Last minute plan for restaurant week and it's my first time here. We got the Cajun frog leg, duck breast and banana bourbon for dessert. The frog leg was tender and juicy but a little bland. The aesthetic inside is very nice. Perfect place for a date. We got the mustard pickled eggs for an appetizer and it was good but I'd go with the bread & butter next time. Our most recent meal at Wolf's Ridge was excellent. My wife has strict dietary requirements that limit where we can dine out. That was February. We were planning to visit last night until we saw the new menu online. I was shocked, as anyone would be who has eaten here even within the last year. I called multiple times prior to our reservation hoping it was a mistake. Two separate employees explained with the same boilerplate response that the restaurant "would like to get back to fine dining" but blamed the current state of affairs on staff shortages and supply chain problems. We had a lovely meal at The Crest in Clintonville instead. How many stars is that worth to WR? Wolf's Ridge is a special place for us. We had our first date here in 2017 and married two years later. I want so badly for this restaurant to live up to its reputation. But it is so difficult to support the operation when there is no consistency. The website lists many accolades. The most recent is from 2018. In a couple of months that will be four years gone by. Pictures on the site show exqusitie-looking dishes with fish and chops. Yesterday's menu featured burgers and mac and cheese. Never once have we ordered these things at an establishment touting itself as "best restaurant in Columbus." Well, your secret is out, WR. It may get buried by years of glowing reviews and Yelp's ranking algorithm before it helps anyone avoid the disappointment we barely dodged last night, but if there's anyone out there who truly cares about this place, I hope this finds you, and if you can do something about it, I hope you can bring us back to the old WR. Had an excellent night last night having a dinner with a group of people here. The ambiance was warm, the decor was inviting, and the staff were attentive. They have seasonal menu which changes on occasion. The changes are to drinks, brunch, and dinner. I had the ribeye which was flawless. Cooked a perfect medium rare with a delegate Demi glaze. Instead of fingerling potatoes (trying to cut the carbs out) I got the mushrooms. They lacked in flavor and were mostly there for appearance. The broccoli rob was cooked well, but also needed some seasoning. Again, the steak was great, but coming in at $38 I'm not entirely sure it was worth it. My partner then got the halibut which was cooked well, but a somewhat small portion for the price. Seasoned relatively well. One other point, we had reservations for 7:30 and had to wait a little while due to our table having some stragglers sitting at it. While it wasn't entirely the fault of the staff, a little effort could have been made to push them along since they had paid and were just socializing. Since we had a larger group, we couldn't just be seated anywhere else. Final note, I've been here a few times for brunch and this place knocks it out of the park for it. Highly recommend. read more

