During my retreat with my Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel Girls trip group of friends, we were able to get reservations here at the Long Shadow Restaurant. The restaurant is located in courtyard of the hotel. The dining is mostly outdoor in a wonderful outdoor courtyard and then there's some dining inside. They have large tables for groups and they have really nice decor and a rustic and farmhouse design element. This seems to be a "farm to table" restaurant. All of the ingredients tasted fresh and sourced locally. Our server was very nice. She was able to give us very good suggestions and answer any questions that we had about the menu. We ordered: Blue Corn Sopes, Mole Chicken, Wedge Salad with Steak added, Zataar Bowl with Chicken added, and 2 Poblano Burgers. They also have mocktails and I opted to have one, the "Afterglow". It's an outdoor patio so just be prepared because there are a lot of trees in the courtyard where you dining. There were several times when we saw cute little green bugs land on our hair or on our skin or on our clothing or on the table. Because we're in a really nice nature promoting environment, it added to our experience and was kind of nice. Also, there are many tables and there is the potential for several groups of people to also be dining around you. It makes the dining experience a lot more enjoyable because everybody's really having a good time talking and enjoying themselves and their groups. My poblano burger was delicious. I'm glad that I made that choice. I heard that: the wedge salad was also good, zataar bowl with chicken was ok, Blue Corn Sopes were ok, and the Mole Chicken was ok. I actually appreciated the freshness of the ingredients and that the food wasn't overpowering and super flavorful, but just right. At the end of the meal, for dessert, I ordered the cream puff with ice cream. Another person in our group ordered a vanilla latte. The cream puff was just ok. It had more of a biscuit texture instead of a fluffy and light cream puff texture. The homemade ice cream was ok. It was vanilla bean and it just was ok. We really enjoyed our dining experience here. Our server was outstanding and she was able to check on us very frequently just in case we missed anything. In this small town and probably all towns in the vicinity, this is definitely THE 5-star dining experience. I appreciated it and was happy to experience it. read more

