Dirty Mac
Brett N.

Why 4 stars? Because it's a great place to eat for health or comfort. --- --- --- I initially visited this space in 2022 when it was Ori'Zaba's and I thought it was absolutely awesome. Sadly, it closed shortly after my visit. But I read in the reviews that this was formerly a Burrito District, so I didn't even realize this was the former Ori'Zaba's until I walked in. So apparently this spot has struggled to keep one concept for whatever reason. The interesting thing about Wise Street Eats is that you can opt to build a healthy bowl with Greek inspirations, or you can do what I did and order the Dirty Mac bowl with fried chicken, mac-n-cheese and cajun fries. I'm a real sucker when restaurants put "Most Popular" on their menu, which made my decision to order this, a quick one. What I will say is that, while I enjoyed the Dirty Mac, in retrospect, I would have preferred if it was a side dish, rather than my entire meal, because it was quite heavy (as one would expect). About halfway through it, I realized I was going to have to bring the energy to take down this valiant opponent. Next time, I'll build a bowl. Or maybe even go with a burger. But I do appreciate the dirty mac and if I was still a man who got hungover, I'd consider it a pretty elite hangover remedy.

Sooo good!!! I've been craving something like this, and I finally found it! I got the chicken rice bowl and the regular slider. They were both delicious and I can't wait to try again!

Our first experience today, was spectacular. Walking in the staff was so helpful! We notified them it was our first time. They let is try a sample, taste some sauces and explained the menu. So many options and combinations. Ordering was interesting, it is "self serve" but the staff is close by to help. The inside is decorated with street art and is bright. We took our food to go, and got to taste several items. I personally liked the chicken Mac and fries the best. My husband liked the chicken rice bowl best with the Wise sauce. The chicken was well seasoned. We will be back to try more items on the menu.

A bit hidden in between a jersey mikes and a dave's hot chicken, this place left a memorable and savory impression! Greeted immediately upon walking in and asked if this visit was my first time, I say yes!, and the worker prepared samples for me and my group to try out while we decided on our orders. You place your order at one of the two kiosks at the counter and wait for your order to be called out by name. The meal came out in a decent time compared to the small crowd that was already in the restaurant. I ordered a rice plate with lamb, an assortment of veggies, and the house "wise" sauce. It was a generous portion, and since it was already served in a to-go container, it made it easy for me to take home. While we were finishing up, the manager(? or one of the workers at least) came up to our table to ask about our lunch and thanked us for visiting with a couple of free brownies! Very hospitable and welcoming place for first-timers and a great place to grab a bite for lunch, will definitely be coming back soon!

One of the best tasting fish and chips that I've had in the Houston area! Everything that I ordered was delicious and nothing disappointed, again my favorite was a fish and chips. I would order that again and again if I were to come back. Next was the slider which packed so much flavor into one slider. The chicken sandwich was super flavorful, the wet rub Nashville chicken sandwich was delicious. Delicious! Most importantly, the service here was immaculate, felt like home. Overall, I highly recommend and would come back.

I had a small bias before going here, only because I loved burrito district, and that's what this place was before. I didn't even know this place existed until I saw them on facebook, advertising, a fourth of july special--fifty percent off everything. Not going to lie-- If anything will get me through the door, it's halal food at 50% off. I didn't realize that they had a timing with the deal and had to get in there quickly with half an hour until the deal would be done. But I looked at their reviews, of course, before heading over there, and the chicken wings looked amazing, so that's what I went for. I ended up giving the dirty mac and cheese, side order of mac and cheese, a couple of different flavors the chicken wings, a couple of order of nashville sandwiches and a slew of sliders. And a cinnamon roll. First of all, the dirty mac and cheese was amazing. I didn't expect there to be french fries in it, but all in all, it was delicious. Even though I went in there for the chicken wings, they were quite salty to me. I'm not sure how to make them less salty, but next time I will ask someone who works there. I had got the lemon pepper and I believe the cajun seasoning and both were very salty. I'm going to give them another try, though, because I don't like wet chicken wings and besides the salt, they were the perfect crispiness. The spicy nashville sandwich was delicious. Perfect spice. And I especially love the sliders, because they were the perfect size without everything falling out of the sandwich. I thought I bought brownies and cinnamon rolls, but apparently I only got the cinnamon roll, so I definitely need to go back and try the brownies, too. I'm so happy that we have another halal place in this area, and will definitely go back.

Just ate at Wise street eats. I ordered the combo Rice bowl with lamb/chicken and wise sauce (Tzatziki type ) sauce. Added corn and cucumbers. It was delicious. Both the Chicken and lamb were Amazingly tender . The wise sauce added a nice refreshing flavor change. I will definitely go back and try other items on their menu. I hear their dirty Mac and chicken is also fantastic. They greeted me the minute I walked in the door. It's a new location so it was very clean and organized.

As soon as you walk in you're greeted nicely and welcomed in, staff makes recommendations and is very friendly. Great job. I Even got samples. Great Service! My first time trying it out and I will definitely be back to try more delicious food from their Menu which has great options specially if you need those gains and they are Open Late. Music is always playing and the place is very well maintained. Clean and Practical.

As a first time entering this place it was amazing , overall best service I had especially with an employee named Joseph helping us with the menu along with some samples of the chicken rice bowl that tasted amazing honestly. The food just as delicious as it seemed to be would definitely come back again !

