My husband and I loved this place. Great hostesses, amazing bartenders and servers, comfortable atmosphere, and good steak and apps. Had no clue it was a chain restaurant though. I had a solid experience here for dinner on New Year's Eve. Whenever I am visiting the Wailea area, I have always tried to reserve a night for a good steak since this is one of the few places in the world where you can get steamed rice with your steaks! (For the uninitiated, a definite Asian thing is steamed rice instead of a potato based carbohydrate with your steak...it is one of my favorite things and generally cannot be found at great steakhouses in the world outside of Asia or Hawaii). My usual go-to spot in Wailea for steaks has been Ruths' Chris which is a direct competitor and just 1 floor up from Wolfgang's. I have always gone to Ruths' because of name recognition and when I checked on Yelp, the reviews for Wolfgang's have been kind of inconsistent so I have stayed away. I decided to take one for the team and reserved a table here on New Year's Eve. Overall, I had a very good experience and i would now choose this over Ruths' when in the area. Here is why: 1. They were ready for me upon arrival. My party arrived about 10 min early and we were promptly seated. That has never happened at Ruths' where waiting about 10 min "while the table is set up for us" seems to be the norm. 2. The dining environment is open, bright and airy and there is a choice of both inside or lanai seating. Ruths' comes across as dark, clubby and a bit dated. To be fair, the lanai seating at Wolfgang's is not overlooking anything of interest but at least there is an outside open air dining option. 3. The steaks at Wolfgang's were just a bit larger, tastier (they are dry aged), and honestly seemed to be a bit higher in quality. Mine came out sizzling on a very hot plate, elevated on presentation, and it was pre-sliced and perfectly cooked. Seasoning is minimal to light which allowed the real flavor to shine through. 4. The sides I had were perfect. Portion sizes are generous and came out prepared well and at the perfect temperature. Sautéed spinach and steamed rice were what we ordered and they were outstanding. These were good enough with the great steak that collectively it would qualify as my death row meal should I ever need one. 5. They have a great wine list. Award winning, in fact and had I not brought my own, there were plenty of interesting choices that I would have loved to consider. Wine markup pricing is typical (which is to say, stratospheric). I think the one thing that is a slight downer for me in this review is the pricing. Corkage runs $40 and most of their steaks are well north of $100. Ruths' is slightly less expensive and to be fair, the steaks at Wolfgang's seem larger and they are dry aged which imparts additional cost. Plus, this is Maui and nothing here is cheap. But this will be one of the most expensive meals you can book a table for in this area. The reason for holding out the 5th star is the service. The service was good and there were no mistakes. In fact, I really enjoyed my casual interactions with our busser, main server, and the wine manager. However, they were just that...casual interactions which are endearing but not indicative of white table cloth service. But it was not comprehensive white table cloth service which I would expect when you are dropping a load of dough on a single meal. Great food in a nice setting it is. Finest dining this is not except for the price points. After all of that, I think this is my new favorite spot for steak and rice in the Wailea area. So ono! read more

We visited Wolfgang Puck Steakhouse in Wailea to celebrate my mom's birthday with a group of eight family and friends. The restaurant itself is stylish and well-maintained, but unfortunately the view is nothing more than the parking lot, which was disappointing given the location. The restaurant wasn't busy that evening--just a few couples and small groups--so service was reasonably prompt. Drinks and bread starters arrived at a decent pace. However, the food itself left much to be desired. I ordered the lobster bisque, which came out lukewarm and thin in consistency. One of my family members tried the tomato appetizer, expecting something more substantial, but it turned out to be just a plain tomato with herbs and sauce. At nearly $30, it felt uninspired and not worth the price. For our mains, we all ordered premium steaks served on hot plates. Unlike other steakhouses such as Ruth's Chris, where the steaks arrive sizzling hot, ours were barely warm. My cut wasn't even a ribeye as expected, and it was disappointingly chewy. Overall, while the atmosphere was pleasant, the food quality and execution did not match the high prices. Based on our experience, I would not recommend Wolfgang Puck Steakhouse in Wailea for a special occasion or for those seeking a truly premium steakhouse experience. read more

