He was slammed and we felt bad so decided to come a few days later. Service was great! Food was pretty good and interesting. We love espresso martinis and got the spiced espresso martini. We saw it had rum instead of the normal vodka. We both didn't like the drink at all... Rum is not our thing but figured we'd give it a try. We got a salad with house made halloumi cheese which was kinda different. Scallops were pretty good but not too exciting. The pear Gorgonzola was pretty good but I'm not a fan of Gorgonzola much so I squeezed a lot of it out. The fish was amazing! That was our favorite dish. And for desert the satanic garden was cute with little grape bunnies! Very cute but was just ok flavor wise.

When we came in at night there was a live singer performing and chatting with us which really amped up the atmosphere, and the dessert was lovely. Lunch was great as well - we got the duck (that sauce is divine), the pork belly (so tender and juicy), the squid ink burger (interesting flavours) and the truffle fries (just yum). Price is a bit on the higher end but it is worth it. Definitely a true contender on the Peel St strip.

It is so refreshing. If you're not looking hard enough you would easily miss it. Walk in and it's like the prohibition era, from the grungy shelves to the dark, moody decor and booths to the sad music. It is easily one of the best themed cocktail bars in Adelaide. Drinks are fantastic. Some bars have expensive drinks for not much and they don't taste great. Not at Baddog, they are top notch and the barman does it right in front of you on the bar so you don't miss a thing. Brilliant. Best find of the year for me so far.

The waist coats, crystal glasses and twisted stainless steel and silver spoons all work to make this a top spot for a cocktail or cheeky beer. A maestro of the common and rare cocktails and a range of spirits you wont find in many bars Zack makes this bar. Sitting at the bar is mandatory for the first drink in my opinion then sneak off to the lux booths for quiet and intimate drinks. Its dark, has very cool décor and edgy clean bathrooms. Bad Dog Bar doesn't have tvs, doesn't have pokies and doesn't have tap beer and for goodness sakes never order an apple-tini :) and that's the way we like it. Top Tip: order the pickleback - rye bourbon shot followed by some freshly made pickle juice. The SMoking Joint cocktail is also a fav!

This is my special night out or even not so special night out starting point. The cocktails here are truly unique and now having collectively tried quite a few with partner and friends I can't find fault. (My personal favourite is the Violet Champagne Cocktail.) The setting is luxuriously decadent and seductive, the cocktails seduce even more and the alcoholic ambience is stupendous. A Sydney friend makes this her only must do whenever in Adelaide. Not that us Radelaideans need to compare ourselves in anyway - do we? I can't rave much more except to hint that whether it's Valentine's day, Birthday, Anniversary, Chinese New Year, Haven't Seen Old Friend's For Ages or you've just had a shitty week at work make a beeline for The Collins. Your efforts will be rewarded and the world will look beautiful again.

When it came time to be let in I was getting my License from my wallet at the front of the door. I…read morewas told by the security guard to show my ID to another bouncer standing outside of the line. When I walked over to him he told me to go away. I asked him why and he asked how many drinks I had and I told him (3). He accused me of lying and said that I was sent over to him because I was too drunk. I was pretty clear with him that I was not lying and I was clearly not drunk, talking fine, standing fine, and so on. He told me to go speak to the other guy again. When I did, he asked me how many drinks I had, and I answered, he laughed and said "if you were honest I would have let you in" which was obviously a lie because he was not planning on letting me in anyway. He told me to go back to the other guy and said "he's the boss go talk to him". When I spoke to him, I asked him why he thought I was drunk and he kept giving childish responses like "nothing, I'm kicking you out for no reason" and "the police are walking past if you want to ask them". I told him that he was obviously saying it to get rid of me because the police were not going to make them let me in. At this point, my friend who had been let in, was waiting for me at the side of the entrance, where he was told he was allowed to stand but after he mentioned that he was waiting for me, the bouncer that checked my ID and his buddy grabbed him under the arms and threw him into me. Then the guy I was sent to and the guy that checked my ID (and assaulted my friend) kept saying "it's not my decision, go speak to the other guy" amongst other things like telling me I'm "bullshitting" and to "piss off". By this point it was obvious the guy I was sent to and two guys that assaulted my friend were making fun of me by sending me back and fourth because they kept looking at each other and laughing while being rude to me. Then when I got annoyed at them for laughing, they started yelling at us and the security manager came out and pulled me and my friend aside to talk to me about what happened. He explained that they have a job to do and it is within their rights to decline someone based on a "visual assessment" of how drunk someone is. I acknowledged that, but I made a point of how rude they were in doing so, and how they did not even tell me what was going on until I asked. He said that he still cannot let me in because he has to stand by their decisions, which is pretty poor given the fact that I had demonstrated that I was not intoxicated like they were saying. He was agreeing with whatever I said to him and it was clear to me that he was just trying to get rid of me and my friend, he said that he will review the footage and if what I am saying is true, it will be addressed. Then I asked if I could be let know what the outcome was, his response was "these guys are pretty replaceable, if you don't see them standing here, then you know it was dealt with". Was annoying because if he handled the situation properly, he would have gotten my contact details. He obviously had no plans of addressing the situation and advised us to go somewhere else to continue the night (it was 15 minutes before lockout at this point), but my question is, if he thought that I was sober enough to go somewhere else, why not let us in here? Needless to say, I was really annoyed at what had happened, and even more annoyed that after having agreed with me that what happened was wrong. The manager still didn't let me in or do anything to resolve the situation beyond speaking to me (i.e getting my contact details, asking them to apologies, or letting me in). Even after having written an email to rocket rooftop bar about it, I was not surprised when I was not told how this was dealt with and the same people were standing at the door when I returned, giving me the same attitude.