A really fun brewery and I found one of my favorite beers ever here. We only enjoyed beers during our visit, but we walked through the restaurant and the food looked amazing. I'd love to return for dinner too. The brewery is at the back of the building. Clearly a popular spot, it was busy even on a Tuesday night. There are about half a dozen long picnic tables, bar seating, and bar style seating along two of the sides of the room. The service was friendly and attentive. We were greeted right away, but not rushed when we needed time to decide. The bartender chatted with us a bit about our beers and he seemed knowledgeable about the beers. I went with a flight so I could try a variety. My flight choices were Creamsicle, Basil Driftwood, and Bourbon Barrel All The Breakfast. My favorite by far was the BB All The Breakfast. I love bourbon and enjoyed this beer that was like drinking a bourbon. They took the bourbon flavor and made it into a drink that could be enjoyed in larger quantities. The maple flavor was also a main flavor. Basil Driftwood was good and they didn't hold back on the basil flavor. It's not just a hint of basil. Creamsicle was smooth and well flavored too. The duck was very good. Pretzel dumplings were not, and neither was the pork cheek pot pie. Soukraut is too overwhelming in every dish they use it in. Bartender was friendly but inattentive...we went on a Tuesday night and it was dead (only 1 other patron and us at the bar) so there was zero excuse for inattentive service....no 2-bite check, had to ask for drink refill. Heartlandia is the beer that converted me to being a fan. My first experience with Wolf's Ridge was at a tasting event at PINS. They served a couple beers that weren't really my jam and I avoided Wolf's Ridge for a while worried that I wouldn't like anything else. But after hearing so many positive reviews about their food (and their beer) I decided to give them another chance. This was a little before COVID, but we checked out their spot for a drink. It was inviting, fun, and smelled wonderful. We were getting ale trail stamps so I didn't get to try any food. I also tried a gose of theirs at one of my regular bars (ah, remember when going to bars was fun?) and it was delicious. I knew I needed to change my opinion and hop on the WR train. Since lockdown, I've been ordering cans to check out more options. I'm on a lager kick and I love that Heartlandia is super local to Ohio and tastes amazing. Wolf's Ridge Brewing actually has 2 entirely separate venues at this location-- The Dining Room and The Taproom. First, I would like to point out that Yelp is doing Wolf's Ridge a great disservice by lumping these two venues together under one listing because the Dining Room and the Taproom are VERY different. The Dining Room: Upscale dining with entrees in the $20~$35/plate range. Reservations available on OpenTable. The Taproom: Pub fare with entrees in the $15/plate range. Bench seating. Reservations NOT available. Occasionally closed for private events. Even though they share the same building, the Dining Room and the Taproom do not share the same phone number. It's questionable whether they even communicate with each other. We found this out the hard way one day when my wife called ahead to confirm that the Taproom is open, and was told that they are (by who it turned out to be the hostess at the Dining Room). We drove all the way downtown... and lo and behold, the Taproom was closed for an event. The Taproom website does have a list of private event closings, so you'd be better served checking online than by calling. Also, even though they share the same building, the Dining Room and the Taproom do not share a kitchen. So you can't sit in the Dining Room and order from the Taproom menu. So another time when I made reservation for the Dining Room on OpenTable but my wife ended up looking at the Taproom menu online instead and found a dish that she really wanted to try... well the Dining Room wouldn't let us order that Taproom dish, so we ended up having to go to the Taproom instead. SO CONFUSING! Otherwise though, we love their food and their beer. I just wish the Taproom and the Dining Room can be listed separately so that I can give them appropriate, separate reviews. read more

Tl;dr - i loooove the ambience. unique dishes. great service. The interior of this restaurant is very welcoming. We came here on a brighter day (for winter) and found the space refreshing and soothing, with wooden tables lined up throughout and pink/purple tulips on every table. Our waitress was friendly and helpful -- we asked for recommendations for a flight of beers and she happily surprised us with their most popular flavors. As for the food, the dishes are unique, but nothing extraordinary. The mushroom tartine was fantastic -- I would get this dish again. On the other hand, the chicken sandwich was enjoyable, but nothing notable. I will note that this place can get pricey, but reasonably so. I would absolutely come back here for the ambience of the restaurant (soft, relaxed, light). I will be back to try some brunch + dinner menu items and am looking forward to my next visit! read more

We went to Wolf's Ridge late on a Saturday night to try their beers. I have only tried their brews once before at a local Brew Dog; they had a special edition bottle called "Cinnamon Toast Brunch" and it was a sheer delight. This is what drew us into trying the actual brewery. To our disappoint, they were sold out of this beer (and so is everyone else apparently...I was told they brew it twice a year). The beers that we had were good; I absolutely adored the coconut cream ale. It had a hint of summer to it, but it didn't taste like chemicals or like tanning lotion. Some of the stouts were a bit too dark and bitter for my taste, but they may suit others. We didn't eat, since we had dined at Pat and Gracie's down the street earlier that evening. I thought the prices on their food (in the taproom) were a bit high for the offerings (sandwiches and wings). I don't know if I would go out of my way to try the food in the future. read more