I went to lunch today with my Mom and our first time visiting Wise Street. Service was excellent and we were immediately greeted by a staff member and given samples. We both ordered the Rice Bowl with Lamb and Chicken with the Wise Sauce. Excellent food. We will definitely be back to try other things. We both got a Cinnamon Roll to go and I will definitely enjoy later. Highly recommend.

CORKSCREW BBQ is Houston's Michelin star restaurant! It is about 30 minutes drive north of Houston,…read morewhich isn't super bad. They are only open Wednesday-Saturday 11AM-4PM. We came a little earlier and there was already a long line. I heard that if you order in advance, you can skip the line. While you wait, the employees walk around and you can order a drink. Which is nice if you're waiting a while and it gets hot. The employees were all very nice and ambiance is how you would expect a regular bbq restaurant to be. There are plenty of seating outside but limited inside. The seats are all first come first serve, so usually the inside seating runs out first. We ordered 1/2lb ribs, 1/2lb brisket, 1/2lb sausages, and some sides like Mac&cheese, beans, loaded potato, cobbler, etc. total was about $120 after tip. The food was very delicious and worth the drive. Although, I will say that it doesn't taste that much different from my other favorite bbq restaurants. I was still a great experience and very delicious. I highly recommend to try if you're in the area.

Since they were awarded their Michelin star, I've been wanting to try CorkScrew... in particular,…read moretheir beef rib. Beef ribs are my go to bbq protein, and not many places have them. I've tried those deemed "the best," including Salt Lick in Driftwood and Killen's. So how did CorkScrew measure up? In addition to the beef rib, we tried the moist brisket, pulled pork, and sausage. We also tried several sides, including those recommended in the Michelin review: potato salad, mac and cheese, smokey beans, and coleslaw, and I picked up a peach cobbler, as well. The beef rib: STELLAR. This was outstanding with its flavorful bark and an impossibly tender texture that truly melts in your mouth, unlike any other beef rib I've ever had. Easily the very best beef rib, without a doubt. The brisket was delicious, as well: tender and flavorful. The sausage was nothing special... on par with sausage elsewhere, as was the pork. As for the sides, I've never been a fan of beans, but since the Michelin review specifically mentioned them, I gave them a try. I'm a fan! I would definitely order these again. Their smokiness is gently tamed by a touch of sweetness. The rest? Very average. The mac and cheese tasted like the stuff I had in my elementary school cafeteria - very un-special. The potato salad was salty and was missing any semblance of potato chunks. The texture was oddly like lumpy mashed potatoes. But the other surprise for me: the cobbler. This was simply and divinely perfect with crisp, sweet buttery crumble. A wonderful way to end a hearty meal. I'm so glad I ordered our food online for pickup. When I arrived at 1pm, the line was wrapped around the building. Pickup was very easy: I texted them when I arrived, and they replied when they were ready for me to go in and retrieve it. But even if there wasn't a line, I would never eat there: the restaurant is too divey for me: very rustic, picnic-like feel both inside and out, and it was uncomfortably warm and humid (again, inside and out.) The staff was very friendly and cheerful. Glad i tried it, and when i get a hankering for a good beef rib, this is definitely where I'll be getting it!

Actually, they have a good size menu and have some American options along with juices and smoothies so It made ordering easy. They also have a full bar with several cocktails and mocktails. Inside right when you enter is the actual bar with about 6 seats which were full with customers during my entire visit. Their happy hour ends at 6pm, but I arrived at 7pm so I ended up missing the discounted drinks. I ordered the cod and shrimp pita which ended up being slightly different than the regular gyro. I had to set it down after a couple of bites since the wheat pita bread is much thinner than regular pita bread and it kept falling apart on me. I also added a mango mojito. With a name like Island Grill, I sort of expected to see more tropical drinks or rum-based cocktails show up on the menu, but this was about the only one. Overall, my experience was okay, but I don't know if it was good enough for me to return.

But after that, I have to say that I will say that I like how quick the service was. You can see them making your food fresh after ordering and I appreciate that they tried to move quickly because there were people going in and out on the Saturday afternoon I was there. I personally don't like the thick bread and prefer the pita pocket style of rolls, but that's just personal preference. So I'm not even counting that part of the review. Because I expected it to have the thinner bread, I asked them to cut it. I usually like to have my sandwich cut in the middle, so I can eat half of it while driving since I'm almost always on the go. When they cut half of the sandwich, the aluminum foil bits were inside of the sandwich and that was really annoying because I had to pick off almost half of the sandwich from the ends of the sandwich just to make sure I didn't eat any bits of aluminum foil. I would ask them to either cut sandwiches in half separately before wrapping or have better quality aluminum foil (You can see the aluminum foil in the pictures). The sauce and meat was good and the veggies seemed fresh. I'm not knocking this place down, I'll definitely be back to try out again but just something to be aware of. I think the gyro wrap might just be growing on me. All in all, if you like a fluffy, smaller sanplacedwich like they do up north, instead of a longer shawarma wrap, definitely try this place out!

The hummus deserves a special mention, it was one of the best I've ever had, and that says a lot coming from someone who is Middle Eastern. It was bland anyway, very different than the Indian version, so I don't think heat would have helped much. At the end was dessert time. They have about 5 desserts.
