Here's another restaurant to steer clear of in Edmonton. The other day my daughter and I went to the vets and on the way home we stopped at Winters Restaurant to grab cheeseburgers and fries for lunch. My daughter ate hers in the car but she only ate it because she was hungry. I was driving so mine waited until I got home. She told me that it was nasty and looked terrible. Anyhow, I ordered the 2 cheeseburgers and specified THREE times that I wanted ONLY lettuce, tomato and ketchup on both. One of the fries was plain the other with gravy on. I was pissed when I got home and looked at my lunch. First off, no gravy on my fries. I tried to eat one of the fries and couldn't swallow it, I spit out the piece I had bit into the garbage. When I looked at my burger on both halves of the bun was some sort of sauce that I can only describe as looking like someone puked on the bun. The lettuce was from the outer part of the head and was rotten on parts of it. The burger itself was pitch black. I broke off a piece and looked at it. It was so dry and over cooked that it looked and tasted like sawdust. Because my work background is in restaurants as a cook I KNOW this is not how a fresh made burger looks or tastes like. I can guarantee you what this restaurant is doing is precooking all the burgers and fries and then heating them up as they're ordered in the microwave. I know what heated up beef tastes like and this one is heated up at least once. The fries are of the frozen variety and were greaseless. I mean not a spec of grease on them anywhere. That means they were also precooked and heated up in the microwave. The whole meal was inedible and to top it off I spent all day yesterday other than a few minutes here and there sick as a dog. I'm positive I got a touch of food poisoning from that small bite of burger. The restaurant did credit me the $18 and change for the burgers and fries to use the next time I come in. What good is a credit if you get food poisoning from the place? read more
