Reviewing a management company is a bit like evaluating a car dealership, there is a tainted…read moreindustry presumption they are all deceitful, so you are wary to believe or trust them, or rely upon the truthfulness of online commentary and referrals. So, it is important to acknowledge and appreciate exceptions of excellent service and reliability; praising individuals who show competency and pride in their job duties, along with respect, courtesy, and value in their interactions. VNYPM has proven themselves to be this anomaly, deviating from low expectations by restoring confidence and care, rather than sustaining doubt and apathy. As a shareholder for nearly 20 years, in a Pre-War Queens Co-op building, my comparative observations about the detached, duplicitous, ineffective multiple management companies, and unqualified absent Supers I have had the misfortune to witness; have been transformed by Anes with his conscientious responsive team. Especially outstanding, Amy with her diligence, kindness, and delightful sense of humor; and, Izeta with her empathy, flexibility, and trustworthiness. Anes, one of the owners, is accessible via email or phone, and has responded promptly with genuine concern and diplomacy to any urgent matter I have had, particularly health related required accommodations. Thanks to Anes employing Neoly, we finally have a professionally skilled, and dependable live-in Super, who is attentive, friendly, and hard-working. When VNYPM was hired several years ago by our newly elected board, they took over a huge mess; from financial debt and instability, to prior mismanagement negligence, a mendacious incapable Super arduous to fire, and many complicated major repair and maintenance issues. Throw in a pandemic, which created complex and combative lockdown and safety issues to navigate, and additional financial strain on the residents and building. Because of the smart guidance and leadership of VNYPM, and their recommendations and partnership to the Board, it is really remarkable we are now in the best financial shape this building has ever been in, with visible improvements of a modernized elevator, and demolition and installation of tiled stones to our expansive exterior entrance. Looking forward to seeing the interior painting started, and floor cleaning finished, which will make all the difference to re-establish its faded glory, Every building's situation and priorities are different, but they all have the same management needs for dedication, responsibility, accountability, consistency, transparency, prompt honest communication, and decisive action. Management companies are being hired for their expertise, but, let's not forget they work for us, even though they are managing us! VNYPM shows an understanding of this reciprocal relationship, and how properly servicing these demands guarantees mutual success and stability for them, and our residential buildings. VNYPM is receptive to suggestions to what they could do differently or better so they can continue to grow and learn, efficiently problem-solve, and provide the highest client satisfaction. This open readiness to listen, is a significant distinction for me. I applaud VNYPM's willingness to think outside the box, and knowing when to compromise wisely. They offer creative innovative solutions, using only limited available resources, that realize the individualized vision for each building. This makes them uniquely qualified in my estimation, as they are both frugal, and inventive. Hope my positive review provides clarity in your consideration of VNYPM to manage your property. I was meeting with brokers off of craigslist, yelp reviews and other realty websites. I found a considerable difference in the apartments they were showing me and the ones they had listed. Everyone had something that was just a bit off. Maybe it was smelly, maybe it was very small, electric heat etc. I also decided to get a roommate to help save money on rent. Everything was crazy UNTIL I MET CHRIS! I realize that when you look at a place with a broker there a few givens everyone lets slide. I can be forgiving about your punctuality, I'm cool with asking a lot of questions about how I live (pets, job etc.) before I see the place - I am even cool with you asking about my credit score. However - there are a few real estate sins I NEVER EXPERIENCED WITH CHRIS. 1.) Chris never made me feel guilty about which socio-economic class I'm from. We all know that rent is higher than ever in Astoria and it hurts. You're looking at a one bedroom conservatively around 1800. Chris showed me apartments that were nice, well kept in a building not a basement and even offered two options. Never did Chris say "This is what you get for your money here *eyeroll- pressure - pressure" When I found the listing for the reality company online through shmeet shmezy* Chris was very easy to talk with on the phone and via text. Chris never made me feel uncomfortable about my credit score or my income. He just helped us 2.) Sometimes before you see an apartment and get to the address you've been researching the broker will make you go across town, sign a form and fill out your bs before even seeing a place. This is a stupid and wasteful activity. Chris does not do this. Chris brought us right up to see the apartments in question. 3.) Chris never applied pressure. There are so many broker and only so many apartments. It makes sense that people feel the pressure because they want the turn over. Thats fine. However, one broker was texting me up to a week after I had already given him the Hell no. Chris was very relaxed and easy going and made the process very comfortable. Bottom Line - Chris from Alma Realty was one of the nicest and most professional brokers I have ever worked with. I can't wait to move into my new apartment and enjoy living back in Astoria. Good luck and I hope you find this review useful in your search for an apartment!

Terrible experience with this company. They listed an apartment for 2500. After applying it took…read morethem a week to respond. The realtor came back and said they approved me but now wanted 2950 because they were adding a washer/dryer. I refused as I might as well pay for a delivery service for 10% of the cost. 1 week later they come back saying they changed their mind and were now offering for 2600 With no washer/dryer. I eventually caved because I liked the neighborhood (Apt was a bit rundown but I was willing to suck it up). Then the realtor says they approved me for the second floor apartment that is identical to the one I saw instead. I asked when I could view and they said the tenant refused. But the realtor said mgmt was amazing and you can trust them. My spidey sense was going off full alarm bells. No way am I signing with no viewing with these folks. Now reading the reviews I'm so glad I ran! I will watch out for Alma Realty at all costs.

Working with him and the landlord was a solid, positive experience. The whole process went quickly and smoothly. They work with many types of landlords who have their own way of doing things. As my fiancé was going through cancer treatments, her/our living requirements and situation changed dramatically. Of the FIVE Astoria realtors I called, emailed, and filled out forms for, Jenny is the only one who reached out to me. I know the dead of winter isn't the best time to look for a place but... She showed me a couple places I wasn't wild about but then we walked to the other end of the neighborhood to check out one that wasn't on the market yet due to renovations. We met the building owner that day. I signed a lease soon after, and she was there helping throughout the entire process! Highly recommended!

I met with Jenny during a recent apartment search, which was in the first week of the month (specifically, we met on the 3rd). I was seeking an apartment for the following month. After showing me one apartment that I didn't love, I felt like she pressured me to like it more -- telling me how perfect the landlords were, how I wouldn't find anything else like it, harping on features that ultimately didn't matter to me. It was incredibly awkward, and I found myself repeating that it's simply a matter of preference. It turned out that this was one of two apartments she had available at the time; the other was in a completely different location than where I had wanted. After this, she told me that I had started my search for an apartment too late, and that most apartments for the following month were already rented by now. As someone that was needing to find an apartment during the busy summer season, this was a stressful thing to hear. I ended up quickly finding an apartment with the next broker I met with. More importantly, though, were the vast number of apartments that became available throughout the week and the month. (Of course it wasn't too late to find a place on the 3rd, how could I have believed this?) While I don't like writing negative reviews of people in the neighborhood, I'm posting this in hopes that anyone with a similar experience will take it with a grain of salt. There are so many apartments in Astoria and in NYC overall. Don't let anyone rush your search. An apartment is a personal and important decision. And most importantly: your options are not constrained, regardless of what you're told.