I truly hate to give this update. I have made it a personal rule to resist giving out poor reviews lately. But I must share my experience as last time I gave them 5 stars. My wife and I came here for lunch on a Friday. We showed up at exact 11:00. I walked up to the door and tried to open it. The hostess looked at us and gave us the time our gesture and pointed to her watch. Their sign indicated a 11:00 opening, so we just sat down outside. About 7-8 minutes later she unlocked the door and walked away. We walked in and were seated and brought water right away. Our server ended up being the hostess. It took her about ten more minutes to ask us about our drink order. We both had delicious cocktails. She waited until we were nearly done with our drinks before taking our food order. The steak sandwich was not what I remembered, but the fries and onion rings were fantastic. We never saw our server again. We both wanted second drinks. I had to go to the bar to ask the bar tender for our bill. It is too bad. After such abysmal service I can't see myself going back. I hope you don't get stuck with our server as the first one we had was fantastic. read more

first time here, made a reservation at 8pm. It was slow which was nice, easy to be seated and nicely greeted. The renovations look like you're walking into a nyc restaurant. The Longhi's will always be missed especially happy hour. We sat outside, greeted with a sweet waitress named kalehua and gave us the best recommendations. we started with a glass of chardonnay, pineapple juice and root beer. Our main entrees were steak for 2 which is a porterhouse ; medium rare, sautéed spinach and cream spinach, steak fries, sautéed mushrooms and onions. The keiki order mini loco moco and burger sliders. The kids menu was pretty good and nice selection to choose from. ended with a kids scoop of chocolate ice cream, and i had a glass of pinot noir the waitress recommended. we pretty much mopped everything, my boyfriend loved the steak the best, and his son loved the loco moco and ice cream. read more

A friend recommended Wolfgang's, as I love a good steak. My wife and I went there for dinner with another couple. We were seated quickly, and we had a choice of indoor or "outdoor," which is a covered patio area. As the restaurant is inside the Shops of Wailea, there is no view to speak of. The interior gives off a posh Manhattan vibe, and the waitstaff is dressed in nice suits. Our waiter told us about Wolfgang's steaks, USDA Prime and dry-aged for 28 days. He took our drink orders and when he came back with our drinks we ordered our dinners. Our wives started with the restaurant's signature salad, and my friend and I each had a Caesar salad, mine with extra anchovies on top (and no charge for that, which is nice - many restaurants will surcharge). The signature salads were very good. The Caesar salads were not special at all. Chopped up romaine lettuce, with a pre-made dressing and croutons that obviously came from a bag. I expect a $16 Caesar salad to be made from scratch, preferably table-side. This could easily have been made from a Costco kit. It tasted OK, but it was nothing special. My wife went for fish - kampachi to be exact. I had the 16-ounce filet and my friends split a filet. I ordered a loaded baked potato for myself and the creamed spinach for us all to share. All side dishes are extra-cost. The steak comes on a plate all by itself. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The filet itself had not been trimmed as well as I would have expected given the cost, and there was a lump of gristle that should not have been part of my meal. They do not offer béarnaise sauce but they did provide a peppercorn sauce and a bottle of their house-brand steak sauce. The peppercorn sauce was creamy and very good. Their house steak sauce was overly sweet and not a good fit with a premium dry-aged steak. My wife's kampachi was cooked beautifully and it tasted fantastic. The loaded baked potato was pretty lightly loaded. It came already split open with chunks of bacon in the middle, topped with cheddar cheese and then baked that way. I also received a small dish with sour cream and some chopped chives on top. Again, for an extra-cost side dish I expected more options and a better presentation. The creamed spinach was a real disappointment. Between the four of us we didn't finish the side dish. The spinach appeared to have come from a can, there was virtually no milk or cream evident, and I didn't taste any nutmeg. Once again, at a premier restaurant I would expect the dish to be hand-made from fresh spinach greens, with real milk or cream, and so on. I ordered a glass of red wine to go with my steak, and found a reasonable glass from the short list of by-the-glass options. I noted that their Paso Robles offering wasn't something my in-the-know friends would support (they own a vineyard in Napa and Paso Robles juice sells for a fraction of Napa juice), and our waiter brought me a taster of the Paso wine as well as the glass of wine I ordered. Nice touch. By the way, my friends were right, the Paso wine was significantly inferior to the wine I ordered. The portions are very large and the waitstaff boxed our leftovers for us to enjoy at home. This was a meal that failed to reach excellence. For the price, it was decidedly mediocre. I'll make a direct comparison to Ruth's Chris, which happens to be one flight up from Wolgang's at the Shops of Wailea. While Ruth's Chris does not dry-age their steaks, they are served on a hot-hot plate, with butter on the top of the steak. Both steaks taste great, but I think the presentation at Ruth's is superior. Ruth's Caesar salad is better than Wolfgang's and their creamed spinach is far better. The cocktails and wine selections are very similar. I did like the ambiance of Wolfgang's better, as Ruth's is more leather and low lighting, but the difference is not significant. We are blessed to live on Maui full-time and we have been to virtually every restaurant on the island. If you're here on vacation you won't regret eating here. The service was impeccable and the steaks were great. If you're used to eating steaks at high-end restaurants like El Gaucho or Metropolitan Grill in Seattle, Jeff Ruby's places in Greater Cincinnati, Peter Luger in NYC, etc., you will be underwhelmed. The attention to detail in the side dishes is sorely lacking. read more

