Ultimately, Bella Optical disappointed me. I'm almost sorry I'm writing this three star review, because my appointments there were generally good, no nonsense eye checks. I enjoyed seeing the optometrists I saw. I visited Bella for no other reasons other than my yearly eye exam. I think I went a total of twice in a three year period. Seriously, no issues. BUT. There's always a "but" with these types of reviews, ammaright? I recently chose to switch optometrists to one that was more convenient and where my wife had a great experience. TWO WEEKS before my appointment, I contacted Bella through their website requesting my records - even if it was just copies of my last Rx. Nothing. Heard nothing. Then, about three days before my appointment, I CALLED. I left a detailed message with all my information. Guess what?! Yep. You got it. No return call, no email, no records sent in the mail. Am I too "old school" calling and asking for records!? Maybe. I mean, my new optometrists office scanned my glasses to determine my rx with no issues. But I emailed you, I called. No response. I've been coming here for years and never had any complaints until this year. I've been getting nonstop calls from Bella Optical to "remind me I need to make an appointment". I called in September and said "I'll call you, please stop calling", I called again in October and asked to be removed from their call list and was told by the call center agent that they can't do it. I called again this month and was told by the office that my number was removed and I should no longer be getting call. Today I just got another call. Late review. My appointment was in July 2022. Honestly, I only went for an exam, but their professionalism and customer service was A+. There was absolutely no way that I'd take my prescription somewhere else. While I may not remember everyone's names, I do remember that they all paid attention to detail, they listened, and provided a lot of feedback to me. Every question I had was answered. I absolutely love my glasses. They match my personality. Lol. Also, the young lady who helped me pick out my glasses was so knowledgeable. So knowledgeable as if she made the glasses. I did my own research about the company and everything she stated was accurate. They even gave me some Godiva chocolates with my purchase. Everything was so thoroughly explained that I didn't even have questions. My glasses arrived as scheduled. The service that they provided was so great that I wanted to speak to the manager. This place has the kind of employees that anyone would want to hire. I definitely would. I was a new patient and called to get my benefits. I told the receptionist that I had United, yet she asked for my social anyway and quoted VSP benefits. Once I reiterated that I had insurance, she asked for that info, and I received the correct quote. I wish she would have paid closer attention to what I was saying. When I walked in for my appointment, I made eye contact with an employee, who was leaning against a table talking to a coworker. She just looked away and kept talking. As I walked up to the counter, she came over with zero urgency and asked how she can help me while texting and staring at her phone. I could not believe that this was my experience only after 15 seconds of walking in. I was livid the entire appointment. When I used to work in retail, I would welcome people as soon as we made eye contact, even if I had to interrupt my coworkers. However, the optometrist was super nice and cheery. This place is pretty great. It's location is what brought me in. It what made me stay was the service. Although I've changed doctors a few times in the few years I've been here, I've never been disappointed. The staff here is friendly and helpful. I rarely have ridiculous wait times to see the doctor. They have a great selection of affordable glasses and also offer a great selection of luxury brands including Kate Spade, Tiffany Co, Gucci, Ray Ban, etc. want to use up that flex spending for the year before you lose it? Greed and callousness at its worst!!! Their callous disregard to a potentially serous eye problem I had and their drive to peddle cost me a permanent damage to a nerve and thus vision in one of my eyes!!!!!. Prior to this experience I had always had excellent vision until I started to have blurry vision, redness and pain. Granted I should have gone to an ophthalmologist (and I would have had I known cause and solution) . However, for all the series of tests that they have done - including eye pressure check - it's incredible how they could have missed a pressure that was at 40mm Hg (three times normal and damaging to a nerve!!!!) They were laser focused on selling me the most "advance" lenses...etc. Even when I came back because the glasses were not helping at all, they still were focused in selling me more, and "better". The delay in getting the proper treatment caused the damage to my eyes. They have all the equipment and all the expertise to see a dangerous buildup of pressure, but they chose to sell me glasses rather possibly lose a business by referring a patient out to a specialist (Opthalmologist) I eventually ended up seeing an opthalmologist on my own after better educating my self. at which time the damage to my optic nerve has already happened. It's stunning how greed can breed callousness.!! read more

My fiancé broke his classes as we were on leave. They did his eye exam by a technician and told us to wait. We waited for over an hour for him to see the doc. There was only a few people ahead of us. That's too long just to see the doc after the exam happened and he paid. They also have that they take Tricare but they don't really. It's only a very specific type of Tricare for adults 60 and up in age. If you say you take tricare then I'm automatically thinking prime which they don't take. If you have people waiting this long then I expect you to have a public restroom which they don't. If we would've known about any of this then we wouldn't have come. Don't wait your time. read more

I've gone to see Dr. Amir since 2006. I have to say staffing has been changed up and better people work there now. I got my eyes checkup early this year I think that was in February. It was slightly awkward when the assistant brought my parents in for the check up. When I informed her I was well over the age of 18. She she apologized and told me I look very young for my age. (No worries, happens too often to me haha) Check up was uneventful and went smooth. As for frames I ended up waiting to find a pair of glasses I wanted. When it comes to glasses I'm pretty indecisive. Fast forward to June - With the help of a employee I found I really nice pair of copper/red frames. Took about 4 to 5 days to get the lens and cut. Would of taken longer if my prescription was really stronger. Just as a note. So, finally got my glasses on the 7th of June and wore them for the weekend. I noticed a Prism (a rainbow from light hitting it) at the bottom of my glasses. From what I was told, Turns out they polish the edges of the lens to make it look really cool. And topically most people would not notice a prisim but since I had a thin frame. Thus the issue. So they simply grinded the polish off the bottom edge of the lens. Everything is all squared away and I'm pretty happy with my glasses. read more

Dr. Amir took the time to explain his reasoning behind each recommendation and patiently answered all my questions. Absolutely horrible service I am a optometry student and I frequent various optometry offices to get a feel of how they run and this is by far one of the worst places I have ever visited in the San Antonio area. I have absolutely nothing against the doctor; he was excellent and well mannered. The problem I ran into was dealing with his staff. The service I received was completely subpar. Rude and pushy on sales. Ordering glasses from them was an incredible pain. DO NOT ORDER glasses from these guys ever! I really should just return them because I do not think their terrible service should merit any profit. I have spoken to an acquaintance of mine who had recently visited this office as well and had the same opinion. I truly recommend the doctor find new staff pronto as he deserves a much better team than the one he has now. read more

While I felt Dr. Cummings was fantastic and did a great job, I will never go back to this facility simply because the office manager refused to bill my visit as an eye exam! I tried my best to explain to her that I was coming in because it had been years since I had seen an eye doctor, AND I was also having itchy eyes, she refused to rebill it as an eye exam and insisted on billing it as a doctors visit, so TRICARE is not covering it since I didn't have a referral.....LUDICTRIOUS .....I'm not sure why she is mincing words, when I did have my sight tested and general vision discussed. She basically called me a liar on the phone and refused to bill it any other way. First and last visit.....all due to an office manager. They were too busy and too focused on selling that they completely missed the fact that my vision problem had been inflammation and pressure build up. After $600 worth of out of pocket for their "best and customized" lenses, and after a lot of back and forth, I sought a second opinion at another facility. In short, after treatment with antiinflammatory and pressure reducing drops, my eyesight is back to normal.. I did not need my expensive eyeglasses which is now sitting and collecting dust.
