Hillbilly Bowl - A foam takeout container holds scrambled eggs, ham, and melted cheese, with a black fork and a black tongs inside, placed on a plastic bag.

Tried breakfast from Wood's Corner for the first time this morning. I wanted to order for pickup and the menu on their Facebook page wasn't working, so I sent them a message on Messenger and they responded immediately and sent me pictures of the menu! Took a look at the menu, called it in, and they told me ten minutes! When I arrived my food was ready and was reasonably priced. The place was small, but cute. I ordered a half order of the biscuits and gravy. They were AMAZING, I should've ordered the full. So good I for got to take a picture until I was halfway done. My boyfriend got the hillbilly bowl with pancakes and he said both were pretty good. I didn't try it, but it looked good. We also got an order of the chilaquiles. Unfortunately, these were disappointing. I ordered them with over easy eggs and the eggs were definitely significantly overcooked. The chorizo was more like ground beef, not enough queso, and the flavor of the salsa roja was off. I would definitely still order from here again, just not the chilaquiles. I'll stick to the biscuits and gravy and maybe try the bamma Benny next time!

Breakfast bowl - A breakfast meal featuring eggs, hash browns with ham and green peppers, and a side of pancakes, served on white plates.

staying in the area for a few days and I am a breakfast person, so I was searching out a non-chain restaurant for my morning fare. This place is the bomb and I mean that in a great way! I've had breakfast there the last two days and I was waiting to write review just to make sure that they nailed it the second time as well. And they did. the first day I ordered the standard fare of eggs, bacon, country potatoes, and toast along with my badly needed coffee. On day two, I ordered a breakfast bowl which consisted of eggs over easy on top of country potatoes with green peppers and onions. Pancakes on the side and coffee. I have to tell you both meals came out, hot and tasty and filling. Plus, the portions were a good size. in fact, I could not finished the bowl on day two. The service was exceptional, I never had to ask for a coffee refill, the prices are reasonable, and the place is spotless. Even the bathrooms are clean. the staff says hello when you walk in and they say goodbye as you depart. Unlike the review by Karen R. farther down the list (isn't that name appropriate), this place rocks. If you are so particular about your palate that each piece of seasoning and flavor are scrutinized, then you're going to find something wrong no matter where you go. But if you're looking for good, hot food served by somebody that is attentive and nice, and in a clean environment, get your ass here and have some breakfast. Pictures below of what I had.

Chicken Cesar Chicken Caesar Wrap - A white plate holds two wraps, one partially open showing chicken and vegetables, with French fries and pickle slices on the side.

I visited during a Saturday afternoon and was surprised with how empty it was. It was one other family that were in the middle of their meal so I was a little nervous. Luckily, the emptiness wasn't related to the quality of the food because it was good. The crawfish etouffee was well seasoned and had a bit of a kick to it if you enjoy spice. They do have a full service bar with cocktails; I ordered a mixed drink and while it tasted fine, I could hardly taste any alcohol in it. The service was also a bit slower than I'd imagine considering that it was empty when I dined. Despite those minor shortcomings, I enjoyed my dining and would keep it on my list of places to consider in the future.

They enjoyed the poboys and thought the fried green tomato on it was an interesting touch. I ordered the vegetarian jambalaya, fried green tomatoes, and fried buffalo mushroom. Overall, I feel like everything, I ordered, was lacking in seasoning. The fried green tomatoes were good with dipping sauce. The batter on the mushrooms were on the soggy side; they might do better to cut the mushrooms instead of serving them whole. The jambalaya was too soupy. Traditional jambalaya doesn't have a liquid/soup to it. The jambalaya was more like a veggie étouffée. I would visit again to try the vegetarian jambalaya and, maybe, have the fried green tomatoes again.