I have been to the tap room several times but this was my first time in the dining room. The atmosphere is upscale but not formal. I was impressed with the menu....definitely not what you expect at a brewery. For starters I had the tuna tartar and the beef tartar. I thoroughly enjoyed the tuna tartar. The beef tartar was a bit over done on the presentation but rated great. Don't hesitate to ask your server for explanations on the menu...I learned a lot from my server as she was very knowledgeable and had recommendations as well. For an entree (large plate) I had the beef tenderloin. It was excellent....they really nailed it wit the inclusion of the egg yolk jam. It is money for all beef lovers. Afterwards I went to the tap room for a couple fresh droughts....I had the Oktoberfest and their smoked lager. Both were excellent and represented the tap room well. I have only one complaint. There were no Direwolf or it's derivatives on tap in the tap room. It's far and away my favorite beer in Cbus and why I hit up the tap room. If that's the new norm....I'll be decreasing the frequency of my visits. read more

It pains me to leave them a poor review because this was one of my favorite places in Columbus and definitely one of the best breweries in this city. These brewers know what they're doing. This is beer for beer people. Their flavoring is always perfect. There's a reason they win so many awards. And their restaurant is also high quality. A little pricey, but great for special occasions, and an exceptional brunch. My problem is with the taproom. The taproom is a more casual vibe, but the prices for food are insane. The hot pretzel is $15. The burger is $16. SIXTEEN DOLLARS! It does not include a side, so fries are $7 extra. The food is nowhere near THAT good. It's an average burger, and there are way better burgers in this city for half the price. You're a chump if you're grabbing food in the taproom. It's a real shame because I would love to bring more people here to taste how good this beer is, but it's hard to ask people to come here for a just a beer when parking is also tricky in this part of town. Service is always great though. The employees are very knowledgeable and friendly. I really wish they would reimagine their taproom menu to be more approachable and realistic, because right now they're being outperformed by every other brewery in town. My wife and I came here on a hot but quiet Sunday morning. The place was packed but we got a seat quickly. The wait for the server to come was the only low light. The servers average about ten tattoos and three visible piercings but they seemed nice. We had a few of the session IPA's and each had the Eggs Benedict. The food came really fast and the eggs were cooked perfectly, which somehow seem rare these days. The bread, ham, and hollandaise were all perfect. They add micro greens which were actually not a good compliment to the dish but I just pushed them aside. I will definitely be back. read more

Wolf's Ridge was hands-down the best meal I had during a weekend trip to Columbus. My friend had purchased a beer tasting and brewery tour package at a silent charity auction, so we decided to get brunch before our tour, and I'm so glad we did. We had made a reservation on a Sunday morning, which we were grateful for as there was a line of customers waiting. The dining area is decorated with modern lights and a planter built into the wall and feels open and inviting. We were seated quickly, and our overall service was courteous and speedy. We started with their pumpkin pie donuts which were incredible; they were delightfully light and brushed with cinnamon sugar, served with a spiced pumpkin butter and vanilla whipped cream. For our meals, I was in the mood for something that felt a bit healthier, so I opted for their kale and brussels sprouts salad, which was loaded with veggies along with bacon and fried cheese curds with a maple dressing. This was one of the best salads I've had in a long time --- just a delicious combination. My friend ordered the Toad in the Hole, made with perfect brioche over crispy hash-browns and served with a cheese sauce. After our incredible brunch, we headed downstairs and were given a tour led by Steven. As of recently, they're offering timed tours on Sunday, which is apparently a new offering and one other couple joined us. It's really impressive how much Wolf's Ridge is doing with a very limited space, and our guide was very knowledgable about the ins-and-outs of brewing. Despite going on plenty of brewery tours in the past, I still felt like I learned something. Now --- for the beers. I had the opportunity to try a LOT of their beers, as I had a pint with brunch and then was given a pint for the tour as a part of our tasting/tour package, and THEN we each got a flight. The bartenders and their sales manager, Jenna, were very helpful in narrowing our choices. I'm a sour beer kinda girl and LOVED their sour offerings, which included the Golden Saucer (Pineapple Berliner, which is more sour than sweet), TDS Blue (a lemony sour), and TDS Tropical (made with passion fruit and mango). I also really enjoyed their Coconut Cream Ale with my brunch, which was a light beer that really tasted like coconut cream pie. Their Daybreak (coffee vanilla cream ale --- a light coffee beer) and Wolf Claw (Rocky Road Stout) were delicious as well. The Buchenrauch is also a unique, smoky beer unlike anything I've tried at other craft breweries (in a good way!). I honestly don't think I had a single beer that I didn't like. My biggest complaint? That there's no Philly location. Absolutely love what you're doing, Wolf's Ridge, and can't wait to get back again someday. read more