A 1940's-themed New York steakhouse on Maui is welcome news to me! We dined at the Waikiki location years ago but still excited to try their newest venue in our backyard. Aside from the handful of locations in the Big Apple and a sole Boston spot, the rest are internationally situated, with the two eateries in Hawaii being part of that geography. ATMOSPHERE: Located in The Shops At Wailea, they've taken over the space previously occupied by Longhi's. The dining room is airy with beautiful lighting, a modern woodiness and showcases an impressive wine display. Outdoor seating is available and is where we sat in the most perfect weather ever. No views but it's still enjoyable. They were eerily empty for a Saturday night so hopefully that'll change once word gets out as they've been open for about a month as of this review. RESERVATIONS: Not required at the moment as they seemed pretty slow. PARKING: Plenty of free parking. DINNER MENU: Extensive wine list, cocktails & beer, steak, lamb, seafood, desserts. BEVERAGE: Leave Only Footprints - $20.00 Vodka base with slightly tart and citrusy notes. Don't forget the blueberry juice-filled pearls at the bottom that pop like caviar. Highly recommended! FOOD: House Bread Of the three varieties served, the black squid ink-colored loaf caught everyone's eye. It didn't taste any different than the plain and onion varieties aside from a hint of sweetness from the baked-in cranberries. Caesar Salad - $16.00 Pictures do not do this salad justice as they all look plain and undressed. Order it! It was by far the tastiest caesar I've had in a while. Two yums up. Steak For Three - $315.00 Four of us shared this t-bone and finished all but three pieces of dry-aged, buttery, medium rare goodness. Bottled house steak sauce is available but none was needed for this purist. For sides, we chose spinach (someone in our party wanted it steamed which wasn't the best preparation), jumbo baked potato (very mainstream and a bit overcooked), asparagus (pass on this), sautéed mushrooms (excellent) and sautéed peas & onions (very good). Fresh Catch of the Day - $53.00 The bite of ono I had was tasty but the fish's texture was a tad dry and crumbly. The exterior was breaded and buttery with a slight crunch. DESSERT: New York Style Cheesecake - $16.00 It's a generous slice and enough for 3-4 to share. That said, it wasn't as airy and light as my benchmark favorite from "The Factory", but the flavor was good. My only dislike was the overly moist and spongy crust. SERVICE: Host greeting was friendly and immediate. Lokahi was a terrific server. Professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Everyone was on top of their game and we never felt rushed (I'm the slowest eater on earth). TIP: Lunch service to start in a few weeks followed by breakfast. I used to think we'd be fine not going to steakhouses because I'd convinced myself I can make a good enough steak, but we ordered to tomahawk (which I don't usually make), and the crust was unreal. We came in a little late, well very late actually, maybe less than 30 minutes before closing, and we were lucky our server was gracious enough to make us still feel welcome - I wish I remembered her name, but maybe it started with a K? Do not be misled -- this is NOT a Wolfgang Puck restaurant. I don't care if that's the owner's name; it is clearly misleading, and he knows it. The food was absolutely disgusting. The filet mignon didn't even look like a steak and tasted terrible. The baked potato looked like it had a slice of Velveeta cheese slapped on top. We ordered bacon, but what we were served was pork belly -- a big difference. If you're truly a chef, you should know that. The mashed potatoes were inedible, and the crab cakes were burnt on both sides. Overall, the food was awful and completely misrepresented. Go anywhere else -- I will not be returning. read more

