The best thing about Kurralta Park by far!…read more Super friendly service in a lovely atmosphere with great food that's fresh and funky but not at all pretentious. 'Big ups' to the guy with the glasses and the Blondie that work the weekends! I doubt I will stay in a Kurralta Park next time I'm in Adelaide because it's a bit of a hole but I'd make a trip over to have smashed avocado at F&F. At the moment Yelp is asking me to put some mustard on this review which is funny because I always love having mustard with my brekkies. There was no problem with this and they happily supplied me with extra condiments; seeded and Dijon. That's about all really. I don't know how much mustard I can possibly put in without it all turning into a review about mustard. The juices are amazing! Go to Froth and Fodder. Now I've apparently taken this review's pants off. Pretty soon it'll be naked. I'll end it here.

Thankfully the place is far enough away from the shopping centre so that retail hell has no impact. Being pretty hungry after a late night this was the perfect place to come. The smashed avocado (see pic) was sensational for this purpose (as well as on the eye) and the accompanying long black was pretty OK as well. Along with fast service a pretty good experience on an early workday morning. Price is not on the cheap end, but at least the quality and service match up. Looks like I might be turning off the well beaten track more often....

I wouldn't necessarily call it classy, but it has an atmosphere of being a place for semi-special occassions. They have a pretty decent selection of beers, and the surroundings do make you feel as if you were in the English countryside. Mind you, it is pretty popular, and a little pricier than what you would expect.

As the trend for pubs which look like fancy bars and fancier restaurants continues, its nice to walk into a pub with a solid wooden bar, well worn chesterfields in the front bar and fairly simple wooden tables in the restaurant expect the traditional as well; chicken schnittys, fish and chips - the works. The Duck Inn also has a great range of beers and ciders. Adelaide Hills cider has been on tap here since you could tap their kegs and their local range is superb for a small pub. Like most pubs, the Duck Inn does have pokies, but you can't hear them in the restaurant and the noise level in the bar is minimal. I'd opt for the Duck Inn on a lazy day and to sit in the Front bar next to the fire on the big couches with some beer and chips and spend your day doing not quite a lot.

The Menu is small yet varied, local providers & is seasonal. The wine list is not huge but is a close regional selection. The surrounding are intimate, fresh, bright and breezy :) Easy parking in surrounding streets. The staff are lovely :) The prices are reasonable and the food is DELICIOUS:) :) Will happily come back again and again. This is what Blackwood has been lacking & now it has arrived :)

Loud too, even though there weren't many fellow diners. It's a small room and everyone can hear everyone (WOW, someone at the next table was talking about their affair). We thought acoustics would be disastrous if it was better patronised and word on the grape vine is that this place has re-established itself from a café to an upmarket Italian restaurant so, when full it would be more like a cafeteria cacophony. Winelist: 4 / 10 Oh dear! An Italian inspired restaurant with no Italian wines?? A few extra marks for supporting locavore but, a Barolo, Sangiovese or at least a Vermentino would complement the intended restaurant influence. Even the local wines that monopolise the list are main stream and average. Service: 6 / 10 Call me old fashioned but, if one is expecting 'upmarket' Darlings, an old girl and my professional counterparts notice things. Serve from the left - clear from the right; unless 2 patrons next to each other are in conversation, clear only when everyone has finished, don't reach across in front of your patron, top up the vino, top up the water, don't hover, staff should intimately know the dishes and wine, etc etc. And of greatest importance, they should look like they actually enjoy their job. Need I say more about 1923? Cuisine: 5 / 10 And only just a 5, saved by the quality of the cuisine, not the selection of the cuisine. The kitchen does good with the almost boring and average dishes listed. For a restaurant that's positioned itself at 'upmarket' Italian it's not genuine Italian. There's no signature dish, no scaloppine (veal), Nothing chocolate for dessert (Italian sacrilege). Nothing that leaps out from the menu that shrieks "PICK ME, PICK ME". Value for what you get: 5 / 10 Expensive. Better value elsewhere. The deal maker or breaker; would I go back? No. This place has pitched itself at the ranks of the likes of Assaggio, Jamie's Italian, Chianti and Ambrosini's. It comes nowhere near this standard. We were hoping the trek up the hill would be worth it but, it wasn't. We came back down the hill to one of the aforementioned for dessert, coffee and Moscato. 25.5 out of 50. Dame Dine Alot.

Can confidently say that i am glad we did. Let me start with the excellent service - we showed up at this restaurant 20 minutes before closing time and were welcomed with warm smiles and a simple yet friendly atmosphere. In our starving desperation, we shamelessly ordered an outrageous amount of food (double what was needed), all the while thinking surely this must be the friendly owners worst nightmare when they were clearly closing up shop. However instead of doubling over in cardiac arrest, the little man behind the counter nodded encouragingly and recommended appropriate sides. The meal was mostly prepared before us with the chicken and lamb skewers cooked to perfection over charcoal and the rice, salad and bread prepared in the back. Everything was served warm within half an hour. I have enjoyed Afghan Cuisine at several different restaurants, including much better known establishments and can say that the food served here definitely stood its own in terms of authenticity and deliciousness. Yes, definitely enjoyed every bite, from the succulent charcoaled chicken chunks down to the fluffiest rice i have ever tasted. All the while the owner kept checking in on us to see if we needed anything else. Stomachs full we mentally prepared for what we thought would be a wallet destroying bill. Instead our minds were pleasantly blown by how cheap the bill was and infact went back to confirm that he had charged us the right amount for everything we ordered. So there you have folks - Excellent Service, Amazing food and Awesome prices. It doesnt get better than that.

Then the delivery driver called to say he's at our door but the lady doesn't want the food and where are we. He was in a suburb 30 minutes away. The Food arrived completely cold but, the temperature wasn't even the main complaint. The food had no flavour, looked like half eaten left overs and stunk, pretty much a dogs breakfast. So if you have a spare 2.5 hours and would like to eat a cold dogs breakfast I would recommend this to you, If not stay away. Since it was like a dogs breakfast i I tried to give some of it to my dog but, he spat it out and went out in the garden and ate some grass instead.
