This is a review specific to the self proclaimed manager working at this location. Lunch apparently ends at 3 pm (no signs at the door or door being locked to make that clear). We arrived 4 minutes late. The lovely lady at the front happily welcomed us and was willing to get us a seat and serve us, as we were excited to try the restaurant out. Out of nowhere, the self proclaimed manager, who I think was really just the bartender, stepped in to SAVE THE DAY, saying they won't seat us because it's a new restaurant and they have strict policy with service and testing their menu items. No clue what he was talking about but it came off extremely entitled and rude. Talk about a great way to steer off potential customers looking to try one of Wolfgang's new restaurants. Me and some friends walked in and we were refused service. We were former employees but for a restaurant that is always empty you'd expect them to want the business. Mark the "GM" refused us service. The staff was nice. Jose the bartender was kind and helpful but mark refused to help us at all without any reason. The steaks are great but to be honest the rest of the menu is horrible. This was our first time eating at Wolfgang's Steakhouse in the Shops at Wailea and it was an extremely enjoyable experience where we would definitely dine here again. Our sever Dominic provided the most amazing dining experience for my family and I. Morgan who was assisting him was really awesome as well and provided us with the same quality customer service. We really enjoyed how the staff worked together to bring us our food, drinks, and desserts. The manager was super attentive as he checked on us to make sure we were being well taken care of. The ambiance was pleasant and very comfortable. The food was well prepared and everything (main dishes, side dishes, and dessert) we ordered was delicious!!! They provide large portions and what made it unique was allowing everything to be family style for each dish, but you could also choose to not do family style as well. We frequent Maui often and this by far will become our new fav. Hopefully this will help promote the restaurant for more people to go out and try Wolfgang's Steakhouse. What could be improved? Everything. As a regular at the Beverly Hills location and other locations this one by far had very sub par service. Sat at the bar and it felt like an imposition to the bartender that I was there. Just not a very warm, welcoming or friendly environment. There are other options on Maui and this will be my first and last time here. Learn to smile, even though we're not regulars we also matter. Wolfgang's is very inconsistent. The food the first time I went was great, but after placing our order for 3 desserts we were informed they were completely out of chocolate and therefor could not make any desserts but the cheesecake. The cheesecake was quite good but not what we had ordered. Seeing as the food had ordered and received been great, we decided to try again. The following times were met with similar disappointments, ordering from the menu and waiting just for 10 mins later someone to come inform us they are completely out of whatever the dish may be. I had never heard of a fresh catch of the day being sold out by 2pm when there were only 3 other tables seated or for the lamb chop, which is raved about to be one of the best on the menu, being sold out by 530pm. I was able to try the lamb (first time), salmon, and fresh catch. The fish options I felt were fine but not terribly exciting or to the caliber i expected. I was not ever able to try any desserts beyond the cheesecake from the first time. I am not one for dry aged steaks so seeing the other options on the menu inconsistent as well as the quality of the meal when subbed with other dishes was rather disappointing when considering the price of the entire menu. In contrast, the service across the board has been great. I truly felt bad for our servers who had to inform us every time of something else unfortunate. Overall, I hope this restaurant can improve on its dishes. It is beautiful inside but being in view of their competition steak house (Ruth's Chris) is difficult. I do feel as though this was reflected in the amount of tables. read more

We got a $50 gift card from the Shops and took a chance on Wolfgang's. I'm from NY and have been to Peter Luger's many times and was interested to learn that the owner used to work there. We came just as they opened. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent and my husband declared his ribeye perfect! I had the catch of the day (Mahi mahi) which was delicious. We decided to try this place out as I had a hankering for a steak. Staff nice enough ambiance is fancy, almost too fancy for Maui. Food: lady friend ordered the chopped salad I ordered the ribeye mid rare w a loaded baked potato on the side. Was told ribeye would take 20 min and would come out on a sizzling plate so be careful. Salad comes out really quick, and need to wait for about 10 minutes for the steak to come. Steak finally comes, it is not on a sizzling plate, I cut into it and immediately sees it is overcooked, I'm ravenous though so I just eat it, also feel bad wasting a 125$ steak. About 1/2 way through steak server notes that the steak is well to mid well not mid rare. Says he'll comp the steak and then later comes back and says he can't so comps some wine. Potato was not really cooked and the plate was warmer than the potato, I took one bite and just said to box it up. Prob won't go back, stick with Duo or Ruth's Chris for a steak IMO read more