The renovations they did are spectacular! What use to be an all outdoor area to, visually still an open area with floor to ceiling doors that give you an option now and didn't loose the outdoor scenery or make you feel in-caved. Really, people come to Maui to be outside, they kept that vibe. The service was amazing and professional, we came for a birthday lunch. We started with an amazing salad, so many flavors and veggies, every bite was a wonder, cut so perfectly to enjoy every bit of it. Also the traditional Caprese. My boyfriend had the seafood pasta that tasted so fresh, we loved. I had the steak sandwich.. to be honest wasn't my favorite with the 3 large cuts of meat.. not easy to bite. It came with the basic lettuce, tomato onion that was so huge took over the sandwich. Also you must like the way steak tastes all on its own because there is no extra thought on flavoring it. Nothing. Oh maybe the pickles. Sorry, I know that sounds harsh but that was disappointing. I was asked if I liked any sauce like A1 or anything, but I thought to myself no because I want to see how the chef prepared it. Especially for the cost and the hype of Wolfgang's restaurants. Maybe there's something I just don't understand, it was bland and it wasn't for me. I wish I had chose something else. I had a blueberry vodka cocktail that was tasty. At the end they treated us to a very BASIC ice cream in a glass w/chocolate drizzle on the inside with whipped cream on top as a birthday treat. There is no heart, soul, imagination, thrill to the very basic birthday treat at this high-end restaurant. WS recently opened for lunch and from the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was inviting, with a blend of elegance and a relaxed island vibe. The restaurant's décor, with its dark wood accents and pristine white tablecloths, created a sophisticated yet comfortable setting. Our lunch began with a warm greeting from Hostess to our very attentive waiter Craig who was knowledgeable throughout the meal. Starters: Classic Caesar Salad, which was crisp and perfectly dressed, setting the tone for what was to come. Lobster Bisque with a generous amount of lobster and the right amount of cream. Melted in your mouth. Main Course: Shrimp and Avo salad and they replaced Romaine with Spinach perfection. Light and healthy in a vinaigrette dressing. Petite Filet cooked with perfection and Mahi Mahi with bleur blanc sauce. Service: Craig our waiter was attentive with everything from beginning to end of lunch. Mark the manager who I've know from another steakhouse made sure our experience was stellar. He wanted to treat us to desserts and we declined we were completely satisfied. Overall, Wolfgang's Steakhouse provided an exceptional lunch experience. We hear HappY Hour starts today with the live music. The combination of outstanding food, impeccable service, and a beautiful setting made it a memorable dining experience. We were celebrating my partners birthday and she loves seafood. Wolfgang's did not disappoint! We started with sautéed mushrooms which were cooked to perfection. The avocado shrimp salad and lobster roll was our faves. The generous amount of shrimp (10pcs) and chunky lobster pieces was worth every penny. The service was top notch too. Unfortunately, the consistency of crème brûlée (not photo worthy) was more eggy than smooth although the flavor was good, and no kama'āina discount (total bummer). This was a last minute decision to eat here on our last night in Maui. I'm so glad we decided to dine here! Aaron was our server. He went above and beyond to take care of us. I have an allium allergy and it can be very challenging for me to eat out. Aaron and the chef made sure that I felt safe eating and were very confident in their abilities. Although it was the end of the night, it was relaxing and quiet. I ordered a Foggy morning cocktail, split a mozzarella and tomato salad, and had grilled salmon as my main course. My husband had the Ahi Tuna, lobster bisque and Maui Brewing Company Wolf Ale. Both of our meals were exceptional and memorable. Highlights: Very fresh fish that didn't feel overly heavy. Seasoning was perfect. We had zero complaints except that we couldn't eat more. My cocktail was so unique! Decadent but not overly sweet. I loved it. The Wolf Ale was unique to their restaurant. I'd give it zero stars if I could. Food was truly terrible, even down to the mashed potatoes which I can't even understand how you could screw up. They were out of about half the menu. The wines by the glass list was very limited. On top of everything else. I've eaten at steak houses for less in NYC over $2000.00 for bad food. Not surprising the place was practically empty. Had the opportunity to dine at Wolfgang's and here's my thoughts: Pros: Service was great, Kamaaina Rates, Great salads (Beverly Hills Salad), Soups are very tasty, and the mixed drinks were fantastic. Cons: Refills on sodas is a very cheap approach and it totaled almost 100 dollars (not mentioned during service), dessert options were not so great, steaks were not the hottest out of the kitchen and felt a little unseasoned, and the house sauce for the steaks is not tasty and I passed on using it. Final take: Service was fantastic and Tim was very professional and personable. Our bill was close to a thousand and that's fine, however, nickeling and diming for soda refills at $ 8.00 dollars a pop is not a great approach coming from a prestigious restaurant. Also, the steak preparation should be redefined and there should be more sauce options for the steaks. I really wanted this place to be great but sadly Wolfgang's fell short of my expectations. As for now, I still feel Ruth's and Duos are the kings for steaks in Wailea. With all that being said, I know this is the beginning for Wolfgang's in Wailea. I expected some flaws being so new and I will give it another try down the road. I hope improvements are made moving forward and I wish Wolfgang's the best of luck. read more

