Just a note here - we scheduled an appt for this location in old town area of Chicago. We got a message confirming and everything. Then, we got a message at about 2:20 - which I assumed was our reminder and I didn't open it. Then we walked to the shop and it was closed!!! I then opened the reminder and it said we were already 20 mins late and would be charged $75 for the missed appt. My friend called them immediately and we found that they had temporarily closed the Chicago store and were routing appointments to the NORTH CAROLINA store. This is why they thought we were late. Once we realized the issue - the woman on the phone was very apologetic and explained that the appts were getting rerouted but that it was a mistake on their end and they were very sorry. They refunded the fee. I am appreciative of this - but they really should have something to keep us from booking somewhere that isn't open. We wasted three hours of travel time and prep on a busy day. Boo. I'm sure the dresses are pretty though - that and the easy fix and apology upped the rating. read more

Stay clear!! Horrible customer service after the store majorly messed up my customized dress!! I was confirmed that certain customizations (including nude dying pads, changing mesh underlay to nude, and hemmed to the length of my heels) could be done to my gown at the time of purchase and over email in the days after. Therefore, I went ahead and waited the 6 months to receive my gown, only to pick up a gown with no customizations done (with 3 months before the big day!). The one that really hurt and my tailor said was not an easy fix is the top mesh was in the wrong color. The now manager told me it was the previous stylist's mistake as it wasn't possible to do that customization. Was stuck with a dress I didn't feel was the right. They tried to tell me we actually got exactly what I paid for and at least didn't get charged additional for customizations!! (but I may have cancelled my order if I knew these couldn't be done with such a short time frame until the wedding) No refund, no return, and they ghosted me for over 3 weeks. Just a lot of $$$ lost. I had to buy a last-minute wedding dress off the shelf due to this "high-end, customizable" shop's mistakes. I've now been repeatedly put on the backburner with no reasonable resolution or accountability on their end. Wowza what a bad experience. My fiancée went to this store based on the reviews and found the perfect dress that she absolutely fell in love with. The experience was stellar and she came away very happy. Most of the reviews you will read here are based on this point of sale experience. Things changed drastically when it came time for pick-up a month later. The final dress was not built correctly and did not fit. The sales associate, who made it very clear she did not want to be there, told her it needed to be tailored to open up half an inch, and that any tailor can do this. However Winnie Couture wouldn't own the mistake, so we would have to get it fixed ourselves. She then made us sign a waiver saying we were happy with the dress to be able to take it out of the store to get it assessed by a tailor. (By the way, they gaslit us through the entire process to make us believe any mistake was our fault and not theirs, thus justifying their lack of ownership. This is a theme you will notice in the other post-pickup reviews here, which I wish we had paid attention to before purchase.) Well the tailor that Winnie Couture recommended told her she needed to buy a new dress because there was no way this dress could be repaired, and the sales associate had straight up lied. This is 2 weeks before our wedding so that's not easy. That tailor is now doing whatever they can to build a new dress out of the cloth because Winnie Couture's work can't be salvaged! We know this is not a one-off incident because while we were at the store for her pickup, there was another bride-to-be also trying on her new dress and Winnie Couture had made it too short. We watched in horror as they refused to own their mistake and told her she'd just need to wear it without shoes on her wedding day. Please please read the other post-pickup reviews here, this is a store that does NOT stand behind its work and will find a way to screw you. Don't let them ruin your big day. This level of service and complete lack of pride in workmanship is barely acceptable at a dollar store, let alone a wedding dress boutique. This review is for a customized gown and the customer service I received. I'm sure if I did not have my dress customized I wouldn't have had such an issue. If you like a dress here buy as is.... never would I thought I would have to buy another dress since mine is so bad. I went into Winnie after walking by and seeing pretty dresses in the window. I made an apt and loved a dress that had long sleeves. I asked if the dress could be made off the shoulder and in a different color. The consultant said they could do anything and said it would be beautiful. So I asked for the customization and paid my first payment on the gown. The dress came in two different colors! And then the sleeves were short and the dress was so ill fitting. The old consultant was no longer working there so I was working with a new one. When I mentioned the color the consultant got upset and said that's the way I wanted it (why would I order the dress in two different colors!) then when I tried to explain to her she got very rude with me and acted like it's my fault. Then when I asked about the sleeves she said they measured them right I just need alterations and would get back to me on how to fix the color.... well days go by I never heard from her. I then contacted corporate and when she found out I did she got upset with me. I took the dress to alterations and the first thing the guy said was wow this is a difficult dress I'm surprised they made this.... he's like I don't wanna touch this dress till least get new sleeves. Well I had to argue till I got new sleeves and told the salon my disappointment and they acted like they didn't care. Since I've been taking the dress to alterations and have been doing the best to get the dress to fit properly after several tries, 1k$ later and the big day only around the corner I gave up. The dress looks awful. I wish the salon would have explained this dress wouldn't look right customized and pushed me to another gown. Now 4k$ later... I have a dress I can't wear and was forced to buy a new gown. Horrible customer service and how they handled this unwilling to help me. I used to have