First time: Staff was very polite and attentive. Chicken with spinach and cheese was delicious and had a sauce with just a tiny kick of spice, also delicious. Chicken was juice and a very good size portion. Second time: Staff was great. Our server. Rafael was amazing! He was very patient describing the menu options to us and gave us great suggestions. He was super helpful and friendly. I tried the Cheese Soup which was flavorful and delicious. It had chunks of queso and papas, in a tomato broth, so good. I also had chicken which was flavorful and not dry. My meal was tasty surrounded by a delicious green sauce. The chips and beans starter was fresh and crispy. My husband had the steak they prep on the Himalayan salt which was really cool to see it flaming! Staff clears the table quickly. Per usual the food was great, staff was great and we will def return.

5/5 every dish. Wow. Customer service was amazing. Food ordered exactly the way we requested. I will go back and recommend to everyone I know.

Would I come here again? Unfortunately I would not. Mexicali has delicious food but their fancy restaurants are overhyped and too expensive. I wouldn't complain about the price of their food if it was high quality in taste. I honestly would have preferred to pay that money at a taco stand. I think Mexicalis street tacos are 10x better to be honest. The food is just not what you expect it to be at this restaurant. The plate that I ordered was a bit plain it had a weird teriyaki taste with bacon. I didn't really enjoy that combination. The presentation was good but what's the point of presentation if the food isn't good? the meat was nice and tender I'll give them that. The customer service is pretty good they were busy that day so it wasn't "excellent". We gave the guy a really good tip because he was very nice to us towards the end of the night.

Great spot for a good steak. After a year of being locked down in the states i was finally able to make the journey visit my grandparents and friends in Mexicali. We were looking for a nice place that had covid precautions in place and this checked those boxes. Overall it was a great spot that i would recommend. Restaurante Palominos is located in the far north of the city right up along the border. Its a couple minutes north of the main downtown strip, but it is located in a safe seeming neighborhood that i didn't mind leaving my car in for a few hours. They had plenty of covid precautions in place, such as temperature checks, table spacing and dividers, and fully masked staff. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It's been a while since i've gone to a steakhouse, and seldom have I gone to one in Mexico, so I needed some help when it came to ordering. The servers were direct and insightful with their suggestions and ultimately guided me to choices that elevated my experience. The first thing the wait staff helped me choose was my drink. Ultimately i went was a Mortal Days and was delighted. The mandarin, passion fruit and Aperol combined to make a great drink for the Mexicali heat and Mezcal just took it one step further to elevate it to perfection with a slightly smokey aftertaste. For my appetizer I ordered some Chicharron de Ribeye, and with the sauce, I was blown away that that wasn't the star of the show. Finally my main meal came in, a Filete al Bacanora. This giant ~20 oz steak is cooked in a spicy compound butter with a regional chile, flambéed in a local high-proof liquor, bacanora, and finished on a hot salt block. This is probably the best steak i've ever had and perfect for sharing since you can take it off the salt block once it reaches your desired doneness. Do heed the waiters warning to cut the steak and bring an extra plate since it does easily soak up the salt from the block if left on for too long. This place has some shortcomings, such as the stale chips and subpar refried beans, however those won't scare me from coming back. If you want a nice place to hang out with family, a nice date, or even just in the mood for the best steak in Mexicali make sure to check out this place.

Food: Bring your appetite! First, they have this cool HUGE chip they bring to the table with different salsas. It is thin like Indian Naan bread. Very unique. Then they bring the cuts of steak right to your table so you can see what you are ordering! That was pretty cool. I got the rib eye and it was cooked PERFECTLY. However, the guy must have thought I could eat a house, because he gave me a 600 gram steak! After the appetizers and drinks, I couldn't even eat half of it. We ordered the octopus also and though I ate it, it wasn't like SUPER awesome. The Mexican cheese was good with the grilled cactus. Food was classic steakhouse with a Mexican touch, very good. Atmosphere: It's a nice place inside, a little dark but has a steakhouse feel. They have York-like peppermints at the door, make sure you grab a few of those! Rustic feel, well decorated, clean inside. Price: Even for Mexico, the place can get a bit pricy. I didn't pay the bill, but I know it was a lot per person. Course we did have some rather expensive items... If you are only getting a steak, sides and a drink or two, it will probably come out to 40-50 American dollars. Service: Very attentive, the waiter we had was very eager to get us more of whatever we needed. It was cool that they made it kind of like a showcase to cut our steaks. Overall: The place is nice, medium range for a steakhouse and everyone was professional, but it wasn't like "Drop outta my seat awesome." However, I would go back to try out more items on the menu. Definitely a good, solid restaurant.

