Checked online for replacement Drive Belt for my Toro Power Clear 821QZE snowblower, showed 1 in stock. I told the clerk at the front desk what I was looking for and he took me to the left side of the store and pointed out a couple of Toro belts which were definitly not what I was looking for. I said that the 1 showed on line and was told that only ment in had been ordered. ???? He then just walked back to counter by the register. Kinda felt bad about disturbing him. (Also some sand and/or ice melt in front of the front door would have been nice.) Ended up ordering from e-bay. read more

Short of a jewelry store, there aren't a ton of places that'll do a simple fix on a watch. The "time center" at Wolff Kubly is perfect - they have staff that know what they're doing, and can help you out. They're honest and reasonably priced. Very happy. As for being a hardware store - they're exactly what you expect from the old-school "Ace" model. Helpful staff are there to answer your questions and steer you in the right direction. I also just find out they have an electrician work twice a month doing stuff like lamp repairs and whatnot. read more

This review is for the clock store portion of the hardware store. I had multiple pocket watches that are rather old and did not run. I took 2 into the store. I was told that they do not fix them at the store but for $10 they would pay to send them to Chicago for an estimate and quote for repair. I was called and told that there were no parts for 1 of the watches and that I could have it back. The other watch quote was $636. I asked how long it would take and if they took a percent of that and was told yes. I was asking because I had several more watches and wanted to understand if it would just be better to find a store that did the watches in house rather than have a middleman. That was my reason. When the watch came back both people working at the store were adamant they were not going to tell me how much it was for them to send it in and receive it back. It felt like they were trying to hide something. I did not expect them to do it for nothing but I did expect them to tell me their service cost. It was uncomfortable because I asked several times. I got the watch. I paid what they asked. I was never told what was done to the watch for $636 dollars. There was nothing written on the bag that was handed back to me. Was it 1 spring that was fixed? Was it all the internal parts? So in my opinion this was bad service. In addition, I have no idea if this was a good value for the repair or a rip off. And they refused to tell me the watch maker that fixed them in chicago. I travel to chicago often and could have just dropped the watches off with him. Why not tell me? I will not be returning to this store. If you have a pocket watch beware. read more

I have been going to Kubly's for over 20 years. It was always my go-to hardware store, since before they moved to Middleton. A change is overdue. I am so sick and tired of the poor customer service. Their ad says 'striving for award-winning customer service', well, you'll need to do a lot more striving. I have only even gotten three types of service there. Either I get ignored, or (most of the time) I get unhelpful service, where they don't know or care what they're talking about or can't find what you need. Or, the worst kind, they treat me like I'm dumb (because I'm a woman who wants actual hardware, not watch batteries or flower pots) and they can just half heartedly tell me something which isn't right and I'll just buy it (literally and figuratively). When I dropped off my snow blower to be tuned up/fixed, they kept it for over 2 months, they didn't put it all back together, screws were missing, pieces were loose. Then it still didn't work. They couldn't even explain how that all happened. At first they refused to give me my money back. I had to fight for a refund for no work done, no problem solved and more problems created. Well, I'm done, no more. Don't care it's nearest to my house, I'm not going there anymore, I'll go to another ACE instead. I don't know what took me so long. read more

Loved the store until this Fall. New Store Mgr. stands at service desk goofing with staff. Doesn't greet customers, ask if they need help, lets them walk out of the store empty handed rather than reach out, watches line form at register without stepping up to help. Went to Allen Blvd. location, just the opposite type of experience. Purchased over $100.00 worth of product. Great job guys! read more

I had taken a watch to have it repaired and have the watch face redone so it would glow again. The price for this repair was very expensive $900.00. The face work was around 300.00 and after a very long time. (it took weeks longer to make the repair ). When I picked it up the face was not done. They wanted the whole amount with no deduction in the price. After talking to them a bit they were nice enough (ha ha) to deduct 100.00 off the price which was not even the close too what i was quoted. Needless to say I was not pleased to be billed almost the entire amount for work not done. They really screwed me. Needless to say I will not be using them again. read more

I brought in a brand new $300 Swiss pocket watch to have the battery changed. I decided it was easier and quicker to pay $10 locally to get the battery issue resolved. Unfortunately the woman, who commented on it being a new watch that had never been opened, had an issue with her thumb that made it difficult for her to take the case back off. After several attempts she enlisted the help of her coworker who did get it open. In the process the back got damaged! A new watch now with a significant blemish. They way of the local hardware store is sadly....going by the wayside. Oh, wait, it's actually not sad, most local hardware stores are terrible! They often have low/limited inventory, inconsistent pricing and apathetic staff. The good news is Wolff Kubly is not like that at all. For a Hardware store they have a tremendous amount of diversity and selection of products, from power tools to paint, expect quality customer service as well, their staff is knowledgable. Not just the aisle of something you may be looking for, but insight in to whether or not you're looking for exactly what you need. Is it Menards? Well, no, but sometimes it's nice to be able to go into a store and grab a few things without spending 45 minutes minimum. Just. Navigating. The store. It looks like a couple of Yelpers here haven't had the best experience with watch repair at this location, I must have been the lucky one. I've brought my Swiss Army Victorinox watches for the last 5 years after being ripped off by jewelry stores and have no complaints, whether it was a new battery, a resize, or a cog repair they performed it quickly, professionally, and at a price I considered to be reasonable. Highly recommend having them fix yours. read more

After spending 20 minutes at a nearby "big box" store waiting for assistance in making a copy of my key, I gave up and left. I arrived at Wolff Kubly, an associate was available to assist me right away. When they realized that they didn't have a mold for the type of key I needed, they referred me to a nearby locksmith. I have been coming to this hardware store since long before they moved to Middleton. It has always been disorganized but the clerks always knew where everything was and were generally helpful. Six days ago I purchased a 21" fluorescent lightbulb for my 87 year old mother. It turned out the problem was her fixture (not the bulb). Even though I was able to show the purchase on my Ace Rewards Card (and they were able to look it up after my elderly mother threw away the receipt) they refused to give me a refund and were only able to offer in store credit! Item was returned in original packaging after less than a week and, for lack of the receipt (even though they could look up the purchase) they refused to credit my charge card. I think I will go somewhere else in the future. So much for being "The Helpful Place!" read more
