The only problem it had was a broken switch and one broken washer. That's it. You weren't there when your associates spoke with me on the phone or in person, so you're making assumptions about the service I needed. Had I spoken to an actual repair person or been treated less dismissively by the woman who looked at my lamp, I might feel more confident in your services. read more

I had some old candlestick table lamps, that were in need of a lampshade and was not having any luck with online shopping. I wanted something on the elegant side. The friendly red haired clerk was so helpful! I showed her a photo of the lamps and she found the perfect shades and was so patient while I was choosing the finials. They have some fun finials BTW. I explained how the lamps were very old and the clerk offered some tips for what to look for on the cords to ensure they were safe to plug in. I am going to have to replace the cords for sure. When I was checking out my friend and I asked about the beautiful chandeliers above the checkout counter and she turned them on for us. Be sure to check these out if you visit. Harold's sold me some light fixtures for my bathroom. They arrived with a shattered glass dome, and they immediately warrantied and helped me get a new one fast. Flash forward three years. One of the LEDs was acting funny. I'm way out of warranty and they don't even sell the product anymore, but they still contacted the manufacturer and got a free replacement LED sent to me. It's rare to see companies stand behind their products this well. I would highly recommend Harold's! read more

This business is not the great store it used to be. Come in on a Saturday and there is a line with two "associates". That's what they call themselves. No matter what you want to do in the store you must wait for an "associate." I inquired about speaking to a repair person. The "associate" told me that they don't let people talk to the repair person and that they will estimate how much my work will cost. This is contrary to how it used to be.You used to be able to walk right up to anybody., Also it used to be a store, not a corporate entity. read more

Went to 2 other well-known lighting stores to get help finding a matching brass replacement bar for a chandelier light since I needed a 6-inch one with female threads on both ends. No luck in 2 locations. They said the seller likely used Loctite glue in the fitting I had. Almost gave up but then stopped in at Harold's and asked...the staff member (cannot remember her name) was extremely helpful and actually was the first person to suggest they try putting it into a vice grip and using a heat gun to loosen the threaded connector...worked like a charm. I offered to pay for her time but she refused to accept anything! Thank your Harold's for being problem-solvers, you helped me complete a tricky installation. read more

Harold's Lighting is the only place I go for lamp repairs. They offer great repair service and have an excellent selection of shades, bulbs, and accessories. I've tried other places, but none compare to Harold's. My first visit hooked me back in 2008 when I took a chandelier in to get rewired. How surprising it was to find that all the candle covers had been replaced and painted by hand to give the illusion of really ancient tapers with wax dripping down their sides. And that was in addition to giving it a deep clean; it was a 20 dollar yard sale find, but dirty. You'll see in the photos that 10 years later, my chandelier still looks like a million bucks. More recently, a marble pillar lamp got repaired, and it now has that luscious brown cloth cord (okay, so I splurged a bit). But for 80 bucks, I got top-of-the-line materials and a great cleaning job. This lamp looks like it was just stolen from out of Versailles. The basic rewire job with regular cord is $65, and with the fancy yummy cord upgrade, repair is around $80, but it's totally worth it, especially if you are trying to spruce up an antique. Harold's Lighting has rewired many lamps in my house. I even have one in the shop now, with about 8 more to go. Harold's Lighting is the one and only lamp shop for me. read more