But look, they're not all bad and as the others said you can dance and have a good time if you're there with mates. The toilets are almost always blocked and foul so avoid them where possible. The Rocket stairs are second only to Supermild in danger terms, and it's likely one of your friends will stack it in which case you can point and laugh at them. If you're the one who falls though, you will be humiliated and expect your friends to turn a blind eye. I once had a drink poured down my neck when I was chilling on the lounge here. In the guys defence he did buy me a fresh vodka after.

We stood up at the bar and enjoyed the buzz of the place (not with doof doof music or loud obnoxious patrons) but with chatter and people weaving together a night of fun for themselves. You can also sit at a booth upstairs and watch over the crowd, perch in one of the windows at the front or sit on stools at small benches. If you are someone who hates making decisions, this tiny hole in the wall, 65 person bar has already made half of them for you. Their simple menu includes 3 beers on tap and a selection of craft brews by the bottle, 3 whites and 3 reds by the glass, a selection of wines by the bottle and then any cocktail you request can be made. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable about all of the drinks on offer and make a point of telling you about what you are drinking, what it tastes like, or giving you recommendations. There are also only 4 food items on the menu - Coriole Olives, Pickels and 2 charcuterie boards made from The Charcuterie (a spin off from Lucia's Deli in the Central Market). We had the duck pate which doesn't sound or look that appetising but is actually not a paste but more of a shredded duck in pork belly fat goodness. The proscuitto platter again only came with bread and pickles but it didn't need anything else because of the quality of meat - it was a young cut of meat so not too typically proscuitto salty, very thinly sliced but still not bland. Now I have to warn all those typical Adelaidians our there who "refuse to line up." At 7pm on a Friday the line up was about 8 persons deep but we were inside within 20 minutes. Because this isn't a bar for spending hours and hours at people move in and out pretty quickly. So suck it up princess because CLT is worth the wait.

I heard they do good steaks but I was craving for a burger so being the smart me, I ordered a steak burger. Turns out there wasn't 20% off this one but it was a good deal of $10 with any drink of your choice! We also ordered the 300g rump steak and the Panko crumbed prawns, which consisted of a good serve of 10 prawns, tartare sauce, chips and salad. Much to my disappointment, my order was forgotten and I had to wait for half an hour before it arrived. The waitress was very kind and apologised for the delay and even offered me another drink! I was going to turn a blind eye to the food delay until I bit into my burger! The steak patty was chewy and I just could not take another bite. At this point, it was already past 8.30pm which is when the kitchen closes but the waitress was again, kind enough to re-make my order. I decided to swap to Panko crumbed prawns instead and they happily did it for me. Overall, I wouldn't say this was a completely bad experience. Yes, the steak burger is a definitely a no-no for me on my next visit but the rump steak, which I got to taste, was surprisingly quite tender. The good service also made my experience a whole lot better. Harry's bar has a nice old country pub feel as you enter, so I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a quiet spot to drink. They do also have partitions if you're wanting to organise your next function here.

Maybe I didn't dig too deep into the place, or maybe it was just that it was only a sports bar, but when I came back here recently they had completely opened up the uppper level. Oh, as it is with Adelaide, sure enough when I wandered into this pub I ran straight into a couple of old friends of mine, so I ended up killing some time with them. They actually had a decent selection of beers on tap, and the balcony was also pretty cool. In fact it is a much better addition to the Adelaide pub scene that this place used to be.

Admittedly, this is a fact I can't be sure of. I haven't been everywhere else in the world, y'see. I CAN, however, tell you that I DID try a veritable array of rum, and all of it was fine. Bear in mind, I've always been a vodka man. All other spirits are second-rate to me. (Except the green fairy, but I don't really consider THAT a spirit. It's more a monster unto itself.) But this is some good rum. The decor is great, and not at all cheap or tacky (as you'd expect from a members club), and the music complements the decorating perfectly. Though I'm not typically a fan of rum, if you've friends who love the stuff, bring them here (or be dragged along), and you'll have a gay old time.
