My washing machine decided to stop working so I called Wiseman's Appliance! They connected me with Teak Wiseman who came out to take a look and got it up and running again! Yay! Ripped my elderly mom off on a crap Bosch dishwasher that broke a week after the warranty was up. After two appliance repair people, a plumber, and almost $2000 it was repaired because it was installed incorrectly by Wiseman. Given COVID (and that I have no time), I spoke with Debbie on the phone and she helped me find a model that met our needs, within our price range, and that they had immediately available. But I wanted to support a local business, so I sought out Wiseman's Appliance, which has been serving West Seattle for decades. The sales associate I spoke to was friendly enough, but they didn't have much of anything for me to look at in store. Instead, she wrote my email in a notebook and said she would follow up with names and model numbers of appliances that would be coming in soon. A week passed and I have heard nothing. This is the second appliance I've bought from Wiseman's. We bought fridge a few years ago that still works great and I've been very impressed with their customer service. I called Wiseman's on Thursday looking for a freezer. I had just learned freezers were nowhere to be found in our area due to the pandemic and were 3 months on back order. I was very happy to learn that Wiseman's would be receiving 2 freezer that day. It was delivered on Saturday morning after a courtesy call to let us know the delivery folks would be here at the scheduled time. They arrived on time and in proper PPF maintaining good social distance during the course of the installation. It was a challenging installation due to our sloping garage floor which they handled with ease. And when my husband was comparing prices for the freezer he found Wiseman's was priced lower than the other stores he looked at. Although, price was not our primary consideration because Wiseman's has earned our trust and become our preferred appliance provider. read more

Imagine it's 4:50pm and 90* in your garage and you realize that your freezer is no longer freezing. That just happened to us! I quickly ran to the phone and called Wiseman's Appliance. Steve answered and after a quick explanation on my part, he went into action. He had one person look up the price for the model on the floor while he ran out to the back lot to see if his drivers were willing to take on a last minute delivery (and removal) of the broken down beast. Super disappointed. Took a solid 5 minutes to even be acknowledged even though we were clearly standing there hoping for some help. Asked about a particular line they sell but wanted to look at it. We are interested in an entire kitchen suite to the tune of $15,000. They had zero interest and zero help. Really has gone down hill over the years. Trying to keep it local and not big box. So of course I wanted to stay local and give a local small business my business. I've let a few negative things slide, but I have to say I've had consistently bad service. Every time I call, I'm an inconvenience. I spoke with Joy this morning. Horrible service! The refrigerator I bought 2 months ago is already breaking and I'm an inconvenience to have them help me. They've should've noticed I just bought it and rushed a service guy over. It's brand new!! Stands behind your products. Maybe even apologize?? Crazy. The delivery man who dropped off our frig to begin with was unhappy and obviously hated his job. It was apparent he was annoyed he had to deliver our refrigerator. Weird. That's your job! Speaking as a regular reader of consumer reviews, I know that a lot of people will probably skip over the lowest ratings as they tend to be outliers, unless the overall ratings are low. Having said that, I hope that the owners of the business read this so that they can help them help themselves. My husband and I bought a replacement dishwasher from Wiseman Appliance a few years back. They were great: responsive, communicative, clear in their pricing, price-matched a competitor's price for the same unit, professional and timely installation. They hit all of the high marks in our book and when we recently moved to an old house and the dishwasher died on us, we had no hesitation: we called Wiseman to have them install the same dishwasher for us. This is where things went south. I told them our situation, that we were only too happy to support a local business in our new neighborhood and that they had done us well in the past. They didn't call me back; I had to call back. When I spoke with someone they said that they didn't have me in the system and didn't know what model we had. No problem, I still had the information and gave it to them. I asked if they would price match and they said they would not. Puzzled, I said that I still wanted to give them my business and have them install the unit, even if I bought it from one of their competitors. They said they would not; that they only install units that they sell directly to their customers. I am not sure why they wouldn't price match when they did so in the past, nor do I understand why they wouldn't accept the business that we were trying to give to them in having them install the unit. Sadly, they've lost a customer for life. As I said, we just moved in to an old home with older appliances which, over the years, are going to be replaced, and when we do replace them, it won't be Wiseman's Appliance that gets our business. read more