Love these guys. We inherited an old -late 1800's- French table lamp made of Spealter. It had been mistreated and over cleaned by someone, probably my dad , many years ago. It worked but the body was all loosy goosey and damaged . They gave me an estimate of repairs and new cord etc. it needed. They also said that their restorer guy Master Bob could possibly PERK UP its look since it had no patina or appeal the way it was now. OK so IT took a few weeks but what a beautiful piece it is now ready for years of use for a very reasonable price. Very good people here ready to help any way they could. No one made the shade replacement anyone. I expected to need to buy a new one, but they helped me find a creative workaround that cost $20 when I though I'd need to spend hundreds. The second time I had cable lights break weeks before selling my condo. They helped me identify a solution I could bring home that day. When I ended up only needing some of the parts, they accepted the return without hesitation. Their staff is incredibly knowledge and they are willing to go the extra mile. Fantastic customer service! Obsolete track lighting was inherited from a previous home owner. Several pendant lights were inoperable. The folks at Harold's took time to diagnose a faulty wire on one light and provided a tiny set screw (unavailable at local and big box hardware stores) for a second light. I purchased two brass lamps from Harold's 40 years ago. Harold's has given me outstanding service throughout the years. I was told I could wash the shades if needed and told how to do so without damaging them. I have sent the shades to Harold's to be handmade three times as the heat of the light bulbs will disintegrate the silk. Each time they were made beautifully by their workers..... Fully prepared to drop it off and wait several weeks. Ryan behind the counter observed that it might be simpler than either of us thought. We love this place! As we discovered, like so many workers readjusting to work-from-home life we also re-discovered the importance - and art - of good lighting. Drowning in online options drove me nuts. I went to an ol' boringly usual chain lighting store but so frustrated at the lack of customer attention - yet another sign, people are overworked and stingy companies NEED to employ more people and treat them well. As we are strong proponents for supporting local business, we trucked up to Harold's. Years ago I spotted there a gorgeous light made from real stone that was out of my price range. During the pandemic year, the creature comforts of home prevailed and the memory of this light resurfaced. Very impressive was Harold's excellent customer service and patience. They could decipher my complete lack of electrical language and stepped me through what I needed. Boom! I am thrilled at my new lights. My husband similarly was going round and round with online options and was reminded of Harold's. He is another thrilled customer, also impressed by the staff and really happy with his new lights. We both turned up to view some exterior lights which helped enormously with possibilities. Again staff excelled themselves - we had three of them helping us out at different stages as we pored over catalogues. What is GREAT about going to a store, with knowledgeable staff, is that they explained certain electrical elements necessary for outside Northwest weather - things I would have totally forgotten about. Best customer service ever! Ryan (employee) was very friendly and helpful! Instead of telling me how much it would cost to diagnose my problem, he said "let me check something first" he put some light bulbs into my lamp and plugged it in and "bam"! The lights went on...he also threw in a light switch handle in that he got out of one of the drawers. Best of all he said no charge! I can't wait to go home and set up for my wife...she actually told me to just throw it out and get a new one! Like I always say... perseverance! Thanks again Ryan! I was referred here by Lamps Plus when I was looking for a light bulb clip adapter. I made the mistake of going to Seattle Lighting to place a special order. After waiting weeks and horrible correspondence with S.L., I cancelled my order with S.L. and came into Harold's. They had what I was looking for, in-stock and available at a good price. I was promptly acknowledged upon entering, the really tall guy with a ponytail? (didn't catch his name) was extremely helpful. He answered all my questions and showed me different pieces. Very hands on and helpful for a visual person like myself. This store specializes in repair service, aside from the usual showroom sales that you get at other lamp stores. They are family owned, so I was pleased to patronize their business. I would have saved myself a lot of time and hassle if I'd came to Harold's in the first place. The lamps inside are gorgeous. I would like to find and support a specialty shop like Harold's (but that isn't Harold's). I like what specialty shops do for a neighborhood. I've had one experience with Harold's and they overlooked a very basic and obvious and important detail on my simple lamp repair....are you ready?.....wait for it.... No on/off switch. ??!!?? I'm supposed to turn off a table lamp by following the cord to the wall and pulling out the plug? I had to drive all the way back to their shop from my home across town. The guy at the counter was all indignant and trying to minimize the incomptence. They also said the other lamp we'd brought in was blown out (it wasn't) so the 'repair' cost much more than it should have. (My husband dropped it off and didn't know better.... ) Be ready to stand your ground at the check-out counter, btw. The gentleman working was quick to try to make the customers look like the jerks...when it was him with the odd behaviour and ungracious attitude. If you do go to Harold's, have your wits about you and your paperwork ready. Cooperation and courtesy is scant. DO NOT GO TO HAROLD'S FOR ANY REASON. read more

Of course there was no explanation why the person who took the lamp in failed to mention the flaw. Never going there again and making sure everyone I know in design industry finds alternatives. If you have a large budget, then go here for the variety and quality. If you're a normal person, avoid the heartache of looking at the price tags once you've fallen in love. A relative's toddler stood on our pool table and broke a glass lampshade (a bulb cover on the bottom of the fixture). The fixture has been discontinued so I thought it would be difficult to find a replacement. I worked with a very helpful person at Harold's, corresponding by email. She was trying to track one down. It turned out to be an unsuccessful endeavor. A few months later, I took another look at the manufacturer's website. They had a new fixture that had the same size shade. I went to Harold's to place the order. The person who "helped" this time couldn't have been more rude and unhelpful. I was willing to pay whatever I had to to get the part. His first question: "Did you buy the fixture here". My answer: I don't know. It was in the house when I bought it. Him: "I'm going to have to charge you way more than list price for this since you didn't buy the fixture here. You probably don't want to buy it from me". Me: "Gee, thanks. You didn't even ask if I'm willing to pay your price, but I think I'll be going elsewhere". I called Seattle Lighting. Over the phone, they took my credit card and ordered the part. Reasonable price, no hostile attitude. Screw Harold's. Overpriced, rude, obnoxious. Don't give them your business unless you enjoy being treated like an annoyance. read more