a glowing post of this bridal dress store but I took it down. I bought my dress here in 2018, and was amazed by the collection of gowns that they had. They also sold me on the notion that since it was custom-made to my dimensions, I would not need alterations. I was naive and believed this. Come May 2019 (wedding was in July), I picked up my dress and put it on. Something just did not feel right - I felt that the bodice was suffocating me, but I had lost 8 pounds since so there was no way this was due to weight gain. I looked at the photos my friend took of me and saw that the bodice was too short, and therefore what was my "waist" height level was then slightly below my rib cage. I went back to Winnie couture and my consultants (Michelle and Carly) called HQ to understand what they could do to resolve this. Luckily HQ said they would remake the entire bodice for me, but it would take some time for it to arrive from China. While we were re-measuring me for the new bodice, the original dimensions were off by 2 inches for my armpit-to-armpit length, and the bodice was also off in my shoulder-to-navel by 1.5 inches (I can remember the details because it was fairly harrowing). This explains why the original bodice didn't fit me - the first measurement was just completely off. The consultants NEVER once acknowledged this. As much as this was frustrating, this is where the experience started to go downhill for me. There was no news on when the new bodice would arrive, and since it was getting close to my wedding date, I called the stores to check in on updates. I was told to be grateful that they were even doing this for me, although it was clearly the store's fault for overpromising on custom-made dresses and then inaccurately taking down measurements! When I told them I was worried as it was getting close to 6 weeks out from my wedding, and we couldn't even start on alterations, I got told off on the phone as well that these aren't concerns. Talk about gaslighting and not owning up to mistakes! All these while, I had to coordinate with the alterations to change my appointments and see if they could still take me in. And so when the bodice arrived, my best friend came along to take photos and notes just in case something went wrong again - Michelle rudely told her "please remember what appointment this is. You are just here for a pickup". The tone had clearly soured over the last two months - no - you do not take it out on customers (brides OR bridesmaids). When I took the bodice for the alterations and we then realized that the 3-point bustle was uneven. The store did not want to pay for this, because they said I signed a contract saying everything was okay. So just FYI to future brides - document and photograph every single detail when you go pick up your dresses. I am sad to say this but try not to let your emotions of picking up the dress take over completely because it becomes your "fault" for not noticing things they mess up. Did I love my dress at the end of the day after fixing all these mistakes that I discovered on my own (which again, the store's marketing gimmick says customization saves you headache)? YES I did love my final dress - thanks to HQ, and to the kind ladies who did my alterations for saving the day and being my therapist! But do I think there is a risk of buying wedding gowns from Winnie? YES. Also sadly when I went for my final alteration fitting, I met another bride who cried to me, because her dress was not what she ordered at all from Winnie. It was the same Hollie gown as mine, but the tulle felt much cheaper and similarly, her dress size was off! She ended up buying another dress. I am not making any of this up. If you want to judge a store you should look at reviews post-pickup. The reviews here are mostly posted after point of sale because they asked us to do it, so do be wary. read more

I want to preface this review with my experience dress shopping with Deja in August 2019 was so much fun, helpful and positive. She was absolutely great! Unfortunately, now that I'm finally close to my wedding date, I have just returned from my 2nd fitting where the seamstress said I need to shorten the hem of my dress. When she first mentioned it at the initial fitting, I said 'no I don't need that as the bridal shop did a custom hem', but once the dress was taken in to fit me properly, I realized she was correct. My hem was too long. So, I called Winnie and spoke with the manager, Emma. I explained to her that despite the "custom length" I paid for, I now have to pay again in alterations to get the hem shortened. Her response was: 1. "You signed off on the dress when it arrived at the shop, so we're not responsible anymore" Correct, your "get out of jail free" card is true. However, I am not the professional here. I trusted that I was measured properly and I trusted that I would be assessed by the professionals in store while I was busy holding the dress up on my body since it hadn't been altered yet to fit my frame. 2. "We usually add a little extra hem in case you change your mind about your shoes" NO - I was told when I purchased this dress that the magic of buying at Winnie means I would save money at alterations because the bustle and the hem would be taken care of. If that is not the case, please inform your associates to not sell brides into this fantasy lie. read more

Oh my goodness these people are miracle workers!! They were my second shop that I checked out to find my perfect wedding dress, and I'm SO glad I decided to go visit another store after I was convinced I had found the one at my first shop. The woman helping me during my consultation was so knowledgeable and such a good listener about what I wanted in a gown, I knew immediately I was in good hands. I brought about 6 women with me, including my mom, and we had such a good time trying different styles and seeing what else was out there as we made our way through the shops expansive collection. At one point, I couldn't get over how much I loved the top from one dress and the bottom from another, and the consultant let me know that we could actually combine the two dresses! It all turned out better than I could have ever imagined. The gown was PERFECT! It even ended up being ready about a month before they told me it would be (still with more than enough time for mild alterations). If you want to feel like a celebrity from start to finish, and not stress about lack of inventory or timeliness/responsiveness, this is the shop for you! Everyone I communicated or worked with was great, and they do such