Jacumba, Ca. Long Shadow is really quite the amazing place to visit not only because their food is superb, but also the casual outdoor desert ambiance. The food alone is five star worthy and it's a special treat to be able to be there and enjoy the experience. Ok, here is a summary of the dishes we tried: Chicken Quesadilla- this item is probably the most bang for your buck. It will fill you up for only $22. Not even on the same gourmet level as the other menu choices, nevertheless it is good. Fries- excellent non greasy and nicely cooked, with notes of potatoes. Fruit Bowl- very nice and refreshing fresh fruit chunks with surprise additions of jacima and cucumber that actually work! Avocado Toast-great bread, lots of nicely sliced perfectly ripe avocado, a good breakfast portion. Ricotta Toast- Great presentation as well as being a great breakfast. The Cara Cara Oranges on top really make this dish. Elote: No doubt, the best elote I've had. Exceeds the Mexican versions by leaps and bounds. Quesadilla Flor de Calabaza-Simply delicious and beautiful. The squash blossoms are very subtle but the other ingredients make for an exceptional dish. Watermelon Gazpacho- Really a burst of many flavors, this complex cold soup will not disappoint. An amazing way to start a meal. Pozole- I loved this soup. The hominy remains firm, and there is lots of pork shoulder in there. Imperial Caesar-This is a good variation of a true Caesar because the anchovy taste is carried forward by the bread crumbs. Great dressing, everything was fresh. French Toast- A fabulous creation that surprisingly was not too sweet. Beautiful presentation, marvelous flavors. Spring Vegetable Potato Hash- A hearty breakfast that features perfectly cooked buttered potato's, squash, peppers and onions with a side of avocado. Bacon- The bacon here is really good, it is thick and meaty with spot on taste and aroma. Steak and Eggs- You get a rather decent portion of their amazing steak. Eggs cooked perfect of course. Carnitas Tacos- A nice pool side snack, not very large but tasty. Guacamole- Another good pool side snack, their version is creative and very tasty. Chips were not greasy, thank you, Market Fish- Red Snapper was really well presented and quite delicious. A bit small for $55. Nicely spiced! Jacumba Ribeye- one of the best steaks I've had. Unexpected tenderness from a rib eye, on par with a loin steak. Flavor was amazing and very "Steak". Well trimmed, no fat or gristle. Poblano Burger- I would come back here just for this burger, it's right up there with the best of the premium burgers. Forget the trendy smash burger BS, this burger is an inch thick and cooked all the way through at a perfect medium, as I requested. The patty is juicy and very flavorful yet the bun hold up well to the end. The bun is also not overly fluffy, you get the taste of meat, not bread. I could not decide fries or salad so the server brought out both. Harissa Carrots- Wow, these are wonderful. I never thought I'd rave on about carrots but here we are. Served on a bed of delicious humus this dish is just outstanding. Fideo de Cameron-very nice sized shrimp that are excellent, accompanied by a great sauced pasta. Tabouleh- This serving brings forth new flavors to a typically boring side. Churraco Taco- Vanilla bean ice cream in a chocolate waffle taco. Creative and delicious. Profiterol- A delicious an beautiful version of a cream puff but so much more. Affogato- very good, but I would not order it unless the server is Richard. He knows how to use the espresso machine, apparently the others do not. Unless it is Richard DO NOT ORDER A LATTE! It will be weak and tasteless. The juices are fresh and carefully crafted, The zero proof drinks are all pretty awesome concoctions by the talented bar tender. Be sure to ask for a fly fan, we used two, you may need three. Long Shadow is an extremely vibey restauraunt tucked away in the Jacumba Hot Springs resort. Every dish we ordered was cooked perfectly, flavorful and hearty. We dined for breakfast, lunch and dinner (pictures were a combination of all throughout our stay) and didn't have one bad dish the entire time. It was very impressive considered this is a diamond in the rough and in the middle of nowhere - we were pleasantly surprised with the food! The staff is extremely friendly and hospitable, while the ambience is nothing but relaxing and trance-like. We ate at the bar because we arrived at 4 and the restaurant is closed 3-5. However, the bar still has a food menu, and the ambiance was so cool! Staff were very attentive, helpful, and kind. The food was DELICIOUS. We got the lamb meatballs and the burger. We did not have any alcoholic drinks, just water. No complaints about this place and I tend to have complaints about most things. Everything was so fresh and delicious! Kitchen was a bit slow and backed up, since the place was very popular and quite packed. We went at sunset time and there was about 10-15 min wait. There were outside seating which I would have preferred but I think they left those for people with reservations. Inside they put the AC way too high. And the bar was way too dark to have dinner, even though the hostess did say you can order food at the bar. It was just not an ambient to have dinner over. I can imagine it will be great for a date over drinks kinda vibe. Our server was so sweet, and even gave our birthday boy a free dessert: a gluten free banana bread which was divine. I love how there are dairy free and gluten free options here. The ingredients all felt fresh and well seasoned. Flavors were all on point. Except the shrimp dish I wouldn't order again. It lacked oomph, no depth, no texture, it was a boring dish. We got to see some live music next door after dinner under the stars which was so nice! My review is for the vegan options at Jacumba Hot Springs hotel(bar and restaurant). Their menu clearly mentioned vegan options or vegetarian options that can be made vegan and gluten free. It is amazing for in the middle of nowhere where there is no restaurant in general. The owners really thought it through providing options to hotel guests whether they are vegetarian, vegan, and/or gluten free. I have tried several dishes and they are all delicious. What we tried were for breakfast: Chia Pudding and fruit, Vegetable Hash with opting hummus(or Justegg), Breakfast Burrito with Justegg and no cheese. Chillaquiles (w Justegg) was available but we didn't try that. For lunch what we had was vegan Zaatar Bowl(gf) and ordered this 3 times. We didn't try the starters: Cauliflower Wings, Shishito Peppers, Elote(veganized version) or Mezze Board(veganized version) but we had chips and guacamole. There were also a vegan salad and a dinner entree Berber Tagine(gf) that we didn't try. We just don't eat a lot, especially, for dinner. But they are there for you. Desserts were available such as vegan ice cream, Affogato, and granitas which we didn't try. There are vegan cookies available at check in too and they are delicious! There are several vegan items that are included in Happy Hour food prices from 3-5 pm. Staff really is accommodating. It takes 30 minutes to 1 hour to get to San Diego area where vegan food is available so this is really really nice! read more