First word: Over rated. Second word: OverPriced! Food was ok. I ordered a steak and it was a. It dry and no juice at all. I ordered medium. Service was bad. We were seated by hostess and had to wait about 10 minutes to get our menus and place drink order. Received luke warm beer. Took a while for waiter to return. Places ordered and soup took almost 15/20 to arrive. Meat 10 minutes later. Could have saved half of what we spent eating somewhere else and had better service. I'm not sure if the lack of service was because we were not wearing a suit and tie as I saw other tables with better service than we had. Not coming back!

Delicious food. I ordered the tomahawk cut ribeye and it was huge and tender. My coworkers ordered a shrimp botana that I can honestly say was the best shrimp cooked in limon I have ever had. Another plate ordered was the fillet mignon and that was one of the best and most tender steaks I have ever had . This is a high class restaurant and I recommend it.

Another cool thing is that the have a waitresses with different alcohol beverages (at additional costs). Also there was a decrease in price after a certain time but I'm not sure if this is a normal special. Now to the comparisons, the meats are cooked medium from what I could tell. Some Brazilian steak houses tend towards the medium rare side but not Pampas although you could probably ask. All the meats felt a little more fatty than some of the other steakhouses I've been to, not saying they don't have those better cuts of meat but I also never asked for them so I was eating based on requests from the other table. The food buffet was quite good and honestly I would've enjoyed eating more of the buffet if I wasn't focused on the meats. They brought out a pitcher of sangria that was really good. Overall I had a really good experience. It's comparable to a good Brazilian steakhouse and the price is really affordable. The ambiance is nice, the servers are all polite and friendly. The kitchen is clean and visible to anyone interested. What a bar! Drink up! The tables were set perfectly, with white linen. We thoroughly enjoyed the appetizers and the wait service started off okay. Our entreés came out and they weren't as satisfactory. The ribeye was good, but we asked for it to be cooked medium and it was rare. The duck confit was overcooked. It should have been medium rare, it was more than well done and very dry. The grilled octopus was cooked properly but the sauce was bitter. We decided we could live with the steak and duck, but the octopus tasted bad. So we returned the plate letting the wait staff know that the sauce was too bitter for our liking. This is where the night took a turn. After disappearing for a very long time, our waiter returned to tell us that she was frustrated. Frustrated because she couldn't understand why we didn't like the octopus plate, especially since the chef tasted the plate and said it was cooked/plated properly. All three of us tasted the octopus and didn't like it. For the record, we love octopus and have had it many ways across North America. At this point we told the waiter that although the chef thought it was good, it simply was not to our liking. Shortly after this interaction Rosalinda, head of wait staff, came to our table. She said "I know that the octopus was not to your liking, but would you like us to pack it up for you to take home?" We asked why we would want to take home a plate we didn't like. We asked if she had tasted the plate and liked it and Rosalinda said, "Yes. I tasted it. But I don't like seafood." It became clear that they wanted to charge us for the plate of food we sent back and that they wanted to be clear that they thought nothing of our opinion of the food's taste, because the chef thought it was good. After some back and forth, they finally agreed to take the plate off of the bill. Before we sent the plate back, taking into account that all the dishes were off, I said "I'm not going to write a review, because anyone can have an off night. Maybe we'll try again." But after being treated so poorly and feeling insulted, I decided that I needed to warn people about their terrible customer service. Will never return or recommend.

Would have been nicer if there were some kind of sauce to go with it I thought. Butter, demiglase, chimichurri, something. The arugula salad that came with was too salty and too sour but the tomatoes in the salad was delightful. Is that grilled or put in oven for short time? Light warmness of those tomatoes really brought out the sweetness of the tomatoes itself, I enjoyed that very much. The salsa and beans that came at the beginning of the meal was actually really good. Wife ordered a hamburger, and wow. The meat was so so sooo salty. That's gotta be extra salted by mistake. There is no way that was prepared correctly. Tortilla soup was quite plain. I kinda wished there to have more depth in flavor. We ordered the signature tacos for my kid. I didn't try them but my kid liked it. Price was about $100 for 3 of us. And I feel that's a bit much for this quality of experience on this side of the border. 4 stars, I think is the reasonable decision on my part.