a good job of helping me understand all my options while still helping you stay focused and not overwhelmed at the same time. I was down to two dresses and ended up choosing one from a different place but I highly recommend this shop! It's gorgeous inside, and has tons of stunning dresses to choose for. Overall great experience! I was looking for a very specific style dress, and had not been able to find it at any other bridal shops! The staff are super nice and friendly, and took the time to listen. I did end up buying my dress here, and it was beautiful! They also have a gown preservation company they work with, who will clean, fix, and preserve your dress after the wedding, and was a very easy process! The only thing I would have changed, were the custom alterations I had added on when I bought the dress. The hem had to be let out (even w/recommended max 2.5 inch heels) and the bustle also had to be lowered - so I had to pay for both of these alterations again. I also think it slightly hindered the overall torso alterations I might have been able to do. Would still highly recommend - dresses are excellent quality! read more

Winnie Couture was the 8th and final bridal store I went to. Having already tried on so many dresses without much success, I wasn't expecting much when I came in but I'm so glad I stopped by. Michelle and Carly are both super friendly and easy to work with. I really appreciated how accommodating and understanding they are. Unlike many other bridal stores, Winnie Couture can do customizations in-house, which I really liked because I could create the specific style I wanted without the risk of ruining the dress. I wanted to get several alterations done to my dress and Michelle was super supportive and helpful throughout the process. I decided to get additional alterations after ordering my dress and Michelle worked hard to make it happen, even calling the alterations store to make sure my alterations would be possible. I can't wait to see all of it come together! I also bought some of my accessories here. I liked that they offered unique styles because a lot of the other bridal stores in Chicago just carry the same designers. Deja was my amazing consultant, but it also felt like a group effort. All the ladies in the shop were helping out. I loved almost every dress I tried on BUT then...I tried on THE ONE. **Long review ahead** Just picked up my dress and I could not be happier! Carly was my bridal consultant from start to finish and has been a delight to work with! Winnie Couture was my first stop for wedding dress shopping and I fell in love with a dress within the first few tries. I thought I was at least going to shop around, but I was too impatient and just loved the dresses, the beautiful store, and people. The dress I picked had everything I wanted except for the neck line, but no worries because Winnie Couture is able to customize within reason. I even had the dress custom sized instead of ordering a generic size because too lazy to go to another store to alter. I appreciated that Carly told me it would probably be more expensive to have them custom size the dress instead of going to a alterations shop. My impatient self rather have them size the dress correctly the first time instead of me having to do it later. The store is gorgeous and has multiple fitting rooms and couches for the bride and bridal party. Winnie was my fourth stop in my wedding gown search. I was overwhelmed, or should I say underwhelmed, at the places I went to. I had a vision going in each time and the places didn't seem to be able to take in what I was trying to get across. I went to Winnie without too high of expectations but they totally blew me away. Despite all the good reviews on this site, I didn't have the best experience. My sister purchased a dress from here and thought it was "the one." When she was trying on, the "try on" dress was smaller than her actual size. The lady helping us made it sound as though her ordered size would look a lot better, but when we picked it up, it looked worse! We tried to negotiate, but they weren't willing to make us happy. Amazing experience! After visiting 5 bridal stores, I FINALLY found my perfect dress at Winnie Couture. Your appointment includes a private shopping experience in the entire salon. The space is beautiful- a chic seating area, ample mirrors and bubbly for your entourage. I loved that I was able to freely roam the racks and try on as many dresses as I wanted. They have racks of gorgeous dresses and carry a range of styles and cuts, mostly above $2,200. I can't say enough nice things about Ana and her team. I felt zero pressure and completely comfortable as Ana patiently helped me try on (and re-try on) multiple styles. I fell in love with a few dresses and, even after making a purchase, Ana let me come back a few days later to try on a few dresses again and make sure I felt 100% happy with my choice. My experience at Winnie Couture Chicago absolutely blew my expectations out of the water! I worked with Michelle, who reached out and scheduled time to talk with me and understand what I was looking for more than once before my appointment. I had visited one other shop prior to Winnie that day, and I can't stress enough how above and beyond Michelle and the other girls went to make sure our time there was perfect. No one else can compete! Not to mention, all of the dresses are stunning - there is a lot to choose from, and you cannot make the wrong choice. Walking in, the shop is perfection - any feeling of being overwhelmed by choices is non-existent due to Michelle and the girls guidance. I found my dress during the first visit full of champagne and laughs, but didn't pull the trigger. The girls that work here are truly the most helpful I had met during my entire dress shopping process. Michelle called me before my first appointment to step through their online closet (you can choose the dresses you want to try on online and they pull them for you so you can start right away - how cool!) She answered all my questions and was SO patient. They are really IN the process with you, they know the dresses so WELL. It's such a cute shop AND all of the dresses you see online are there. Literally this place is amazing! Went here as the third appointment (and final) of the first day of trying on wedding dresses and had no intention of buying anything. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming and sooooo knowledgeable. The possibilities are endless here and there is so much you can customize or add or do to the gowns.