Came here to grab some lunch after shopping. Wife had the lobster sandwich and I had the fish and chips. Honestly the lobster sandwich was one the of worst we've had. It's more of chopped lobster on a flat bread. Pretty dry and flavorless. Wife did not enjoy it at all. The bread was thick and dense. I had the fish and chips. That was good. We have been to Wolfgang's three times in the past week. Two late lunches and one dinner. We sat at the really nice indoor/outdoor bar and always had great service. The food has also been fantastic. First lunch was the chopped salad with chicken and also the grilled fish sandwich. Loved them both, so next time was the chopped salad with chicken (nice small chop of everything) and the classic burger with American cheese. Perfectly cooked medium and it came with steak fries and onion rings! Yum!! Then last night we had a dozen oysters, the jumbo lump crabmeat cocktail and the filet mignon with a side of mushrooms. Started with a martini and then a bottle of cab. The crabmeat was so good and really jumbo chunks of crabmeat without any sauce to mess with the sweet crabmeat. Then the filet. It was perfectly prepared, perfectly seasoned with tons of flavor. And don't be scared off from the price. It is probably a 16oz filet. Easy for the two of us to share and have plenty to take home. My one regret is not taking photos. Next time I will. This restaurant is very good, super clean, with a cool wine room, but because it is still relatively new it wasn't busy when we were there. I think people are intimidated about going in, but they shouldn't be. The staff is very friendly and they have a variety of items on the lunch, dinner, bar and happy hour menus. We ate at Wolfgang's steakhouse on a Sunday afternoon a couple of weeks ago and I have to say it was outstanding! Our wonderful server Kalehua made some suggestions and we were not disappointed! Everything was delicious! We had the tenderloin kabob, hamburger sliders, seafood combo and onion rings. All was soo good! Their lunch menu is very reasonable and for those of you who think the steak dinners are expensive, please note you get an enormous amount of meat. Enough for 3 to 4 people on one plate!! First timers at Wolfgang, but we frequent many high end steakhouses wherever we travel. This place did not disappoint. We came on a Tuesday night and they'd only been open a week! (I was a little nervous as I usually like to let restaurants fully figure out their systems before dining in). Kat was our server and she was a gem. Truly cared about curating a wonderful experience for us. She truly took ownership as did the server assistants. Not a detail went unnoticed. The food was reallllly good, but not the best I've ever had. Nothing disappointed. Everything was a "good take" on their respective dishes. The German potatoes was a nice shakeup from the traditional steakhouse sides and they were 10/10. The lobster mac n cheese was very unique compared to other steakhouses. Heavy on Parmesan flavor and a lot thinner cheese then were used to. Overall heavier items like the lobster mac n cheese and the lobster bisque has a lighter taste, which we welcomed! Maybe not what most people are expecting though so thought I'd share that here. We got the tomahawk and split it between us. Beautiful char, and the flavor came through in each bite. The Beverly Hills chopped salad, maybe the unsung hero of the menu. Honestly the most impressed with this dish.it was wonderful. The ambiance, atmosphere, and service were over the top 10/10. A true dinner experience that felt deeply personal from each member of the staff. We could not have appreciated our experience at Wolfgang more. Absolutely try it out! read more

