and I knew Dr. Wood was the only Doctor there, so I had realistic expectations. Also, this is a place of business, so of course they are going to try and upsale certain products. All I did was say thanks but I'm happy with what I have. Dr. Wood was NOT pushy and didn't mention the products anymore. It's sad that people slam businesses on Yelp instead of speaking to a manager right then and there. It's very passive aggressive if you ask me. If I'm going to complain about a service, I'm going to be an adult and ask for a manager right then and there, and allow them an opportunity to fix the problem. read more