2.5 stars. Food was decent and at times excellent (steak, creamed spinach). Service was extremely lacking. Drinks served after appetizers. Bread course removed prematurely despite asking multiple times to leave it. Dip for onion rings brought out 30 minutes later after they had been cleared (and not eaten, undercooked and underseasoned). Check took 30 minutes to arrive and then was brought twice by two separate servers. Neighboring table was served before us despite arriving after and was in and out in half the time. Also absolutely freezing inside, thankfully it was a warm evening and they had outside seating. Hope they work out the kinks and service. read more

The setting for the restaurant is beautiful and the food is delicious. The service is something totally different. Even with a reservation we waited to be seated. Once seated we waited and waited to be served. At one point the manager dropped by to see if everyone was having a wonderful time. I mentioned we have been waiting quite awhile for our food and his response was "oh I'm sure it will be out shortly." That summed up the service for the night. Kind of late review but I was here last month .steak and flavor is in line with other Wolfgang's . Their porterhouse is definitely my favorite steak, but in this location the sear was not any good. My theory is who ever cooked the steaks had too much moisture before searing on the salamander. They should dry up the top of the steak with a paper towel before searing . read more

We wanted to give this place a try. Never ate at a Wolfgang's but have eaten at Ruth Chris, Hy's, to name a few. While this location has only been open a few weeks, I would have expected better. My major complaint was the quality of the food. 1. Waiter and wait staff were excellent. Waiter was very knowledgeable and professional. 2. Oysters and shrimp cocktail was fine. Not much to mess up since oysters are raw and shrimp were plain cooked shrimp. Quantity and quality was good for price. 3. Tomato and onion salad. LITERALLY, the plate came out as 3-4 half inch to 3/4" sliced tomato and the same size of thick slices of raw onion. No seasoning or dressing at all. The $17-$20 dish was literally one tomato and one raw onion sliced in fourths raw. Onion, as you could imagine, was inedible. I couldn't believe they served this! Nothing was done to the ingredients other than cut and plated. We brought this to the attention of the waiter and it was taken off our bill. 4. Steak. I ordered the ribeye cooked medium. Meat came out looking charred. Feel of meet seemed medium. When cut there was some pink. Overall, the meat was dry and tough. Not tender as I would expect a ribeye to be. It was like sirloin! I order my steak medium at Ruth Chris and Hy's. This was NOT like anything I would have expected at a high-end steakhouse. I did miss the sizzling buttered hot plate here, as well. 5. Ordered loaded baked potato with no bacon. Literally came out with melted cheese, no butter or chives. Side of sour cream. The potato was just like a potato I'd make at home. Roth Chris' is much better. Total disappointment. 6. Corn, peas as sides. Corn was tasty. Peas were just blah. Overall, I would NOT return here. As an established "chain" company, I would have expected more from the food. Yes, this is a newly opened location. But if the food doesn't stand up to the same, what else is left. Ruth Chris is right next door if we want a high end steak next time. Wolfgang's meat prices are higher and there seemed to be less options of cuts, etc. Side prices were similar. It's very clear that of the two neighbor restaurants, Ruth Chris wins. read more

*Extremely Poor service and an Overpriced menu* We're a local couple - made a first visit to the newly opened Wolfgang's Steakhouse Maui at The Shops at Wailea for a special dinner date and to celebrate July 4th. The place was about 25% full - except for us (locals) - primarily a tourist clientele. Was seated just before 6:30pm - then placed our order for two $125/per rib eye steaks, $30/per small lobster tails, plus wine and other items. We didn't receive our soup and salad until about 7:45pm - over an hour of waiting. Guests that came after us were served before us. We were utterly disappointed that our waiter Jeff was inattentive to our needs and appeared to focus on serving the other guests and gave us minimal attention. When we finally received our meal after 8pm, the sautéed mushrooms were cold, the lobster tasteless, and the baked potato hard. Needless to say our evening was ruined - we were so angry that we ended up taking the food home with hardly a bite as we could not eat there any longer and wanted to leave. We will never return again. For $125 steaks we expected a better experience. read more

Had a so so experience at Wolfgang's last night. Having dinner at Wolfgang's in Waikiki a few times was excited to see there was a location in Maui as well. I now know it's only been open a short time and working out the kinks but for the price point it is a little disappointing to have a lackluster experience. Our waiter was great but the service was very slow and one of our steaks was cooked incorrectly and delayed the meal even more. The second attempt definitely seemed rushed and if anything undercooked this time but wasn't worth the trouble complaining. They did offer a free dessert but again it took forever to be served. We were one of the few tables in the restaurant at the time, so it was confusing why it was taking so long. I'd definitely give them another shot if they're still around next time I come to Maui. read more