I really liked the beer here! There were so many options - there is a taproom menu and a growler (to-go) menu that was different. To try a to-go beer, you can buy it but have to pay a corkage fee to drink it inside. I opted for a taster set - there were 3 or 5. I had to try 5: Clear Sky: cream ale Beyond Measure: Belgian witbier Ridge Trail: pale ale L'abondance: saison Earthrise East: IPA infused with basil, lemongrass, and chili I was pleasantly surprised with all of them. I really enjoyed them but thought the Ridge Trail was my least favorite. I asked the server how to buy the beer outside of the brewery - she said it is only in an 80 mile radius of Columbus. That was a bummer! I would definitely have been a repeat customer but I will have to return to Ohio for more. My favorite of the five is the Clear Sky..it was nutty, refreshing, and easy to drink. A casual upscale encounter. We have been meaning to come here for quite some time. My partner loves wolf's ridge brews and we both love food, so it seemed like the move. We went in for dinner tonight around 6pm (with a reservation through OneTable) to celebrate a birthday. We probably could have easily walked in at the time we arrived (it was Sunday btw) but in my experience every other time we have tried to eat in the dining room all their tables are booked up. The restaurant is nice with lots of natural light coming in the front windows. We got a seat right on the windows (score) and were approached immediately with water and an update on the specials. I saw casual upscale because while this is definitely a laid back place (dressy casual) it is also pricey. One of the specials was a unique cut of steak that was running for $100 a plate, which I mean if you can afford that without blinking an eye, good for you -- you should go for it because it sounded fantastic! We ordered a small plate (bread and butter) -- the bread came out a WEE bit on the crispy side, but it was still wonderful. The butter was made with caramelized onions and was to die for. My partner ordered the Howlin' Tail which he raved about. We also ordered the salmon and beef tenderloin. The salmon was cooked perfectly and was full of flavor. The sauces/ puree on the dish were perfect compliments to it. The beef tenderloin was so soft my partner was able to cut it with a butter knife... so so good. Throughout the entire meal the waiter was attentive, along with a floater that came by and grabbed empty plates and filled water frequently. Beware the CANS of beer are possibly the most overpriced beer in the country. $16 for a 4-pack is sticker shock to say the least. The quality of the beer may be above average for the area, but compared to Cincinnati, the Craft beer capital of Ohio, it isn't nearly as good as 90% of the breweries there. Wolf's ridge has become one of my go to restaurant's in Cbus whenever I have company in town. Their menu is eclectic and always has a meal for everyone to enjoy between the main dining or tap room. WR's dinner and brunch menus are both fantastic! And let's not forget about the beer... they have many different types from dark, light and sweet. Definitely a great place for my beer lovers out there. For the not so beer lovers (lol) this is a great place to try out some beer as they have many different flavors and you can sample them via flights. We used to love this place. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. We learned of their new tapas style menu when we arrived. $95 later, we were left unimpressed and hungry. The kitchen struggled to keep up with the new menu and even with our food being split up into courses we found ourselves waiting over thirty minutes between each, let alone waiting 20 minutes to order after arriving. We had bread and butter ($10 for a few slices of bread and smoky butter LOL), scallops (the best dish all night), lamb shank (off the bone and rather underwhelming, and the brussel sprouts were spread apart. If you combined the leaves it would only make one brussel sprout), and pork tenderloin (pork was fine, roasted parsnips were undercooked, with the star of the plate being sweet potato chips).
