Order # 72 Online Ordering through the Deli Italiano app with Specific Instructions to text me when…read morethe order arrives for a handover. I had placed the order at 6:29 PM. The delivery was to an L3 Technologies building with a security entrance at the front. Deliverers are well aware that the security will contact the person who placed the order and have them meet the delivery person in the lobby or outside. There was No Update. No Contact. No text per delivery instructions. I tried contacting the deli via their contact information. The automated answering service prompts "1" for receiving text updates. No text. No link in the text. No update. It didn't work at all after 3 separate tries. The order was left OUTSIDE/ outdoors at the front corner of the entrance, out of view. The delivery was already Cold and Crawling With Ants! This is what is referred to as a Three Point Failure otherwise known as a FUBAR. There is no communication between the establishment and your customer. Your app provides no updates on status of an order nor a way to request a status update on an order. If a change needs to be made, there is no way to reach the establishment directly as the listed phone number directs customers to an unreliable answering service which is Crucial Safety Feature if there is an error with the order; for instance an ingredient that the customer or their family members maybe allergic to that was added in error. The HungerRush LLC app merely acts as a non responsive middle wall between the Deli and its customers. The only thing the Deli Italiano app does effectively is accept payment, something a human cashier can do better because at the very least a human cashier can call management for assistance with resolving a customer's issue or answer any concerns a customer may have. The app does Neither. It's 2026. 90s website ordering wasn't this obstructive. I will be stopping by the deli location in Herndon next day before 5:30 PM to have this addressed Directly. Be prepared to resolve this issue!

I was not familiar with the North Italia chain, because there are none in the northeast - New York…read moreand New England. That's probably because of all the really good Italian restaurants in all the major cities and Little Italy's up there. They were not crowded on a Thursday evening for our party of 9. I started with a Turino Old Fashioned, which features Whistle Pig Rye and hazelnut liqueur. The hazelnut was very prominent. But Whistle Pig Rye also has a distinct flavor, and I could not taste that at all in my drink, and in general I was expecting a stronger flavor overall. Our dinners all came out relatively close to each other, 7 of them in the first wave, and the remaining 2 within a minute. My Braised Short Rib Lumache featured maybe 1 scoop of the short rib, atop pasta shells in a cheese sauce. The pasta and cheese appeared to be the standout in this dish, when I would have expected it to be the short rib. I don't think the Italian restaurants in the Northeast need to be too concerned. And with them you are more likely to get personal feedback rather than something which is generated as comments and automatically suggests trying the Happy Hour for more satisfaction.

We had a so-so experience with takeout at this Reston location a couple of years ago, which prevented us from returning sooner. Overall, we found the food here solid, tasty, and reasonably priced. The dining room was surprisingly full for 6pm on a Thursday evening, but we were seated immediately nonetheless at a comfortable 4 top. Service initially seemed a bit inattentive, but once someone actually took our order the staff kept on top of clearing plates and making sure we had what we needed. As we were particularly hungry, we ordered 1 arancini and 3 pies. The arancini comprised four tasty fritters of breaded and fried rice stuffed with chunks of tender, caramelized eggplant and smoked mozzarella cheese. The crisp on the parcels could have been more pronounced, but the flavor from the ingredients made for a nonetheless satisfying bite. The pizzas here are technically individual sized, though I find them slightly small for someone with a hearty appetite. The crusts here could have used a bit more leopard spotting and fermented tang, though had a tender crumb and a decent chew. Of the three pizzas we ordered, we most enjoyed the red Diavola and the white Onion Tart, the latter with our own addition of roasted corn. I appreciate that Pupatella offers a bounty of classic and unconventional toppings, which allows for ample customization without boredom. Overall, the pizzas here do not surpass those at our favorite Neopolitan joint in the area, but the proximity to home, more customizable menu, and family friendly vibe will ensure a repeat visit in the near future.
