Matthew came out and gave a very fair quote especially since we needed a huge downed branch removed right away. It had fallen on the house electrical mast and wire and we have been without power until it can be removed even though Oncor had cut the power to the house. He even called his customer originally set up for next day and asked if he would be willing to move his appt since we didn't have power. We were in need of a tree service to help savage our two big live oaks. They received extensive freeze damage in the 2021 ice storm. We waited to see if they would survive. A couple of tree companies wanted to take down the one that was full of damaged limbs. But after a couple of years they had made a comeback. Wise was highly recommended by folks on Facebook. A limb from a neighbor's tree fell on my yard due to a recent storm. The limb was too big for me to move myself and since I am disabled I cannot cut it up . I called and spoke to Gabriella at Wise Tree Care and told her what had happened. She said they had a full schedule but she would talk to the owner to see what they could do. Go ahead, do your do diligence, 3 bids, etc. I can tell you after a terrible experience with another tree service, Matthew was heaven sent. Arriving on time was a team of professionals with company shirts, hard hats & all the equipment including company trucks, just as promised. I found Matt to be very honest & trustworthy. His team removed 6 trees in front(3 Pine Trees) & 2 in the back of my home. They were able to trim an American Elm damaged in the last storm & it looks great. A stump grinder was used on the 6 trees in front. After clean up, which was awesome, they ended up with two truck loads from the chipper. I highly recommend Wise Tree Care. Wise Tree Care did a fantastic job bringing down a couple of medium to large size trees in my yard (without a lot of clearance) and trimming 6large post oaks. They were incredibly efficient and professional, and my trees look amazing. Mathew gave me options rather than trying to pressure me into services and a reasonable quote. Then, the team delivered exactly the work that was quoted. I had appointments for quotes with two other companies (one also on Yelp), and in both cases I took time off of work only to be stood up and not called. Not the case with Wise. A very professional experience! Matthew came and looked at my scrawny oak tree... He told me I needed a new tree. I thought, surely I could just fertilizer it and it will be okay... He dug a small hole in the growing at the base of my tree and cut a chunk of root away without any problems. He pulled out a corkscrew of a root. "It's choking itself to death. You need a new tree.". Matthew knew exactly what was wrong before he even dug into the ground. Now we have a beautiful, healthy maple tree that turns red in the fall! I cannot tell you about how they treat customers but as a neighbor of a customer I can tell what I observed. First I was awaken on my day off, 4th of July to trimming. Hey look I understand these people have to work. But when I went to leave my house, my entire drive way was blocked. A) it is illegal and b) it is discourteous. I walked outside to also find tree limbs from the neighbors yard in my drive as well. While I was moving one, I asked the Hispanic gentleman to move his vehicle, which he didn't have the keys to and noticed a white male who looked professional and identified himself as Mathew the owner. I simply told him that they couldn't continue to park in front of my drive, because I was leaving, my wife and son also had places to go and we shouldn't have to wait to leave our house. You know how when someone says something like "ok, well you have a good day" but with a condescending tone, that was everything he said to me was in that manner. His tone was so loud, that my wife heard the conversation inside my house. He then asked for my name, as for what reason, I couldn't tell you, other than me asking his frustrated him. I can tell you that professional people, understand that you are viewed more in public as a client for someone else and every encounter is important and this person didn't seem very professional. My first review hasn't shown so here it is again from 08/13/2013. After a big wind storm, my huge 15 yr old Bradford Pear Tree fell. I called 7 tree companies, 2 wanted to wait 2 days to come give me an estimate, 2 came by and gave me high estimates. One called me to say he was very busy due to the storm and wouldn't be able to make it out all week which was understandable. Then Matthew called me. He came right over, he was so nice, not arrogant like the ones that came before him. He quoted me a much lower price to carry away the remains of my tree. Early the next morning his crew arrived and got right to work, they were dressed professionally and did a great job, they even raked the twigs and leaves at the end! They cut my trunk even with the ground (I chose not to get it grinded). They were done in an hour and Matthew called me before his crew left to make sure I was happy. Be careful about understanding what they're going to do. Understand the terms they use, such as " crowning", "raise canopy". Obviously, we did not know their definition of these terms was different from what we thought. He came out and talked to my husband who wanted 3 crepe myrtles cut back and the guy didn't advise him otherwise (crepe myrtles should never be capped!). There is nothing left but tree stumps and it looks terrible. In fact, it looks so bad we're paying someone else to come remove them. They stripped other 30-40 foot trees of all inner limbs and left only leaves at the very tips of the branches even after us going out to tell them to stop thinning so much! And then didn't cut limbs/branches that were going downward! My beautiful shady backyard is no more and now I have to dig up all the shade plants and plant sun tolerating plants. I'll never allow another trimming without me telling them exactly what to cut. Of course, it'll be years before I have a shady backyard again. read more