Went to Wolfgang with a friend for Happy Hour the other day. It was very nice. My pro's and cons are simple. Cons - it's a bit stuff and I wish they would relax the attire for the staff. Nice aloha shirts over ties. They are a chain and I'm sure have to follow corporate rules but it's Maui so lighten up a bit. Also, it was very cold inside. Pros - spotless. This place defines the word "clean." Staff was on it. We sat at the bar and the barkeep was great. Even manager asked about how we were doing. Also a plus is that carry local beer. I didn't see mass produced swill but maybe they have that piss in a bottle. We had the hamburger sliders. Those were awesome - very tasty but here's the catch, the onion rings that come with them are perfect. They should truly tout the onion rings. Some of the best ever. Fair. Came in for lunch. Almost empty. Was placed at a table where the bar tender served me. I did not know that. Lobster roll is a disappointment. Roll was obviously microwaved, hard in some places, hot in others. Lobster salad tasted like Foodlands from a container, but room temp not chilled. Salad was lettuce only and no dressing. I had to ask for oil and vinegar. I ordered a Pelegríno and a liter bottle came. That's all that's available. And $12. Server was busy chatting with bar patrons and not looking in on me. And a pricey bill to top things off. I won't return. Not what Wolfgang had in mind. A sad representation of the New York name. Skip this stop and go to Ruth Chris instead. read more

I was in Maui for a very large family reunion when I was asked to book a last minute group dinner for 26 of us. I called around to many places but Wolfgang's was the only restaurant that could accommodate us. I had zero expectations since my main priority was group accommodation and not much else. Joseph the general manager was friendly and accommodating and made sure we had servers dedicated to our tables. Service was great and the food was next level. The food was fresh, portions were generous, and quality on par with the nicest steaks house in LA or NYC. I'll definitely go back the next time I'm in Maui. read more

The food was absolutely amazing. Every thing we eat rested was delicious. The service from check in to checkout was awesome . Staff kept checking in and seeing if we needed anything . The ambiance is what is expected in a high class restaurant. read more

We celebrated our 48th anniversary dinner here. We had such a delightful time. We had a cozy booth that felt so private. Service was excellent and of course the food was outstanding. The restaurant was nicely lit, it didn't feel like other dark steakhouses. read more

I was afraid this would be a Wolfgang Puck spinoff ... but it's not. Just a good solid steakhouse, worthy addition to Maui. We had the four person (72 Oz!!) porterhouse, which actually had cuts of both new York and filet mignon. It was tender and delicious. Added a lobster tail, also enjoyed. The portions here are no joke. 7 of us was $900 Usd total ... pretty reasonable for nice steaks in a premium resort area. read more
