Start with the good: Beef Lo Mein was fantastic. Fried rice was very good. Sweet and sour sauce is very tasty. It's homemade, and not that bright red, sickeningly sweet gel most places have. Now the not so good: Egg rolls and Sweet and Sour Pork both had nice flavor, but were undercooked. Don't know if the frier temp was too low, or they pulled them out too soon, but they were soft and mushy. Might just be an off day. I'll try them again and see if they are better. read more

It had too much breading on them and was bland. The staff are very welcoming and the establishment is nice and clean. Prices are affordable for the portions. Out of curiosity today, I tried a wonderful little restaurant in South St. Paul. I door dash past it every day I to get to the Hong Kong restaurant that is open late for delivery. Wong's Kitchen used to be a Sandwich Shop not too long ago. It is Asian food. Much to my surprise but I roll with it. I tried the egg rolls and Szechuan special. They didn't have much of anything to drink but I did hear her say they have natural coconuts that they would open for me. I'm like ok let's do it. My first time trying it. I'm glad I did. Refreshing after the spicy chicken and beef dish. If they were ever struggling, I couldn't tell. Very good food and all this for $28. If you ever are in the area, give them a try. General Tso's chicken.... Not good... flavor was off... no spice... not crispy... chicken was maybe in the freezer too long? Dumplings... were good.., they were steamed, which I prefer. Ok ok ok, I can admit when I was wrong. After having ordered from here 3 times in the last month, the food here is good. For $20 I get more food than I know what to do with. No, it's not gourmet or traditional Chinese food, but for being American Chinese food and what it cost plush how quickly it's ready and good customer service. It's 4 starts. This place wasn't amazing or anything, but for $8 and being 3 blocks from my house, it really was not bad at all. I ordered shrimp Lo Mein. The shrimp were just little salad shrimp, but there were plenty of them. In addition to the noodles and shrimp, there were onions, mushrooms and green onions. More veggies would have been nice, but like I said, $8. It was greasy like normal inexpensive Chinese usually is. The flavor was pretty good. The service was excellent and the very best part?? The take out came in a traditional paper box and was packaged in a brown paper bag! No plastic or polystyrene!! Yay!!! I complimented the very sweet lady and I encourage you to do so as well. Worst absolute customer service. I parked outside, ordered food, sat down in my car to eat and the owner came out and demanded that I leave immediately. I asked her what the problem was and she said she hates it when people park outside of her restaurant. There was no where to sit inside and to top it off this was public street parking. She was so rude she barged outside threatening to call the police, I'm sitting here scarfing down subpar, old reheated chicken fried rice and wings thinking first you take my money and now you ruin my lunch break? I may be from NorCal, Yay Area, the SCO, SFC for life. But!! I really love my new home on Saint Paul's East Side. I've been here a little while now and I am making local rounds. My closest Chinese take-out joint is Wong's kitchen. They keep it cheap, straight forward, salty yummy on the tummy and simple. The night I went in there was only one table with a chair leading me to believe most of their business is take out. They are quick and friendly. Food makes for great lunch leftovers. I will begin by saying that Wong's is nothing fancy. I have ordered from here many times and every time has been great. I have received a very accurate order, good customer service, and always ready when they say it will be (usually within 10 minutes.) Their menu is front and center on our fridge because we use it 2-3 times a month. Tips: Know what you want when you order. There is a language/communication barrier so I am always short and to the point. Broccoli and beef is awesome, easily one of the best I have had. Wong's is take out only. Don't expect to show up and get a table. In summary: Quick, quality food at very reasonable prices. read more

lived here about 20 years and eaten numerous meals from Wongs. They are not overly exciting entrees but a good family dinner in a fairly quick time. I like their fried rice, but be sure to order the large or it comes in a pint. Wong's is a good neighbor. read more

Small take out place. Had 2 small tables and 4 chairs inside if you wanted to "eat-in". I called in to order around 1:30pm. The chicken wings I ordered were heavily coated in breading and one was not fully cooked as it still oozed blood. Two of the chicken wings looked like nuggets, but turned out to be a cut drummet. The chicken w/ garlic sauce was good and was the most flavorful of the two. My only complaint was that the chicken was cut into large chunks. Mandarin Beef was meh. Had no flavor. A great value stop. I can't try and act like it was the best Chinese food I've ever had, because it wasn't, but it's definitely up there in terms of value. I really, really like this place because it's cheap, delicious, and feels like the movies! So the first time I came here(2009) I was wary of this place because it looked dirty and etc. But when I went in it was nice and looked like the typical Chinese take out in the movies! So I usually order #4 (fried rice sweet and sour chicken) I also recommend getting your food spicy, and although it's oily like every other authentic Chinese it's SOOOO GOOD.
