Excellent service ALL THE TIME! This is always my go-to place when I am visiting Mexicali. The staff is very attentive, the food is always delicious and full of flavor. Family took us out here, was a short wait middle of a Saturday. It was busy and it seemed too many staff to know what's going on at times. But we ordered the shrimp with stuffed peppers and it was delicious! As well as a few tostadas tuna, shrimp and scallops . Scallops was my absolute favorite so fresh! Restaurant Cabanna is located in the center of Golden Zone in Mexicali. For people who stays in either Fairfield or Holiday Inn this place is located right between both hotels within a walking distance. This place is good for every occasions. Date, business, family or just drop in with friends for beer and some Mexican dishes. They serve mostly local style food and in some way it can be consider as a Mexican Tapa place. I usually order variety of small dishes to share between friends and couple of beers. Food is pretty presentable and flavorful. Some times I bring here visitors from overseas and I get great compliments. Last night I order a out of menu dish that served grilled Octopus, fish and shrimp. It taste excellent. I have uploaded the picture so it can be ordered in off menu days. Ceviche Mazatlán (is mango sauce ceviche) was excellent with tropical flavor. So many good dishes but small belly. Great food and always enjoy my favorite the quesito shrimp & steak tacos. Family ordered different meals which came accompanied with tortillas even if that did not go with the dish. Pretty strange? Anyways food is great. Would rate 5 stars but service was kind of wacky since the beginning. Not enough attention from out waiter and take in mind there is plenty of waiters on site. Mom ordered Mango margarita which had no taste whatsoever to alcohol. Pretty disappointing. Cabanna is better suited for a late evening type of place. The vibe it portrays is great for a meal before hitting the nightlife. It has good drinks and decent food, hence the rating. The restaurant was still pushing for a party vibe at noon, which didn't work. I ordered their tiradito de atuna & the aguachile mangochile robalo. The tiradito was good, definitely was a more satisfying dish between the two. The aguachile was decent but personally think it was too sweet. Terrible wait, been here thirty minutes and barely had a waiter notice we haven't been helped. Toom about thirty minutes to get a waiter to remind them of our drinks and the manger even came and didn't really care. Across the street is Meztiso which is way faster more simple menu but only good thing from here is aque chiles and maybe the queso tacos. Ángel was our server and unfortunately was terrible but the manager was just walking around doing nothing so worse situation. Wonderful Ambiance, customer service and great food. I'm a vegetarian but the staff went above and beyond to make me vegetarian quesadillas. Their avocado sauce was great. Please do ask for this if they don't offer. My colleagues had seafood and they loved it. read more

Wanted to try a new place so headed here. I picked at my plate. Got the fettuccini but the flavor was much different than what I have ever had before. I tried to eat it but just didnt like it, sorry. My husband and I ordered 3 entrees so we could try a few things. Prices were a little high. Seems like it's a "fancy" place and was priced that way. We left hungry and displeased. read more

I really like Cabanna. I mostly order the same thing. I feel it is a really chill place. The price is ok. Do not like they do not have Corona LOL. Today I ordered a shrimp agua chile and a spicy fettuccini Alfredo with shrimp. So far so good. We did have to ask for water twice, not that big of a deal. read more

I am a huge fan of good food and Margaritas! Being tourists in town for medical reasons we were staying at a nearby hotel. We asked for a good nearby restaurant. Wow is all I can say! For starters they are all friendly, instead of the chips and dips we get before the meal they serve thin apple slices with hot sauce on it and limes on the side. I must admit both times we went I kind of hogged them! They offer amazingly fresh seafood dishes, I believe this is where I had an amazing ceviche and great appetizers but their "margaritas" called daisies are their stars! They are HUGE! Oh and oh so good with several flavors. I don't know much about Mexicali, the area we were in seemed to be an industrial area that is beginning to change their image. If in town check them out. You will be glad you did!! Try a daisy! Two may be too many, but we were walking. read more

This USED TO BE my go to place in Mexicali. When Cabanna first opened, the service was amazing, everyone was courteous, the food was served fast and tasted great. Not anymore. I went this past weekend, and first of all, without asking me, I was assigned a table outside. It was 100 degrees and they only had a couple of ceiling fans. Once I got assigned to my table, I asked the hostess if she could find us a table inside, and she said she would. After minutes of never hearing back from her, I asked the waiter the same thing and he said they had that under consideration. We never got a table inside. This time the service was horrible, very slow and I've been there other weekends. The hostess are usually nice but this is the second time they were not. The food was good, not that fresh, I had the quesito cabanna, my all time fav, and it did not disappointed me. Tiradito de salmon was amazing and the pizza wasn't that great. I asked for chipotle sauce and I waited 10 mins and I had to remind one of the "captains" (managers) to bring it to me. My drink was hot, I had to ask for more ice. Cabanna needs nicer staff, like the ones they used to have when they first started. read more

I am a constant flyer. This is the worst restaurant I ever been! This is my second time being in this restaurant but it has changed my thoughts about this place. The food is good except that it's not that fresh as my first visit. But the service is terrible!! It's so bad that I only tip few pesos. First, the reception gave us a nasty attitude. The waitress were not that friendly, and the managers have attitude too. We call for check after we finished all of the dishes and they came to clean up too. I waited about 30 minutes just for the check to come. We asked 3 waitress to bring us the check, but no one provided the service. Others table were getting the check but not us. We waited for so long that even others tables were done paying and left already. So we went straight to the manager, the first thing he said "what do you need?" in that nasty attitude (he spoke in English too, and we responded in Spanish). We told him that we waited 30 minutes for the check and he just said alright. No apologies. I would NOT recommend this place for anyone who speaks other language than Spanish because they treat you as "the others". If I could, I wouldn't even give a star to this place. read more