My husband decided months ago to upgrade our fridge and dishwasher. It took some time to find the right pieces for us and we were extremely happy to be able to patronize a locally owned store. I wasn't involved in the purchase discussions but I know that my husband was pleased with his experience. I am writing this review specifically to praise Wiseman's delivery service and the delivery men Juan and Marco. Delivery and installation of our new appliances took over two hours due to the difficulty of the location (kitchen is upstairs), old fridge ended up leaking all over the kitchen, and the fact that the previous owners of the home had installed the new kitchen floor OVER the legs of the dishwasher. Both gentlemen were exceedingly professional and refused to give up on getting the old dishwasher pulled out without damaging the floor and ensuring that the new one was installed properly. They even took the time to make sure that the dishwasher was flush with the counter, which the old was wasn't. Would heartily recommend purchasing from Wiseman's. read more

On June 21, 2017 I paid a deposit on a new Frigidaire appliances for my kitchen which was undergoing a complete renovation. A new Rang, Over Rang Microwave, Dishwasher, and Fridge were purchased from Wiseman Appliance in West Seattle WA. Wiseman's agreed to hold the new appliance for me until my new kitchen cabinets were installed. On September 27, 2017 the new appliances were delivered by Wisemans. Initially the Over Range Microwave when removed from its box was smashed in on the right front side and bottom. The deliver people did not even leave this microwave that day. I was told they would have to come back with another microwave at a later but yet undetermined date. My new Refrigerator's bottom and top doors had dents in them. The fridge was left but I was told they would come back and swap out the doors when they brought the new Microwave. On October 20, 2017 Wisemans was back with my new Microwave and to replace my Fridge doors. The new bottom door was good, however the replacement freezer door was dented worse than my original freezer door. So the original freezer door was left on my fridge. Since then Wiseman's has been blowing me off. Dan Wiseman, one of the owners and the salesman I had been dealing with on my new kitchen has not returned any of my phone calls in weeks. As I write this it is Friday November 24. I just called Wisemans again and asked for Dan Wiseman and was told he had gone home for the day. I don't believe that. I was told to call back on Monday. A few years ago I had purchased a new washer and dryer from Wiseman Appliance and was very happy with the service I got at that time. So I decided I would give them my business on my new kitchen, rather than going to one of the "Big Box Stores" I wanted to support this small local appliance business. Now that is looking like a big mistake. Almost two months have passed since my new Frigidaire appliances were delivered and I still have a dented freezer door. I do not appreciate being jerked around by Wiseman Appliance on this freezer door. I bought a complete new kitchen's worth of Frigidaire appliances from them and I don't think that it is unreasonable to expect new and undamaged appliances for the money I have paid. Reese D. I went in looking for a new fridge - a challenge since the space provided for it in my old home is both shallow (24" - or "counter depth" in appliance lingo) and narrow (32" wide, max). My internet research produced nothing except for the same crappy, low-end fridge I have now - or a Sub Zero fridge, which fits those dimensions, but costs more than some cars. I walked in and explained the situation to Mr. Wiseman, and he was immediately familiar with my dilemma - probably because of all of the older homes and apartments in the local (N. West Seattle) vicinity blighted with the same problem. Better yet, he had a solution - a line of fridges from Fisher and Paykel - a New Zealand outfit that specializes in higher-end fridges with this particular footprint. Of course, upon leaving there I went to the Internet to see how competitive the prices he quoted were. Turns out I could save at the most $25 by ordering from some faceless clearing house. I'd just assume buy local - out of neighborhood loyalty, and in case some issue should arise upon delivery. read more