The food here is pretty good. When I first arrived on Monday, I ordered guacamole by the pool for $13. For happy hours you need to go to the bar. On Tuesdays they have happy hour all day, but the other weekdays the happy hours from 3 PM until 5 PM. I ordered the guacamole again and it was only $8. They also have drink specials--I had a mezcal margarita for just $10, and it was delicious. Breakfast was okay. I had the Highway 80 breakfast with watermelon juice. The eggs came out a bit overcooked for my taste, even though I asked for them softly scrambled, but the bacon was perfectly crispy. The potatoes were fine, though not very seasoned (ketchup was provided). It also came with some fresh greens, and the salsa really elevated the eggs. My friend had the French toast and absolutely loved it. One thing to note: there are a lot of bees and flies around the outdoor seating area. They provide small devices for the table to help keep them away, but they didn't work very well. The good news is they also have indoor seating, and for the outdoor patio they run misters during the day, which makes it much more comfortable in the summer heat. The staff were consistently warm and friendly, and overall I'd definitely recommend eating at the restaurant here. read more

Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel has out done itself in inviting a star guest chef to show off his unique culinary expression. This may be the seminal initiation of placing Jacumba on one of the must go culinary centers of San Diego county. Addison, beware. The Cucina Rustica pop up dinner was memorable which I will photo document instead of explaining each satisfying dish. The noted wine pairing was exclusively served by Lomita Winery from Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California del Norte. What impressed me the most is the hospitality & warm welcome extended by the friendly staff. At the conclusion of dinner at the Caravan Lounge, I asked if I could soak my feet at their medicinal, sulfur Ritual Pool and was afforded permission with a resounding Yes by the General Manager. While I had my feet in the warm, healing waters, one very thoughtful lady employee, who also served at the dinner gave me a plush towel to dry my feet. I very much appreciated that kind gesture. I will place her photo first & foremost in the photo below. Unfortunately, by the time I made reservation for this Pop Up dinner, Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel was all booked up. It is always a leasure to dine at the restaurant located within the jacumba Hot Springs Hotel. It does not have a specific name to my understaning, but is simply referred to as "the dining room". Parking is in front of the facility. or there is also a parking lot to the west of the establishment. You enter to some old carved wood gates that are very beautiful. The door of tehthe dining room is straight ahead. The interior of the dining room has about ten tables, but there is also a large patio just outside with tables and umbrellas, so you are never in the full desert sun. We usually dine inside rather than on the patio. Inside, one wall is covered with interesting paintings from different eras. You can sit either on the banquettes that run along one wall, of at the free standing tables. We like the Moraccan Lamb Meat Balls and the Fish du jour. Great place to enjoy a nice dinner, brunch or breakfast. We stayed at Jamcumba Springs and enjoyed a few meals. For dinner we order the steak but it did take about 45 minutes to get our order. I understand they make it to perfection but there was only only waitress that day and most orders were taking a while. The food is really good and breakfast over did it. We stayed at the Jacumba Hot Springs hotel in a private casita for two nights. Included in our room was a $50 food and beverage credit that we used during happy hour. We love the ambience of this restaurant it is very atmospheric dark and with lots of cool decorations. We were lucky enough to snag a booth it is pretty busy during their happy hour from three to 5 o'clock. We enjoyed a couple of the house margaritas which were delicious and strong. We also ordered guacamole and Elote. It was the first time either of us had had elite And it was absolutely delicious. They slather it in some awesome sauce and sprinkle a little bit of cheese on it it's really really good. Will be back to visit again and hope to return to this restaurant as we had a great experience there. read more

