First time I noticed Wokker Food Truck was at a community event back in 2015 called Yelp Houston Photo Exhibit. Once I got my Bonito Brussels Sprouts, I didn't want to share, because it was so delicious. Then, I said to myself, I've gotta catch them again. After reading the history on their website, I started to follow their schedule to see where they go. Next time we met was at a charity event called The Great Banh Mi Cook-Off in October 2017. My sister swears that their Brisket Fries are amazing. So last Wednesday, against my diet's will, I had to stop by. They come to campus sometimes and I always get tempted by how good it looks, but I had to stay strong and eat healthy. That went down the drain when I saw someone walk by with their Pork Belly Fried Rice. I ended up ordering the Pork Katsu instead since it is their limited-time menu item and it sounded really good. It came with pork katsu on a bed of white rice, some sauce, and a fried egg on top. It was delicious! Definitely made the right decision. The guys who were working were super nice as well. I've been to other food trucks and it feels like they're forced to be there to take your order and make your food. The guys at Wokker seems more genuine and sweet. This truck was parked in the back lot of the Axelrad bar and I am so happy to have come across it while at happy hour with friends. The food is delicious and they have an allergy free menu to help you navigate what is safe to eat. The egg rolls are gluten free, which doesn't always happen, so that was a pleasant surprise! They were crispy and filled with diced brisket that was super flavorful. It came with a sweet and sour dipping sauce on the side that was a perfect balance to the saltiness of the egg rolls. For my main course I ordered the brisket pad thai and that was the best decision ever. The noodles were soft and had plenty of sauce so they weren't dry. They were topped with thinly sliced, tender brisket that was to die for. The combination together was extremely salty though, I was chugging water the rest of the night. But the dish was so perfect, topped with crushed peanuts, bean sprouts and a lime to squeeze on top. I actually went to Truck Yard Houston to try this place out. I really like the idea of the Texan-Asian fusion. We had their brisket eggrolls, cowboy Katsu, and fried rice. Everything was cooked perfectly. The texture was on point and the size portion is pretty good for one person. I had the cowboy Katsu and couldn't finish it. The only reason I gave three stars is because the taste is not my style. The BBQ sauce was way too strong and didn't flow with the egg. I guess the food truck can give the real restaurant run for their money. Shaken beef was marinated in perfect harmony of spices and sauce. However, I went small and ordered just the Brisket egg rolls and Tamarind Spicy Ribs. The brisket egg rolls were definitely the highlight of my lunch as the meat was tender smoky beef brisket fried in a delicious crunchy spring roll(lumpia) wrapper. I knew these were going to be good. Then comes the spicy ribs. Now don't get me wrong they were indeed fall off the bone however they were very small and order came with just two which consisted of enough meat of 1.5 chicken wings along with curly fries. The flavor of the ribs was okay however I couldn't ever find the "spicy" part. Perhaps if I had 1 more rib, I might not feel as jilted. I was so glad to find this truck, the service was really good, the food took a bit to come out even though there wasn't a line, the game just began when I ordered though. I got the Pickin' Chickin', the concept was really cool, using a pick to eat your food, the order came with curly fries, fried onions, and chicken nuggets in cajun sauce. Order taker let our order sit for 10 min till it was cold. In there defense there was a lot of orders coming in from cidercade and you have to strike while the iron is hot.