Love. Love. Love this store. We have now purchased six appliances from them since 2009 and I realized that I had yet to recognize their stellar service and staff in a Yelp review. So here it is! Dan Wiseman is the expert you should try to deal with whenever possible. He does it all. For several of our purchases, he even showed up on a weekend day to install out new stove and dish washer. He asks thoughtful questions, saving me precious time and money. They carry a few different lines. We tend to like KitchenAid and Whirlpool products. Pricing seems fair and reasonable for the level of service provided. You could go to a big box store and hope they know what their talking about while spending hours wading through all the different offerings. Or you could select something from Wiseman's carefully curated inventory and support a local small business with a commitment to quality and customer service. I'll be sticking with Wiseman's! Tip: Another family member even repairs appliances. You could see what makes the best sense for your budget-repair or replace. read more

I've been trying to get my oven (which we have already paid $3,000 for!) to be delivered and installed for almost a month now and can't even get an idea of when it will be delivered. At one point I didn't even leave my condo for 3 days because someone was supposed to call me and deliver part of it (which makes absolutely no sense.) No one ever calls me back and each time I call they can't find my information. As a young woman, I don't believe that anyone there is taking me seriously and I'm truly pissed at this terrible company. I'm a baker and this is truly affecting my work at this point. It's not okay. This place is seriously unorganized and it is absolutely not worth it to support this small business. I still don't know when I can even expect my oven so hopefully this negative review will help move things along. Update: DO NOT SHOP HERE. I've purchased a washer and dryer, refrigerator, range and dishwasher all at Wiseman (at least $10k worth of appliances). Every installation had issues: Most recently my range was installed and was not operational when the installer left my house - it was beeping and giving an error code. It did not work, and Wiseman made me miss an entire day of work to wait for a repair person to come look at it and tell me they could try and order a new part. only when I called and insisted did they replace the range for me with a working one. My refrigerator was installed not quite properly causing a strange noise when it tried to make ice, and the repair person didn't even remove the plastic from the seams of the fridge - to this day I'm trying to pry plastic out of it. The ice issue was resolved when they installed the faulty oven. My washer and dryer were installed and the installer forgot to bring the stacking kit, so he just wrapped some silver tape around them. I mentioned this to the person installing my stove and he said he would come back and bring the stacking kit but I never heard from them again on this issue - I still have crappy looking silver tape on a washer and dryer that are in the middle of my kitchen. I try my best to purchase from local business and the folks at Wiseman are very nice but I have had repeatedly poor service from this company. very disappointing. read more

Over the past 3 or 4 years, I've purchased several appliances from Wiseman's for two different houses in West Seattle. A dishwaher, wall oven, electric range, refrigerator and washer/dryer. Some had very difficult installation due to the small kitchen in my old house. Wiseman's took care of everything. The installs were done right and the old appliances hauled away. Taking into account their price includes everything (delivery, etc.), I was quite happy vs. dealing with the ineptness I'd expect at a big box store. read more

Very disappointing customer service from a neighborhood store. Multiple phone calls with one excuse after another: the truck broke down, the delivery guy is sick, the owner is out of town, we did not get your message, etc. At the time of purchase we were told multiple times that they would remove the old appliance, no problem. We told them more than once very clearly that it would take 2 guys, and again they said no problem. Until they got my money... Then they sent 1 guy who brought the new appliance but could not remove the old one by himself and left it here. When we pressed the issue they acted like we were at fault for not helping the delivery man (not physically able to help him!) and then they wanted to add additional charges to come back and remove the old appliance. Never mind Wiseman, you are not worth the aggravation, you won't be seeing us again. read more

