This is the best place I've used in San Antonio for eye exams and glasses. Convenient location, easy parking, very pleasant facility. Dr. Fair is so kind and patient! She responds to all my question and concerns. The part of the exam for health of your eyes is so thorough, and the equipment is futuristic. The receptionists are always pleasant and efficient and the phone is answered promptly and visits scheduled soon. The techs who take your glasses orders are also very patient and helpful. I had been to several other places around town and also made the mistake of ordering glasses online and not being able to return them because I didn't do it fast enough. This was the best eye exam visit I have ever had in my entire life. First, every person I interacted with was pleasant, prompt and went above and beyond to help me. My eye exam was the coolest exam I have had. They have the latest and greatest for exam equipment, so it was blast to sit at each machine and have the different aspects of my eyes examined. Eye exams have come a long way since I was a kid. So much fun! My tech did a wonderful job. Then Dr. Turner did such a wonderful job answering my questions and reviewing all of my material with me. I enjoyed talking with her and my exam so much, I never thought I would say that about any exam. She is so thorough, gentle and knowledgeable. Then I have never had so much care taken to help me select frames and get them fitted properly. A fantastic selection is available to choose from. So much attention to detail was taken, it was such a treat. The techs also went above and beyond to work with my insurance and get me taken care of for my frames and lenses. My glasses were also ready within a week. If you need anything eye related I would highly recommend seeing Dr. Turner and her team. read more

Her name was "June" and she provided the most memorable customer service experience I have received in over a year. She willingly walked me throughout the large selection of glasses and probed to determine my "Style." People came in while she was showing me around, but she did not once rush me, or seem ready to finish quickly to tend to others. This aspect of my visit made me feel valued and gave me a high level of respect and patience for the business. I got so comfortable that we started talking about life ventures and goals and got to learn a bit about her ambitions and more. It really was a phenominal experience, and it was Phenominal from "Start To Finish." The optometrist has a delightful personality, and took her time to emotionally reinforce the positive aspects of what was found. Not one time did she present anything in an alarming manner and seemed to delight in a bit of side talk while accomplishing the tasks at hand. I even advised that I am moving to Arkansas and she advised it would not be a problem, the office is equipped for those situations as well. If I had to summarize things, "Go here!" You will be treated like royalty, enjoy delicious coffee while you await your appointment, and certainly get the thorough eye care you desire. read more

I made an appointment over a month ago and the day of had NO IDEA there would be NO PARKING and would end up driving around the crowded little strip center looking for a space and when I FINALLY found one the girl said Oops, too late, the doctor you were going to see went in with another patient.....no apologies, terrible Customer Service, no PARKING and plan EXTRA time for all the unplanned delays and inconvenience. I am glad it didn't work out, I prefer good Customer Service and an easier appointment to go to. read more

This was my first visit to this location. It's conveniently near my work office and was recommended to me by my friend. The staff and professionals were wonderful. Out of all the eye exams I've ever had, this has to be the most thorough exam I've ever had for my eyes. They went way beyond my expectations. The doctor was very, very friendly and answered all the questions I had. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone. All the frames are locked on the wall so you can't take your time trying things on AND in the one visit I had, the person who had to unlock each frame I want to try on was noticeably becoming impatient with me after about 8 frames. Sorry, I have to walk around with these frames on my face each and every day... I really want to make sure they look good. read more

Terrible service- very unfriendly! I had to ask for each pair of glass to try on as they were all locked up. Sales lady 'allowed' me to try on one pair then went back to desk- I kept having to ask her to unlock separate pairs of glasses as you do when your trying to find the right pair. Didn't even make it to an appointment and this is the worst customer service in my 40 years of using eye care. Called on Tuesday requesting appointments for myself and two of my kids. Said they could only see 2 of us in a day. I wanted to get my children taken care of first. They told me they needed to verify my insurance and they would call me back to make an appointment. I've never had to wait to make an appointment until my insurance was verified. No call back. I called the next day and they said they were really backed up with insurance verifications because it's after the holidays. The woman said they would get back to me that day. If they are that backed up in mid January from the holidays, I hate to see what their appointments look like. So, here we are going into Friday. No call back and I'm moving on. Unprofessional. I was so impressed with the customer service there. My son and I both went in for our appointments, which were back to back. I got to sit in with my son's exam and then we walked right over to another room for my exam. Dr. Gutierrez was awesome. I have never had a more thorough conversation with my ophthalmologist before. The pricing was less expensive than I am used to coming from out of state, so that was a very pleasant surprise. I am not sure if that is due to my vision coverage or their pricing though. I also bought some Ed Hardy sunglasses, which I absolutely love. I have never had such an enjoyable experience getting my eye exam. I was also impressed that I received an e-mail from Dr. Gutierrez the following day with his pager, cell phone, and home phone number "in case of...emergency". Wow! Love Dr. Gutierrez! Best eye doctor I've had over the years. He is also an opthomologist which means he does a more thorough exam than optometrist. Most people don't think there's a big difference between the two but there is. I've never had a problem with that office. I now live in Austin and have been trying to find a doctor here and have been through 2 already. First one misperscribed me and the second one confirmed that I was miss prescribed but I am still having focus issues and the 2nd doctor had no answers for me and sent me on my way with no solution. BTW both of the Austin doctors I went to were only Optometrist. I am seriously thinking about driving back to San Antonio and scheduling an appointment. read more

I have gone to this optometrist shop for years, and have always had good experiences in the past, except for my recent visit. My check-up was great, I was in and out in 30 minutes. It's the buying new glasses part that was awful. I went in on a Tuesday and told the optician that I was leaving for vacation the following Thursday and asked if my glasses would be ready by then. Seeing that they are closed on Sundays, that is 8 days. Eight. Days. They said sure. So okay, Monday rolls around, no call. I call. Frames are there but lenses are not. They said they'd call me the next day- they DIDN'T CALL. I'm a busy enough gal as is it, and having to call and chase down my Rx glasses is not something I should have had to do. After calling them about 6 times (literally), I get a call on Wednesday around noon telling me that my glasses are ready. I pick them up, try them on outside (these are Rx sunglasses), and the lenses are barely a few shades darker than my regular spectacles. Meaning, they are not dark nor do they provide any sun protection. I call back and say that I'm unhappy with the shade, and the optician offers to do it that evening if I come back in. So I go back in to the shop, wait half an hour, and she gives me the glasses back and they essentially look the same. She said that she would order me new, darker lenses and they would be here when I got back from vacation. I got back Saturday (I informed them of this as well), today is Wednesday. I will not be going back. I had a similar situation as Melissa L. My husband's glasses broke and he needed a new pair before we left on vacation. We communicated our time requirements to this Vision Source. If they had not assured us that the glasses could be in by the date we needed, we would have tried other locations or ordered a less, complicated pair of glasses with a cheap frame so that he could get by. On the very last day before our vacation, the staff called me, the wife, to tell me my husband's glasses would not be in until the nest day -- when we will be on a plane. read more
