Today I returned to the wonderful D'Poly Taco Grill and Beer in El Centro where my epic hiking…read moreexpedition ended in failure, disappointment, and embarrassment a few weeks ago. I intended to travel the entire 2,600-mile length of the Pacific Crest Trail, but my adventure unceremoniously ended in El Centro under a tree about 60 miles east of my starting point. The paramedics told me that hiking is not for everyone. After a desperate two weeks of hiking with little food and water through BLM land tracks, old service roads, and desert washes, as best I can recall, I finally set up camp in El Centro under a farmer's tree near his washing line. Soon after the farmer called the police about my campfire, the authorities and my ex-wife found me in a state of delerium hosting a tea party under a large avocado tree wearing the farmer's wife's plus size nightgown while serving "cups of chai tea" to a sizable pile of rotten avocados and a rusty shovel that I thought was "Jan" from those Toyota commercials. My first real meal after being found by the authorities and my ex-wife was at D'Poly Taco Grill and Beer. D'Poly was the perfect welcome back to civilization as it has a spectacular menu full of delicious Mexican cuisine like street tacos, flautas, sopes and empanadas. The Lineman burrito is my absolute favorite. And they have a wonderful breakfast menu! It's fast casual dining, but it has a sort of classic and moody vibe that gives off a more upscale feel. Love it! A wonderful place to break free of your delusions. My ex-wife tried to tell me that hiking is not for everyone. Thankfully, the paramedics found my emergency contact list and phoned my ex-wife who showed up and broke me out of my stupor by making me drop my emotional support avocado, taking me by the shoulders and shaking me vigorously while yelling "it's over, it's over!" Ironically, that was the same way she told me we were getting divorced. I'm not a quitter, so it takes a while for me to give up. I've since tried many items on the D'Poly menu and everything is exceptional, though I do avoid adding avocado. It's just too soon. Thank you D'Poly Taco Grill and Beer! Five stars.

We came into town for an event and this restaurant was recommended to us for the "vibes" lol. The food was pretty good, but you can definitely tell that people come more for the vibes. We got different smattering of tacos/Tex-Mex food. MAKE IT A PLATE because the rice and beans and fun veggies. Impromptu belated birthday celebration - cake came with a sparkler! Cake was moist and not too sweet, yummy lemon flavor!

I ordered sweet potato fries with my burgers and I kid you not the darn fries were completely RAW.. like raw..and covered in oil. As if thrown in oil for a couple seconds and taken right out. They where hard.. BOTH ORDERS WENT IN THE TRASH! I ordered my 2 year old son a kids meal.. nuggets with fries and they put chili powder on the d*** fries.. are you kidding me... ‍‍... this place is a horrible. I read a few reviews and thought to myself ( either they paid for these reviews or it's really good)! So I gave it the benefit of a doubt, and decided to try it. Fenomenal! This has got to be one of the best burgers I've ever had. I' wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone. Only 4 stars because the fríes where not that great, next time I'll try the onion rings...

There were outside seating which I would have preferred but I think they left those for people with reservations. Inside they put the AC way too high. And the bar was way too dark to have dinner, even though the hostess did say you can order food at the bar. It was just not an ambient to have dinner over. I can imagine it will be great for a date over drinks kinda vibe. Our server was so sweet, and even gave our birthday boy a free dessert: a gluten free banana bread which was divine. I love how there are dairy free and gluten free options here. The ingredients all felt fresh and well seasoned. Flavors were all on point. Except the shrimp dish I wouldn't order again. It lacked oomph, no depth, no texture, it was a boring dish. We got to see some live music next door after dinner under the stars which was so nice! Will be back again, and try other items on the menu.

5/5 Would Let Cameron Ruin My Diet Again Listen up, desert…read morerats and accidental Salton Sea tourists: if you're cruising past that apocalyptic inland ocean and your stomach starts growling louder than your regrets, you NEED to slam on the brakes at the Ski Inn. Why? Two words: Cameron. And her curves. Sweet baby Jesus on a jet ski, this woman floats behind the bar like a mirage you actually get to touch (the drinks, people, touch the drinks). She's serving looks so dangerous I forgot how to blink. Hips that could cause a 20-car pileup on the 86. I ordered a beer and accidentally proposed. She just laughed, poured me another, and said "Honey, slow down, the burgers aren't going anywhere." Ma'am, neither am I. Speaking of the burgers... these world-famous bad boys are so juicy they should come with a towel and a safe word. I'm pretty sure they're 50% beef, 50% black magic, and 100% the reason I now need new pants. One bite and I saw God. He was wearing a Ski Inn t-shirt and nodding approvingly at Cameron's... service skills. Pro tip: sit at the bar so Cameron can lean over to take your order and you can die happy right there between the peanut shells and your own drool. 10/10. The burgers are life-changing. Cameron is a national treasure. My cholesterol is crying but my soul is full. Ski Inn: Come for the greasy perfection, stay because Cameron smiled at you and now you live here.