We had a great experience with Wiseman's and further confirmed the advantages of supporting local businesses versus the big box stores. They were friendly and helpful but did not put on the full court sales press. They carry very high quality appliances such as the Fisher and Paykel refrigerator we purchased. I bought a set of five major appliances from Wiseman's about ten years ago and got good, solid customer service back then. The "on" dial on the dryer finally cracked and broke (meaning I needed to use a pair of pliers to dry our clothes) and just before I went on line to see if I could order the part from the manufacturer, thought I'd drop by Wiseman's. Lo and behold, the salesman went into the back room for a few minutes and came back with the part in hand! Even gave me a break on the price. Bye bye, pliers! What is happening at Wiseman? About a year ago, I bought a stacking washer and dryer. Took the measurements to the store. Upon delivery, they had sent the wrong size, and the installer told me to reorder. Finally received the correct size. Fast forward to 2015. Called to tell them I needed a water heater. Said they would get back to me. They did not, so I called again. Said they would send someone to see what I needed. The "someone" did not have the correct address thanks to an employee that did not write my address correctly. That person then told me my water heater was 27 years old. Not so. Just a ploy to frighten me into ordering a water heater. He took the information back to Wiseman. Never heard from them. Called Fischer Plumbing. They were in and out of here in five days. I second the reviewers who used to get outstanding service from Wiseman's, but have noticed a change for the worse. I've gotten two washing machines, a dryer, a refrigerator and a dishwasher from Wiseman's over the years. Never had any complaints until I chose a refrigerator based on the floor model in their store, which had no ice maker. As I signed the paperwork I commented that I was happy there was no icemaker. When it was delivered--you guessed it, there was an icemaker. This was a smallish refrigerator to fit in a small space, and the icemaker takes up about 25% of the freezer. I called Wiseman's a few times and dropped in three times, to ask about getting that icemaker removed. I got plenty of promises to get in touch and schedule a time to come out and remove it. The last promise was four months ago. I've given up. It's a small matter, but it soured me on the company that used to provide excellent customer service. read more

As West Seattleites we try to patronize our local businesses as often as we can. We have purchased the lion's share of our appliances from Wiseman's and have always been pleased. After our last dishwasher finally failed after 17 years, we purchased another Bosch dishwasher from Wiseman's. They had a great selection and were able to install in a reasonable amount of time. My in-laws washing machine went out right before the snowstorm hit. We were struggling getting a new one to them. I called and talked to Palmer at Wiseman's and within 5 minutes I was able to purchase a new one and get an expedited delivery and they will have clean clothes starting tomorrow. I'm a big fan of shopping locally, therefore I would go to Wiseman's Appliance for various appliance parts. Recently I purchased a "baking element" for my GE Profile oven...not that unusual of a make or part. As it turned out it wasn't the baking element that was not working - one of the wires that attaches to the element was broken at the connector. SO, I don't need the part. I tried to return it and was told "you can't return a special order part". I can understand this but why wasn't I told that when I ordered it or when I picked it up - I could have bought it online (and be able to return it) but I decided to "shop locally". They pointed to a yellowed out sign on the ceiling joist among other yellow out signs...I said "really, you expect customers to see that?". So, I'm done shopping there...too bad because I'm coming up on needing new appliances and they're not going to get my business (because of a $70 part). Time for you guys to retire I think. read more

Wish I could give 0 stars. Don't confuse Wiseman for Weismann Appliances. Weismann has GREAT reviews. His brother Wiseman Appliances does not have great reviews. Wiseman delivered a stove to us yesterday. I thought everything was fine until I went out this morning and noticed they had trashed a small garden I had been curating for years. They picked up a potted plant and dropped it in the middle of the garden crushing my plants and disrupting expensive seeds I had planted. They picked up the stones the pot was sitting on and dropped them on a statue and other plants. I would have happily and safely moved anything that was in their way....and I did. They asked me to move a gate that made the entrance way too tight and I cut all the zip ties and pulled out the stakes that were a foot into the ground to open the space up. I was super cooperative and nice to them. Offered them a cup of coffee etc. They didn't put things back nor did they mention moving my potted maple. When I called to complain the response was "I can't see that there's anything we can do about it. I'm sorry it happened." And then they said they'd tell their manager. I'll update. read more