What a gem! ABSOLUTELY love this +21 up property. No shade on parenthood, because we are proud parents of our kid... but, knowing there are local getaways to cater to adults- is top notch. If you don't follow Jacumba Hot Springs on IG- do it! It's a one stop shop staying here! Bars and restaurant on site. Sage Market a block away for any other needs you'd want. The reason I did knock a star is because I have a habit of watching current events on tv. No tv's or microwaves or coffee pots in rooms. I'm a very early riser- 4:30am is pushing it. Coffee cart is available at 7am near the Changing Rooms. When the website subs "desert oasis"- they mean it. I swear, if I won the lotto- I could totally create this vibe at home. LOL. The main mineral pool and Echo Room (hot tub) is also utilized for day passers. However, there's going to be an additional mineral pool opening up in a few weeks- strictly for hotel guests. Which is awesome also! Cabanas are $250 (not including tax/ food). Can host up to 12 people for two time frames- day or sunset times. There are PLENTY of outdoor seating areas on site to accommodate patrons to spread themselves out. Friday & Saturday nights have a DJ spinning in the bar area. And the Old Bathhouse, a block away is used for live performances! read more

The service was great with friendly staff. Although the presentation of the food is fantastic, sometimes the taste missed the mark. Here's a recap of the food during our time here... Breakfast: Omelette: Good, although I wish they had an option to add ham for more protein. The potatoes were nice as well. Drinks: Bloody Mar(ia) - I order mine with Tequila instead of Vodka. Moon of the Religion: Gin drink was very light and refreshing. Fresca-Rita: Tasty. Levitation: Just "alright" according to my boyfriend. Starters/Appetizers: Shishito Peppers: the lime aioli is what gives it the flavor, otherwise the peppers themselves would be a little underwhelming. Elote (corn): Delicious! Served with 3 half cobs. I would order this again. Imperial Caesar: Not a traditional Caesar salad or near resembling it, but delicious and fresh nonetheless. Generous portion big enough to share as a starter although I would add meat if eating it as a meal. Dinner: Mole Chicken: Good mole is hard to come by. Unfortunately they missed the mark here. The sauce was too thin and not sweet enough. The chicken was cooked perfectly, but the mole was nothing like I know great mole can be. For that reason I would skip this and the Chilaquiles too. Poblano Burger: Great! I would get this again. The fries that come with it were good too. Jacumba Rib Eye: It's the star of their menu, hands down! Pricey, but worth it. Buttery, tender, and massive. My boyfriend and I split this between us with a bunch of appetizers to share. You could buy 4 starters or salads for less than the 1 steak so it made sense for us to order it that way so we could try many things at once. read more

We came here on a lark, on our way back to San Diego from Mexicali. We had a thought to check out the resort and then decided to try the best (perhaps only?) restaurant in town. We were quite pleasantly surprised. They have a solid wine list, including a great, by-the-glass Argentine Malbec, and good selection of draft beer, including (rarely) a stout among all the IPAs. The caesar salad was well prepared, with the chicken especially well marinated. The lamb burger was also nicely done as was the side of fries. Hats off to this surprise we've probably passed a hundred times. read more

This property is incredible. Unique and funky, yet very high quality design. The rooms are well appointed and it even had a comfortable bed. The food and drinks were also great. Seat down 6:35 pm, it's 7: 45 pm and counting nothing, the waiter came in took our order but everyone else that came before us got there drunks food but still waiting, maybe because I was the single color person there, I guess I didn't matter my money is not green enough.