I'm sorry. If you're going to Wolfgang's for dinner to be wowed, this is just not the place for you. This is a meal any amateur chef can prepare. Anyone can throw a steak or a tuna steak on a grill. Nothing very exciting at all. The lobster bisque was gelatinous and had no flavor at all. A bisque is supposed to be creamy and full of flavor. My hubby's steak looked good and he said it had nice flavor, but nothing special. He was not impressed with his steak fries which he said were very bland. My "seared" ahi tuna was not seared at all. When I asked the manager if that was how they meant to cook it, he said it was right. It was practically cooked right through and had no seasoning or flavor. Very disappointed because the only flavor it had was the soy sauce I made with the wasabi I mixed in. I could have made that meal and it would have been a lot nicer and it wouldn't have cost as much as it did. When we're paying over $200 for dinner, we're expecting to get what we pay for. This was not even close to it. Our server, Craig, and the hostess were great. They were both very nice and so friendly. That's the only reason I gave this place 2 stars. From the other reviews, maybe this is better at lunch, but for dinner, go anywhere else. I've had gourmet meals at the food trucks that were way better than this. read more

We decided to try Wolfgang's as it was a new option to our normal routine when visiting Maui. Tonight's dinner was a disappointing experience to say the least. Our server Grant started out nice and cheerful, offering us drinks, and adding some playful banter. We started with the seafood tower which was disappointing to say the least. Salads are massive and easily split 3 ways for an appetizer. The dinner was decent, our medium rare Steak for Two was more medium to medium well and took about 45 minutes to come out. My Partner enjoyed the Ahi Steak saying it's one of the best he's had. The three sides we order were lack luster, the mashed potatoes were bland, the cream spinach tasted more like sauteed spinach well seasoned but not what we expected, and the lobster Mac and Cheese had a few very small pieces of lobster. During our dining experience, Grant's attentiveness dropped to the point where others were checking on us and offering some in the party more water while skipping others. At the end we bypassed even thinking about dessert and called it a night. In summary, we all regret changing from visiting Ruth's Chris next door, we are always treated far better there and the food is of a consistent quality and offers a better value for your dining experience read more

Very nicely appointed steakhouse yet no view. Our waitstaff was excellent even though the place had only been open about six weeks. The food was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The Beverly Hills chopped salad was awesome. Point of caution, ask about steak sizes they are all sized for two people. Not knowing this at first had us believing that the prices were over the moon. Now, they are a bit high yet you will take food home. Also there is an 8 oz. ("Petite") filet not in the menu which I ate. We brought wine and paid the corkage fee making our bill a tad more reasonable. Will definitely go back, might try for lunch. read more

My visit to Wolfgang's Steakhouse was a big disappointment, severely under-performed in a number of areas. Highlights: The restaurant was barely busy and we were greeted and seated quickly and our cocktails were fine. Soup and salad were OK. Lowlights: 1. Wine selection very good but by the glass was very weak, perhaps think about using the Coravin preserver to enable better choices. 2. The waiter couldn't answer a few questions about the plate items without asking for help. 3. The table is set with bread plates so there is no doubt bread was to be served, it wasn't so we eventually had to ask. The Steak for Two was beautifully aged and a great cut but was absolutely under seasoned and appeared to be lacking any color, appears as if the heating element wasn't up to temperature when the meat "hit the grill" so there was no sear at all. My thought has always been that a properly seasoned steak should need no additional sauces (unless that's your thing) but thank goodness the Wolfgang steak seasoning was available to provide flavor to this bland meat. 4: Sides were unspectacular and baked potato was not fully cooked. 5: Menu states "dessert of the day" so we inquired as to what it might be, again the waiter has to go ask and just disappeared, someone else eventually came and asked if we needed anything else, answered the question immediately, and the dessert we shared was just ok, nothing to celebrate. In closing, the expected costly meal was underwhelming at best. I have no doubt that of all the high end steak houses I have dined at, this was THE WEAKEST by far. My expectations for this recently opened and Wolfgang branded restaurant were obviously high as it should be, but I do not see this place surviving over the long haul unless something drastically changes. read more
